Wow, didn't realize this thread was here! It sorta got abandoned years ago! I guess I'm not a big fan of additional homework since I'm in grad school, but I'm with you on the decluttering. I've been doing that since about 2007, and now I sort of have a pattern of getting rid of something to offset each new thing that comes in the house. Except for books - they have a blanket exception as a professional resource...

emoticon

I think decluttering is part of getting healthy for me - I just don't want stuff around that does not represent who I am anymore.

My homework is to get some de-cluttering done (10 min a day) and stay positive. Last week I hid out :P

so I'm going to be honest and say that I haven't sat down to make my collage yet (which is part of the reason for the extended delay in updating the challenges).

Maybe tomorrow as I'm swamped again today...

How's everyone doing on this one so far?

I have not had much opportunity to go grocery shopping this week and so I ended up eating out more than I had been. As my budget is unfortunately briefly taking priority over truly healthy choices, I spent very little on the needed meals (less than $4 each) however, I could have spent less by being able to go to the grocery store, but none in within the needed distance from work for me to go on my lunch break. Next week should not be as crazy, but until I close on the house, I'm eating cheap.

OMG! I sooo needed this, basically, everyday! It was so nice to just sit this week!

PS - The community theatre production I'm in opened on Friday night, so only 6 more performances and it's over! (well, for this show and a couple months!)

1. I did nothing for 5 minutes after I did the challenge and after I stretched. My mind was going in a different million directions. I tried to focus on relaxing. It felt great. I looked at the clock twice because I thought it had been over 5 min. and it was only 2! LOL

2. I read the article on brown fat. It sounds like something that could possibly help people in the future. I myself enjoy knowing that exercise, eating right, and drinking water is all I need to do!! It sounds easy, and is so difficult. I just keep going!

Thanks Jona!

Making a budget and sticking to it really does help whether you're talking about money, time, calories, or something else all together. It gives you an ideal for that time span that it covers and goals to work toward. A focus. In today's society, focusing on one objective can be very difficult!

Challenge Name: Fiber!
Date: 03/09/09 - 03/015/09

Speaking of one objective... On the two days that I reached my recommended fiber, I ate less that day and the next day felt generally better. I don't know why it's so hard to get in my fiber EVERY day... maybe this will be an extra goal for the next week for me.

Challenge Name: Research
Date: 03/09/09 - 03/015/09

Well, I made this challenge then I didn't find the time to get on the computer after I got home every night from work. I've read several today, but I know I would have retained more had I read one per day.

It was a bit odd to do nothing else while eat my lunches at work last week, but I found that I finished in just about the same amount of time, and only ate one serving.

It helped, but again, it felt a bit odd.

So I've been doing some soul searching and really thinking about this over the course for the entire week. Here's where I'm at:

1. I'm scared to find a new job, but I know that I would not only be happier but I would do a great job.
2. I want to be involved in music and performance more. This could be community musicals, playing in an orchestra or band, or singing soloistically.
3. I do want to get married and have a family one day. Simply admitting this to myself is just crazy to me!
4. I want to be healthy, but I'm afraid not have the "big girl" facade to hide behind.

These are just a few of the things I have realized over the week.

(I understand that this can be very personal so I didn't expect but did hope for some responses on this).

There is a co-worker of mine who has been making a bunch of minor slips recently. She went through an entire day without one, so I sent her a little message to let her know that her improvement had been noticed so that she wouldn't think the only time she gets noticed is when she was messing up.... you know how that can feel if you've ever been in that situation.

Challenge Name: Love my "me" time
Date: 2/7/09 - 2/13/09

I have started scheduling my time to incorporate my passions with the following small steps:

- I am limiting my tv time to one episode of one show per night. (could be 30 or 60 minutes, but only one show)
- I have one task that I want to accomplish or at least get a good start on each evening. This could be filing mail, cleaning a room in the house, exercising, etc.
- Then after these are done, I have my time to relax before bed which could be a warm bubble bath, reading a few chapters in my book, or playing with my doggies.

I hope everyone has had an opportunity to at least take a look at how to make time for what makes you happy.

I made sure that I took time before bed each night after my stretches to just read. I set to read a chapter or how ever much I could get through before I was too tired to read. :) It slept better than I have in a long time.

Challenge Name: Your Time.. Is it?
Date: 1/31/09 - 2/6/09

I've been looking at simply what my life goals are for the next 5 to 10 years. Aside from my health, I had no clear ideas until I stopped and thought about it this week. I have applied for a new job; it's one I was turned down for about a year ago due to no recent customer service experience, but things have changed a lot since then for.

I realized that as much as I "dream" about where I want to be, what I want to do, what I want to look like... I don't "act" like I really want any of it. I am changing this starting with my job application.

I make ToDo lists. That's what dictates my time. I don't remember to put my daily activities on it. As a result, my "daily" activities are always done to their best.

I will include proper eating, drinking enough water, and exercises to my list of ToDos everyday. :)

I noticed on the nights that I remembered to reflect before bed and to write down my "ToDos" as I thought of them, I slept much more soundly and peacefully. I woke up more rested and more ready to face the day ahead on the following morning.

I've decided to keep a notepad and writing utensil by my bedside so that if while I'm reflecting on my day a ToDo pops onto my mind, I can write it down without disturbing what relaxation I have already achieved by having to get out of bed to get the ToDo List.

My triggers: Stress, self-pity, lack of confidence, fear of change (I like myself now, but will I like the smaller/healthier me as much?), laziness/lack of energy

I was down due to: over-filling my schedule at work and home.

Focus trigger for February: stress
I will not over fill my day with unattainable expectations. I understand that I do not like to be on strict schedules so I will only give myself one or two item sot accomplish at home after work before bed and I sill try to accomplish them everyday to reach my overall goals.

+ 1 year: I will weigh 150 lbs., meditate and exercise will be part of my daily routine, and I will prepare all meals at home.

+ 6 months: I will weight 185 and meditate or exercise once a day.

+ monthly: I will enter my "weight-in" information on my start page and update my nutritional and fitness goals based on my progress. (When you update your weight, you need to go into your nutrition goals to update your recommended calories, fat, carbs, etc. to continue with similar results.)

+ weekly: I will update the PPCPT challenges, figure out my menu/grocery list for the next week, and clean my house to remove unnecessary clutter.

+ daily: I will drink no less than 8 cups of water, stay within my calorie ranges, be on the computer or watch tv for no more than one hour, and respond to the daily reflections email.
