My guess is that the school tracks would be open to the public but not during school hours. (for safety of children) My rule of thumb is if there aren't locks on the gates then it's probably ok.

Changes are best made when we are aware of the need, recognize the process necessary, and focus on one-step-at-a-time.

Johnson Ferry Baptist Church DOES have an open track BUT it is indoors and only 1/13th of a mile. That's a lot of right (or left) turns. They do loan clickers to track laps...and I think sermon recordings. I've walked the track reading a book...

I did find the track at East Side Elementary open a few weeks ago, so I did a few laps. I think it's a quarter mile track, but I'm not sure (I forgot my pedometer that day.)

Hopefully someone will have a definitive answer....

Yes. Hopefully someone will know, because I can't seem to find any info on the internet about it.

I suppose if worse came to worse I could call Wheeler HS and ask them. But I was hoping someone around here might have the info.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I am interested in it too.

Hi all,

I live in East Cobb (Wheeler High School zone) and am wondering if any of you guys know if any of the local high school tracks are open to the public.

I went on the Cobb School District's website as well as Wheeler's website and cannot find any info about this.

I normally run on my treadmill indoors, but I am looking to get out and get some fresh air while it's nice and cool out! Don't really want to go down to the river - it's always kind of crowded there except right before it gets dark, and then I don't feel safe enough.

I used to run at the Cobb County YMCA, but I'm not sure if they are limiting that little trail to members only now. Plus, I'd really like to do some work on a real track.

I also heard a rumor that a couple of the churches allow members of the public in to use their tracks. Does anyone know anything about this? I heard that Johnson Ferry Baptist is one of the churches that does this.

Thanks for any assistance!
