I have been stable for about 13 years now. I agree that it takes time to find the right combination.

Medication roulette is never fun. It took me years and years to find the right combo. I've been stable now for a year... I'm on 20mg Prozac, 4mg congentin,20mg Haldol, 200mg Seroquel. I think that Seroquel was the key. I've had great luck with it. Just keep on trying and know there's a combo that will make you steady too, and I've lost about 30 pounds in the last year. I know how scary it is to see your weight go up... I hate how pills make you hungry all the time.

Well, I was wrong. I was 240lbs in January and now I am 260lbs, as of yesterday. After all the work I did with exercising and keeping the sweets etc. out of the house. I didn't make a difference. Latuda put 15lbs on me in 3 months. That was my last doctors visit on her scale.

My psych doc and I are going to try to work out something. It's wrecking havoc with my knees, which are replacements, and my self esteem. I've worked so hard to get down from 400lbs and I will not get that large again, just to be stable.

We're gonna try Topomax, I think. More med adjustments, more money. I'm just getting tired of the whole thing.

That's a good tip, Lora, about the candy bar. I should do that. I have chocolate covered espresso beans that I have every now and then for a chocolate craving, but that frozen candy bar sounds good too.

As for the original poster, a lot of people have weight problems on medication. I know mine (and my bad decisions about food) made me balloon to almost 300 pounds. I decided I needed to get on track and get serious about weight loss. I managed to lose about 50 pounds before got money and a car and ate out every day. I'm working to combat that weight gain now.. it's up and down with me. I don't know how much my medications have to do with it.... I raised my Haldol and now I'm hungry all the time. I feel like crying at night when I'm hungry but can't let myself eat. I know that's not good, but I just can't keep gaining weight.

I've been on lexapro and topomax and they seem to work so if that doesn't help ask your doc about this combo topomax besides being a mood stabilizer helps the weight. lexapro is also a mood stabilizer its helped me keep the weight off but keeping the sweets out helps. I also have a trick by keeping a frozen candy bar in the freezer and when it hits i slice of a piece and that's all i eat a nutriionist gave me that trick. hope it helps emoticon

I've been on Latuda for a long time, on a pretty high dosage now. I find myself getting VERY hungry sometimes. Even after I've already eaten. I also have become very irritable in the mornings, before they have had their full chance to set in properly.

Keeping all sweets out of the house has helped me and moving at least 5 days a week, doing something also helps to keep me from putting on weight.

I'm watching my food intake and keeping my snacks to nuts and dried fruit. Filling up on water also helps, but I find I need to flavor it lately.

I've been on the higher dosage for almost a week now, so we'll see where I am next month. Hoping it continues to work well on the moods, although I have had some low ones and some manic ones over the past few days.

Looking for some stability. Hoping this will help.

I don't think I've gained anything, the needle keeps going to the same number every time I weigh. Would like to lose, but feel like the med might keep that from happening.
