Hi Cherie,

I have trouble sleeping too. My doctor just put me on Ambien, but I have a feeling that what bothers me is sleep apnea. My sister has it and I am at risk too, I think. But I will try the Ambien and see if it helps with my cocktail at night. If it doesn't then I am going to ask for a sleep study. My fit bit shows that I am very restless during the night. That is part of the reason that I think I may have apnea. I have never had any experience with Latuda. I've heard that it is good. I take Wellbutrin which I like because it helps you lose rather than gain weight. I have been on it for years and with all the rest of the meds that I take touting possible weight gain, it is one of those that I don't have to worry about. I take Abilify in conjunction with the Wellbutrin and it works out well for me. I hate trying new meds too. Sorry to hear that you've been depressed. Winter is that time of year when depression is easy to let sneak up on you. It is so cold and dark all the time. It can really do a number to your head. A glass of wine here and there is good for your health. I'm sorry that you have physical problems that you are dealing with too. I think that Larrisa was on Latuda and may still be on it. She may have some good advice for you regarding the medication. I hope to see you on the March thread and posting often.

I have set up the March Chat, so we won't be conversing here anymore. I will put up the stop signs so that everyone goes to the new thread instead. March is all about Leprechauns. four leaf clovers, pots of gold and emeralds. Share your thoughts with us on the new thread !! Take care and God bless, Deb emoticon

Hi all!

I have a problem sleeping, but psych wanted me off Ambien. I saw her today, She added Latuda to my cocktail. How does it affect you? I hate trying new meds. But also been depressed. I've gained weight due to physical problems, now this could make me gain more! I used to work-out a lot, looked good, now I'm flabby. I still drink to much wine tho. sneakin it. and my hunny is such a good guy.

I'm so glad we are all getting together!

Hey! Glad to see you back. I agree with you in saying that meds can cause weight gain, but so can make better choices. I went up to 280 on Lithium, but also lost over 50 pounds after that while still on Lithium. I had to work very hard to do that, but it is possible. I had a very strict diet and was going to the gym 3-4 times a week. Great job on the weight loss and inches lost! You can do it!

Hi Folks, Been kinda off the radar for a bit. I'm still going strong with my program. I'm going on six weeks in a row streak! So proud! I've lost an I inch on my waist, thighs, and upper arm. I've been focusing on strength training rather than cardio all the time. The more muscle you gain the more calories you burn even at rest. I have schitzoaffective Disorder. I have been on the same med regimen for about 10 years. I've had my ups and downs throughout the years but I've been mostly stable. I think exercise plays a big part in stability even if it's in small increments. I have gained a ton of weight back after losing 80 pounds a few years back on Weight Watchers. I truly believe that medication does play a roll in weight gain but I also believe that it's the choices we make. There is so much information out there about weight loss and fitness out there. It's there for the taking.

Have a great day everyone.

Welcome, Joanne! My name is Diane and I have a bunch of issues, lol. I used to be anorexic and bulimic so I have major weight problems. If I don't eat enough I get shakes but if I eat too much I want to purge. I am doing pretty well with those right now, and have managed to lose some weight in a healthy way. It's a battle. My Geo has BED too, but he doesn't realize it. He got up to 588 pounds, got the gastric sleeve surgery, went down to 427 but is now at 450. I see him struggle, and it's hard. I have been on many meds that can cause weight gain and my weight got over 280. I'm 235 now and have been in the 230's for a year. I am trying to get down below 230 by the end of March. My goal weight is in the 150's-160's. I don't know if my weight gain was due to meds, since I did manage to lose weight on Lithium (which is what I was on when I was 280). Still, nobody said it would be easy... just know it is going to be worth it! (quote stolen from somebody)

Hi everyone,

I'm new here. I am bipolar and I am stable. I take Klonopin, Effexor, Lithium, Trazodone and am in the process of getting off Seroquel due to wt gain. I have been on Seroquel for about 2 yrs. I have gained about 30 pds at least. I can't wait to be off it completely. I also have binge eating disorder which makes it hard. I need to come back to Spark People it's been awhile.

