Hi Ladies! I haven't had internet for along time and today I am using my Daughter's. I have been having symptoms and going between high and lows the PDr. increased my Latudia to 40mg and it did make some difference. Happy 4th of July are you all having picnics and going to the fireworks tonight? so far I'm just visiting my Daughter's family then going over to my parents for awhile then home. The weather has been ok and rain only a few of them. My free time is about to come to an end school is getting ready to start so I start to sit with the Grandkids 4 days a week. It's nice to see them so often but I get very tired. Wish you all well and I try to get back on sparkpeople. Lucinda

I will do my best to meet and surpass my goal. Never stop learning or trying to achieve success. Never give up keep plugging away. If it is to be it's up to me. .

Got a call for an interview but had to decline because it was in Raleigh where the interview was and I am not travelling that far just for that. Other than that my day has been great.

Well I thought working would help my diet since I don't have time to sit around and want for food, but it has done damage to my diet. I have gained 3 pounds since I started working. The weird thing is that I haven't eaten anymore than I usually do. I wonder if it is the stress of learning a new job that has me gaining weight.

I am exhausted. I just got a job and I worked 7.5 hours on Saturday and will be working another 8 hours on Sunday. Who knew you can lose 2000 calories by just standing and walking around and mopping and sweeping. Well I did. It is awesome. I am still going to exercise in the morning though.

I'm doing good today so far... I had a bit of trouble sleeping last night and had to take a sleep klonopin. I ended up falling asleep around 1am. I woke up around 12:30 this afternoon (which is when I normally get up). I need a ton of sleep or else I go manic. It sucks to lose so much of my day, but it's better than the alternative.

there's no they sorting anything out .. doc says keep taking the medication .. that what i'm experiencing isn't effect of that new med ... which is to treat fibromyalgia ... well i felt 100 times worse on the med ... going to take a few days off of it and if i feel better i'm not going to take any more. probably stop trying altogether. go the healthy lifestyle route. it's manageable

i've been slacking this week b/c feel like total hammered crap with everything from ear ache to water retention and swollen feet and every fiber of my being screaming out in pain. and yet the doc doesn't believe it's the new fibromyalgia medication I started Mon night. ugh.

supermodel - glad the wildfire got under control. i don't know the details but there's fire retardant stuff that can be sprayed on buildings and shrubs. and lots of other preventative measures that can be done. double check your home owners or renters insurance policies to make sure fire damage is covered. sometimes that's an add-on ... like earthquake ins in Cali is additional policy with own premium. and no you're not a horrible mom. everyone needs and deserves a break.

*hugs Model* I'm glad that you and your family are safe. It's nice of your mom to take the kids for a couple of days. I hope you get some time to ride your bike.

I saw my psych yesterday and he took me off the Risperdal and I think I'm going to ask him to raise my Haldol since I'm having a bit of breakthrough hallucinations. I was a bit depressed this morning, but it passed.

Hi everyone, this month has been really stressfull, than kinda depressing for me. We live in Co. + there are a lot of wildfires happening here. On 6/13 we evacuated our house and stayed at my Mom's for a few days. The fire came very close to our house, about 6 miles away. Luckily they were able to get it under control and 100% contained. It was so stressfull, then after we got back home, I feel like I should have been happy but I got depressed and haven't had any motivation to do anything or go anywhere. I have been very good with my eating though. I am going to the PDoc tomorrow but I don't want to increase anything. One of the pills makes me so tired. My MIL is taking the kids for a few days! I can't wait, I so need a break lol I sound like a horrible Mom. But I just need time for myself and to be with my husband, I want to go for a ride on my mountain bike dammit, but haven't had the opportunity.

Carrie, I feel for you. Geo is supportive of me losing weight, but does nothing to help himself. He got weighed at the doctor and he's at an all time high of 571 pounds. He's 6 foot 7 inches, so he doesn't look that much, but he is. I'm losing weight and he's proud of me, but I worry about him. He and I used to eat so much fast food I went through a ton of money. I gained back 20 pounds that I worked my butt of to lose. I need to get back on track and start losing weight again.

I did another 10 minutes of chair exercise. I was very proud of myself. My husband has been very discouraging, pointing out how many things I have started and then quit. I think this will be different because of this team. I needed some understanding friends. Thank you all for being here! Carrie emoticon

My doctor's appointment yesterday with my pdoc went great. I got some stuff off of my chest and felt better afterward. We didn't increase or decrease anything as my medicine is doing the trick at the present time.

