Actually I had a good day well better. Breakfast was toast and jelly, tea lunch was mostly vaggies steamed,a few noodles about 200 calories and veggie salad, 1 juice bar 16 cal and evening was steamed veggie, 1/2 c beans. and a big salad more veggies. Some topping with soy nuts 35 cal and light dressing. a cookie at the tea this afternoon. Parked my car so I got a 15+ min walk this a.m.

Now tomorrow at soup and sandwich potluck I am going to try a little of each. A lady,Ev, who also is serious about losing weight said she was bringing a jello salad that can pass for dessert so if I can get some of that Ill have it made.

I'll have to stop up town and get some soup depending on what I find. Ev thinks a lemon cake is good but I don't want to take left over cake home. Maybe a half one and something else depending on what I find. Well now I am rambling. I am going to look into the DVD links.

Hi Buzz,

I agree, most chair programs and programs for seniors go too fast, done by personal trainers that don't work with seniors or special populations on a regular basis.

Parties can be tough... try to just have a small taste of everything. That way you won't have a full plate of food, then have a friend come up to you and say, "Did you try the dumplings?"

Good luck. Stay focused. Reinforce in yourself why you CAN do it, not why you cannot.

In good health,
Anne Bunrell

Thanks to all for your replys. I like the idea of walking but when the heat gets turned up here in TX you don't want to walk. I also run into other problems. I do go to the mall sometimes. I know I have to watch my food in take. One of the problems is the actiities which involve too much food with calories galore. That of course is the social part of life around here. So far I been lucky to hold my weight where it is now but I want to l lose. Anne I agree most of the DVDs are too fast. So I will look into the internet links sugested. Thanks again.

Whatever motivates you to do it, as long as it is safe and effective.

Try to look at previews first- many DVDs are paced too fast for beginners.

Thanks,
Anne

Hi there BUZZZ1 ... I am over 78 now, as last Sunday was my B'day. Do not really know what is you problem, but I will tell you what I do to loose weight.
I walk every day for 30 mins (2.25Klms)
Food: My wife and I hardly ever go over 1050 Calories daily. We have been consuming this Cal Count for 10 weeks now and both of us lost just over 8Kgs (17 pounds). I do not do anything the rest of the day, just sitting and playing on the computer.
I do help a bit by Cooking Breakfast, washing the dishes and at times drying them too. Mow the Lawn not even once a week. Correction... my wife walks 45mins to 6o mins daily. We walk at separate times, she in the morning and I late afternoon.
Food recipes I have close to 100 all from the Internet and have a good variety.
My original weight was 85Kgs about to become Obese now I weigh just under 77Kgs. (12Kgs to go end July))
Now you take it from here.
Hugs and hope I was of some help. Len

Here is one of my weekly Record
Aiming less than 1050 Calories Daily... 7 Weeks nearly 7 Kgs gone
Starting weight--- 78.5Kgs

Wed-31/03/10--- 980
Thu--01/04/10---998

I need something for the senior over 70. My balance isn't good. To start with I need an exercise rather slow. I can not keep up with most of these exercises and get discouraged fast. Anybody recommend anything?
