Wow AFMOMJAS,

Your son sounds as eager as mine was! He went into the Army ON his 18th birthday. Sadly for him, he was injured during basic, and had to be med boarded out just ten months later. He has since gone on to attend college.

My son just turned 18 in March. He's been in DEP for almost a year, but it took us until February to get the job he wanted. He flies out for Basic one week from today. He's going to miss his high school graduation, but at least I'll be able to attend his graduation from BMT this summer. From there, he goes to tech school at Keesler AFB in MS.

I have two, emoticon First Lieutenants in my life.

The first is my daughter. She is 24, and a navigator aboard the MC-130P aircraft. She is PCS at Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan. And was recently the mission manager during the Tsunami relief.

The second is my son-in-law. He is 25, and a logistics officer. He too is PCS at Kadena Air Base.

Next year, one of my "surrogate sons" (my son's best friend!) will be receiving his commission in the USAF. He currently has a pilot slot, but is not yet sure of which aircraft he will fly. He already has his private pilot license.
