I have not done a sugar detox specifically but I have followed the 17 Day Diet which attempts to eliminate sugar from the diet with good success. In fact, back on it again tomorrow.

Happy New Year Everyone

Has anyone ever tried a "sugar detox" my body is a mess after eating too much junk over the holidays.

Sandy sorry that things didn't go so well for you at Christmas. Do pray that DS won't rush into anything. Glad you did get to spend a little one on one time with him.

We had a quiet holiday - dinner at the Clubhouse. This week we met up with friends on Wed and went out for the day. Had a nice time bumming with them-we did a few thrift stores and ate lunch out.

We had an issue with our water softener so had to get it serviced-did that on Thur. Not happy with the cost but no sense in having it if it isn't working! I ordered us new home phones on Tues and they went on sale on Wed! I will get them to adjust the invoice or take them back and repurchase them! $20 is worth the hassle.

This week was not a good week to get anything accomplished. We got a bill from the hospital and I tried to resolve it but only got their recording and no one returned my call. DH's bi-pap machine decided to act up and no one was there either. My list of things to do next week is growing fast.

Well, we meet our son's new girlfriend. We spent one day with our son. His new girlfriend had everyday planned for him to spend with her and her family. He was suppose to be with us on Christmas Eve but, when we were getting ready to leave to go to her family's Christmas party. Our son announces that he was going with her and her Mom and Brother up to the cabin after the party. I asked what happen to spending it with us. He said well Rachel want me to go with them. . Then he was just to come back on Christmas day early. But, it started snowing and he didn't come home till 8pm and I had to be to work at 7am in the morning. So, basically there was no Christmas. Oh, his girlfriend ended up coming back with him after he told us she was not. So, Christmas ended up being a big boom. I got 1 day with our son. After we brought him all the way up here to spend time with him. His father said something to him the day he was leaving and let him know how disappoint I was. He said we should of said something. DH said when -- the two of you were glued together and we never got a chance to. And when we did it was too late. I gave him the Mother's talk which was it is all nice to be in the "LALA" stage but, that is going to wear off. This control thing and wanting to be attach at the hip is going to get old really fast. HE stopped and looked at me and realized what I was saying. He didn't say much after that but, said he was sorry. I think he got what I was talking about. She is sweet but very needy. My son says she has had a hard time with relationships. I explained to my son that I can see why. As I was like her when I was much younger than her. That chain needs to be released or she will never keep a guy. I told him I loved him very much and that I know he will make good choices.

My whole issue is she is moving really fast. They have only been together since Sept/Oct. And she is talking babies and marriage and where they are going to live. I have told my son are you ready for this. My poor son said "No" I want to get my degree and have a good job before then. He said maybe in 2 yrs. or so. My son is 30 but, not a true 30. He is about 25 yrs old. He is a good kid but, his he was baby most of his life so he is a little immature for his age. I am glad for the time I did spend with him. His girlfriend is nice. Love her Mom and brother. I don't regret the little time I did spend with our son just wished we got to spend a little more than we did.

Hope that the New Year will be the start of a better year!

Val hope you get to feeling better. Enjoy Christmas with your parents and happy to hear you are having nice weather. It has been in the 80's the past week in FL but we are to get a brief cool down tomorrow and may only hit 68-70. Guess we can deal with that!!

We will spend Christmas with others in our community at the dinner sponsored by our social club. Our friends who live about 20 mi from us will join us for the meal. They come down from NY for 6 mo every year.

Merry Christmas everyone

Hi everyone. I'm in the Tucson area right now spending a week with my parents for Christmas. It's beautiful here and unseasonably warm, definitely a nice time to be visiting. I'm having a really nice time, but yesterday I started having a constant hacking cough. I feel fine, just have this horrible cough. It's really not anything like what I've gotten with my asthma anytime before, but this morning I used my albuterol inhaler and it did help me a bit. Very, very strange. Anyway, I'm having a really nice time with my parents and I'll be flying home on Tuesday. I hope that you all have a really nice Christmas surrounded by all of the people you love the most.