Hi everyone. Yesterday went better since my pdoc has increased my antidepressant. I have been with him for 5 years, so he can see when I am having problems even when I won't admit it. Did some chair exercise. That is all I can do at this point, and had fun playing fetch with the dogs. Carrie emoticon

Today I went to Burger King with Geo to avoid the inspectors that were coming to look at random apartments. I have been eating low on my calorie range to make sure I could enjoy myself there. I'm going to try and go for a walk soon... just waiting for it to cool off first. I don't know what I'm going to have for dinner... maybe spaghetti and a bit of chicken. I don't mind eating pasta for dinner. I love my carbs, but I know I have to be careful with them.

i wouldn't call it car problems. it's a problem. it exists. we've tried changing it and getting things fixed. but they pumped it full of freon (the cooling agent) and then charged mom a ton of money ... then when it didn't work they were like oops guess the compressor motor is broken. ARRRGGHGHHH that's a problem .. it's a topic i won't let anyone discuss

life goes on. windows down. blower on vent unless gets halfway point on temp guage then goes on defrost and in scarier times on defrost with heater on full blast. yea that's fun when it's 100 degrees in the shade and no wind and 100% humidity.

anyways moving on ...

i've decided to stay up and watch some Suits before the premiere in july

I'm sorry you have car problems, Kim... Our car isn't that great right now... it's been overheating and we need a new coolant system. As long as we drive short distances it's okay, but on long distances it's not good.

Today was good... went with Geo to physical therapy and supported him there... then went to the store to pick something up for lunch. We are doing good on avoiding fast food. Tomorrow we are going to go out to avoid the possible apartment inspection. I hope they don't choose us.. the room is a mess. The rest of the house looks good, but the room is bad. I just don't want to clean. It's getting me into another depression. *sigh* Hopefully on Saturday when I go to my mom's I will be feeling better.

howdy. did monday go ok for everyone?

i got some rest. DBT went really well. way too hot on the drive home. i swear my car is like a microwave with pure flames shooting out the vents. it's actually cooler to turn the blower off or on defrost. and air doesn't seem to blow in from the outside when the windows are down. ugh. had to wait for traffic lights too with the sun broiling me. oh well.

made it home and it's cool with the fans on. ate some yummy sirloin burgers i put together with some seasoned broccoli. and just a bowl of dad-hand-picked raspberries.

Kim, I remember you posting about those hives all the time. I'm so glad that they found out what was wrong. I use the depo shot and it works wonderfully for me. I don't get my period, so I don't have the mood swings and all the fun stuff that comes with it. I would have horrible PMS, cramps, heavy flow...it was just hell for me. So I'm so glad I can skip it.

i agree with Leighsdragon about letting your body set the pace and distance. i started out barely strolling a half mile on mostly flat ground. that was a 9 months ago. now i start out up hill (the same hills that would leave me bent over gasping for air like a fish out of water) and fast walk a couple miles. pace improves over time. if you'd told me last year i was going to walk almost 4 miles while my car was getting fixed ... or participate in a 5K (3.1 miles) with a party atmosphere jumping up and down for an hour at the start line ... i would have definitely laughed and had you committed.

so as i've read numerous places ... your really difficult workout today might become your warmup routine later.

welcome GrungeGoddess. great job on plan thus far! have you looked into getting an IUD? i'd been on monthly bcp from age 17 to 33 then switched to the seasonique. well 4+ years of unexplained horrible hives later a doctor finally mentioned that hormones can trigger allergy attacks. so Oct last year i stopped the daily pills and got Mirena. within two weeks all the hives stopped which was/is AMAZING!!

Lately I've been hungry all the time and eating crap, but in the past couple of days it's worn off. I'm taking a rest day today... I pushed yesterday with the cardio and my legs are sore from squatting and cleaning. So I'm just taking a rest day (except for more cleaning lol)

I am glad I found this page. I have been on this site for a year next month. I have lost 30lbs with only really putting in effort for half that time. I have been on the right med cocktail for 2 years in August. I am a complete 180 from where I was before that, but I still have highs and lows. I still can't always admit when I am depressed because it's not a total low like before and I expect extremes. Though I can tell when I'm flying. Routine changes really mess me up with my health and fitness and stress is a big trigger. My hormones also affect my mood. I have been trying to find the right birth control to help regulate that. I also seem to have a 2 month/20 lb wall, though I have kinda busted it this time around. I feel like I am real life changes. We can do this!!!

