My other "addiction" is bulimia and anorexia. I'm doing okay with them. I did kinda purge the other night so I'm back to square one. But slowly I'm getting better.

You mean alcohol addiction? Yeah. I self medicated with alcohol for years without knowing that I was doing that, until it created a dependence. I still struggle in lonely and stressful times!

I didn't mean hospitals are like home. That was a typo!! I meant, I hope I don't have to go again!! Hospital s especially state psych hospitals are so confining
. and they watchede almost every minute of the day. Better than the ones in town as at least I got put of the building!! They don't even have enough staff here to take anyone to the courtyard

I also have Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and chronic migraines. Not to even count the mental stuff- bipolar 1, schizophrenia, PTSD and borderline personality disorder. I'm going through Geodon withdrawals- cold sweat, tired, hallucinations, dizzy, nightmares... I'm okay as long as I have Geo. I don't need to go to the hospital unless I need to go to the ER. I've been out of the mental hospital for almost 4 years now and I'm not going for some small withdrawals. If I do need to go to them mental hospital, I will go. But I don't need to yet.

Are you physically sick from withdrawal from Klonopin or do you have other issues I don't recall? A couple years ago I pretty much stopped all my meds and ended up so sick, physically and mentally. I ended up spending 8 weeks in 3 different hospitals. The last one was a state hospital for 5 weeks. Not a place I like to spend time at and home i don't have to again any time soon or ever would be better.

I have some chronic illnesses besides my mental illness that I take meds for, so it is pretty important to take all my meds correctly!! Not just my psych meds.

Glad to hear you are doing better. Always nice when we can get off a prescription med.

Have a great weekend!

I have been trying this form of therapy that is working for me. When something triggers me (anger, depression, etc) I take time to acknowledge it and let it go. While it doesn't work on the first try, over and over again I do it until I can move on. It's helped me through a violent movie and through a woman yelling at me at the bus stop (She was saving a seat for her husband, but i didn't hear and sat down and she started yelling). I was very shaken at first and wanted to break down and cry, since I didn't mean it. I'm almost completely over that now. My sleep has been better with Valerian root and Sleepytime tea and I'm using less klonopin. I may be physically sick, I feel mentally healthy!

I got a nice surprise on Valentines day.... Normally with Geo and I, I always say "'I love you" first, if it's goodnight, on the phone, whenever. On Valentines day he said it first and it just made my day. It's such a small thing but it really made me feel special.

I think that, of course, we should be doing special things for our SO all year around... but that having a holiday dedicated to love is very sweet. Sometimes we get so busy and complacent that a day like Valentine's Day or an anniversary is a huge help to get us to remember how special our relationships are.

I think that's even better than celebrating Valentine's Day. Isn't it silly that we do something special for our SO on the same day everyone else is?

Rob works Monday thru Friday... and much to my dismay does overtime on Saturday, so I had him home on Valentine's Day but not President's Day. We didn't really do anything to celebrate either though. Kept Xena home from CCD on Sunday because of the wind chill, and yesterday she was off school.

I am divorced, 20 years, but I had the best Valentine's Day with my niece and my three great nephews. My niece and her two boys got me a sock monkey. It doesn't look like they usually do. It has short legs. I also got to see my other great nephew that lives here in Billings. My great nephews are growing into awesome young men!! I am a very proud aunt to them all.

Sorry you were not able to spend either day with your husband FITFORMEANDTHEM (Sarah)

The gift I got wasn't food. So that was great. My niece did buy some fudge and I tried a few small slices of a few kinds. It was wonderful, but I didn't go overboard!!

President's day was full of packing boxes and listening to the wind and rain. Today looks nicer although still possible for rain/show showers before Noon.

It is not typical for Montana and we will probably have more winter weather. It is just too nice in February for winter to be over even though the groundhog didn't see his shadow.

Have a nice day. And let me know how your neck of the woods is weather wise!!

How did everyone enjoy their President's Day and Valentine's Day? Did anyone actually get a day off or any rest? My husband still had school and so much homework he couldn't even spend time with us when he was home. He worked all of Valentines day and night so we still haven't really had any time together for that, either.

I use Klonopin for sleep.. my psych gives it to me for anxiety because she doesn't think I need a sleeping pill. It can take hours for me to fall asleep, but then I sleep for 12 hours. She said anyone sleeping that much doesn't need a sleeping pill. She also recommended Valerian root to help me fall asleep and it really does. You just need to relax yourself and then it kicks in.

Happy Valentines Day! Geo and I didn't do anything special.. that's just the way we are.

They told me it worked better if you take it daily and you just always have it in your system. I took a trial dose last night and I did sleep better but I also got kind of loopy and barely remember having a conversation with my husband, which I don't like. I don't mind the idea of having it around for specifically bad days, but I think I don't want to take it on a regular basis.

I just use Klonopin as needed. They told me I could use it to help me sleep besides just for anxiety attacks, but I'm leery of it for much the same reason. Also because I breastfeed. The less I take the better. The Lamictal is bad enough. I'm trying to wean her, but the threat of withdrawal for her is scary. They wouldn't let me take anything at all when I was nursing my oldest, but the bipolar symptoms combined with postpartum depression from her had me on it through most of the pregnancy with Isis. Even if I formula fed from the beginning she'd have suffered with it. I keep hoping she'll decide to be done with it. At the very least, she'll start pre-K next year, so maybe the 5 hours away from me will let her drop it.

