Oh wow, I bet you miss it! I eat romaine and spinach leaves quite a bit. I'm not sure what else I would replace that with.

I get my "Tofutti" items through a local health food store. They didn't carry it at first, but when I told them I was interested in it, it was ordered right away. It's now one of their top selling items! "Tofutti" has many products from sour cream to cream cheese to ice cream sandwiches- with NO dairy! Those are some of my favorites! :)

Carla,

Can you not eat any type of lettuce or is it limited to iceburg or romaine? What about Spinach leaves? I've also used cabbage, in place of lettuce before - just cut it the way you'd like it or shred it. I shredded mine.

I've gotten used to the Silk soy yogurts, I miss dairy the most. I try not to eat too much soy in one day though. Our grocery store finally started carrying them, otherwise I had to drive an hour away for this food.

I've started eating beans, which I really don't like much, but learning to eat them because of the protein factor. I love to make soups, so I've been experimenting a lot. I'm getting good at white chicken chili, but have had to adapt a lot of the recipes provided by SP. Most of them call for cheese or sour cream.
Now if they could make something that tastes like an egg, but isn't one...

Have you ever tasted the O'Soy yogurts? I tried one the other day... it was peach flavored and really good! I was impressed with it. I may start picking those up every now and then! I've never been much of a yogurt person before.

Now cheese on the other hand, I miss so much! lol I loved baby swiss and cheddar... yum! But now I eat soy cheese. It's not bad. I use the "veggie shreds"... the shredded cheese I use for salads and the slices I use on sandwiches. I admit though, they are nothing like real cheese!

Hmmm... my favorite food substitute would have to be...

Since I'm allergic to all cow's milk, instead of drinking Skim milk like I did years ago... I now drink Almond and Soy milk. Love them both! I'm not crazy about Rice milk though. Doesn't have a very good taste... at least not what I tried before. My husband even likes the almond and soy milks now. When I get a real sweet craving, I'll drink some chocolate or vanilla almond or soymilk, otherwise we use original soymilk. It's not expensive either! We get our milk weekly, at our local Wal-mart. It's the Great Value (generic) brand. Tastes just like the Silk (brand name) milk!

I cannot have gluten so instead of regular pizza I have gluten-free pizza. I cannot eat deep fried chicken wings so I haved baked chicken wings with gluten-free hot sauce. I also have gluten-free waffles made with brown rice instead of wheat.
GOD BLESS!

I have only tried the soya based yogurt, no dairy in it, really sour not great taste I guess I could get used to it but
nothing natural about it.
The soya based cheese product does not agree with me.
Dairy products only affect my digestion and makes me feel raw inside. Only way I can explain it.
I also have exercise enduced allergic reactions and I have been told it is due to my body overheating, breathing in cold air and there is always a third trigger. I need to find my third trigger. I thought it might have something to due with dairy but have not found that out yet.

They taste horrible and the texture is off.
I am getting used to pizza with no cheese but my variety of things are lacking because so much calls for cheese or yogurt.

I cannot have any dairy so use soya products but find the yogurt and cream type cheese products not good.
A lot of the soya cheese product in Canada seems to still have whey protein in them. Still trying to find a good product.

HI EVERYONE,

SINCE WE'RE ALL FOOD CHALLENGED, HOW ABOUT ONCE A WEEK WE EACH TALK ABOUT A RECIPE WE'VE CREATED FOR A FAVORITE FOOD WE CAN NO LONGER EAT?

FOR EXAMPLE: I CAN NO LONGER EAT LETTUCE, IMAGINE DIETING AND NOT BEING ABLE TO EAT LETTUCE? SO I HAVE STARTED USING BROCCOLI SLAW AS MY LETTUCE, IT GIVES THAT CRUNCH FACTOR, AND I GET COLD GREENS, NOT LEAFY, BUT THE BEST I COULD COME UP WITH. DO YOU HAVE A BETTER SUBSTITUTE IDEA? ALL IDEAS WELCOME.

MAYBE WE COULD ALL EXPAND ON THIS IDEA AND A LIGHT BULB WILL LIGHT UP FOR US, EXPANDING OUR FOOD CHOICES.

CARLA
