Halloween candy is always a big temptation for me, but Christmas baking (by others, not me) really does me in. Neighbors and friends come over with plates of freshly baked goodies, with little ones in tow chirping "I helped, how do they taste?!" I'd rather go over on calories and see their beaming faces when I exclaim over their delectable creations than adhere to my well-intentioned meal plan. I lost the pounds once, I can lose them again.

emoticon Christmas is always a challenge for me ~ every one brings cookies and goodies to Santa! In the past I've not really worried about it until January--this will be my first Christmas trying to keep on track emoticon

I don't really over indulge during the holidays. I may eat one meal that
has more calories than I should, but then I get back to healthy eating.
My problem these days is getting on my threadmill or Leslie Sansone's
CD's. However, I run/walk all day trying to do my house work or taking
care of business things required because Mom is in a nursing home.

My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of Heaven and Earth."

Not really. My issue doesn't tend to be overindulging, it's more a challenge of finding time to exercise.

Unfortunately I do seem to have a problem with weight gain that starts with Halloween parties, goes through Thanksgiving dinner, November birthdays that cluster for me in the last half of November for family and friends, and then Christmas. It helps to keep a daily food diary -- I'm more likely to forego the extra cookie or mimosa when I see I've already had an extra taste a day or two ago.

Have you had problems in the past with weight gain during the holidays? What Holiday de-rails you the most, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Other Ethnic Celebration, etc.? What strategy helps you eat healthier during such times?
