Larissa, I am glad that you can have a holiday with your family, even though it is not on a designated holiday. My family has a tendency of postponing holidays until timing works better.

Now that I am home I stepped on the scale. The same as when I left! I didn't gain weight while traveling! That was an amazing discovery as I was eating completely on food that was rich and expected to indulge.

While I was out I barely moved at all, no exercise and barely any walking during the day. I haven't been exercising at all for a while. I have to get up the gumption to either get out and go swimming or get outside. Soon I will have no excuse at all not to exercise thanks to getting a new-to-me treadmill. Now I just have to find a good place for it!

I hope all your holidays are well and that holiday stress is not overwhelming.

Thanks, Deb. I'm feeling a bit better... my sister says that she can visit my mom sometime other than Christmas due to flight prices. So now we are looking at January. Not really a holiday, but it would be nice to have us all together. I know it would mean a lot to my mom.

Diane,

I really sorry to hear of your mother's condition. I hope that you have a better Christmas than you did a Thanksgiving. I hope your Christmas visit finds her in better shape. It is so stressful having something like Parkinson's Disease. My Grandfather had that before he passed away. His major problems came from a heart attack and a liver shut down, though. I will keep your Mom and your family in my thoughts and prayers too. It's unfortunate that your brother and sister are not closer, so that they could share your worry about your Mom. It is so hard to carry a burden like that alone. I admire you for doing so. I hope that your Latuda begins to work properly, so that you can feel better. It's nice that it stops the hallucinations, perhaps it does need more time to be effective on your depression or you may need to tweak the dosage some more. Please feel better. I am so sad for you. Sending you positive energy and (((HUGS))) Take care and God bless, Deb emoticon

My Thanksgiving didn't go so well... family issues. But I'm trying to overcome it and move on. I learned what happens when you drink even a tiny bit of alcohol with Latuda- back to the mood swings. They have lessened again and I'm feeling a lot better. I like the Latuda- it gets rid of the hallucinations. It may not help my depression as advertised, but maybe I just need to give it more time. I'm trying, I really am. Just hard working around changing sleep patterns and having family issues. I'm going to see my mom for Christmas, and she is not doing well. It angers me that my brother and sister (both in LA, I'm in Miami and my mom is in Jacksonville) don't bother to call or even text my mom. They both have no idea how bad off my mom is (when she was younger, she was over 200 pounds, now she's 115 pounds). Just skin and bone. She falls all the time, she just sleeps and eats (very little... the Parkinson's makes her choke all the time). Sorry for all the depressing stuff... this is just my life right now.

My grandfather poised away just after midnight Friday morning. I'm not sure how to process it. I'm both saddened and relieved at the same time. I feel quite badly about it.

I hope that you all had a really nice Thanksgiving full of blessings, family and friends !! Mine was spectacular and every one was together for the day, despite the weather which was horrible. We got another 6 inches in one day. It just poured. But we were nice and warm inside. I love being around my grand sons. They were all so cute in their Thanksgiving best. Now it is over and it's time to put up the Christmas Tree. On to the next fun holiday - Christmas.

Sending positive energy and (((HUGS))) to all that need them. I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend. Take care and God bless, Deb emoticon emoticon

Was up in South Dakota with my grandparents and my dad. Dad and I went hunting (crossbow since I can't pulla regular now) for deer. I could only walk a little because of joint problems, but I finally got a really nice mule deer. Now dad and I are driving back to New Mexico with meat in tow. It should keep both my dad's and my freezer full through next year. Only about 650 miles to go on the road home.

It was interesting traveling while staying on my calorie plan. I did pretty well except for Thanksgiving, which was not that bad really. I am hoping to see progress when I step on the scale at home!

I'm in shock. I'm 231.4 pounds! I saw that number, thought "no way" and stepped on the scale again. It once again said 231.4. I haven't been this low this entire YEAR! I'm so excited and ready to get my tee shirt (my reward for getting under 230). I might be a bit hypomanic but I'm just so happy!

Thank you guys. I hope that the mood swings are just me getting used to the Latuda. It iis lowering my hallucinations so that's good. I just hope the mood swings go and I'm not as depressed. I made it to 233.2 pounds by the end of the challenge (I started at 235.4) but I'm encouraged that I lost weight in the first place.

