What do you think about reviving this thread? Setting goals long term and short term makes us accountable not only to ourselves but everyone on the thread.

I have set new goals since re-starting one week ago.

Long-term: I want to loose 40 pounds by Christmas this year.

After a doctor's appt. this past week discussing my bladder issue I was told that if I loose just 20 pounds I could avoid surgery...so this is my short-term goal...to loose that 20 pounds as quickly and safely as possible. Means I need to amp up my exercise...which right now is nothing. I have started walking down the hill to my mailbox once per day as per my doctor...will build up to at least 3 times a day in one month. I have knee issues and going down puts a lot of pressure on them so I have to re-build their strength.

My short term goal is to lose 5 lbs by Feb 8. That gives me a little over 2 weeks.
My long term goal is to be down 20 lbs by my wedding June 21st. Which would take me down a pant size :D

I think I can manage these things just have to get my butt in gear.

May you always dance to the music that lives in your heart. Be you and be beautiful!

I weighed myself today and I'm at 221.4! I lost 3 pounds in 4 days. I'm hoping by Sunday I can be out of the 220's and on my way to my goal!

As of yesterday, I am 2lbs. down! That leaves 3lbs. to lose by 2/16 and I'll have met my short term goal! So, we'll see. I fluctuate so much so I'm hoping!

Exercising an average of 10 min. a day and I hope to up that too but right now, I'm concentrating on my eating.

New short term goal is to exercise 15 min. a day 5x/week. Starting tomorrow. Worked out 12 minutes today to a SP video.

Just2, I know what you mean. I was on Lamictal and it made me hallucinate and my doctor hadn't even heard of that before, so I found an article from the American Psychiatric Journal or something like that. She didn't want to believe me until I showed her there.

Yes, I was on Ability for 12 YEARS, but it did clear up my delusional thinking. DBT & WRAP were also essential tools. Glad you mentioned WRAP!

But 70 lbs. gained on Ability (was put on it way back when it still said it was "weight neutral" yet everyone in my support group gained weight on it). They really test these new meds on us, the public.

Now that I am off that *&$%^& Abilify that was putting a damper on my motivation, I am cautiously optimistic and will be working on reformulating ALL of my goals and my Life Plan, which has been gathering dust on my desk.

It's amazing what a simple medication adjustment can do.

I like to use The Wellness and Recovery Action Plan by Mary Ellen Copeland. It's very detailed, but once it is in place, it is a great and very helpful tool.

My short - term goal is to get back into doing SOME exercise daily. My chronic pain issues have taken over my life & I need to start taking it back (according to docs at Mayo Clinic). I KNOW exercise is supposed to help give me energy & lift my depression, but I am so exhausted even when taking Concert a & Providing in the morning. I just don't want to get out of bed & have to schedule doc appts. as late as possible as sometimes even getting g to a 3:00 therapy appt. is hard!

So short-term: 20 minutes of exercise a day

Long-term: 60 minutes a day (which I can do & longer when hiking in Sedona!)

Plus it would really be good for me to get out of bed way earlier. 9:30 now & still falling back asleep. Sometimes this goes on until 1:00 p.m. even & I have to take caffeine pills to wake up.

Ever tried? Ever failed? No matter. Try again. Fail again.

great goals, ladies!

Larissa, I think you and I are on the same plateau! I'm waving at you..Lol. emoticon We always seem to hit around the same weight at the same time. It must be that connection we have. emoticon . I like your goal, though and You Got That!! I want to see you in Onderland SO bad and I want to be on that plateau with you too! And remember, onderland and I'm bound for the sunshine state! Remember the deal?

Ayla, you have a great goal too. Very realistic. I like that. You can do it. Sometimes it takes time and trials but they'll get it right. I've been through med hell and back and finally it's right so don't give up. I've heard Abilify does that so it's def for the best that you got off. Your weight goals are very realistic too...perfect! emoticon

I'm glad u guys liked the thread! I think we should keep it going. I know I'm going to have fun with it. If u guys ever need someone to talk to who's "been there" medicine wise, mood wise, weight wise...feel free to drop me a line. I'm always on now. I've been dealing with my weight since childhood. My biggest was 260 and my smallest was 145. What a spectrum, huh? I've been dealing with bipolar since my teens but not diagnosed til 20. I'm now 38. If I can be of help, please don't hesitate to ask. Looking forward to getting to know everybody better!

I just weighed myself and I weigh 192.6. My short term goal is to be under 190 by Feb. 1st and my long term goal is to be under 150 by Summer 2015.

I was just taken off Abilify because it was causing massive fluid overload despite taking TWO diuretics!! It also had me creeping up on the weight, going from 175 to 192 lobs since last March.

My short term goal as far as mood management is to stay stable without the Abilify, and long term I will be working with my Doc to find a new cocktail regimen.

Thanks for setting up the new thread Courtney!

I thought starting a goals topic may be a good idea. I know we used to have this on here before so I thought about bringing it back. I'll start.
My short term goal is---Lose 5lbs. by 2/16
My long term goal is---Lose 25lbs by summer

Since I set a date to my short term, I can update and see how I'm doing. Good idea? Just let me know. Setting goals, I think, is important. It gives u something to aim for. Don't make them unattainable though or you'll just discourage yourself. Set them realistically and have fun with it.

Courtney
