Missed a couple of days as we drove down to the "Big Town" and met George's son and his fiancÚ for dinner. I gave them an old engagement ring of mine, no use sitting in a drawer not being used -- and they are both penniless. I remember those days.

Now today it was fairly nice this morning even though I slept until 6:45, so it was too late for me to take a walk, very bright out and it hurts my eye, but I decided to paint for an hour doing the hand brushed part around the top where the ceiling and wall meet. Then I can move faster with the roller when I go back out. Mornings are best as it's in the shade back there. It will get finished one of these days, and it's actually something I can do even if it's raining.

This morning I did a bit of painting - just to see if the color was right, which of course it wasn't but I knew the contractor in charge of doing the repair would fix the cracks and that was it. I have hated this builder ever since, actually even before, construction started. So it was no surprise that their Customer Service dept. would fall short also.

So that means I will have to paint the entire ceiling of both front and back porches -- and the back porch especially is BIG. But...... I'm the painter in the family so I guess it falls to me.

But DH had a doctor's appointment this morning so he left early so it has basically been a "me" day -- I did a lot of reading to make up for the painting. lol

Today was our red hat luncheon, tomorrow is council that is at 3 but will be a long meeting, yesterday at 3 was habitat meeting, before that at 10 am had a meeting for our churches garage sale. The 3rd week of the month is always busy. Still haven't got myself completely organized yet. Need to fall is coming and Bible study will start up, have to learn to work everything in. My head is twirling

Jumped out of bed for the early morning walk this morning, and noticed that a mile+ does not even have my new dog breathing hard vs Amber puffs and pants to make it. I guess that is a lesson for all of us, naturally age enters into it, but being slim and fit makes all the dif.

Then as it was so nice and cool out -- and doesn't seem like the bugs are moving around as much either, I did some extra watering, pots and stuff that aren't on the drip system. No new zucchini's have shown up yet, but there are blooms, so it's just a matter of time. I have one nice-sized zucchini, so I might try making a zucchini type of cake, and frosting it with a light frosting. I know it will get gobbled up.

And I love my quiet Sunday morning of getting all my Spark stuff done -- then I can move on to other things. The lens in my glasses are being replaced, so that other stuff definitely does not include "reading" but I'll make it through this somehow. Would be nice to have a back-up pair, but I went from contacts to glasses, so no backup.

Have a great Sunday everyone, and glad to see so many people starting to show up.

Off for a great 3 mile brisk walk before breakfast. Gotta love the California weather even though we have a drought!

You gals are both Sweethearts for taking the time to welcome me back!

I do believe in adopting from the "Rescue Me" thing on the Internet that covers all the states. I have adopted from there and have also put pets on there to be adopted, when for one reason or another a pet did not work out for me. And I have seen them placed in loving homes where they are getting the attention they deserve.

Poor little Bella -- I don't think she had any attention whatsoever in her short little life. She sticks to me like glue and I can tell she is jealous of the attention I give the other pets, but even though jealous, she does not nip or retaliate in any manner. And she does not bark, a common trait of these tiny little dogs. She can bark, and always warns me if someone is on our property, but I'm sooooo happy she barks for no reason.

Thank you again for being glad I am back. Hugs & Kisses, Eve

Hi Scottydog,
I am replying to your message about having adopted Bella and little terrier dog. I think that's
so great. Adopting is the best thing because ultimately you are probably saving a life. I
have a rescued/adopted chihuahua. He's older now - 11 years and has a heart murmur but he's basically healthy and a real important part of our life. He's not a barker either and he's not nippy as so many small dogs are. He's just a dream. Even my cat has accepted him and every once in a while the two try to play together. Long story short, I'm glad to be back here and hope you are doing well.

Well, I came home on the 30th of July -- had a delicious Mexican food lunch as I had no Mexican food the entire time I was gone. Took a nap, then went to see a little Rat Terrier I had heard about online. Yes, I adopted the little dog. And the first few days were rather hectic as she is really a hyper dog. Jumps on furniture, over furniture, up on people, licks me in the face - emoticon it's nice that she is friendly, but it's TOO MUCH!

She is finally calming down, and I'm glad to report she is not a barker. Even when we go on walks and other dogs are barking their heads off, she remains quiet. And my two cats have accepted her, but they still hiss at her often as she's a little more active than they like. lol

I guess it will all work out. Oh, and her name is Bella, and she minds really good. Comes immediately when you call her, and so far has not left the yard. Although it is fenced, she's so tiny she could crawl out under the gate if she wanted to leave.

Boy, it's been awhile since we posted on this thread, isn't it.

Well, as you know I'm back in Florida helping out my SIL who is now in rehab instead of ICU, and he is doing pretty good -- I'm hoping he can walk and drive by the time I am scheduled to leave on July 30. He told me he needed me here to help him with his physical therapy, but personally I think he was just lonely and wanted visitors! lol

Yesterday I took his laundry home to wash it, as he is able to wear scrubs in rehab, versus the hospital gown in ICU (big improvement) and he seems much happier now that he is kept busy with the PT and other therapy, it's pretty aggressive, just what he needed. And today I actually cut his hair for him. I should have taken a photo, everyone said it looked great. Of course he has that nice thick curly Italian hair that makes him look soooo good. So as you can see, my life right now pretty much revolves around him. Not a bad thing.

Got over 11,000 steps yesterday!

This morning I got up at 4:30 went for a walk (and that walk alone put me at my goal for steps) -- then I picked all the tomatoes on our tomato bushes and started a spaghetti sauce using those, garlic and onion, plus lots of spices. Just had some of it for lunch.

Watered plants and did my SP stuff. I'm pleased to be staying down at 133.4

I am living with stress more & more these days & trying to cope...waiting to find out when DH has next surgery & praying it's the last. Dreading more rain on the horizon today. And to top it off, have been invaded by scorpions! Hoping I make it through another night until the pest control guy comes to get rid of them! And so it goes....

Thanks for the "team" goodie, Eve, that looks really good!