Sandy enjoy your time with your son. I can't begin to imagine the nightmare of the wreck out your way. Such a tragedy. Just viewing it on tv is bad enough. Those poor people. What are people thinking anymore when they do these jobs.

I have been busy this week-Kevin has gotten the laminate installed in the spare bedroom and hung the new shelf over the toilet in our bathroom. He should finish up the molding in the hallway & kitchen today. It was raining this morning so we went to get a permit for his next job. He should be here soon to finish up.

We are unusually warm this week-in the 80's. Will hit about 70 on Christmas day.

We are going to get a Nubulizer for DH Asthma. It seem to help him a lot. Well, tomorrow our son comes home at 12amIt is suppose to start to snowing then too. I just don't want it to stick till we get home.

The train derailment has been not only heart breaking but, has been really hard to get around. I just can not understand how he was going 80 mph in a 35 mph zone. People have become so distracted these days.

Wishing everyone a Wonderful Christmas weekend! emoticon

Sandy glad you are getting your DH to start taking the necessary steps to help him stay well or at least improve his health. Even under the best of circumstances, men are not great about taking care of themselves.
Your ornaments sound lovely. I used to like to make or give ornaments to my clerks. If I didn't have time to make them, I would try to find something special that would relate to them. One of my favorites was making them out of large bells and gluing a little mouse on it and then decorating it with some ribbon and a bit of greenery-everyone loved that one.

I think I am pretty much done with getting ready for Christmas. However, the guy who is going to do our bedroom floor wants to start on Tues so my house is going to be in turmoil for several days and I have to remove everything in there tomorrow! The only thing not coming out will be the Murphy cabinet bed-it is just too heavy so he will have to move it around while working on the flooring. He is also going to put new molding in our kitchen and hallway-some areas have none-not sure why so now it will all be covered and match!!!

Vali - That is what DH had. He had never been diagnosed with asthma. DH told today that his Mom was really bad about taking them to the doctors. He was fine when we lived in California but, now that we live here DH has been sick a lot . It was the other way around when for me.

DH spent about 40mins on the nebulizer machine. I have got him talked into getting a flu & pneumonia shot. He is horrible when it comes to going to the doctor. Which goes back to this upbringing. I explained to DH the only way for you to get well is to get on a good health route to keep his Asthma under control along with his panic attacks. The two together are not good. Little by little I am finding things out about his upbringing and it is not all good. None of them really talk to each other and they are all Alcoholic or have some kind of addiction. I am just happy that DH finally woke up and stopped his. It was the fact that he really realized that he was going to loose me that scared him the most.

Pat - I am so sorry to hear about your Son and his family. I will keep them in my prayers. They must be totally crazy to allow him to go back to work at all.

I just finished making Christmas Ornaments for my Co-workers. I use to do it a lot in College to make some extra money. They are fun to make. I find out about the person their hobbies and what they like and then I design the Ornament around that. I love the look on the person face when come to pick it up. It make me feel good. For one of my co-workers I made an ornament with hearts and saying Mr & Mrs. They just got married in Nov. I have another Co-worker that loves Florida. So, I did hers with Palm trees, waves, sun Flops Flip. I always sign the bottom of them.

Hard to believe that Christmas is upon us and we are about to bring in a New Year. Were has this year gone. My son arrives at Midnight Thursday night. Hope that everyone has had a great weekend. emoticon

Please keep my son & his family in your prayers. Workmen's Comp is not stepping up to the plate and now the dr is wanting to send him back to light duty and his company doesn't offer any. Today the PA upgraded his spleen injury from a 3 to a 4 and at 5 it has to be surgically removed!! His leg is still painfully swelling if he is on it for more than a short time. Just to get to work he has to drive an hour just to get to work. Even that isn't safe with his spleen injury which takes 12-14 weeks to heal! Are they totally off their rocker??? Like I said, please keep them in your prayers that all will get resolved and he will get the needed time to heal so he can return to work.