I had my knee surgery yesterday to reattach my ligaments and tendons. I am in a lot of pain this morning and I will be focusing on Chair Exercises and trying to do the in between challenge before the Winter Challenge. I'm so sorry Diane, that you are feeling so poorly. Touching base with you psych doctor regarding your meds is a good idea. Audrey, I hope that your medication tweak works really well for you. Diane, please feel better. I hope things look up for you Diane! Make sure you take it easy on your hip. Some non-weightbearing exercises for your core and glutes might help. But don't do anything that makes the pain worse.

had a bad day today. I had a dentist appointment early this morning and I had to take Lyft (like Uber, basically a taxi) there and back because I can barely walk with this pain in my hip. I have to take it slow. My doctor is giving me pills and telling me to rest so I can heal. I can't be still or resting all the time without going crazy. Not only that, I'm getting bad mood swings. I might see if I can talk to my psych to see what's going on. I'm still giving it a bit of a chance.

Saw my psychiatrist today. Talked to him about some of the concerns I've been having. Decided to raise my Lamictal to 400mg daily and made my klonopin daily at bedtime besides as needed for the anxiety attacks.

I'm so happy for you! Today is just a good day :)

I thought my mood swings were better, but I can see myself going hypomanic. I think I'm going to take half a Klonopin to calm myself down and switch from Coke Zero (with caffeine) to my juice with no caffeine. I've been calm most of the day. I just relaxed and rested my hip since it's been giving me so much pain. My doctor called and left me a message, but it was in Spanish and it was hard to understand. Last time I called my doctor they said Friday, but the message said tomorrow. I have to wake up early and see when my appointment is. I've been sleeping well, so it shouldn't be that hard.

Finally got the results back from the vet pathology.

All Clear! It was a benign sarcoma. The only treatment he will need is to take any new growing spots taken off when they crop up. My day just got a while lot better!

Well life is still interesting. Dog got his stitches out today and he is really happy to not have the itchies.

Unfortunately the results of the second pathology are still not in. I am so worried! All I can say is that I will be heartbroken if he has to take steroids for whatever he has. I have a long history of prednisone use. It sucks. It also can make anyone, or any dog, really crazy--skittish, angry, sleep troubles. Ug. No steroids please.

Just about to leave for a second hunting trip as the first was a bust. Here is hoping that I get Bambi quickly as it is supposed to incredibly cold for the season by the time I get up north.

Here's to hoping that this week is better than last week!

Hi all,
.
I hope that we are all doing better today than the other day. I'm sure that Audrey was right and that things are looking up for everyone. My mood has changed to one of contemplation and mindfullness. I am staying in the moment and have had no stressors today. My daughter is home from work today, so I have company when normally I wouldn't. Micah will be home from school around 3:00 pm, that's about 2 hours from now her on the West Coast. My day may change when Jeni goes to do laundry and I have Micah here, but we'll see. So far nothing to mar my morning or afternoon.

Larissa, I can relate to the Latuda problem you're having with sleep. One of my best friends was just put on Wellbutrin, because she wants to lose weight and Wellbutrin is one of the few antidepressants that will not give you weight gain. It helps you lose weight, but she is having the side effect of not being able to sleep either. I wonder if it is a temporary side effect that will go away once your body is used to it. She loves the way the Wellbutrin makes her feel, but the sleep part is a problem for her. She is bipolar too. I hope that you can get your finances straightened out. I hate it when I don't know how much is going to be left over from my check every month. Hope that you can get it figured out.

Well, have a really terrific Wednesday !! For those of us in the 5% Challenge, it's only four more days. I can really use a break. I am going in for knee surgery for ligament/tendon reattachment on Friday, so I will be out of commission for the rest of November - just in time for Thanksgiving- and most of December. When the January Challenge starts I should be in PT and hopefully that will count as exercise. Sending positive energy and (((HUGS))) to all that need them. Take care and God bless, Deb emoticon emoticon

I went over my bills last night and I edon't know what I did but it came out to Geo and I both having about 90 dollars to spend each month and when I do the same math it says that I have over $200 left over. I know that's not true but I don't know how I got that other number, but it does seem like we both get $90 a month. I have to work it out. I just know I don't get a lot of money to spend. I think I'm going to go to my bank statement and check it out. I also need to get to my bank to get a check to send to my stock broker to get the right information to get my money from them.