I agree. If you push to hard your body will ache and you could seriously injure yourself. It is best to let our bodies tell us what the pace should be and how long we should do it for. I am still only walking 6 blocks. 1.5 miles is good. Really good actually.

I'm doing better today... The depression wasn't too bad. I managed to go for a walk in the evening and it was nice. I did 1.5 miles in 40 minutes. I was hoping to get a better time, but I just have to go with how my body feels.

the Electric Run was awesome!! i did really well. got lots of pictures. i think my time was just a bit over an hour. i didn't wear a watch or my phone so I'm not sure. i was almost done at 60 minutes (if the spectator actually told me the right time). it was lots of fun. am only mildly cramping today but some fatigue was to be expected. ... drinking a Monster and going to get ready to go to Family Day portion of my HS reunion. i can collapse tomorrow :)

I feel like crap this morning. Got up with a headache this morning. Don't know if it is stress related or just a migraine. Fussed with hubby this morning first thing. He quickly corrected me on that one.

I've been dealing with depression and fighting with Geo. Also, my blood pressure has been low, so I've been getting a lot of dizzy spells and feeling like I'm going to faint. I just feel like crap.

My aunt and uncle are doing great. both of them are walking with a walker and are getting stronger every day. I, on the other hand, have been under so much stress that it is affecting my sleep. Getting 6.5 to 7 hours of sleep a night and sometimes take a nap in the afternoon. Maybe it will get better with time. Have started having headaches again also. I think it is due to stress.

busy busy day. felt like all i did was drive around and spend money. oh wait that's kind of what i did. tell me again why people like shopping? thankfully i didn't spend a whole lot. mostly $5-15 transactions. stuff apt needed or stuff for costume tomorrow night. thankful i'm home now. ready to go watch Burn Notice. ... i did get a copy today of my first counselor and psychiatrist ... so now i can finally see when i was diagnosed and all the meds i was on. i've never seen these records from 2001-2004. will be an interesting read i'm sure.

i figure ppl are busy. but after my lack of sugar coated "advice" the other day i didn't want anyone to feel attacked or threatened or something. so i was trying to keep humor involved.

i'm not sure what's going on with Courtney. she hasn't been active here or on FB. i haven't been notified of her losing team leader status yet though. last time she was on here she'd mentioned a hospital stay, lots of med changes, back and hand surgeries, and i don't know what all else. i'm guessing her mom and daughter and construction drama over winter took more of a toll than she expected.

Kim, I've noticed that it's been slow on the boards lately. It's probably just a temporary thing. I've been busy, but I try and post when I can. I don't know what happened to Courtney... her phone is out of order. I sent her a Spark Mail, but she didn't respond. I see her on her phone on Facebook sometime, so I know she's okay, but I don't know why she's not coming on here anymore. I miss her :(

ohoooh boy ... was a busy day for me even before i got home... then TONS of unnecessary drama from a soon to be family member. I am thankful it was over the phone and not in person so no one got physically hurt or arrested. trust me when i say i went from enjoying my [hadn't had any in 25+ years] Shake Shoppe fried foods and milkshakes food coma to cold heartless jaded b-tch in about a second flat. which is scary for anyone who invokes that in me. anyways .. brushing it off and focusing on my email and SP and FB for the day. starting to plan my outfit for Friday's Electric Run. I was telling mom EDM is like my Eye of the Tiger .. I've been training my whole life for this!! every glow stick every ceiling star every neon shirt every patterned socks every spinning glow toys my blacklight tattoo my endless supply of blacklight responsive toys from Waterbeds n Stuff and Spencers ... This Friday is MY night .. i'm ready!! and it's for a healthly 5K celebration. my first 5K actually. not timed. it's a dance experience event all ages. www.electricrun.com if you're not familiar.. which i wasn't until two weeks ago. not to mention in May I got to something I didn't know was possible which was kayak and swim in a Bioluminescent Bay while I was Puerto Rico.

did i scare everyone off? didn't mean to

how about no bread? i don't miss it at all. but I never really ate much of it anyways.

i'm guessing your kitchen is filled with food, yes? well healthy food doesn't mean it costs more than crappy food. i spend the same amount of money or healthier versions of foods I eat .. i actually might be spending less b/c i'm not eating as much all the time.

