Tammy - that is wonderful. We appreciate your help in this. The 2019 Railly is Officially Sept 8-15. So far I have six couples coming. I am sure we may have a couple more. Tammy, will you and Joe plan on being there during our Rally? And, I'm assuming if anyone wants to rent a cabin like Arlene did last time, that would work too.

Okay, I am back...wearing too many hats here lately...I wanted to get the GM on Friday and then saw he was home with a sick kiddo...he works a lot of hours that most aren't aware of, and I would not contact him on a weekend except in an absolute emergency...so I got to him yesterday while waiting for DD to have her colonoscopy to rule out another child with Crohn's - thank goodness she does NOT have it.

The GM said that yes, we could have group rentals again...and I am going to try to share the link. tlresort.com/accommodations/ I think last time that we reserved in our name and then as folks checked in, they went in and did the paperwork.

Are we agreed on Sept 8 - 15th?

That will work for us. If our remodel is done earlier, we might travel a little before or even after before heading back to TX. later in the fall.

I think Sept 8-15 would work for us, especially if we arrive in Branson on the 4th or 5th (stay somewhere else) because we would have to leave by the 12th or so to make it back to CA in time for an event we are planning to attend.

Thanks, Tammy, for working with us. emoticon

The general manager confirmed that we would indeed need to watch the park's blackout dates of August 26 thru September 4 for the Labor Day holiday. I would advise after September 4 as most of our southwest MO schools would be back in session by then and the park would probably not be as crowded. emoticon I believe last time we met in Branson that it was in October, and we needed to be there prior to the last week or so because of the park's annual meeting.

I'm checking things with the general manager of the park. Since a major holiday falls in that time period, and that would be a problem right around Labor Day since it is a private resort, I need to make absolutely sure of the available dates.

He did say that he would be glad to have us come, and that it would be $17 per night for the RV sites.

Branson for us is good. Sept. is good for us too. We will probably head home for a while after but we are fine with that. Will be working in the house to finish things so may not get too many mini vacations.

Were thinking of heading through southern Montana to Colorado, and then east to Branson, leaving sometime in August. If Branson was the last part of August or the first or second week of September, that would work for us. We absolutely have to be home by September 18, and it takes us 7 days to drive home from Branson. We drive slowly, and California is a long ways away, LOL.

Well, it seems to have been narrowed down to Colorado or Branson. Colorado is perhaps more centrally located but Branson has my interest.

Tammy said we could stay at Treasure Lake again in Sept.

I think Branson is closer for us. We could go and come back before our winter trip. I am thinking around the 2nd or 3rd week in Sept.

What would work for the rest of you?

PJ, no worries. We may not be able to either since we have to submit or vacation requests in Jan every year. I did love those 2 areas and the park in OK that we went to. The local fair may be our trip this year and we are talking about 2-3 trips to state parks in Ill and here in IA.

Mike has picked up a lot of odd weeks working in other areas and we are required to work 3 Monday/ Tuesday/ Fridays per monthly schedule so that leaves a lot of mid weeks open to camp or 1 day on, 1 day off crappy schedule working.

Try Colorado again since there were only 2 units a couple yrs. ago? Sept. was good with moderate temps. Or a little later in the fall? We would like to set some plans with friends that will be in CO. for a couple months late summer. Some thoughts to run with.

No matter where it is decided where the rally will be this year.....Alex and I will have to decide closer to the rally time.
Right now our Canadian dollar is doing terrible against your American dollar!
It would benefit all you American RV'ers to hold the rally in Canada emoticon .....you would gain 30 cents on every American dollar you spend here....
Something that would cost us a dollar here would only cost you 70 cents.... emoticon

For us going to the USA.....what you would pay one dollar for.....would cost us $1.30

SO??? What do you all say??? Shall we hold the rally in Ontario Canada? Or better yet....in New Brunswick Canada? emoticon emoticon emoticon

I had put in the suggestion of Duluth but will rescind the thought. When hurricane Michael was coming in, another storm came out of Lake Superior and did a lot of damage to the entire shoreline up to Canada. They say it will take weeks + to repair the damage and throughout the winter that may not be possible. So with no shore line up to Thunder Bay a lot of the beauty and fun is gone for now. I could only think of the sinking of the Edmond Fitzgerald when I saw the massive waves. So will keep thinking or just watching for this post to come up.

