Today would have been a perfect kayaking day. I need to find someone local I can kayak with. Instead I have walked Buddy three times already today. I want to get one more in this evening. I didn't take my statin last night. No tremors today. I also did not experience brain fog, so I finished up my online boating safety course. Now I can captain my son's Seadoo and the Jet Skis. Woohoo! My swim friend and I are planning to try to swim on Tuesday. That will be a big tell to how much strength she lost over tax season, and me due to the heart event.

I have ordered a knee compression sock from the website you gave us - thank you for that. I think because my swelling is so high on the leg it may be meniscus related so hopefully the knee compression works a bit better.

Medical cost are also wiping me out and my HSA fund is pretty empty. It was all the MRI's and specialists that cost me so much this year. Our vacation fund is also pretty bare so most of our time off this year will be spent at home and hopefully with good enough weather to kayak.

All three of you, I pray that you can get these knees in good working order again.

Buddy and I lapped a downtown block today. That was after a big outing to the dentist, then drove halfway to the beach for good pie for a friends bday and then across the river on the ferry, just for the fun of it, followed by a scenic drive down the Washington side of the Columbia and home. It was a wonderful day and the weather was perfect.

Bad news at the dentist is that I will be responsible for about $5000. for the implant after my damaged tooth is pulled. So far hospital bill is less than $300. for all the heart stuff. Glad I have a medical emergency fund set aside. Buds surgery on his nose is going to cost about 1200-1300 dollars. So that is going to wipe out my vacation money this year, till I get the medical fund back up and then I play on whatever is over that. Glad the cruise was paid for almost two years ago.

My left leg went crooked, back in 2014 while at an all 60's high school reunion, because of the way I was standing, for a class group picture and I didn't move my leg when I should have, and it hurt, but, like I said, I didn't move the leg and it went crooked, and I have had rehab for it back in 2015 and now I have bone on bone, and now, a tear in/on my meniscus and it is just my left leg, so, I'll be having surgery soon, hopefully,

Both of my legs swell - some weight-related, some genetics, some age - So I wear compression stockings every day. I have had fairly good luck ordering online from www.discountsurgical.com

They have a wide variety of styles, sizes, prices and compressions.

Val, my left knee has been like inflamed/swollen? Up since for 4 ever it seems, and my PA wanted me to wear support hose/compression socks? But, I said I wouldn't wear them, but, I did get some, but, I think they are too small and I have not been able to get another pair, yet. I did wear them once.

I had one torn meniscus repaired and the same knee also had a bakers cyst that caused me problems. Now my other knee has both the torn meniscus and bakers cyst. I don't believe they did anything with the cyst on the first knee, but it doesn't bother me like my new one does. My whole calf is swollen and I have not been able to reduce that swelling in months. I am wearing a compression sock on that leg and it is not helping.

I know that knee replacements are in my future from what the doctor said after my knee surgery. Getting old is not for the weary.

I always click on all of my sparks notices even if I do not post anything also I thought no one was posting, which sometimes happens, and yes, sparks sometimes, do not notify us, or at least that is what I thought.

So I had an MRI on Monday of this week and they called me today with the results, the MRI shows a tear in my meniscus, so now that and bone on bone? Well, I asked my PA to order, the MRI, she didn't want to but, I said I want one, done and told her why, so she finally agreed to order it. Hopefully I can get these taken care of, I will be following up with a 2nd opinion on my knee other then the surgeon, I had here in town. As soon as my PA office gets me an appointment, hopefully there will be a good . positive thing in getting all of this done.

We are finally in spring to stay I believe. I prefer the cooler temperatures of spring to the hot ones of summer.

Yes, I too have had to set myself back up to receive emails that go to my outside account. It is strange how they just get turned off.

I hope you all have a nice Memorial Day weekend.

If you miss one, Spark drops you from the notifications. And sometimes, I seem to get dropped for no reason... Usually, it is because I missed clicking on a notification, though. And then there are the times when Spark seems to clean out their e-mail lists and you don't get anything...

