Journaling is an amazing tool, because it allows you to get all the mental/emotional stuff out of your system, which is often what's at the core of reaching goals. Mind before matter. Granted, I don't journal every day, but I do it as often as I can (18-hr work days make that a little difficult sometimes). When I was best at it was when I made a commitment to write at least three pages first thing, as soon as I woke up. Sometimes it would be absolute drivel to start, but it always would end up somewhere that would catch my attention and make me that much more aware of how I'm doing. All the frustrations and celebrations have an opportunity to come out, and as with everything, the more you practice, the more you get out of it. I got the "morning pages" idea from an awesome book, called The Artist's Way (the author actually calls it "Morning Pages," as they should be written before you have any other stimuli in your day--fresh from the sleep state). It's funny; as I was going to bed last night, I even reminded myself to start up again this morning. (Er, kinda forgot. Will try again.)

Side note to Haute_Mama: You can do it! You're almost under the 4's. YAY YOU!

For me, I think it is very important. At times, even if I don't get any responses back on my blogs, it helps to at least get those emotions and feelings out of my head and onto paper/the computer. It is a release for me of sorts and I need to do it more often.

Journaling/blogging helps me in these ways:

1) It allows me to vent frustrations and painful experiences that I have kept bottled up for many years.

2) It allows me to "brag" when I need it! Not everyone in my real life always wants to listen when I want to talk about my workouts, etc.!

3) It allows me to analyze what I am doing right and wrong, and then fixing it.

4) It allows me to just talk about what's on my mind. I need that, because I am not first priority in my house as far as needs go, most of the time! I have a 4-year old and a self-employed husband who often needs my help, so this is my way to get MY needs out there.

Yeah Garber! Great to see ya!

I think journaling is important! For myself I journal what Im going to do. I am the type of person that has to see it to know what Im doing! Then I like to journal what I have done and the results. I like to look back and see my progress and my hang ups!

Journaling is something I have been thinking about alot lately. I love reading others journals - I just am not good at keeping one myself. I can talk your ear off but I'm just not great with putting my words down.

Do you think that journaling is important on this journey?
