I found some 3 pound weights at a garage sale to a buck each. I use some dvd's I bought at Walmart and walk my two dogs everyday. They are husky mixes weighing in at 60 pounds each thats a workout just keeping them in control during the walk, and trying not to scare people alot of people cross the street when they see us coming.

When I was in college I used to go to an exercise class with my roommate. The teacher had us bring cans of soup or vegetables to use as weights for some of the exercises. There are lots of ways that you can exercise at home without having to buy expensive equipment or use gas to go to the gym.

There was much rejoicing!

Good morning All,
There is an exercise program on our educational television station called Functional Fitness. In this program, the fitness trainer, Suzanne, shows you items to use to exercise with that are usually found in your home. Several of the items she has shared are plastic laundry bottles with the handles on them. Fill them with sand to whatever weight you can lift and these are great for arm workouts. Other handy items she uses are clothes irons (this has a handle in which to hold on to) while she exercises her arms, sometimes lifting the iron with both hands at the same time. Another item is a broom which she slides wrist or leg weights onto the handle while holding the broom horizontally to stretch out in front of her and do stretches. Then, she also uses the broom upright to steady herself while doing leglifts for each leg, usually to a count of 12. Thought these would be great ideas to pass along in order to save money and recycle items around your home. And, Suzanne is a great teacher along with her coexercise partners who show you ways to exercise at whatever exercise level you are at. Making a gym right in your own home-now that's saving! emoticon emoticon
