Very nice! I love gadgets. I have the Nike+ that goes with the iPod & Nike shoes. Have fun!

I love my garmin 305. It was $179.00 when I bought mine but since the 405 is now out...the price is probably going to be lower.
If you run in an area with really tall buildings or in very wooded areas the satelites may not pick up as well. I live in a rural area so that is not a problem.
I do love my numbers. I love seeing exactly how far I have run and knowing my pace. It allows me to change my running course at any time. I have not used the feature yet but you can even run against the computer. You can set it to beep when you reach a certain distance...like every mile. And when you reach a certain time...like 30 mins. My 305 came with a heart monitor and you can set it to beep if your heart rate goes lower or higher than a set number.
I am sure that I am missing some of the features. Some of the older Garmin models do not come with a heart monitor. But if that isn't something that you care about then you could get one of the cheaper older models.
Hope this helps you out. If you have any other questions...then feel free to ask.

could someone tell us about the garmin..

I wonder which would be the more suitable purchase?

How do these things work?
I am sooo addicted to those fancy red numbers on my treadarama... it's like my handicap.. or something...

perseverating about how I will run without knowing my "speed" and distance...
how do these things do it?

oh well...
i beg ---pah leeeezzzz fill us in on the Garmin....
