Oh yeah, ordered a vest too & will run facing traffic. Thank you all for the advice. Wish me luck!

Get a headlamp! It will make you more visible to cars, but it will also help you avoid potholes, branches and rocks, and anything else in the street that could potentially throw off your balance. It took me a few years to finally get one and now I can't imagine running through the winter without it.

I have a reflective hat and a reflective vest. I think my pants and shoes also have reflective bits. They also make reflective tape that you can stick to whatever you have already.

Some people use lights that strap around the ankles.

Make sure you run facing traffic so you can see the cars.

When running pre-dawn, I wear a reflective vest. It helps cars see you.

Hi all. I'm a teacher who has gotten back into a great routine that includes a 4 mile run. Summer is almost over & the only way I can keep this up is to run early early morning or late evening in the dark. I live in Vermont and will be running along both country dirt roads and along the side of a highway. Any suggestions for maximum visibility? I will eventually move to the treadmill in my basement, but I'm not ready yet!
