Hmmm, that reminds me of when I was young, and I would pretend I was Mowgli.

I thought I was Jane and my brother was Tarzan. We had a younger brother that we thought was Cheetah. We would spend days pretending we were living in the jungle and used our head boards trees and we would jump off them and do flips onto our beds. Once, one of us fell behind the board and scraped the skin off our side. Ouch, that was supposed to be the LAST time we did that. I think my younger brother's first word was a noise like a monkey would make. I'm surprised we didn't pull his arms out of their sockets.

So, I'm going to say I would have been Jane. I saw her as having so much freedom and a life of adventure without worry or fear because she had Tarzan to protect her. What an adventure. emoticon

I said, Katherine Hepburn in African Queen. She's tough as nails yet still feminine. That was her character in the movie. No I did not go into a great detail of her character within the movie. And it "follows" when I stated I'd always admired her as person and actress.
I'm not trying to be difficult here. I just didn't feel like posting a long drawn out character study and then relate it to myself. But I did want to participate in the best way I could at the time.

But Phyllis, is it her character? Or is it her you admire? It HAS to be a CHARACTER, not a real person!

This is something from waaay back for me. I loved the book/movies Gone with the Wind. How can you not love Miss Melanie? How can you NOT want to be like her, sweet, caring, loving, gentle? Well...
much as I love her character she wasn't the one I really admired. Nope, it was Scarlet. Why? Because she was tough, she didn't fold when the chips were down. She got back up, she shook her fist, she said I WILL win. I WILL make it. And in doing so she was able to save them all, take care of them all, feed and protect them all. I wanted to be like that, but never thought I had that sort of backbone. Well, I learned differently when I went thru my mess. I found I was much tougher than I ever, ever realized. Our banker kept saying "MAN, you're a strong woman". At the time I didn't feel strong. I felt down, out, and terrified. I just really wanted to crawl into my bed and literally cover my head and hide. But I didn't. I just kept "keeping on". You know what Starr, I think you have some of Miss Melanie in you, and alot of Miss Scarlet. Which makes you a truly wonderful person, sweet AND strong.

So, who do you all admire and wish/try to emulate? (It has to be a fictional character. I don't care if it's Wily Coyote or the Beep, Beep bird!) LOL. Just explain who and why.

Continuing from 6-29 (I think) the question about our mom's and memories- and the last few posts there...

Brings me to this question.

What character in a book or movie do you admire and wish you could be like or perhaps emulate?