We just found out that Petes 2019 international flag conference will be in San Antonio, TX, July 15-19th. This same conference has been held in Washington DC, Sydney, Australia, and London, usually in August or September. Choosing San Antonio in July seems kind of strange very hot then, but arranging a large conference is difficult. So well be on the road with the RV from mid-July through August, probably going to Fredicksburg in TX after San Antonio, then onwards! emoticon

Weve been wanting to return to Branson and explore Missouri, and some of the surrounding states. I dont see us going too far from CA past mid-September with the RV because of the weather issues. I realize that for some, August is difficult because of timing going south for the winter, but August or early September would work best for us. Anyway, Ill keep checking to see what the group decides.

One thing we need to think about is the time of the month and the location. The farther north we go, we need to think about the closing of campgrounds. Snow comes early in some place. But then I don't think that would both Heather and Alex :-) :-)

I had suggested the North Shore of MN, Dulutg, Grand Marais, Two Harbors but the campgrounds close early and the pickin's are much more slim. Lake Itasca is about a 2 hr. drive from Duluth. This is the head waters of the Mississippi and you can walk across. Lots of scenic and "hiking trails to walk plus all the activities in Duluth

Oct. would be good for the Nashville area but we were there getting ready to go over the pass at Gatlinburg and Storm Sandy came in, closing the road with feet of snow. That was the end of Oct. Campgrounds were still open then.

Love Branson and if later in the fall, we could continue south from there.
Just some thoughts from me.

Already posted in dly thread, I have to work 3 out of the 4 weekends in sept this next year. I will be curious to see what you all decide though. Mike and I will discuss this after a place & date get decided. My sucky work schedule and lack of cooperation with trades for days off make it more difficult for me but I can miss a rally if need be. I like all the areas suggested We did Co. springs last year and it was beautiful ! Of course, you all make your decisions based on how many can attend. That is what makes a fun rally.

Okay.....we have checked out distances to all the places mentioned and of course Niagara Falls is the best for us travel wise~~
BUT we checked each place for Marianne & Pete and Niagara Falls is the furthest for them~

Branson is almost the same distance for us and for Marianne and Pete ( we would have 200 miles more....LOL....which is nothing really eh? )

Colorado Springs would be the longest distance for us. Nashville and Pigeon Forge are in between the shortest distance for us and the longest. ( and about the same distance from here for us )

So we will wait and see what everyone has to say for what they would like..... emoticon

And we would have to keep in mind to get back home before it snows~~so no later than the end of September would be best for us....

PS~~keep in mind too ....when you are deciding for yourself...that Alex and I have not yet made up our minds to go ( no matter where it is~~)
Alex has started talking about flying back to Scotland for a visit ( I have been after him all the 11 years we have been here to Canada to do this so if he says he would rather use our money to go back to Scotland....that is what will happen>
( again...that is not a given either )

Love the idea of the Midwest and sept - oct for a time. Unless unexpected things happen we will plan to be there.

I go by the name of PJ and live north of KC, MO. Winter in East Texas.

Onward and Downward

Its always too soon to quit.

It may take me longer to get to my goal than my original plan but I will get there.

OK Ladies, I realize it may sound early to start thinking about our Rally a year in advance but we would like to get as many members as we can. The only way that is possible is if we start early with your input.

While sitting around our campfires at TeePee Campground, we threw out several suggestions. The majority felt Branson would be wonderful as there is so much to experience there and centrally located. Of course, we all loved Treasure Lake so to see if it is possible for Joe and Tammy to arrange our group to stay, I private messaged Tammy and much to my delight it can be arranged. That does not mean it's a done deal! I just wanted to make sure it was possible before I mentioned it.

A few other suggestions were Nashville area, Pigeon Forge area (think Dollywood), Niagra falls and the Colorado Springs area.

Now I am opening it for anyone to make a suggestion and have a discussion.

We have members from CA to Maine and Canada so don't be afraid to suggest somewhere we are not aware of. Our country is so beautiful the suggestions are endless.

So let's talk about it. We usually meet around late Sept or early to mid October depending on our destination!
