Ice cream and such is not really not a weakness for me although I like it. There is a small neighborhood ice cream shop two blocks from my home which is very popular. I have lived here two years in this house for two year and I went there for the first time last month.

I always have a nostalgic love for Dairy Queen hot fudge sundaes although I seldom eat them. My father managed a DQ when I was a small child and my first "job" was to sweep the back room each week and my first "pay" was a hot fudge sundae.

It used to be Breyer's ice cream....pretty much any flavor. Now, it's frozen bananas blended in the Vitamix. Tastes just as good as ice cream. I like to add peanut butter to it!

I would say its Cold Stone Creamery. I was there once 2 summers ago before I had my first hernia operation. I told my DH I wanted to go there before my surgery just in case I died. Little did I know I would end up in ICU fighting sepsis, etc. from that surgery. Now I watch what I say. We havent been there since, but I'd love to go and treat myself again. DQ used to be a treat but since they opened a yr. round on, it's not the same. It's no longer a summer treat.

I like to get a "Humphrey Yogart" from Counter Culture -

“HUMPHREY YOGART - The House Specialty! Yogurt topped with three fresh fruits, granola, and honey." ( www.counterculture.la/index.html )

I usually get strawberries, bananas & peaches on mine. The yogurt has a nice tangy flavor to it. It's around 300 calories for a small well worth the splurge!

I also like italian ice but haven't had any in ages.

My favorite occasional treat is frozen yogurt from Yogurtland. Their flavors change seasonally, and they always have a large selection of sugar and/or fat free offerings. Toppings range from the traditional chocolate/sprinkles/gummis/m&ms/cocomut/pe
anuts/etc. to lichi nuts/ chia seeds/fresh and frozen fruits and other healthier options. Cost is by final weight, so you can micromanage amounts. Additional nice touch is that it's only a mile away, so I almost alway ride my bike, and often take the grands along on their bikes as well.

There is a little place in the next town over from where I live that has appeared on the Food Network as one of the top 10 places to get ice cream in the country. I don't go there often because it's not a healthy treat, but once in a great while, I'll go get a pineapple sundae or a pineapple milkshake. YUM!!!!!

Keep smiling!!

There is a pretty good frozen yogurt place near my house. I've only been there once, but they even have greek yogurt frozen yogurt. You choose how much you want by serving yourself and you can even add fruit. It's a nice summer treat.

Love High Five frozen yogurt. I get a mix of the lower fat ones and put all sorts of fresh fruit toppings. Yummy! Since it's low fat and a rare treat I may eat 3/4 cup.

What is your favorite summer time treat if given a choice, Ice-cream, frozen yogurt, Italian ice, gelato, other? What is your favorite flavor? What is the best place in or near your area that you can enjoy such a treat? What would a good size serving be for you ,as you are on a healthy lifestyle change?
