Love sunshiny cheerful people. Brightens my day too.

So what size are your baskets? Are they big enough to hold thematic gift stuff? If so, now is the time to start collecting fun items for your loved ones to gift to later in the year. Gardening supplies for your gardener, movie night items for the movie buff, bath items for the bather etc. Lots of these things can be found at the dollar store.

If they are tiny you might consider painting rocks to put in them and then delivering them to your nearest assisted living facility. The residents would have fun looking over the rocks and hiding them later for visiting kids to find. Anyway, have fun whatever you decide and be sure to let us know.

I am feeling very grateful for a perfect day. Family is healthy, I am finally at the tail end of the flu and feeling human. Weather a perfect 70 degrees. House and yard in fairly decent shape and I have a good book to read.

Hello all of you wonderful Sparkpeople!

OK...

I am at 156 pounds and holding. Atleast I am not gaining, right? What makes me want to jump up and down? I am not considered an "obese" anymore. "Obesity" to me is like a bad word. You know what I mean, right?

I have meatballs in the crockpot for meatball hoagies for dinner. I am starving! Included is a fruit and vegetable. How about you?

From now on, I know to do Sparkpeople first thing in the morning after the iced coffee ritual. This way my day is going to start off happy instead of stressed when writing articles. Makes sense, right?

A question... I have a ton of small baskets. What type of crafts should I use the baskets for? I know gift baskets, but what type? Any other uses?

Don't forget to stay hydrated!

Also, pray for those who do not or cannot pray for themselves.

Have a blessed Sunday.

You Only Grow Old If You Want To!

Mom is a tough cookie. She even says she is stubborn and will do it her way. Seems to keep her strong in spirit for sure. Had a relaxing day today and they got her to pan Bingo this afternoon. She won 4 games and got 3 prizes.

More rain coming tonight into tomorrow. It shows us in a heavy rain yet again. There is still a lot of flooding and they are seeking help from FEMA if possible. We are just muddy yet. Not sure what this rain will do for us.

Your mom sounds like one tough cookie. It is hard when your mind thinks you can do something, but the body still needs time to heal.

Our yard is still wet in back with mud but the rest has dried up well. But we did find a place in the BR where the water has stained the ceiling and it's right over my head in when in bed. We may have to re-roof and then paint the ceilings. Another leak found above the front door.

Lots of road damage and sink holes in the roads. I did bottom mom's car out on a huge pothole that we couldn't see. They have since filled it with gravel but that erodes away rapidly. The car behind me got hung up and had to have help moving out of it.

Mom is doing well in rehab. Started to complain and we told her to stop and think. Certain things have to be done a certain way. It's not always the way you want. Wanted to go to church tomorrow but the Dr. said no as her surgery was just Mon. If she had gone home she would have been out and going for sure. Maybe next week when she is stronger.

We had our rain barrell run this year, but we did finally get a good rain this morning that hopefully filled it back up.

I hope your mom is still doing well and that your waters have receded.

It amazes me how every year different areas suffer from one extreme while another not far away has the opposite issue - Flooding vs drought. That is a lot of water and I will continue to pray that all goes well with the flooding as well as with your mother. I'm glad to hear she is doing well. emoticon

Let's see, 2" rain on the 19th, 6" rain on the 20th and 4.5" rain on the 21st. Hummm, no wonder we have had major flooding in our area. But then 2 miles to the NW of us, they had 16.5" and even more flooding than we have here. We do have water under our house and under the Texas room. Didn't move from the house today. Yesterday we could walk out on about half our patio.

Mom was moved to inpatient rehab yesterday and needed street clothes, undies etc but we couldn't get anything to her until this evening. Now she can feel comfortable to be out of a double hospital gown and going to meals and therapy. She is not happy to be there but told her if she wants to continue to remain independent living at the age of 91. Her Dr.s wish to make sure she can. Prayers work and I thank you all for helping. She looks better than she has for a couple yrs. Also amazing what happens when the blood can circulate better.

Mom's surgery done Mon. but they couldn't wean her from the ventilator. They gave lots of meds and steroids and finally got it out this afternoon. She has a sore throat and told her not to chat with us. The heart valve replacement went great. They were going to try her on liquids this evening. We didn't go up due to weather and huge downpours. Lakes and "snowplowing" through the streets to get home. Afraid of stalling like many cars did. I think we had 2" in about 20 mins. Things are looking up. She has a pulmonary Dr. consult now and a case manager to help up with helping her. She is very independent but needs help with groceries etc. Uses a walker full time so there will be some form of rehab.

Thanks for the good wishes. We did the last of the preop work today. Much more involved that we knew. And then we found out, people with this surgery are admitted to the hospital at midnight, (either Sun. or early Mon.) for the surgery on Mon. and someone is to stay with her. The actual getting her ready for surgery begins about 5:30 AM to 6 AM. Can't imagine how tired I am going to be Mon.Maybe lots of coffee. The waiting area is right by an in hospital Starbucks. Think I will bring my own :-)

Today I had a doctor's appointment with the orthopedic doctor - had x-rays and there was both good and bad news - they gave me shots in both knees and said to hang in as long as I can because when I need surgery, both knees will be full replacements because of the type of erosion on my kneecaps. Hopefully the shots will keep me from needing it too soon. He said keep exercising and lose weight so when it happens, the recovery will be easier.

Threads all fixed and looking like they should be. SP techs did fix the problem.

Tomorrow I am taking mom for a CT of her body. She has a fear of confined places so is kind of nervous about it. Shared with her how to think and what to do. I know they will help her with some sedation if it comes to that. It may take a while as they are taking specific measurement of the heart before the surgery.

Hello, I have been keeping track of the corrupted threads discussions, because I did not see a problem on my screen. Then I realized I work primarily on my iPhone, which defaults to a simpler format. When I switched to the desktop version, I could see what you meant! No one on any of my other teams posted about it happening there, so what a strange occurrence. Glad it got fixed, however it happened.

I checked out a couple of my other teams and everything seemed fine. I didn't have time to check a lot, but hit couple threads on a couple of the more active teams.

Refreshing the page seemed to work yesterday, but doesn't on this page.

Its happened on all my teams too. Kind of hard to do some games when the current post is the only one seem and then after posting, all the posts are gone. Interesting way to chat!

Slow & steady makes a winner of us. Even if we hit pitfalls, get up. Know that a new day is right around the corner.
Try to be all that you can be. Work at it a day at a time.

I think our thread is wonky again. I wonder if this is happening on other teams.

This is one of the older teams.

Been away from here for a while. Busy with mom and tried to start back home but due to her health, can't. On Weds. she had a stent placed on her heart and in a couple weeks will have the aortic valve replaced. So will be here taking her places and helping her out.

Hoping June is a better month.
