Welcome, Lolema. Congratulations on getting a MH. We upgraded this year to a 28 ft Winnebago Vista, and are still towing our Toyota Yaris we bought for the smaller RV we used to have. What kind of MH did you get? I'd love to tow a 4 wheel drive vehicle - maybe a couple of years down the road :)

We're only a day's drive from Custer and really looking forward to it.

Hi Lolema, Welcome to our team! I went to write a message on your Spark Page but it's set to private so I have to welcome you here. We have a 38ft Class A MH and love it. At the present time we are towing a PT Cruiser which we also love.

What kind of MH are you looking at? Are you going with new or used? I am always excited to have someone join the RV lifestyle which is so much fun.

A group of members of the RV Enthusiasts are meeting in Custer, SD next week. We are coming in from all over. I hope you follow our fun through our posts, look for the thread we have set up for the Custer Rally.

Looking forward to getting acquainted with you and yes, we are here to help motivate, encourage and support you on your journey to good health!

Lolema, welcome to the team. We have a 5th wheel so don't tow a vehicle, but we do have many team members who drive MHs and I'm sure you'll get plenty of replies. We are a very chatty bunch. I hope to see you in the threads. Introduce yourself and let us help you on your journey to better health.

We are in the process of buying our first Motorcoach. We have had the tent, travel trailer and now graduated to the biggie!

We will be towing one of our two Jeeps! Probably the 95 as it is fixed up for off roading to
get us to the gold mines!

Hopefully, we will be hitting in the road by the 28th.

Ooops! If only I could READ, I would see that you mentioned the Motorhome info. Good luck, and let us know what you come up with. I am pleased I was able to add a link, lol.

We tow a Jeep 4x4, because we like to go off-roading in the desert. The last couple of years we towed a Jeep Wrangler, my husband's purchase, and it has a manual transmission, which I couldn't drive very well, especially in strange cities. This spring we got a used Jeep Cherokee with an automatic transmission, so I'll be able to drive it also. One of my friends just bought a new Jeep Grand Cherokee to tow - lots of space, comfort, plus 4x4 if needed. Motorhome magazine publishes an annual Dinghy Towing Guide - you've probably already checked it out, but if not, here's the link: www.motorhomemagazine.com/Dinghy-Tow

We have a couple of friends that tow Saturns and our DIL has a PT Cruiser and I can vouch for the leg room in it. Especially the back seat. Another friend has a Toyota Pilot that was comfortable but I don't see them listed in the towing guide any more.

The search goes on.

When we were looking for a tow car we heard good things about the Saturn, but as Tammy said, they're no longer made and we wanted something new. We also needed something light because we have a 24 foot RV. So we bought a Toyata Yaris, manual transmission, that I love. It is a small car and my husband is 6'2" - he doesn't drive it except on our trips.

Great gas mileage and handles well however.

We tow a purple PT Cruiser which one of my Spark friends promptly dubbed as Barney. We really love and have no intentions of changing. I like that there is so much room I'm it and comfortably fits four and both front & back has lots of leg space.

We have a sticker on the back that says

I JUST GO WHERE I'M TOWED

As you can imagine, that gets lots of comments.

We like our Saturn Vue. Some of our RVing friends had one, and it came highly recommended by them. Of course, the fact that they don't make them any more could be a bit of an issue :-)

DH is over 6 feet tall and is a large man [2X] and he is comfortable in it. I don't do well in smaller vehicles because of the after effects of a wreck we were in ten years ago, and the Saturn is great for me. I just tell you so that if someone recommends something similar to a Saturn Vue.

My name is Tammy and I live in SW Missouri.

What kind of vehicle do you tow behind your motor home and what do you like and dislike about it?

When we bought our motor home in Florida we needed a car as we traded in the 5th wheel and truck. Our salesman had a friend that bought cars at auction and he looked for one for us. I had read that Chevy Malibu was a good tow car and he found one and we bought it. It has been an excellent car and drives very nice BUT: It is so hard to get in and out of now that I'm having trouble with my knees. The floor and the bottom of the door opening are not level. I notice DH being 6' 5" has some trouble too. If someone sits in the back seat they have very little leg room.

I have the Motor Home Dinghy Towing Guide books so I guess I have to do some searching.

If you have a tow car that you do or don't like, please let me know.

Ann