A number of years ago I ended up in the ER with a severe case of asthmatic bronchitis. Wonder if Sandy's DH has something like that.

I've been having a lot of trouble with my left knee this week. I injured it about 25 years ago and it has never been the same. I got shots in that knee for a while but I had to stop when my insurance changed. It may be time to start getting them again because right now I have a hard time walking sometimes, even with my cane.

Other than that, nothing much going on in my neck of the woods. I'm going to go visit my parents for Christmas, and then after Christmas I'm going to figure out whether or not I'm going back to school in the summer. I've missed the deadline to apply for the semester that starts in January so I'll have to wait till June if I decide I'm going to do it. Decisions, decisions...sometimes I really miss having my parents make all of the big decisions for me...

I hope you all have a really great weekend...and that you're able to stay warm...

There was much rejoicing!

Sandy, did he suddenly develop asthma or is it bronchial asthma related to a cold or virus. Glad you were able to get him in to see the dr and get a breathing treatment. Hope he continues to improve.

I went for my eye exam today-dr checks me every 6 mo due to my macular degeneration. Not good news, I thought my vision problems were due to my cataracts getting worse but he says no.

Well, poor DH is sick. I got him an appointment with a doctor today to be seen since he was up all night not being able to breath. He has been diagnosed with server Asthma. He spoke to a nurse, the same nurse I spoke to, she told him to go to the ER base on the lack of sleep and that he was having a hard time breathing plus family history of heart problems. I told him that you have not been diagnosed with a heart problem and she is called the "Gate Keeper" . She is there to keep the sick from coming in. So, this is the second time she has miss diagnosed. When I had my hemorrhoid she told me I was going to die from cancer if I didn't go to the ER right then. Well, I didn't have cancer I Hemorrhoids. So, I pitched a fit and got DH in today. I spoke to the right person. He had a breathing treatment and is on Meds and is starting to feel a little better.

Hoping that everyone is staying warm and well. Have a great rest of your week! emoticon

Sandy, good for you for being ready for the holidays and for DH for getting help cleaning. Always a nice bonus to not have to do all the cleaning. H ope you have a wonderful time with your son & his girlfriend.

It is such a tragic time-praying for all of those in California.

We pulled things off for our friends 80th birthday party and glad that is over with. I logged nearly 16K in steps yesterday and most were in preparation for the party!! Went back this morning and finished with the cleanup.

I only have a couple more things have I have to do to get ready. Then I am done. Son arrives in 12 days. DH is getting a cleaning lady in to do a good cleaning before the kids come.

Please say a prayer for those in California. Good friend of ours has lost there ranch in Bonsil just outside of San Diego. It is so sad to what is happening. Especially at this time of year.

Going to my first really Company party tonight. DH got his hair cut and tried on all his clothes that I got him. He didn't have a pair of black pants and his white shirt --- Well, it really wasn't white and the sleeves were a little short. I got him a really nice sport jacket. All at Kohl's all at 30% plus my discount plus Kohl's cash that I had earned from another time. DH paid me later. But, was happy it didn't cost as much as if he bought it.

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend. emoticon

Sandy so happy you have found a job that you love and that appreciates your talents. That makes it a pleasure to go to work. I feel so sad for people who are stuck in jobs they hate.

I got my walk in early and then had a meeting to attend and after that, Vickie & I did more shopping for the birthday party for our friend. Hopefully we are going to get this all pulled together-large parties are not my thing!!

Vali - Good to hear from you. I am a Admin. Assist for a Janitorial Supply Company. I am in charge of Portland area. Plus they just add on 2 guys here in Washington. That is not including answering the phones and greeting customers. They like me handling the customers. They have told me that the customers really like me and want me to be the first on the phones. It is kind of my thing. At each place I have ever worked I have been put in charge of the phones and customers. When I worked in a Doctors office the Doctor told me I was the Fluff of the office. She explained that I always had a way with the handle the troubles that would come up and take care of them. So, when the patient would come in they would be all happy and there would be no problem. She found that out for real after I left when she had 5 patients in a row come in and complain about her nurse & reception. When she ask them they all said Sandy always handled it for us.Well, This place I work at now really appreciates their hard working employees a lot. It is great to be appreciate.

