Fall has finally arrived in FL We woke up to 53 this morning and supposed to be 47 tomorrow morning. This is quite a drastic change as we were 81 yesterday.
I got my new Fitbit and got it programmed yesterday evening so today is the 1st chance to wear it and didn't get a lot of walking in as today was church and then had to do some paperwork so will give it a workout tomorrow.

Ready for cooler weather-we are staying in 80's this week but looking at some 70's next week!
I did some yardwork this morning while waiting for Abbie to get "prettied" up at the groomer. I am slowly ridding myself of some of my potted plants. They are getting old and instead of replacing them, I am going to simplify my life. Replacing plants with "yard pretties" that won't need a lot of care. I make a lot of different yard ornaments so that will be my "plant" of choice going forward.

I saw my doctor and got the sutures out. I have been doing better. I did work at Kohl's last weekend. Boy, was I tired after I got off. I came home after doing some running around and getting a bite to eat and fell asleep for 3 hours.

Pat - How you feel better soon.

Vali - Hope you get the job.

Hope everyone has a great week.

We are so blessed to live where we do. Last night a friend gave us beef stew for our supper and had enough left for lunch today and tonight another friend delivered homemade chicken noodle soup to us and I think it has helped already to open up my nose. What a blessing to not have to worry about cooking!

We cooled down enough overnight so that I was able to open our windows and turn off the a/c. I am hoping this lasts for awhile. We need a break from the heat.

Colds are just miserable. You're not sick enough to be able to get out of anything or stay in bed all day, but you sometimes you want to do just that because you just don't feel right. We all get 3 or 4 of them every year and they can knock you down and leave you feeling really puny even though you're never really super sick. I really hope that this one resolves itself and passes on pretty soon.

At the moment there's really only one more full time job I can apply for in the Albuquerque area. It's the one that would involve commuting for over an hour, but I've done that before and I would survive it again. I'm waiting until Friday to apply for it. I have to apply for 2 jobs each week in order to get my unemployment benefits and I've already applied for one this week. I'm going to wait until Friday to see if they post any new jobs that would be better (read "here in town") and then apply for the job with the commute. I have a feeling I'll at least get an interview for that job just because people don't usually want to have to commute as their first choice of jobs. Then next week I'll have to start applying for the part time jobs...guess I'll just see how things go...

The weather here has been pretty nice recently. It has cooled down from the summer heat and sitting out on my little patio is pretty nice right now. I'm hoping that we don't have a really cold winter on the way...I hope things are going really well for all of you and that the coming winter treats you well. (Man alive, I must really be worried about winter to be thinking about it already...)

There was much rejoicing!

Val sure hoping that something changes soon for you and you can get a job without having to move.

I am no better today-in fact now my eyes are constantly watering. I guess I am just going to have to tough it out. I always say it takes 7 days to really "get" a cold, then 7 days of feeling miserable and 7 more days to finally knock it out completely. I guess I was already getting it while we were on our trip so I am experiencing the middle 7 now so hopefully by the weekend I will be starting to feel better again. I have so much I need to do but it is just going to have to wait till I feel better.

So sorry that you're stuck with a cold, they can really be a pain in the fanny...

Not much going on in my neck of the woods. Still looking for a job. I've had a couple of interviews but didn't get either job. There are a few more full time positions here in town that I can apply for and then I'll have to apply for a job that's about an hour and a half away or some part time jobs here in town. Sometimes I'm a very patient person, but this company is really taking a long time to interview people and fill their positions...

I hope that the new week is starting out really well for the rest of you.

There was much rejoicing!

Enjoyed 9 great days away from home. I certainly needed the break from routine after the summer we had. I got to go white water rafting - it had been over 25 years since I last did it so I was a little worried but I did fine. We did lots of hiking to see waterfalls and the countryside. Best part was I did not have to drive!!

Worst part is I have come down with a head cold since we returned home. Oh well, small price to pay for the time away.

