I agree with David, I usually taper down, do and easy run 2 days before and none the day before.

Good luck and let us know how you do!

I'm not a personal trainer, I only play one on TV.

With that in mind, I probably wouldn't change much in your normal week. I'd do a shorter run as your last run before the race and take a rest day one day prior.

Just keep your week (including the race) to your normal weekly mileage.

Let us know how you do!

I normally run 11 - 13 miles per week and I have worked up to running 6 miles in a run. I usually run 3 - 4 days a week depending on my schedule.

What is the longest you have run recently and how much are you typically running each week?

Hello everyone. I am running in my first 8K this Saturday and I am a little nervous. Any suggestions on how to work out this week? Thanks for any input.

I had a great run today. I had planned to do my usual 8K run. I've been really babying my foot, not doing too much (think i've had achilles tendonitis) so I haven't been running like I've wanted.

So, today I ended up doing 15K, and felt really good. I haven't done that distance since July when I did my half-marathon. I had planned to keep on with some longer runs, maybe one every couple of weeks but this is my first one over 10K since July.

Feeling pumped, and can't wait to do it again!

unfortunately, I've caught a cold and have been out of the game for a few days. Colds seem to settle deep into my chest if I'm not careful. It's killing me not to run though!

I am planning on getting a couple easy in today.
Not a fan of the wind either! that and humid days are the worse for me.

I am hoping to get out for a run this morning, but it is SO windy here. I swear its been blowing a gale for 2 weeks. Sometimes when its like this, I get my hubby to drop me off somewhere and I just run home, or vice versa....depending on the wind direction. Lazy huh? Lol but...its REALLY windy.

Anyway, other than the wind, its a beautiful day. So I do plan to get out there.

Anyone else?
