In past years, I used to watch the Oscars, but we don't go to see the movies
any more. So I am not interested in watching it now.

We have satellite TV, so I have lots of selections of movie channels. However,
I don't have much time to watch many. What I enjoy and watch most often
are Lifetime & Hallmark. To me, they are the best. However, Lifetime sometimes
has on some gory/bad movies that I can't tolerate. Most often, I keep Home
& Garden running. I love looking at all the different houses.

I generally don't watch the awards programs, but I'm always interested in seeing the photos of the various dresses the actresses wear. Some of them definitely have better taste than others, lol! Ladies, just because you CAN wear something, doesn't mean you SHOULD.

We actually go to the movies fairly frequently. We just saw Safe Haven, which I enjoyed, although I was glad I had tissues with me, 'cause it was pretty poignant at the end. I'm not a fan of gory/scary movies. Even the Harry Potter series was getting a little dark for me towards the end. Love sci-fi...much to my delight, a new Star Trek movie will be released in May...in 3-D!! Can't wait for that! I did see Lincoln...it left me very thoughtful. Daniel Day Lewis really deserves an award for that.

I normally watch the pre oscar show, "walking the red carpet" to see what the stars are wearing. The actual show is far too long, I find out the next morning who won the oscars.
I have not seen any movies this season, want to see Lincoln and Argo. I am rooting for Ben Afleck tonight.

I certainly never meant to give the impression that I didn't like movies! I love them, certain ones, and have a collection of those that I enjoy watching repeatedly. It's just with our 3 kids going in 3 different directions, plus our commitments at work and church, it's hard to find a mutually agreeable time! Usually by the time we can all attend, the movie is no longer in theaters! Yes, I enjoy watching them on the big screen, but will certainly settle for my TV at home rather than miss them entirely!

I like movies too, but don't go to the theater as often as I used to. However I did see Lincoln and Life of Pi, and I think either one would be a good best movie choice. My brother also raves about Silver Lings Playbook and Zero Dark Thirty, but I haven't seen those yet.

We usually watch a portion of the oscars, but not the whole thing.

One time that we always go is when we can see a blockbuster film in IMAX - makes it more of an experience. Avatar for example was just fantastic in IMAX 3D.

Unlike most of you, I LOVE movies...and I do watch the Academy Awards. I've seen LINCOLN and LIFE OF PI. Both excellent movies, with actors who did work hard at portraying their characters. Yes, I think they are overpaid...as well as athletes, TV actors, journalists...the list goes on. We don't go as often as we used to because of Netflix, but there are just some movies (like the two I've seen) that need to be seen on a big screen.

I will be happy if either of those two films wins. John saw a few of the others but too violent for me...not an action or violence film watcher. We are blessed that John's sister gives him movie passes every year for a birthday gift...and we are able to access passes for free preview screenings because John works nearby where you can get them.

I don't watch them either. It's all about money. there are so many people living paycheck to paycheck and then you see these people strutting around in expensive dresses and jewelry and get these expensive gift bags, etc. Show me an awards show that awards people that give 100% at their job.

I don't watch them either. Waste of time because I've not seen the movies, or know the actors, 90% of the time. We usually don't hit the theaters even once a year, but last month we did go see "Lincoln" and "Les Miserables". "Lincoln" was good, DH really enjoyed it. It was interesting, but not one I'd have put at the top of my "want to see list". Glad I did go with him tho. Loved "Les Mis", but I don't even know if it's up for anything!! LOL

I'm also not much of an awards show person, don't think I've ever watched them, definitely not the entire show!

We don't go to the movie theater often, definitely not as much as we used to, but I think we actually have been in the past month or so, saw Jack Reacher. Also like the action movies (Die Hard) and the comedies, will also go for a chick flick love story occasionally. Just not horror movies, I just don't get it.

We used to have a Blockbuster subscription, but since they closed the store which was 2 blocks from our house, we dropped it since it wasn't convenient. Now we usually watch on demand and keep saying that we will rent a movie through there if we really want to see one......but with the crazy schedules for our kids and for us, those opportunities don't come around too often!

You have to see Life of Pi - great movie - lots to think about, and gorgeous views of an amazing animal. It's so hard to see where the real tiger is, and where the CGI begins.

Not much of an awards show watcher either - how many new ways can you thank Mom? Used to go to theater movies weekly, but for many years have seen little out there worth $8/ticket, and the popcorn is a temptation I definitely don't need. Those few that I really want to see I get either at Netflix or from my library which has a fantastic collection of both movies and TV (by seasons). I then watch them while riding my stationary bike (go-to evening exercise) and have worked up to 18 miles during a 90 min show.

I get tired of them too, did watch some of the Grammys. I saw none of the movies, want to see Lincoln, hope to go soon. I rarely go to the theatre, not been for maybe a year? I do watch movies at home from Netflix. I like older movies alot, so much class has gone from our movies to trash.

I don't watch any of the awards shows, I don't see the point. But I know a lot of people enjoy them.

I can't even remember the last movie we saw in a theater, I'm sure we went at least once last year . . . but can't recall when or what we saw.

I like to watch action/suspense movies, but nothing too graphic. Also like lighthearted - romantic comedy & such.

Do you watch the Oscars? Have you seen any of the movies up for an award, or even recall the name of any? If you saw any, what movie was best to you? I know alot of people don't go to the theatre as they used too, how many times a year do you go? Do you prefer watching at home? emoticon emoticon