We got up fairly early so we could get breakfast at Cracker Barrel. We were on our way by 8:30. Went to Tallulah Falls. Nearly killed us but we did it. 1003 steps My phone said it was equal to 17 flights of stairs. When we left ther we went to Black Rock State Park & Vickie & I hiked to another falls. Big disappointment. It was just a trickle.
Had to stop for lunch after all of that. At at The Rusty Biker Grille. Good food. We like to avoid the chain restaurants if we can
We visited the highest peak in Ga after that I think it is Brass Vald Mtn or something like that. Almost 4500 ft. You ride a bus or can hike to top. We rode!!
Our rafting may be cancelled due to Nate. Our timing is impeccable

Vali - Good luck. Vali my Mom and grandma use to say to me for every door that closes another better door will open. So, basically if this is the right job it will all work out. If not there is a better one right around the corner that is even better. You got this!

Pat - So glad to hear that you only had $ 150 worth of damages. To what we were seeing it looked really bad. I was afraid you were coming home to a lot worse. Happy it wasn't that.

Nana - How are you?

My week went well till Wed. when I became constipated. I went to work on Friday and was not feeling good at all. I came home early. Which was good as I no more got home and everything started working. Then felt much better. I was to work at Kohl's today but, called out yesterday just in case. They were really understanding. They also had be working on my Birthday. i am not doing anything today for my birthday but, DH ad I are going to dinner tomorrow. Just want to take it easy today.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. emoticon

My interview went really well and I'm really hoping that I get this job. It's a job working in the blood bank at the only level 1 trauma center in the state and I know it's a job that I would really love. The supervisor and I were definitely speaking the same language and I got the feeling that she liked everything I had to say. We talked in the special language that all good blood bankers share, we talked about teamwork, we even talked about the horrible shooting in Las Vegas and how glad we both are that we weren't working in the blood bank at Nevada's only level 1 trauma center this weekend. emoticon So anyway, I have a really good feeling about how the interview went and I really, really hope that she decides to offer me this job. It would mean getting to work at 6:00 in the morning emoticon but I could learn to do that again, especially for a job that I loved.

There was much rejoicing!

Sandy, I'm so happy that all of your friends were safe after the concert. Hard to believe this awful stuff keeps happening. emoticon

So I've got another job interview tomorrow afternoon. Same basic job as the other one I interviewed for, but at a different hospital. The woman I spoke with this afternoon sounded like she's pretty desperate to fill her position, so maybe this one will work out and I'll get the job. I don't even know exactly what the job is, don't have any idea what the hours would be, just that it's a job in the blood bank at University Hospital. I've worked there before and would probably really enjoy working there again. So fingers crossed...

Not too much else to say at the moment. I'm going to eat dinner and then try to get to bed at a decent hour so I can get up and be on time for my interview tomorrow. Everyone have a really great Thursday. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

Sandy we fared pretty well. We had some roof damage on our carport. We had to have 2 of the panels replaced but that is already done and it was under $150 so we feel pretty lucky. Our community had a few mobiles that had more damage but nothing that can't be repaired. Most of them have already been repaired. The worst damage was one carport was totally torn off.

I have worked 3 days last week and 3 this week but tomorrow I am finally off on vacation for 7-10 days! I need it. This has been a rough summer with Bill in the hospital 5 times and having to work in the office several times. This last time was really not good timing. I left work at noon today so I could pick up a pr of pants I had altered for Bill from the cleaners, needed a haircut, had to stop by Bath & Body and then finally got our packing done!! I think I have it pretty much done. Now wish us luck to fit what 4 people need in a PRIUS!!

Thank you everyone. I final heard from 3 of the 4 really late last night. The other one I found out stayed with 2 other friends that I didn't know that went. All checked in except one early this morning and afternoon. The last one they found at the hospital. She was not shoot just injured from being knocked down. They all got separated when they started running. The one that went to the hospital was saved by one of the security guards there. he pulled her out of the line of fire and away from people running. They are all OK with what they have been though.

Pat - I been meaning to ask you. How are you doing since the Hurricane? Did your place hold up OK? I saw some of the pictures. I was pretty worried.

Nana - Thank you!

