I try to keep lunch around 300 calories. Several 'go-to' options are Greek yogurt with fresh seasonal fruit & hemp seeds, salad greens (from my garden) and cut vegetables with either chicken or flaked crab and balsamic vinaigrette, organic split pea or miso soup with a slice of whole wheat toast. I'm technically retired, so many lunches are at home, but I have a busy volunteer schedule and all the above options are just as easy to put in a container and take with me as have at the house.

I no longer work, so I eat most my lunches at home. I have gastroparesis, so I eat a few "mini meals" throughout the day instead of 3 big meals. I'm eating more soups with this cold weather also.

I take my lunch to work everyday. It is typically a half sandwich with some chips, a piece of fruit and some raw veggies. With the weather getting colder I tend to take soups more.

Lunch is my biggest variable, I love greek yogurt but I also love to go out! Try to order salads or other healthy options. No fast food ever.

At work I usually have soup, fruit, and a bit of chocolate for dessert. Depending on my mood, I will have crackers, almonds, or pretzel pieces.

I pack my breakfast & lunch when I work. I usually have between 300 & 350 calories per meal & I have a couple of healthy snacks per day that are between 100 & 150 calories.

For breakfast, some typical items I eat: oatmeal, cottage cheese with avocado, grapes, Jimmy Dean Eggwhite breakfast bowl or sandwich.

For lunch: Sometimes leftovers from dinner the night before or a healthy frozen meal with an apple or some other fruit.

For snacks: Almonds, string cheese, carrots, fruit.

Keep smiling!!

When working, I bring my lunch since we all work through lunch and would have to make up the time at the end of the day. Most days I bring a Stonyfield Farms Organic Smoothie, which is about 190 calories or so. The smoothies are also easier when I'm on the Hope Bus, particularly if I'm alone. I have to be able to greet/talk with people - hard to do when chewing. :) I also try to bring melon or kiwi with me to have at lunch or as a snack. Occasionally we have working lunches and we order from a local vegan restaurant so I will have extra calories on those days.

How many calories are in a typical lunch for you? What are some of your favorites that you eat for lunch? For those who work, do you pack a healthy lunch or try to get something healthy at a fast food type place or restaurant?