and no not everything in my kitchen is full on healthy. there are still some ice cream bars (which nutritionally don't suck believe it or not but i didn't know that until I studied the side panel info) and it's built in portion control. one bar is a serving instead of half the giant ice cream container with chocolate syrup and whipped cream. and there's some buffalo wyngz but i'm not eating them everyday (maybe once a week or less) ... i don't really do chips or other products that turn mushy like that b/c it clogs up my bowels. there's way fewer ramen and boxed mac n cheese, no bologna, lean pockets instead of hot pockets, no pizza rolls, there are bananas and watermelon and avocados.

i've never been one for fruits and veggies and salads so i wasn't going to convert myself to them to lose weight either. it's totally possible just by being picky about what you do buy and eat. ... and it's not a bad thing Geo eats your food .. just buy the healthier versions of stuff and you both eat it. stop buying crap stuff. it works way better than you think.

it's really hard to pig out on junk food when there isn't any available.

there's TONS of hidden sodium in foods like salsa, soup, pasta, etc ... but there ARE lower sodium varieties. and fat free and lower sodium on the label doesn't always mean healthier! i've noticed that lower sodium products sometime have higher fat content or lower protein or something ... or added sugar. that's not healthy swapping that's one bad habit for another. you have to decide what's important to you and what allowances and leeways you'll allow.

I try and eat good carbs, but it's hard with Geo around. He eats everything that I like for the most part. He says he hates wheat, but when we run out of bread he eats my whole wheat bagels. I'm thinking of buying wheat bread for myself since we always run out of white bread. He used to hate rice, but now he likes it. I like buying healthy things for myself but it's hard to make them last. Oh well... I do the best I can.

btw i'm not trying to sound know-it-all-ish or accusatory ... just attempting (probably failing) to point out that for days, weeks, months, longer ... i see and hear (from multiple people) [woah is me] and [things are always like this] and [i can't] and [it's so hard] and [don't know why this is this way] .. etc ...

things won't change unless you change them

you will always be at your destination if you don't change

part of this site is to gain knowledge about how to change .. and what to change ... try out different things ... see what works and what doesn't and try new stuff

no we aren't all the same .. and no what has worked for me may not work for you ... but things won't get better unless you try different stuff ... that goes for food, meds, exercise, weight loss, nutrition, etc

you have to put in more effort each day into yourself other than just wanting to change
... you have to be sick of the same ol same ol
... you have to be sick of being sick
... you have to be scared of getting worse
... you have to want to be better
... you have to want to be healthier
... you have to try something new
... you have to not give up
... you have to keep trying

to me, your list looks like a LOT of sodium and heavy carbs .. very little fill-you-up-for-the-long-term foods .. it takes awhile to learn .. but just b/c you eat a lot of food doesn't mean it's the right foods for you ... i also imagine very soon you'll have bathroom troubles

i learned that if i cut out things like bread and ramen and rolls and such and add flour products, avocados, brown rice, and ground flaxseed that it's all the good fats and soluble fiber i need to keep IBS flares to a minimum

Kim, that's a good exercise for you to do. I know that I don't think about the good stuff a lot. I focus on the negative instead of the positives.

I went to the store today and managed to stay under budget. I have only a bit of money left for the month, and our anniversary is the 26th. We are just going to go for a nice dinner and then watch a movie or something.

I've been so hungry lately! I ate a ton of food yesterday and I was still hungry. I had a mini bagel with peanut butter and coffee for breakfast, a roast beef sandwich for lunch, ramen for a snack, spaghetti sauce with ground beef, 2 pork chops with beans for dinner, and then baby carrots and ranch dressing for a night snack and then I had toast around midnight. And I was still hungry! I'm doing better today, but that's because I've only been awake for 3 hours.

my point isn't to focus on where I've been ... it's for each of us to focus on NOW and where we CAN go. but we can't depend on a medication to do it .. we can't depend on someone else to do it. the only way each of us is going to get better.. get healthier .. get stronger .. get a chance at stability and success .. is to DO IT OURSELVES

if you keep mulling over and ruminating and wallowing in the negativity you will spawn more negativity and wear yourself down to nothing. we each must fight for happiness ... for life.... for sanity

emoticon

an exercise we've been doing lately in DBT is a positive gratitude sheet. the first column is feelings for the day. the second column is positive events that happened for the day. (Yes there is ALWAYS something but sometimes you have to DIG for it). and third column is for gratefulness of the day.

