Hi everyone, this will be my first post since introducing myself. I知 new at this so be gentle, OK? Please, can anyone tell me if they have the same problem I am having? I started menopause in 1999 after the death of my first husband and then had my thyroid removed in 2001. I had a slow metabolism before those things happened but now feel like my body is responding to everything at a snail痴 pace. One reason I get so discouraged and end up giving up is because I already feel like I知 doing what I should be doing and it isn稚 working! I never felt like overeating was a problem for me and started tracking my food on other sites ( and WebMD) and it confirmed what I already knew, I generally was only eating between 800 1100 calories a day. Since retiring I have been walking pretty much every day and try to go at least 2 miles a day unless we池e on vacation or the weather is really bad. When I asked my primary care doctor for help I could tell he didn稚 believe me. On the next visit I brought a month痴 worth of print-out痴 showing my calorie intake and brought my husband with me to verify that I wasn稚 田heating. All the doctor said was that if I really was doing what I told him I was doing I would be losing weight AGAIN he didn稚 believe me! Last month I went for my annual OB/GYN visit and talked to that doctor about my weight loss issues. She told me that with my family history, my early menopause and my missing thyroid I may not be able to ever lose much weight and as long as I was exercising regularly and my blood pressure and general health remained good not to worry so much about it. She said I shouldn稚 eat less than 1200 calories a day though so I致e tried to adjust my intake and since then I致e gained 3 pounds! That痴 going the wrong direction! I knew from past experience that would happen, that痴 why I was trying to stay around 1000 calories in the first place. To say I知 frustrated would be an understatement! I marked 菟ublic for my nutrition and fitness journal if anyone wants to make suggestions, I知 certainly open to them. Any suggestions of ways to speed up my metabolism would be greatly appreciated also.