You sound like you have a great plan. No matter where you end up you are going to do great things. You are a wonderful person with a Big heart. Happy you get to spend time with you Mom and Dad. Bet they are look forward to seeing you for Christmas.

Have a great week everyone! emoticon

Val nice to hear from you. Sounds like your life is still in limbo, so to speak. Glad you were able to find a computer that you are happy with. I have had a laptop for nearly 20 years. Went to that when we moved into our rv and never looked back. My biggest issue is my eyesight-I need the 17" to really feel comfortable reading on it. I know you don't really like the heat but might not be all bad living closer to your parents. As you said, decisions, decisions!!

I am working on things at home-got my little tree up yesterday so that is off the to-do list but now need to move on to Christmas cards and purchasing the gift cards for the kids and grandkids and get them mailed next week. I hate to wait till the last minute.

I am enjoying our last day of really great weather by Thur our high is to be down about 60 instead of 80.

Sandy, I'm really happy to hear that your like your new job so much better than the old one at Kohl's. I've been having all kinds of computer problems so I haven't been on much recently and I have no idea where your new job is. What are you doing now? I hope that you keep on enjoying it because I know that Kohl's wasn't treating you very well and you weren't enjoying that job at all. It's nice to have a good job from time to time. emoticon

My old computer started dying a few weeks ago and I finally got a new one yesterday. It actually took me about 4 days because I had to take back two computers that we thought weren't working before we discovered yesterday that plugging and unplugging my monitor over and over again had finally just killed it. emoticon So I got a Lenovo all-in-one that has one piece that's both a monitor and a hard drive. So far I just love it...hopefully this one will last for a while...

The other news from my neck of the woods is that I'm going to spend a week visiting my parents in Tucson around Christmas. Then after the first of the year I'm either going to go back to school to finish my bachelor's degree or find a job in Tucson. Decisions, decisions...

I hope that the new week is starting out well for everyone. Just 3 weeks until Christmas... emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

Pat - I have a little 4' tree. I use to have a 7' one but it was such a pain to put up all the time. I just love my little tree. I set it on top of my table.

Things at work today were super busy. We have a Trade show that been going on since the end of last week and is still going. So, that has keep us really busy in the office. Make the day go by fast. And I am really tire when I get home. I have so much still to do before the kids come and before the party. I know i will be able to get it all done.

Wishing you all a great week. emoticon

I got my poor little mishappen tree decorated today and it doesn't look too bad. Picked it up at a thrift store. Hard to find a small one anymore.

Sandy sounds like you are ready for the party and will be looking great. Great planning. Happy to hear your son and his GF will spend some holiday time with you. Always nice when family can be with you. Is your son still living back in the East?

We have been having beautiful weather but it is supposed to end mid week-not looking forward to some 40's.

Thank you! I feel so much better. I got to talk to my son this weekend and it was such a pleasure to talk with him. He has turned into a really great guy and very respectful. He called me to check to see if it would be OK for him to have a glass a wine with dinner or have a beer when he comes to visit. As he knows his is not drinking and want him to stay that way. I told him it has been 2 years now and he has not had a drink nor has he wanted one. I feel for my son right now he is trying to please his girlfriend and us. His New girlfriend's family lives her too sooo they want time with them too. But, she is coming in on the 21st of Dec to the 28th. Our son is coming in on the 21st but he leaves on the 26th. The run is that her family has a cabin in Skykomish so they are going there for Christmas eve to Christmas day. They we will come up Christmas Day weather permitting and met her family. But, they will be here with us til Christmas eve. I have to work the day after Christmas but, DH took it off. I just can't e are just too busy right now.