Larissa, I finally had to drop out of college after I was diagnosed because there was no way that I could catch up. Now I am taking my last class in Horticulture this summer and am proud of myself for that.

Kim, I know what it is like to go back to the pictures of yesteryear. It can be down right depressing. Just think of the things you have accomplished and what you are doing and it will get better.

Kim, I'm sorry you had to go through that. It's hard reaching rock bottom. I've never been there, but I was constantly suicidal when I was in college. It was hard going to school while being hospitalized all the time.

Leigh, I hope we can help you lose weight. We are here for you!

hi all. kind of sucks all the blahs we seem to be feeling lately. however, no one and no medication is going to bring each of us happier or better. we must do it ourselves. so remember do what you can today ... if you're not sure where to start .. think of what your healthier goal version of you would do ... then do that or at least part of that

i've been having some weird crisis of age lately ... and it's partially bc i'm scanning old photos i found in my teenage bedroom in prep for my 20 year high school reunion on sat... but partially b/c i'm at a weight now that is only about 20lbs if that away from my college weight and possibly my high school weight. i never thought i'd get there. i gave up after the meds ... i gave up after the crisis .. i gave up on life period.

until there was literally no way but up if i was going to keep breathing.

Larissa, thank you for the kind words. I too hope the Lamictal works for me. So far no rash although I am only on .5 mg every morning. I have a med review coming up in a week or so. I would really like to have the mood changes under control soon. This depression is making it hard for me to enjoy the summer with my girls. Which is sad since summer just started for them.

*hugs Leigh* I'm sorry you are down. I hope the Lamictal helps you. I got the rash so I had to stop it before I knew if it worked for me or not. I'm on Haldol and Celexa now. Seems to be doing the trick. I definitely know I'm doing better now on meds than I was off them.

Kinda depressed today, although I did manage to go for a walk. I walked 6 blocks around my neighborhood since my daughter wanted to ride her bike. I just started medications almost a month ago and will be going in soon for a med review and to up my meds. The Lamictal they put me on has to be upped very slowly as it can have a very serious side effect if you don't. I hope things are better tomorrow. Yesterday I got a lot of stuff done and today I feel helpless and hopeless.

I'm a bit down today... my mom had to put her dog down and I miss her. Even though she was a pain (the dog, not my mom lol) she was such a happy dog. She was miserable, though... she had horrible allergies and would scratch until she bled, and the flea stuff didn't help either. So the best thing for her was to be put down. She was old anyway, so that didn't help. *sigh*

hi all. wish i could say it's been a busy week for me but in reality it hasn't been. but that's ok. with sleeping troubles it was good for me to just relax and lay in bed. the storms cooled things down and i finally got my body to relax a little bit. i feel like i can't stop eating now though. trade-off i guess.

Nightwing, you can do this! We can do it together. I've gained back 20 pounds I fought so hard to lose. Nothing to blame it on except my addiction to fast food and not walking.

I do have some good news:

I did it! I resisted the temptation of fast food thanks to Geo! He was hungry and I offered him Wendy's and he said no. I ate my mini bagel before we went to the store, and by the time I was out of the store I was shaking badly like I needed to eat something *now*. I wanted to go get fast food, He said no and instead we went to the next store and I got some tea and a mini can of Pringles. That was enough to get me out of the danger zone and made it home. So I'm at Day 1! You don't know how good it feels!

Frustrated. Weight creeping up. It's my fault, I know it. Can't blame it on anything except over eating and under exercisising. I feel like I too am back at square one.

Been sick recently, labs came back from doc horrible. Have to add 3 pills, take away 1, and then 1 more is a once a week thing.

I feel like I'm on a knife edge. The cycles are more frequent and less predictable. I just hate this.

Kim, that's awesome! Even if you gain a bit back, it's awesome that your scale said 200! I wish I was there.

My scale said 228.4 today. That's 2 pounds up from last week. I need to start measuring myself to see how much is muscle and how much is fat.

hi all. i had a great time last night going out dancing. imbibed a little too much but made it home safe and sound. lost my glasses and one earring it seems but neither were expensive and i can replace the glasses as easily as I bought them online. and it's a good reason to go get the ones from the eye doctor adjusted so that maybe they'll fit more comfortably. and they match my hair :-)

i'm probably hallucinating but I stepped on the scale a little bit ago and it sure did look like it read 200. I haven't been that low since before 2004. it was kind of my goal weight. i usually wait a few days and see if it shows that # a couple of times before I update my trackers.