Yes Larissa,

I enjoy the challenges too. I need to send Audrey a goodie for introducing me to the 5% Challenge. It was her post in the fall that got me into it. Now that I'm there I'm addicted!! I hope that your hip gets better. Pedal bike for the arms is great exercise. I don't go to the gym much now that I've hurt my knee either. There isn't much to do there on crutches. I hope to see you there if you're continuing on. I can self sabotage with the best of them, but I have been eating clean for this whole challenge and I have met my 5% goal. I am excited to begin the Winter one. Hoping to see you there !! Sending positive energy and (((HUGS))) Take care and God bless, Deb emoticon

I think the 5t% challenge groups are fun. I ended up with a small loss, but it's better than nothing. I'm just stuck in the 230's... every time I get low I sabotage myself. Especially nowl that I can barely walk with my hip pain. I'm going to try and use the pedal bike for my arms. I feel weird going to the gym, but at least I have that to keep up with my exercise.

Hi all,

I am so sorry that everyone seems to be having a very bad week. emoticon I am very sorry for your loss HMATTAX . I'm sure that you and the vet will work out a treatment plan for Link.I did not know that dogs got Lupus. LARISSA, I hope that your new meds work out well. I'm glad that your first day on them was better. Relationship problems are the worst!. I will be keeping both of you in my thoughts and prayers.

I am continuing with the 5% Challenge this January. If any one is interested in signing up you can go to the link at the end of this post

It is a great way to lose 5% of your weight while taking virtual trips around the world and meeting weekly challenges. It is a lot of fun and you meet lots of great people along the way!! When you go to the link, scroll down to the body of the page and look under Pick Your Winter Team !! There are instructions on how to proceed from there.

I spent a lovely day with my son, daughter in law and their son Hayden yesterday. We made it a family day of football and food. My daughter Jeni and her son Micah were there too. The cousins played hard together all day. I had a wonderful time and look forward to doing it again next weekend. I stayed within my calorie ranges and still had a lot to eat between the veggies and flank steak that we barbecued. It was a great day with great people.

Sending positive energy and (((HUGS))) to all of you who need them. I hope that you all have a great week ahead of you. Take care and God bless, Deb emoticon emoticon

*hugs H* I'm sorry you lost a friend... I will be keeping you and your family in my thoughts.

First day on Latuda mentally was good. I woke up early and I'm not tired yet. I just hope I can sleep tonight and I'm not going manic. I wrote a long post yesterday and today it's gone. I guess I can cover it in my blog.

Got a double punch to the gut in the last three days.

The dog's pathology came back--he has lupus. Not sure how we are going to treat it until next week when we find out if he has the systemic (like humans get) or the other version that only affects the skin. .

Then today I found out that a good friend died early this morning from a heart attack.

This week sucks--there are stronger words that I will leave out. I am declaring this week over and done with. I am glad that Link the dog likes pettins, which make me happy

I'm starting a couple of new meds tonight- a sleeping pill and Latuda. I have heard good things about it and I'm hoping it works. It was time for me to cut out the Haldol since I was hallucinating more. I don't have any plans for tomorrow, so if they really make me sleep I can sleep in. This year has been really hard on me and I'm trying my best to stay with Geo. He and I agreed that if we are still having problems with our relationship next October when our lease runs out that we would break up. It's really hard on me and I just hope we can do this.

I hope that Link is okay. I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers. I know what it is like to have a friend for life. My lab, Gus, was my best friend for over 20 years, before we had to say good bye. Hopefully, his lump is benign. Wow, so many people I know are having trouble with their Prozac - including my daughter. The Prozac stopped working for her too and her doctor put her back on Zoloft. I hope that it will give her the relief that she needs. I went into my mental health physician today. They upped my Trazodone and are giving me some Ambien to use occasionally at night when I am not sleeping properly. My depression meds are working just fine, so no tweaking there. I do have some heavy duty anxiety, but I am exercising for that. Have a very happy Veteran's Day !! Have a safe and careful weekend. Sending positive energy and (((HUGS))) to all of you. Take care and God bless, Deb emoticon emoticon

Isn't it strange how different two different companies' pills act so different? You would think there would be a requirement for stricter equivalencies, but not yet.

