I'm late to the discussion but just back on board with the group. Glad to hear Bella is home and okay. I remember when I took Oliver to get neutered years ago --- I worried about him all day at work.

Hope everyone is having a good evening.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.
My house often looks like a toddler lives here with toys scattered all over the place. Bella is very toy-oriented and loves to play "fetch." She has a habit of putting toys on our feet as we're trying to walk. She's fun, that's for sure.

Marilyn, I know this is a problem, but what a cute picture in my mind- that little "corker" running away with her "prize"! They are like children, and tho a headache it's still one of the "funny things" they do!

Thanks Starr. Bella recovered beautifully from her surgery. Now our challenge is finding someone to help us train her. She's a good little pup at times, but if you drop anything, she's there before it hits the floor and she takes off with it. She's captured some dangerous objects, and to get them back quickly, we have to bribe her, which is rewarding bad behavior. We even gave up the idea of a Christmas tree when she stole a small glass ball and ran through the house with it.
Hope everyone is having a wonderful new year so far.

I have been known to go back to the vet and get more pain medication, when I felt that they were still in pain. Prayers going out for Bella!!

Hi Carol and Kim, thanks for your concern for Bella. She's doing very well, but as Kim mentioned, she's still "paying attention" to her incision. Now that you mentioned it, I'll keep her on the pain medicine. I was going to stop it, but if it will help her heal faster, I'll finish what was in the bottle.

I hope she is feeling better! I'm glad your vet sent you home with pain medication...not all do (which is horrible)! Dogs don't always exhibit pain the way we do, so don't stop the medication just because she "seems" better. They still feel the pain, they just instinctively try to hide it. But we know the body heals faster when it's not in pain (pain increases cortisol production which decreases healing time), and the less tender the incision, the less they will pay attention to it. This is major abdominal surgery so complete healing on the inside can take a couple of weeks at least. :)

Bella seems uncomfortable but not in any great pain. I gave her a dose of the pain meds at 3 a.m. She slept after that and her appetite is good. Unfortunately she never used her kennel as a safe haven the way Sasha and Serena did. Bella's safe haven is wherever I am.

Good news. I could see mine going to the kennel immediately as that is their "safe haven" daily. You can find them there several times a day (HeHe)!

Bella is home !!! In addition to the surgery she had 3 baby teeth removed because the adult teeth had come in. She's a little quiet but she can walk around and I think she'll be fine.

Well, you know the answer to that- don't leave the room! LOL. You may have to sit and hold her until she's well! Hahahaha!

Hi Carol, I have a kennel but if I put her there she sometimes jumps up and down like a jumping jack and screams her head off if I leave the room. Maybe she'll rest at least the first day since she'll probably be groggy from the anesthesia.

Hope you don't worry too much. Do you have a kennel? That's where I put mine when I need them to rest and stay quiet.

We dropped Bella off at the vet to be spayed. We have to call them at 3 this afternoon to see when she can come home. I know she's in good hands so I'm trying not to worry. My biggest concern is how to keep her quiet during her recovery.