Have class this morning. It is supposed to be on the warm side so put on a pair of shorts. We finished cleaning out Hubby's room yesterday and it is a much better place to hangout. The kitchen is next followed by the bedroom and my room.

hi all. hope your week is going well. i got a little bit of rest the past couple of nights. i told mom i will probably be awake for most of the next 2-3 weeks. it's pretty much how the cycle goes.

i was getting a ton of long overdue but not terribly important projects done today. it felt great. but then it felt like my soul was sucked away when i stopped everything i was doing to try to explain over the phone to my nephew, his fiance, and my sister how to set up their cell phones with the shared Google calendars...

the call took over an hour and a half b/c they couldn't remember their passwords they used when they created new gmail accounts when they got their phones. and apparently google has all these new security measures in place and ask all kinds of stupid questions like when did you open your account (month, day, year), what was the last password you remember, what other accounts do you use, when was last successful login (month, year). all really goofy crap that she had never set up. eventually we figured out her recovery backup email address was a yahoo account. but she never used it. thankfully she did eventually guess the correct password to it and we got the ball rolling. but YIKES!! and then to top it off Google Sync was having issues/errors and said to try again later. so i still don't know if it is all set up properly or not.

mom told me to tell dad that i earned my ElectricRun entrance fee tonight. he's the one been complaining we don't know what appointments nephew and fiance have or why they are various random places at random times.

my calves hurt from all the walking I did yesterday. I'm just glad I had my walking shoes on and that it wasn't raining. I'm just still exhausted. I just want to curl up in bed and go back to sleep. I had to wake up at 7am to go with Geo to his doctor's appointment. It wasn't fun, but he's going to be going to p/t with me for a couple of days. I took a nap, but it wasn't enough. I might take another one soon. Just for a bit.

Kim, the eggplant parm I get is baked and not deep fried. There is cheese on top, but not a lot. I stretch it out between 2 meals so the calories aren't that bad.

Today i was supposed to go for my depo shot but I found out that the doctor I went to didn't have it on the premises, that I had to go pick it up at the pharmacy. I need to go back on Thursday to get it done. Yay. I got lost in downtown and walked for 30 minutes. I found the place finally and was on time. I just did a ton of walking today, so good for me!

getting things off my todo list. mind feeling clearer bc of it. wish restful sleep would become my friend again.

carol - yay for friend coming to see you. that's great! hope you stay relaxed and have a blast.

exercise is good for many things. mental stability, heart health, lung health, change of scenery, physical strength, better digestion, lower blood pressure, list goes on ... sometimes it's most difficult to figure out what we can do if some options aren't presented.

careful with the zumba. hydrate before during and after. eat something before and after. it's a lot of cardio! i nearly passed out white and shaky both times i've tried it. i'm not going back until i can walk 3+ miles at a stretch. which i'm almost up to but i am still nervous. my body never has liked cardio.

i agree with Carol's suggestions. i park far away from the store door, i walk up and down each aisle even if i don't need anything from that aisle. i pretty much haul butt through baby and snack foods and lawn chairs.

i'm no nutrition expert .. but just b/c it's a vegetable .. eggplant parm is still battered and fried and cheesy and greasy .. as much so if not more than pizza. just my two cents.

I'm ordering dinner tonight, but I'm getting eggplant parm instead of pizza. I have chicken wings I could cook too and I just might do that too. There's just not enough of them for both Geo and I and everything else is frozen solid. So I'm getting my eggplant parm. It's so yummy and it has veggies in it so that helps too. I'm getting hungry thinking about it. Geo just lay down for a nap, so I'm going to give him some time to sleep before I order so he can get a good nap in.

Hi Amanda!

For sure the more sedate and still I am, the more depressed I get. One thing I know about my personal BP2 is that if I get over stimulated then I go hypo-manic. So it's a fine line between the two. But for *certain* our moods pick up even with a short 15 minute walk in the morning and evening.

Try parking out in Egypt at WMart, KMart, grocery store, etc and power walk to and from the door.....then power walk the wagon/cart back to where it belongs. You'll get in at least an easy 5 minutes if not more. Doing anything outside is good - gardening, relaxing in the sun, wash a car, read a book.....anything to get up and out.