I'm also having Prozac issues as well. They only had the blue/orange and green /cream pills in stock this time around and they make me feel really out of it.

I'm losing my mind... I have to talk to my psych about changing my meds. Halodol stopped working and the Prozac is not helping much. I have a lot of trouble with my memory, short term and long term. I sometimes freeze in the middle of a word and get stuck there and I just stop. I sit somewhere and just stare at the wall like I couldn't move. I have to get help from my psych tomorrow. This is not acceptable.

Yesterday I took my dog in to the vet to get rid of an obviously painful small lump.

It wasn't a familiar lump for the doc so he took out a little more tissue around it to be safe. Originally I had decided that they didn't need to send it in for pathology, but the doc highly suggest that we get it tested. Now I am worried. I won't get the report until I take him back to get the stitches out. Quite the scar for a little quarter of an inch lump.

Link, the dog, is very displeased about not being allowed to lick the stitches or roam freely in and out of the house. I, on the other hand, am VERY happy that I have pet insurance, since the pathology report right around $200 and the rest of the fees were about $175. Ouch. Oh well, it is paid for (first by me, then by the insurance) so I can't really complain.

Now worry--that I can do. I have ten days to stew. I want to hear basic boring news. Nothing interesting. He is my keeper, my alarm clock, three year old pest. And I love him. Nothing interesting allowed. Life has had enough interesting for a long while.

I wish I really had something uplifting or earth shattering to say today, but I don't. It's been a rough week or so. I'm going to blame it on SAD.

The weekend has been pretty stressful. Saturday, Isis knocked one of Xena's teeth out, and yesterday the hit her in the head with a chunk of concrete and left a pretty decent sized gash. Anxiety is at a high and patience is just about gone. Also have had a throbbing headache since last Monday. Not quite migraine quality, but the length of it is quite irritating it. It's too strong for just Aleve, but not bad enough for my Percocet. I did try a Percocet Saturday night hoping for relief, but it just left me feeling high and drugged. When I've got a real migraine, it just eliminates the pain and doesn't have any other side effects.

Hi everybody,

I am keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers. It sounds like there is a lot going on with everybody!! I am so sorry that it is so negative for everyone.

Justpeachyga, Larissa and Hmattax, I am so sorry that you are all having medication issues right now!! That is the worst !!

Justpeachyga, things will get better. It just takes time and medication tweaks to reach that happy medium. We all have trouble managing our symptoms from time to time. Identifying those triggers are important for your future health and well being, so you are doing important work on your management skills.

Larissa, your dinner last night sounds great !! I hope that you can get your meds under control too. Sometimes it takes so long to work these medication glitches out. I have enjoyed the 5% Challenge this Fall. As ROOKIES we have had an up and down time of it, as have all the groups I'm sure. Sometimes it isn't about how much you have lost, but about how much better you feel !! I have also picked up some self esteem along the way, as well. We are renaming our group, so that we can continue on in the Winter Challenge as a team. The new ROOKIES Team will be reserved for new comers.

Hmattax, I can commiserate with you too. I have been where you are and know how uncomfortable and how miserable it can be to work backwards for awhile. I had such a hard time getting back from agoraphobia. To have had it all under control and to back slide has to be hard to take. I hope that tweaking your meds will have a very positive effect on you !! Congratulations on being able to give those pants away !! It sure does feel good when you can do that.

I am wishing you all a wonderful week and a really great Monday to start it all off on. Sending you all positive energy and (((HUGS))) because you need them. Take care and God bless, Deb emoticon emoticon emoticon

I had ribs last night for dinner so the scale was up again today. I feel like I'm trying to lose weight but not trying hard enough. I'm in a 5% weight loss challenge and I've only lost a pound *(which I regained again). Tonight, though, it was baked chicken with corn. We have good food to eat, we just need to buy healthy food. I went to the store yesterday and skipped all the sweets so we have none here. I hope I can keep it this way.

