Mine are of course when the slaves became free.

when women were allowed to vote.

FDR years were very interesting.

Rosa Parks, and not giving up her seat on a bus.

MLK jr and his speeches.

Man on the moon

Mine was the Kennedy years. I was in high school when he ran, and thrilled about it because we are related, "round Robin Hood's barn", as the saying goes. I was one of his supporters, and thrilled when he won. I was at work the day he was killed, and was actually doing a split shift that day, so was napping. I was so upset when I went back on duty. We kept the tv's glued to one of the whole 3 channels we had available for the next few days, and there were lots of tears shed. I've often wondered what the world would be like if he had lived, had completed his first term, and gone on to a second. Would the world be a better place? Would the United States be any better off?? I like to think so...

I had the day off and I actually had a date for lunch. First in years!!
My favorite history is not that old but has great meaning to me. Back in the 50's when the space exploration was new, I lived in Texas. My dad was a real aviation buff, having been a pilot in WWII. We would stand out in the yard at night and watch Sputnik pass over us in the night sky. Standing with him, looking up and listening to him talk about the vastness of the universe made such a lasting memory of my youthful love for him. I always wake up to watch the take offs and landings. Can't help myself.

I think I can. I know I can. I will.

Don't let yesterday use up to much of today!