I'm doing well on my meds. I'm on 80mg Latuda, 800mg Neurontin twice a day, 40mg Prozac and 300mg Trazadone. I have been sleeping very little (the worst was Thursday... I got less tha 2 hours of sleep in 24 hours) and I have been pretty stable. I was a little manic, but that's about it. My main problems right now are my IBS and migraines. I was really sick last week and was connected to the toilet for days. I ended up in the ER because I didn't have my IBS meds with me (I was in LA) and I was throwing up black. They gave me a bunch of meds and for the most part I'm doing better. I'm just glad that I am back home and feeling better. I was sick for my mom's funeral, but I did go and saw a bunch of my family that I haven't seen in over a decade. I felt so loved in LA, and I am going to move back there before November. Whether Geo comes with me or not is still to be seen. We are going to couples therapy starting on March 1st and we will see how things go then. If we can't work things out then I'm leaving in June and will give him rent money and bills so that he has a place to live until he can move to Oregon. I still care about him, but neither one of us is in love with the other. Just drama. I hope to work things out, but I don't think it's going to happen. My brother was telling me I have to go into counseling with an open mind, but it's just really hard. Despite everything I'm going through I am still pretty stable.

I have been away from home for almost a month. I was in Palatka, FL from the 28th of January to February 4th, then I was in LA for my mom's funeral from the 14th to yesterday. I am exhausted but doing well other than that. I have been taking my meds all the time, dealing with Geo (we are going to start counseling to see if we can stay together... I don't think we can. His anger is too much and he doesn't want to change) and I have been getting crap from my mom's husband. Just so much is going on. I haven't been around for a while, but I am going to start coming back as much as I can. I know I need support, both mentally and with my weight, and I know here on Spark I can get that. I would love to help anyone out that needs it. I find that helping other people helps me as well. I miss all of you! Ayla, I hope you find a place to live soon, and Kitten I hope you do well without your meds. It's hard, but I know you can do it. Feel free to PM me if you need someone to talk to! emoticon

I hope things go well for you kitten. It's hard to go without meds. Sometimes we forget what we take them for. I hope you remain symptom free for your trip.

I went to see my potential apartment last Wednesday. There are five people competing for this one subsidized apartment. The last of my papers will be submitted to them tomorrow, then I have to wait and go through more red tape. I have been in the process of moving since last August. Since it is a government program it takes a while. But it will all be worth it in the end.
When this happens I will be on my own again for the first time in fifteen years.

I have been packing for a five day trip to Arizona and leave tomorrow. I went to refill my medicine case and realized that I am short on meds. My pharmacy is an hour away. I am thinking that I will just have to deal with being out of meds for the next week-ish since I don't want another two hours of driving today compounded with tomorrow's eight hours. The joys of living in the middle of nowhere. On a good note, I am lowering my dose of Seroquel by half and so far it has been going well...I just don't know if the dropped dosage of that plus the lack of other meds is going to be a problem. I have a conundrum.

I got hit by hypomania on the verge of true mania in the past week. Eating has been difficult--food just isn't on my list of things my body needs (or that is what it is telling my body). I have been having to force myself to eat at least some during the day. A far cry from normal me that wants to eat the fridge and everything in it!

So I am enjoying the weight loss, but I realize that it is not a healthy way to go about it. On the other hand, it has gotten me down to 192ish as of this morning. Must. Not. Give. In.

So I have been getting a TON of editing on my sci-fi book and cleaned up a storm today. I found the table that I have not seen the surface of in over a year. (Yeah, clutter is a part of my life.) Now that I have it up and clean I can have friends over for gaming every week. It has been ages since I had anyone over to the house and it will be good for me. Even when I don't want to see anyone it tends to be good for my brain to have interaction, hard as it is.

So for now I am riding high and watching out for tipping over to the breaking point. A dangerous and exhilarating game--razor walking.

Hi Angie,

I am with you. It's time for Spring to begin and this horrible winter with the snow and the ice to end. Welcome back !! I am keeping busy with the Winter 5% Challenge. It has really kept me hopping, but I have lost over 20 pounds by joining the Fall Challenge and now the Winter one, so as long as I get results I am happy. Maybe joining a challenge or two might help you get your Spark back. The Realistic Resolutions is a good one, if you want to start out slowly. It includes exercise and diet help, but isn't overwhelming. I'm glad to see you back !!!

Larissa,

It was so nice to see you post on the "Mood" thread. I've missed your posts and I hope that you are feeling okay still. emoticon

Sending positive energy and hugs to all that need them !! Take care and God bless, Deb emoticon
