It's an opportunity to exchange postcards with Girl Scout/Guide troops all around the world and learn about what they do and where they live. Last year was the first I heard of it, and my troop participated for the first time. We sent out 30 postcards and received 114 postcards from 48 states and 6 countries. Then for our booth at Thinking Day, we had a big display board with all of the postcards, and the girls talked about what they learned and their favorite cards.
