I hike and go to the beach in summer.

It is usually in the 70-90 degree range in the summer months in Chicago. We have hit 106 in a record! emoticon

Here in Utah it gets hot for the summer with some days over 100, but it's a dry heat, or so they say. I didn't realize the difference until I spent a couple of weeks at the East Coast where it was 95 degrees and 95% humidity. Makes your clothes really wet when they stick to you, where in the dry heat the clothes don't get as wet, just stick to you!

We have a lot of barbeques and take the boat out fishing quite a few times during the summer. I love to be able to go for a walk or run in the early morning before the day heats up.

It's hot and muggy down here in Florida. My husband and I like to go kayaking. It's cooler on the water and with luck, we get to see some critters!

Summers here in the Northeast can get into the 90s, with an occasional 100 now and then, and humid.

We take advantage of getting out of the apartment because weather is nice and do various activities, visiting parks & cemeteries (love reading old gravestones), outdoor theater, visiting Cape Cod or Boston, and probably the one we do most often is pack a picnic lunch to bring to a local vineyard for Saturday jazz & wine. We try to do that as often as is possible with my work schedule.

What is your favorite summer time activity?
~ obviously I enjoy riding my motorcycle, but since that can pretty much be a year-round thing where I live, I guess it doesn't really count as a summer activity! I like grilling and cookouts, and we usually take a vacation either to Indiana to see my husband's family or to North Carolina to see my family. This year we're going to Indiana but will get to see both families, so that's an extra special treat!

How often do you participate in it?
~ going with the grilling here - at least 1-2 times per week, sometimes more!

What are the normal summer temps in your area?
~ I live in NW Louisiana, and summers can be brutal here - not at all uncommon to have 30 - 60 days in a row over 100°, and the humidity is ridiculous! It makes being outside pretty miserable for most of June, July, August, and into September. Temps usually drop back down into 80's & 90's by then but still humid. We've had a little break this year, it's been cooler than usual so far. So maybe it will be a mild summer? We can only hope!

Like Nilla said, here in SW MO, we have hot sticky summers with temps often over 100 for days. There is always a heat wave after school starts mid-August. We live near a spring-fed creek, and love to fish, catch crawdads, or just wade in the cool water.

We live in the south (very far south!) as well, and while the temps rarely get above 95, the sun is brutal and the humidity is killer! So any outdoor activities, aside from water activities, are best performed early morning or closer to dusk. We look forward to summer vacations, when the kids are out of school, and since we have an RV, even short trips are an adventure! We usually alternate between trips up north to see family and trips out west to National Parks.

I enjoy getting together with my family during the summer. We have lots of cookouts or order a bushel of crabs & split the cost.

Most of the summer is in the mid to upper 80s or even in the 90s here. For a couple of weeks, it can be over 100. We have a fair amount of humidity here, so it can be a bit sticky. Our summers go well into September, usually.

Keep smiling!!