We are finally getting some springlike weather like we should have gotten in March. It got up to 70F. yesterday... Sunny and about the same today, back to cloudy, rainy, cooler tomorrow. We may actually have sun for Memorial Day.

Today was my best day yet. Walked the whole park with Buds and then later a second shorter walk. I helped rescue a chicken. I went out to lunch with a friend and we did sketching for a couple hours while we visited. And I still feel mostly good although the evening chills and shivering are setting in again. At least it is only in the evenings now. Also, I had two dizzy episodes with the monitor, so I pushed the button and hope that they can figure something out.

Carol, congratulations on the job. I found prozac got me through grief and tears at work, but I really don't like the way it makes me feel, and I had to do the grieving at a later time. Retiring really helped and sadly so does menopause. I can behave how I want at home alone and less hormones brings it's own peace. I kind of felt sorry for my EA. My dad and the other EA's mom and dad all passed within a month of each other. So she loved and nurtured us for months. I still think of her like a sister. One thing about work that I did like is that when the students came into class, I could take a break from the grieving and focus outside of myself.

In Lincoln they have what's called Mourning Hope for kids. The people at grief share said it was wonderful.

I started a new job yesterday. It was actually a good day. No tears which I was worried about. Now to keep it that way.

They live on the outskirts of Indianapolis. So they should have excellent resources nearby. I forget that not everyone lives in backwater counties like me with little resources. Although, I have Portland within an hours drive. Guess I should have thought that through better. Thank you for the advice. I will look up the syndrome. Such a sad name.

The Compassionate Friends is one for parents who have lost children. They have a lot online support that is broken down into categories. I think your great niece would benefit better from one that focuses on still born and infant loss. Mostly because they have a much different situation than us who were able to hold our babies. I believe the syndrome is called Empty Arms. Some local hospitals also offer groups that are more specific.

I am so sorry for her loss and I too hope her faith helps the healing process. I have a niece that baby only lived 7 days and my heart hurts for her. Thankfully she is able to have another child and just let me know she is pregnant, but that doesn't take away the grief she has for her lost baby. emoticon

Prayer requests for my great niece and her family. She lost her baby this morning. He was due in two weeks. She is such an incredible woman. She has great capacity for love, she is smart, healthy, living the American ideal. She has tremendous faith and has lived her life in service to God and community and the people she cares for. I am praying that all that will sustain her. I haven't seen her since she was a little girl, but I am sitting here blubbering for her, her mom and my sister. I can't imagine what she is feeling. I pray there are support groups readily available for her like this one has been for me.

I am having a moment of greater empathy for those of you who have lost children. I want to say something to my friend, but although she has talked to me since I sent her the Mother's Day Love text, she has never mentioned it to me. So we pretend it doesn't exist. Which we both buy into that method of coping.

Mother's Day will forever be a day of sadness for my Sister and her family.

Please, what is the name of the support group for families who have lost children? I would like to pass it on to my sister.

Health update: Feeling almost human today. Kind of exciting. Will see how far I can walk in a few minutes, because I do need to get my strength back up now that I don't feel like I have the flu

Fun stuff: The garbage man takes a break by the park. Easy parking and quiet. I just looked up and he is dancing his arms in the passenger seat. He looks happy. Wonder what he was listening to.

Other stuff: My son came and mowed my lawn for me on Friday. Did not realize how much that was bothering me until I was able to look out and sigh happily. Also, I have over 20 blooms on my peony. It loved being greenhoused this winter during that late freeze. I had thrown a clean plastic tub over it and neglected to remove it for a couple weeks. It grew like crazy. My green beans are up and the swiss chard continues to need harvesting. It makes good dried chips too. My granddaughter loves making kale chips. I am all for it. Spritz of almond oil, seasoning of her choice and she is getting her green veggies. I don't think dehydrating reduces nutrients anymore than cooking. I hope not anyway. Will have to look that up.