Congratulations CANES4EVER63! That's really amazing!

I am having trouble with my plan. I stick to it really well for a couple days and then something always seems to come up - like, today, I seem to have a cold.

I also just got prescribed Klonopin 2x a day, but I am afraid to take it. The weight gain, possible worse acne, and addictive qualities of it have me nervous!

I've been off risperidone for about 2 months now and went to the GP this week - they weighed me twice because they didn't believe the loss! YAY! I'm glad my mood has been stable without the meds too!

Sarah,
Remember after surgery you need to heal. Don't start exercising before you are ready! It sounds like you already know that. Good for you doing another 5 K yesterday. My knees and spine arthritis make it impossible for me to run. Too high impact. I do walk some and with a bigger apartment and spring and summer coming I hope to get outside more. I fell on the ice almost 3 weeks ago and I am still recovering. I threw out my back and have been going to the chiropractor. I went once last week and will go twice this week. It really does help. I could use a good massage, but I am too busy to get one right now. I have a fabulous LMT I see. She does a deep tissue massage and it is wonderful.

I hope your surgery isn't extensive. And that your healing time is not long. But usually they say 6 weeks. Give it time.

Have a great week Sarah!! Will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers!!

Thanks guys! I made it to the gym yesterday and did my 5K. I am trying to get as healthy as I can before the first week of March because I am having surgery March 3rd. Sadly, after surgery I will have to start my workouts from scratch because I will have lost most of my built up strength during recovery.

I don't need my inhaler most of the time, but I get it refilled anyway. This way I have one in my purse, one in my gym bag, and one by my bed. I just got most of my meds today, so hopefully I will have a good night.

Sarah, great job at the gym! I need to get off my butt and start going again myself. Keep up the good work!

Ezz, I will be keeping you in my thoughts. *hugs*

Diane - $120 for a 2 line plan is awesome! Ours is $216. Also with T-mobile, but it's 2 lines unlimited talk/text/data, plus another data line and the monthly payments on 2 phones and an iPad.

I cut down on my travel along pharmacy. I just carry my klonopin, lidocaine (for migraines) and some Aleve. I really need to get my inhaler back in my purse.

Larissa,
You sound like me. I always have my alarm set to take a pill. I have to wait two hours between calcium and pills. I take pills in the morning. Calcium at noon. Klonopin at 2 pm. Calcium at 5pm and evening meds at
7:30 pm. Then right before I go to bed I take my Trazodone. Wow!! That is my routine every day. I have to for my quality of life! Glad I have a smart phone with an alarm on it. Not sure how I would remember otherwise.

Hope the party is fun. Did you think about bringing a veggie tray. Then u could know there would be something healthy. I love pizza. In fact it is a toss up between pizza and dark chocolate being my favorite food!! Difference is...I do eat dark chocolate and hardly ever eat pizza anymore.

Is your team in the Superbowl?? I am from Wisconsin and will always be a Green Bay Packer fan! They were in there prime and won regularly when I was young. We watched them every time they played.

Have a great day!

Geo and I have been on the same phone plan for years and years. For a bit we were on my mom's phone plan, but we broke off that and went back to T-Mobile. We got a great deal... $120 for the both of us, with unlimited talk, text, and data. I love not worrying about minutes or data. LOL I sound like a T-Mobile commercial!

I'm going to a Super Bowl party at my in-laws and I hope they have something healthy to eat.. my stomach has been acting up and I don't know if I can tolerate pizza. I guess I just have to bring all my stomach pills. I travel with my own personal pharmacy- klonopin, ibuprofen, Fiorecet (for migraines), Vicodin (for Geo), Prilosec, you name it. I just never know when Geo and I need something.

"treated" myself to a new phone today. Technically, it's hubby's doing. I messed up my charger port Thursday evening so he took me to upgrade. We wound up merging our plans and each getting a new phone. It isn't costing any less, but at least it's not costing us any more. And now it's the convenience of one bill instead of 2. 9 years we'll be married this year, and just now we move into the same phone plan, lol.

I'm treating my body well! Continuing to eat right and workout.

I skyped with my mom yesterday and she asked how I'm doing not being on meds and I told her I have more energy and feel better - she said I looked more animated! It was great to hear that. I'm starting to actually lose weight again as well. I stopped the risperidone in early Dec and the gabapentin in mid Dec (after 2 months of tapering!). I "only" lost about 8 lbs between mid Dec and Feb 1, but the GP and psych said it would take about 2 months for the affects of the risperidone to leave my system. I'm hoping for a bigger loss in Feb, but we'll see. I really want to get back to my old weight, but I know it'll take time. I'm glad my mood has been stable though. I never had a true bipolar diagnosis, so it's great to see that I'm actually better right now compared to before I started the meds - I think my work environment was just too toxic for me and it started to mess with me. And then becoming manic off of a drug that has NO known side effects of doing that? I don't know. It was obviously medicine induced, but the theory was that it eliminated all of the stress/anxiety/overthinking/overanalyzing that I do on a normal basis and uncovered my "true" manic side. Whatever, haha.
