My teeth are better than some, but worse than others. I was doing pretty well until a governor came in to office and even though at that time our state budget was doing great, she cut a lot of DSHS benefits by executive order. Agh! Talk about bypassing the legislature. Of course a lot of people didn't know that, including me. I was supposedly due for a 6 month cleaning and expected to have my teeth checked out at that time. The time came and went, and after a while, I called the dentist only to find out that the governor had decreed that we only get our teeth cleaned once a year. They did take me in since I was having pain by that time. Several teeth were really messed up with huge cavities, and I had root canals. Of course, caps would not be paid for by DSHS. One of the teeth, I told them to just pull since it had been sideways forever and would have been pretty difficult to do a root canal on.

That's when I figured out that the governor, in spite of her saying she was for poor people, was more for herself and her political buddies that got big contracts with the money she took from the accounts for poor people.

Maintaining.

Better than yours, but not great! Can't help you on alot of commiserating with dentures, etc. I have alot of fillings due to a very bad dentist. I never had cavities until we moved to MN, suddenly I was getting a mouthful and all HUGE. Finally mom got "wise" and took me to another dentist, what had supposedly needed a filling didn't have a cavity. That was before lawsuits galore (I'm sure mom/dad wouldn't have anyway). Now I am paying for that, the fillings are so big that my molars are disintegrating so I have been having to get caps as they crack apart. I also have 2 front teeth with root canals/capped as when I had my first daughter a nurse took me to the shower down the hall, forgot my clothes, went back to get them and somehow "forgot" to bring them back. I pushed the call button, a nurse came, made me put my head between my knees. Putting my head between my knees never worked but they would never believe me. Then she left me alone. I used to faint easily, so I ended up with my head in the shower, front teeth knocked out and cracked.

I'VE WORN A FULL SET OF DENTURES SINCE 2001. MY REAL TEETH HAD BEEN A CONSTANT PAIN SINCE I WAS A TEENAGER, AS MY PARENTS NEVER DID TAKE ME TO THE DENTIST WHEN I WAS A KID. I WAS CONSTANTLY HAVING TO HAVE MY REAL TEETH WORKED ON AND STILL CONSTANTLY HAVING MAJOR PAIN WITH THEM. AND DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON HOW MUCH MONEY IT COST TO GET ALL THAT DENTAL WORK DONE......NO INSURANCE. BUT THE DENTURES ARE NOT ALL THAT GREAT EITHER. YOU HAVE TO TAKE THEM OUT EVERY NIGHT AND SOAK THEM. I OFTEN GET VERY PAINFUL CANKER SORES BECAUSE OF MY LOWER PLATE. THEN I HAVE TO LEAVE THAT PLATE OUT OF MY MOUTH FOR SEVERAL DAYS SO THE SORE CAN HEAL. AND I DON'T CARE WHAT THE POLYGRIP COMMERCIAL SAYS, YOU CANNOT EAT WHAT EVER YOU WANT. I CAN'T EAT RAW CARROTS, CELERY, APPLES, TOUGH PIECES OF MEAT......THE LIST GOES ON AND ON. BUT ON THE GOOD SIDE, HAVING DENTURES IS MUCH BETTER THEN HAVING NO TEETH AT ALL.

MAKE 2018 THE BEST YOU CAN.

My teeth have always bee a pain in my patooty. I've had an upper denture for over 30 years. And, now I need to get a partial lower denture. I'm putting it off as long as I can. I need the dental insurance to kick in for next year before we can afford to do it. I'm hoping there will be another to commiserate with on this subject. emoticon