Hope you find your happy medium and it's good to see you back here!

Just a quick pop-in to say hi. I kind of fell off the wagon of checking in and stuff there for a bit, but I'm back....

Anyways, I might actually have to say that my doctors might possibly be right... I know - total shocker right??? Anyways, for years (it seems) they've been telling me: you need to work out, you need to get outside, fake a walk and troll the mall, etc... Anything to get my tush walking and moving. I've been taking some little walks and some little here and there big honking walks for about 2 weeks now. I'm not saying that I feel "better/not-BP", but I certainly feel like my brain is functioning more appropriately and not stuck like an old vinyl record jumping in one spot.

I'm a little nervous to see if this is maintainable or if this is "beginner's luck". Tomorrow I start a Zumba class, so hopefully, I'm not a goner. =D

Just wanted to share and see if anyone else is like this.
Take care - Amanda

Good Morning

Popping in to say HiYa and see what's going on around here. I'm still in Houston and will be until Thursday which is a long, long travel day....but I'm not going to think about that at the mo!
Today my dearest SWGF (sister woman girl friend) is arriving from Indiana especially just to visit with me! We haven't seen each other in 12-13 years and it will be super to catch up and run around. We have one of those friendships that can go 4 months or more with out a phone call and pick right up where we left and have a 3 hour conversation right off the bat. I sure love her and her hubs for buying the plane ticket out to see me!

Other than that, I've been hanging with the folks for the last week. 80 year old senior citizen time is slow.....slower than island time, but it's been a restful week and has certainly taught me to slow it down & relax even more than before, LoL!
We went to the local YMCA they belong to and I really enjoyed the deradmill (for a mile+1/2) then working out on the machines. It's kinda inspired me to go investigate the gym on the east side. It''s family owned and very family oriented so I'm thinking a good place for this heavy-ish girl to investigate as a possible place to work out.
Now that the outrageous car payment is pau, maybe I can spend $50-$60 on a gym membership!

Time for coffee! Have a good one!

I had an okay day today. I didn't sleep well last night and I didn't really get a chance to make up the sleep with a nap. I went with Geo to the store to get soda for him and then we went out to a buffet to eat (tsk tsk I know). I tried to be the best I could for the most part. I'm still sore from p/t yesterday that I couldn't do anything today. I'm just going to do a couple push ups and try and concentrate on my arms since p/t is just working my legs. I finish next week then go up and see my mom for a week. I can't wait to see her again.. I know I will get rest with just her and the dog. She also has a bit of money now so we can do things together. Last time I was up there her husband had a crappy job and so did she. Well, she still has her crappy job, but her husband got a great job in Tampa. She misses him, but they try and see each other as much as they can.

This is true. I did a little laundry this afternoon. Am basically resting from yesterday when the Horticulture Club went to Busch Gardens . I don't remember walking and climbing hills as much as I did yesterday but we had fun. The rest of them rode roller coasters but I shopped until I dropped (almost literally). Took some great pictures though. Am going to have to have them developed soon. Went to Momma's this morning and we went up to the attic to look for something that she swears is up there but I have yet to find it. Oh well. Did not cook supper tonight, Went Chinese. My legs hurt really bad today so haven't done no more than I had to.

i know it's an easy thing to focus on ... but there really is no sense in worrying or stressing about the weather. it isn't something that can be changed .. at least not without a geographic relocation.

instead focus on something you can do for yourself for today only that will make you feel good or happy or proud. you can write in a journal, catch up on a show you haven't watched in awhile, read a book, do some pushups, drink some water, deep clean a corner or room of your living space, find a recipe and try making it, think of some task you've put off forever and try finishing it, there's lots that can be done to avoid worrying about the weather.

The forecast for our area for the next two weeks is cool weather and heavy rain with local flooding. We have had the same forecast for the last week, and I find it very discouraging that now we will be having more of the same.

I just saw my Pdoc yesterday and he changed my meds (tripled my antidepressant booster) after I told him I was depressed and having a hard time with my motivation. I have been bipolar for nearly forty years, but I never get used to it completely. I even get to having trouble with the basics---bathing, sleeping, eating right. But I am doing the best I can. Having the support here is new and seems to be of some help.

as June gloom descends let's do what we can each day to let it pass by and not affect us.... do anything you can to make each day a positive one .. there's always at least something small each day that is positive. just takes some awareness.
