1st of all...just want to say thanks to all of you for great advice!!
I have thought of getting it serviced but there has been so many problems that I am afraid that I will be spending so much on the repair that just for a few hundred more I can get a new one with a better motor.
Also, let's face it...it is sort of a reward for doing sparks and for not bingeing in over 5 months (woo hoo).
Now I have to say it is so sad everytime I walk by Christine...but part of me is laughing because I am truly tickled pink that I am going to be getting a new one. Currently I am thinking of ways that I am going to dump her...when is bulk pickup??
Seriously, I have been looking at Nordic Track C2500 and the Horizon (CrochetLocket has this one) T900. Not sure which one I am going to get yet.....but all your advice is greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much!!

I used the "Treadmill Doctor" when I was looking to buy (treadmilldoctor.com), which really helped me assess what I needed. Originally I had decided I didn't want to buy anything used, but ended up finding a great deal on Craigslist, for a barely used Vision Fitness treadmill. I've had it about a year now, never yet been serviced but probably should get a tune-up at some point.
Good luck and let us know what you end up with!

We have a ProForm 770EKG bought from Sears about 8 years ago. It has been a good treadmill and served us well. Have you thought about having yours repaired? Ours was overheating and shutting itself off. We thought the motor was bad. However, after having a tech from Sears come out to look at it, we just needed to replace the belt. The motor was fine, but the belt was worn out and causing the motor to overheat and shut off. We replaced the belt and now it is working just like new. Although it was expensive to have a tech come out and repair, we saved money over the cost of purchasing a new one.

Bloo~
Mine's a ProForm 580X. Bought at Sears in Fall 03 after hubby deployed. I can't tell you much about the motor as the user's manual doesn't seem to address that. It DOES have various preset programs, incline up to 10, you can plug it in to a computer, cd player, get iFit programs from the web...but I've never taken advantage of those options. It's been very dependable with minimal (read NO) maintenance, and 4 furry felines in the household. It folds up so it can be tucked away a little bit...
The longest I have run/walked on it at one time is about 70 minutes...but I use it almost on a daily basis at least during the Winter/yuck months.
Nowadays it squeeks some when I run on it and when I change incline, but I am sure with a little bit of tender loving care it will go for a good number of years.
Best of luck finding a replacement for the dearly departed.

I go to my neighborhood rec center & we just joined the JCC to get a reduced rate for the kids' summer camp.
Sorry, I can't help you. I do have my bike trainer contraption........Do you ever go on ebay? or Amazon? I got my trainer on Amazon--It was almost 1/3 retail & some of the parts were in original packaging, so I knew it had never been used.

Here's some advice--if your treadmill is trying to make you break your teeth, stop using it!!!!! (sorry)
Funny you named her Christine---as in the Stephen King car story?...who kills people?... Is that WHY you named her that?

Ok all...as some of you know...my dear Christine has finally ran her last lap....kicked the bucket...so I am looking for advice from all my fellow running sparkies. I am usually on the tready for about an hour and I need a really good tready that will last me.
What kind of tready do you have...what kind of motor and how much did you pay for it? If you don't mind sharing it will really help me pick the right treadmill.
Thanks so much!!
Bloo :)