Double writing now since I already posted to the how ya feeling board. I am having trouble going outside for any reason. Mail, groceries...walking. All of it. It has been over three years since I have gotten like this. My doc and I were playing with meds over the past month and everything was going alright till the past week. Arg!

I can almost guarantee that it is due to hormones but there is nothing I can do about that right now except wait. I have pushed it a couple of times--bread,eggs, and meds in the mail. If I don't watch it I go directly into panic mode. Dammit. Can't these brainz just settle down and behave!

I haven't been out to walk since I got back from South Dakota for hunting. I broke my multi-month streak of exercise while going out of town. I still managed to not gain weight and even lost some after getting back. Early in the week I weighed 206. Now I am at 208. I know that two pounds don't really make a difference, but it sure seems like it.

Despite that, I have managed to give away my pants from when I started this 22 pounds (and size 22) ago. It felt good! But I still feel like a failure for gaining back weight that I have lost. It'll pass. It better pass. At least I am staying within the calorie range. At least it is a start.

I'm so sorry Diane. That must be tremendously hard. My meds aren't right either but we have also identified major triggers as partly to blame and me not being on top of maintenance needed for bipolar. It seems to be a constant storm over here. Could your mom possibly also be a trigger?

I've been going through some hard times. My mom is frail and falling all the time, even with her walker. I'm home now (she lives in north FL) and I'm going to see her for Thanksgiving. She has Parkinson's and doesn't really want help. I can't stay up there for too long without going crazy. Geo and I made an agreement that if things are not better by next year when the lease is up that we would part ways. I have been trying my best but my meds aren't working. I think I'm going to go talk to my neighbor if she is home.

I've missed you guys! So much going on around here and I'm just fed up with constant mood swings. I'm making changes though. I've deactivated my FB account and started a secret one for my group events. I've blocked family members so that they can no longer trigger me. I've changed my schedule (yet again) to incorporate exercise in the AM then doing homeschool afterwards with my daughter. I've just let go of trying to play catch up with 7th grade homeschool lesson planning and just going to go with the flow with what we've currently. Feeling better since taking the 7th grade lesson planning off of me so that I can begin planning for 8th grade. So... a lot's been going on.

Halloween was actually not too bad for us over here. Daughter finally went with a friend she really connects with and was at peace about not being able to most of the candy due to her allergies. We "bought" the candy she couldn't have from her. She enjoyed her costume. So, not too bad.

Sorry yours wasn't that great Audrey and sorry the kiddos have been causing such headaches lately. SP Mail me anytime you need to vent! I totally get it :-)

Trick or treating didn't go too well for us this year. The girls got tired it after just a few houses. I don't care really though. Little brats don't deserve any candy. They've been rotten the past few days. I can hardly stand it.

Hi everybody !! I hope that your Halloween was a great one and that the kids scored with their treats! I know that Micah did really well. We are looking forward to Thanksgiving this year. Micah and I will be baking Grandma a birthday cake, so that we can have it on Thanksgiving for my birthday. I am turning 65 on Thanksgiving Day. A special day on a special holiday. I am officially a senior citizen on the 24th, but I don't seem to be feeling any older. Fall is definitely here in the Pacific Northwest. We have had so much rain lately. The month of October we registered 18"+ for rainfall. Our normal rainfall is 7.56 inches for this time of the year. We are literally drenched almost every day. Well, maybe we can help California with their drought if we get flooded this year. That would be a nice thing. I hope that you are having a great week!! Have a terrific weekend and an awesome day on Friday. Sending positive energy and (((HUGS))) to all that need them. Take care and God bless, Deb emoticon

Whoops. Looks like time got away from me!

Happy November everyone!

What do you have going on??

We celebrated my step-dad's 55th birthday on Tuesday. Yesterday was Xena's dance class, and the church had their bereavement mass. It made things interesting. We've been looking at a house, but after lots of consideration, we think it would be more headache than it's worth.
