I usually hit the hot tub at about 11 pm, cool off and read for a little bit until 11:30, when it's lights out. That's pretty much the same weekdays and weekends. I, like so many of you, wake up every day at the same time, mine is 4 am, but I take my synthroid (empty stomach), put in my eye drops (dry eye from chemo and menopause) and roll over for another hour or so. During the week my husband and daughter get up at 5:30, I usually get up about 5:50. But on weekends that usually changes to 7:30 if I can get away with it! Yes, frequently struggle with insomnia, will doze off for 5 minutes and then be wide awake for hours, so occasionally sleep aids are a necessity!

Since getting my C-PAP machine, I do much better with sleep. I can sleep straight through without bathroom runs. I used to wake up exhausted all the time no matter how many hours of "sleep" I would get. I usually go to bed about 10:00. But if I fall asleep on the sofa while watching TV, I don't go to bed until 11 or 12. That is not a good habit of mine. I am working on it. I am usually awake when my husband gets up at 5:15-5:30. Many times I will dose off again and catch some good deep sleep. I am usually out of bed by 6:45. If I go to bed on time I can get 7.5 hours in a row. Otherwise about the same amount of sleep just more broken up.

Fluffywonkenobe-I hear your frustration. Do you drink caffinated drinks or really any drink late in the day? Sometimes that can keep you up or wake you up after falling asleep. Last drank a cup of coffee about 4 p.m. yesterday and could not fall asleep until after midnight. I have also been told to go to bed and wake up at the same time every night even on the weekends. And if you wake up in the middle of the night and cannot go back to sleep, get up and do something then try to sleep. Just something to think about... Sweet Dreams.

I usually don't fall asleep until midnight or even later. alarm goes off for my son at 6;15, so about 6ours, but sometimes I lay back down for an hour or two if I am really tired. I agree w/Ivylass that chemo really messes w/sleep. I have taken some sleep aids occasionally.

I sleep a little later on saturdays, up early for church/sunday school on sundays (7am)

I would love to just be able to get 6 hours of sleep a night, but I don't seem to be able to do even that! During the week I have to get up at 5:00 a.m., so I would have to be in bed by 9:00 p.m. to get a full 8 hours - that never happens. Even if it did, I wake up around 3:00 every single night . . . not sure why, most of the time I just fall back asleep, but sometimes I can't. So I just lay there . . . waiting for 5:00 a.m.! Really frustrating! I usually get to bed between 10:00 - 10:30.

And weekends? Up by 7:00 no matter if I have all day to sleep or not! I just can't stay asleep, and once I'm awake I may as well get up or I'll get stiff from laying in the bed!

I'm a night owl, so I seldom get to bed before 1, unless I know I have to be up early, then I'll at least try to go to sleep! If I could start my day at 10 am, I'd be in great shape, but I'm usually at least awake about 9, Occasionally I need to grab a 20 min. nap during the day, but I try not to do that very often.

I have to leave for work (I commute 22 miles one way daily)at 6:30 AM. So I have to be up every day at 5:30. I try to go to bed at 9 PM every night but that doesn't always happen. I can't get by on less than 6 hours though. And if I could, I'd like to sleep 10 hours a night.
The only way that will happen is if I could retire, wish I hope to do in 3 years.

I usually get to bed around 10p. I read before I go to bed. I usually get around 7-8 hours a night. I have had to take sleep aids since my chemo...it messed up my ability to fall asleep.

How many hours of sleep do you get on a regular basis? What time do you generally go to bed/wakeup? How can you improve your sleep habits?