We have our end of year party next weekend. It is Business casual and Black and White theme. I got DH a New White dress shirt & Black Docker from Kohl's before I left. It was on sale plus 30% plus Kohl's cash plus my employee discount. I ended up paying for both $35.00. I have two Black dress I am trying to decide on (depend on which on I can fit into) I am really hoping for the short sleeve one as it is the one I meet DH in. But the other one I know it will fit as it is a sweater dress and the sleeves come down to my elbows. I got black tights to wear with both. A nice set of peals with marcasite in between. I have 2 pair of earring that will look good with them. But, have been keeping my eye out if I come across something. I have a really nice jacket that will look good too. The shoes will be a a quarter inch heel. So not to high. Just wish I had had time to go get my hair cut. I was going to this eek end but got busy doing stuff around the house with decoration and then cleaning and picking up the house. That I just lost track of time. During the week is just too hard.

It really is not that big of a deal. I will still look nice and have fun. As for my son I am making it as easy as possible for . I am encouraging him to spend the time with her and her family and we will see him when he gets done and we will celebrate then. We told him that we will try to make it but if it is snowing we will not me able to. Or if calls for chains or traction tires we won't be able to. He said he under stood. I want to make this easy on him. She is really sweet But, she wants him to go every where. This there first holiday together and I think she is really nervous . She wants both families to get to know each other. She is all ready to settle down. My son --- Well, I am not sure about that. He is like his Mom. Wants to be sure & they only been together for about 6 months now. They just moved in together this past month. I told him give it a year and see what happens.

Pat -- I am so very glad that your son is on the road to recovery. That is the best Christmas present anyone could every ask for. And then your DH doing better because Dr. Pat figured out maybe by adjusting his meds. That is wonderful.

I hope that everyone has a get week! emoticon

Sandy I would say whatever changes you have made are all for the good. I feel the happiness in your post. Wonderful.

I have changed up DH's meds and he seems to be doing better. Got all his dr's onboard with this. They weren't solving anything so decided I needed to play dr myself. He was tired of going to the hospital every 5-8 weeks.

My son is improving so praying he will make a complete recovery, it just isn't going to be fast. Not sure if it made your news in your area. The road washed out from under his work truck and he went down 150 ft into a river and had to be airlifted to Vancouver to a trauma center. That was on Nov. 1. His story made the Lars Larson show. I understand that is a local show out your way.

Love my New job a lot. We are growing leaps and bounds. So, looking to get a larger office but we haven't heard anything as yet. Have heard that it might be close to home and I would really be happy about that. Sold the business back in April for nothing. Just gave that away. But, glad I did. I have gotten a rise already after being there for 6 months. I had to wait a year at Kohl's and got a 2% rise there. After 6moth with my New job I got $1.00 rise plus another at a Year.

I have gotten my house all decorated and the tree up. Just have to clean the rest of the house and get the guest room ready for my son and his girlfriend. She seems really nice. We have not meet her yet but, e have talked with her a couple of time.

Now , I just need to start the baking and I will be all done. emoticon

hope everyone is having a great weekend. emoticon

Sandy glad you have gotten some relief and hopefully you won't need more shots. How is the new job going? Are you still thinking of downsizing or just going to stay put?

I got a little decorating done at home-just can't get inspired. We are in the 80's so doesn't seem very Christmasy! We are to cool off mid week so maybe then I can get inspired. I needed a bit of a rest after this past week. I got my gifts for Toys for Tots today and then went to the grocery store.

It is hard to believe it is December! I am so thankful for my health and finding out that what I thought was wrong with me was not. It end up being a simple fix. My Chronic Hives have turned into a whisper. I may not have to take the shot any more. My weight may not be where I want it to be right now but, it is getting there. The road has not been easy but, it has been one that I wouldn't of changed at all. I have learned a lot and I have come a long way. I am also thankful for my many friends on SP.

Wishing all of you a very wonderful weekend! emoticon
