Hi Chrymson ~~ Thanks for the words of wisdom!! I like the idea of a car wash.... Maybe we'll do a "bike wash" ~~ I am going to be walking October 28th - 30th in Tampa Bay Florida ~~~
I'll make you a friend and - if it is okay with you -- I can email you my link and if and when you get a chance ~~ maybe you could donate? Every little bit adds up!! (as you know :)

Thanks again!
Dee

I asked local businesses to use their water for the car washes, they are usually up for good causes like this. I chose a very busy street with easy access, for me it was a Firestone, and we set up an held posters on sidewalk of busy street and they would pull in, we wash their car and they drive off. One car wash I raised 500 bucks in 4 hours! :)
Also email everyone you know the link to your page. When is your 3day walk, I will consider donating, but can't for a few weeks.
Yes I did it two years in a row, first one made such impact I had to do it again, and I know I will again in future also.
Don't forget to train! This is very important, people injure quickly, dehydrate and if you want to be able to do the entire walk, the training is important. Just a few tips to help ya out :)
Their website also has great fundraiser ideas. I did some bake sales too.

Thanks Chrymson ~~ I am so sorry to hear about your friend. I will keep him in my prayers ~ Miracles happen so don't lose faith.

Wow, you did it two years in a row by doing car washes? How did that work? I'm not sure we would have the place to do a car wash because we live in an apartment complex. But it is a thought!

So far I have gotten one $60 donation (quite generous!) just from posting it on facebook (Susan G. K. gives you a link to post on FB) .... and my hubby and I are planning a huge event for October 16th (but I'd like to have the money raised before then).

We belong to a clean and sober motorcycle group and we are going to host a "Breakfast, Bikers and Boobies" ride -- at the end of the ride we will have breakfast and there will be music and stuff. We'll have 50/50s there (of course) and we will be raffling off gift baskets (collecting donations now) and we are hoping to get a few larger items donated to auction off.

To the person who asked about the event costing $2300.... here is how it works.
I registered for the event and the registration fee (with a discount) was about $75 .... to be able to participate in the event I need to raise $2300... If I don't then you can't walk unless you pay the remainder of what you didn't raise. From what I am hearing... most people are able to raise the money. I'm starting NOW because I did the Avon 2-Day walk several years back and all I needed to raise was $1800 and I wound up having to put in my own $300 at the end because I didn't raise enough. I wouldn't be able to do that this time!!

With all this talk of raising money for this mighty cause.... if you are so inclined to donate to my account.... send me a private message and I can send you a link to my Susan G. Komen web page where you can donate right online.... and/or if you are interested in donating an item for the Cancer Care baskets we are going to auction off or a special item for us to auction off!

Thanks for reading and commenting!!

I did the 3day walk 2009 and 2010, and yes you have to raise 2300. It's not as hard as people think it is, I raised a lot of it just doing car washes and asking people. I am not going to participate this year, I am trying to raise money for a friend of mine who is fighting testicular cancer that has spread into his body instead. I will probably join again in 2012 though.
It's the most amazing experience I've ever had and I highly recommend it if you have not done it!

Hey there ~~

I just registered for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day walk in Tampa Bay Florida (I live in Ohio but this is a great excuse for going to Florida! LOL!) October 28th - 30th ~~~

Is anybody else doing this? I'd love to have company!! :0)

Let me know!
Also - if any of you have done this ... can you share how you raised the $2300
I'd love any ideas you may have!!

Thanks,
Dee