Carol - I don't think you are being too sensitive. I have two living sons and I do my best to accept Mother's Day for them. On Saturday night I picked up a picture of my deceased son and Stairway to Heaven came on the radio. I broke down and had no idea it was coming. I was glad I got that over with before Sunday when my other sons were coming by. It is a hard day for many weather because of their mother's being gone or a child.

Cathy - I think that was a very nice thing you did for your friend. As I have been getting older I make sure that the people that mean a lot to me know that they do. Sometimes we go through life and don't express how we feel maybe thinking others already know it.

I have been semi-boycotting Mother's Day for years. I know how sad it makes my best friend. She lost her baby to a tubal pregnancy and then they did a hysterectomy on her. I also wallow in my healthy children's love. This year I sent her a Happy Mother's Day note with an explanation that I was not trying to make her sad but I just wanted her to know that I love her and that she has been my surrogate mom for years. I am as close to her and in some ways closer to her than I am my own sister. She listens, she cares, and she was there for me throughout all this health crisis. I don't want to make the pain worse, but I want her to know how much love she truly spreads on all her friends. She has always been a Mom at heart.

Not sure this was any help, but I truly do not care for the trite messages from people who are not my children or adopted children and grandchildren. I think the message needs to be sent with love, not as a polite thing to do on the holiday.

PS: What you are doing is what you need. Glad you are taking self care.

Hope you can get better help for your knee.

Dr. is scheduling me with a counselor for my binge eating and a wellness coach.

Endodontist said the tooth is beyond repair, so extraction and implant next.

However, I feel worse today since I have been home. Also, I quit driving. Making too many mistakes with the dizziness, slow reaction and brain fog.

I won't be in Kayak shape by summer, but I will not let that stop me. I do need to get back to a better eating routine. It isn't awful, but I need to get my portions under control.

My knee/leg has been swollen for months and I'm even wearing a compression sock every day. It is from a baker's cyst and it doesn't seem to be improving. I wasn't happy with my orthopedic PA and so I finally stopped going to them. I will bring the subject up with my family doctor again when I see her again.

Good luck Cathy!

Thank you. I have phone appt. on 15th and see my new GP on the 6th. I see the endodontist tomorrow. My wonderful friend is closing her office to to take me. I feel so blessed.

I have had an abcessed tooth since December. I am sure fighting all that infection for so long did not help. The urgent care dentist said I didn't need antibiotics. Next time I will tell them about my compromised immune system. Regular dentist last week put me on antibiotics and finally, my tooth quit hurting but the swelling is not completely gone. Anyway, I need a reroot and that is why the endodontist. Consult only tomorrow or I would cancel. Still feeling off. balance weird. super weak. But each day a little better. Going out to lunch with my friend today. It will be so nice.

I did make it to TOPS, but driving a little scary as I still seem to be in a brain fog. Probably because the hospital dehydrated me and did not give me saline solution even after I asked. Enough rambling whining. I am truly blessed and intend to be in kayak shape for summer.

Praying for you through this month. This team is such a blessing.

update about me. I had chest pains, followed by nitro which stopped the pain, EKG and Stress test both wonky, angiogram showed a little plaque on an artery. Overheard a nurse telling someone I was really lucky. I was released last night and weak as a kitten. Not suppose to do anything for a week. I will go to TOPS on Monday. That is good for my soul. And I have an appointment with Endodontist on Wednesday. Not sure if I am going yet. I will make that decision Tuesday morning.

I find May a hard month. It starts with Joshua's death date, followed by Mother's Day. We end the month with Joshua's birthday.

I have not worked his death or birthday since he died. I prefer to take vacation days and spend them as I want. His anniversary day is spent with my middle son and the last couple of years with my youngest too. It is a day spent bonding and eating bad food. I am so thankful for my sons.
