I was average as a kid, but started to get chubby around 6th grade. It was not a good thing as diets were a big part of my teen years. I had reached my goal here, but now have to lose again. I feel it has alot to do w/medical menopause, and bc meds.

I have always been over weight with the exception of about 2 and 1/2 years in my 20s. I remember at the age of 13 realizing it was my problem and no one could fix it but me. It has been a life long struggle. I am planning on this being my last journey for weight loss and the rest of my life on maintenance.

As a kid, I always thought I was fat. Looking back at pictures, I wasn't. My wedding dress was a size 12, a good size for my height, etc. Plus I had to have it taken in a little..... Then I went on birth control. 50 lbs. in 6 months...went off the pill, followed by 3 babies in less than 3 years. Stayed pretty much the same for years, as I was active with the kids. Then it started creeping on and now it's a 24/7 battle to try and get it off. I've hit a plateau, and I've gained and lost the same 7 lbs. for months now, into onederland, out of onederland, back in...right now it's out of onderland... I'm hoping I can stick to a good healthy diet, and with just having the shots in my knees, I hope I can do more moving, even just several short walks a day, without the pain. I have to have knee replacement surgery, but I'd really like to strengthen the muscles around my knees, and lose about 20 lbs. before we even set the date. Right now I am 51 lbs. from my goal, altho tomorrow it might only be 45!!! LOL
Being diabetic gives me another reason to finally get my stuff together, and make this journey a success.....

I was 10 lbs on the day I was born . . . so literally all my life!

The first time I remember actually trying to lose weight was in my late teens. However, no matter what size I was I've always felt like I needed to lose weight. When I look at pictures now from my teen years I wonder what in the world I was thinking!

I don't think I've ever actually reached my goal weight, I've gotten within 10 lbs of it a couple of times & then sabotage myself & end up gaining it all back plus a few. Honestly, you would think I just love trying to lose weight!!

As of last Monday I am 47 lbs from my goal. Hopefully that will be 45 or less when I weigh tomorrow morning!

I have been working on my weight since high school. After high school then nursing school the weight fluctuations have been more extreme. The range has been 142 to 230, ouch. The 142 was due to many hours of overtime and little time to eat. The 230 due to cancer treatment and a lot of emotional eating coupled with little energy to work out. Doing a bit better now that the tough part is behind me.

As a kid, I was only slightly chubby, but I ate huge quantities.
In college, I maintained my eating habits, but became slim from all the walking.
I gained huge amounts with my two pregnancies, but lost it all quickly while breast feeding. Then my weight started creeping up and my activity level went down. My hubs and I lost weight together; we gained it back.
Then I gained 30 lbs in one year from the chemo steroids.
Now, five years later, I have lost 35 lbs, and my hub over75. I know that my current problem is my activity level, but will be walking a lot more now that reasonable temperatures are here.
We can do this!!

I was underweight or average for most of my life. Sometimes I would gain 20 or 30 lbs. but I would take it off with no problem. Then, when I became ill, I gained 90 lbs. even when I wasn't eating. I remember one day I ate nothing but a bowl of soup and gained 5 lbs. I went up and up until I was overweight by 90 lbs. in just a few months.
Then I stopped eating completely and lost about 50 in just a few weeks. When I went into the hospital, I was so critically ill I lost another 40. The doctors gave me medicine to make me eat and I gained the 40 back. When I finally came home, I gained another 10 but the doctors wouldn't allow me to "diet" or exercise. They just wanted me to allow my body to rest. This all happened in less than a year.

Now, I have been trying to lose for two years and just keep losing and regaining the same 20 lbs. over and over. I am so frustrated, I have decided that I am just going to try to eat healthy and keep exercising. If it comes off, it comes off and if it doesn't, then it just doesn't. All of my lab work is excellent and I get stronger every day both physically and mentally. Maybe eventually, I will reach my goal but if not, I refuse to allow anything to stress me out since the cancer,

One day at a time; one pound at a time.

I started gaining weight when the school I taught at (3rd grade) decided to use M&M's for rewards for the kids. Well, I thought that if the teacher needed a reward, why not use M&M's? That started things and I kept on eating sweets the longer I taught and the more stressful it became. I finally retired and went to my GP and found out that I had very high blood pressure, blood sugar level close to diabetes, and high cholesterol. That scared me. Not long after I joined Spark People and I lost all the weight I needed and then some. About two years after that I went to Great Britain with my son and daughter-in-law. I ate every Cornish pasty and scone I ran into. I gained it all back. I am now working to lose the last ten to fifteen lbs. I am currently on a plateau but I will lose it all and hope to never gain any of it back.

I've been maintaining for nearly five years now. I gained a bit of weight back during grad school but I'm still within the healthy BMI range.

How long have you been fighting the weight loss battle? Where you overweight as a child? When do you first remember trying to lose weight? How many pounds are you now from your goal? Have you ever reached goal and re-gained and had to go back to start again?