Wishing everyone a safe and wonderful week!

Sandy do hope your friends are ok. Our GD & her DH live there as he is stationed at the AFB in Vegas and so thankful they were not at the concert. Such terrible things happening way too often. Makes a person scared to go to any big venues anymore.

I have been working again this week but going to only work 1/2 day tomorrow so I can get a haircut and pack for our trip as we leave Thur. morning!!

I am back at work again this week and it is throwing a monkey wrench in my plans. I am not the most happy camper as the office manager is taking advantage of the fact I can fill in. Yes, she lost her grandmother but she will be off over a week which is more excessive leave than I ever got when I worked. I am not sure she will be long in this job if she doesn't start showing more initiative and considering she has only been employed for 6 months she has really pushed the envelope in asking for time off and wanting off early!!

OK off my soap box. I am leaving on vacation on Thur and had my time planned to get ready for the trip and now I am really having a time getting everything done and covering the office. I had to take off for 3 hours today to take DH to a dr's appointment and I had changed my podiatrist appointment from last Thur. to today so I kept it today. Tomorrow I have a dear friend from Canada who is only going to be here a few days coming for a short visit. I am taking a long lunch hour for that.. I still need a haircut as I wanted to do that just before we left. Guess another long lunch hour on Wed!!

Pat, there are always new jobs popping up on the web site of the only company in town that hires people who do what I do, so I'm hoping that sooner or later I'll get some more interviews and someone will hire me. At the moment I've got 7 or 8 applications in and they all say that they are being considered. emoticon If I don't get another interview or two over the next week or two then I'll have to start applying for jobs in other states, which won't make me happy. I finally decided that I really want to stay here...but I think I may have decided too late...

I can't believe it's October already. emoticon emoticon The year seems to be flying by. I love the fall weather. We had rain for most of the day yesterday, which is always a real treat around here. Pretty soon I'll be crying that it's too cold instead of too hot. I hope that everything is going really well for everyone. I'll check back in and let you all know if anything ever happens in my life...

There was much rejoicing!

Val hoping you find a job soon. Do you think you might have to move to get a job or that something will materialize?

I had a full week already planned but now it is even more complicated. I cover for the office manager and she took off last week (we thought for her grandma's funeral) but now she has text that funeral isn't till Tues and she won't be back till Thur. I worked Wed-Fri last week and now will cover Mon-Wed and we leave on vacation on Thur!! I am going to be one busy lady.

Found a set of mugs that can't be put in the microwave. Set them aside. They're pretty. I'll keep one. They were a Christmas present from my departed husband.

My mom and I go through my stuff together every six months or so. We try to get rid of as much as we can and then organize what's left. Unfortunately I've got so darn much stuff that it's going to take a long time to really get to a reasonable amount of stuff around my place...

My biggest goal for the new month is still to find a job. I've been applying for all of the full time jobs with the only company in town that hires people who do what I do and so far I've had one job interview. Not sure if anything will come from it, so I'm hoping for a few more interviews...

Aside from that, I need to get back to doing more cooking at home and maybe cut back on the amount of coffee I've been drinking recently. I hope that the new month starts out really well for all of us. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

Way to go Talamar-I try to go thru my house room by room annually and clean out things we aren't using. I hate clutter too!

I am clearing out the stuff in my house that was left behind by people who have moved out.

After that I going to go through my stuff.

I have never liked my life cluttered with stuff. I get overwhelmed and feel crowded out of my living space. I need my space.

My family use to get upset because I would go through the house and give away anything that was no longer being used. I never touched their favorites. Everyone needs a few luxuries.

My luxuries are books, dvds, and music.

Two weeks ago I gave away the DVDs that I knew I was never going to watch again.

Next, I'm going to sort through my books. Even luxuries need to be cleared out now and then.

Sandy hope you feel better soon. Sure does sound like you have the flu. I got my flu shot and hopefully can avoid it this winter or at least have a mild case!!

We are planning on a min-vacation mid-week. Haven't been able to do much all summer with DH in and out of the hospital so praying he is going to stay healthy,

Tried to go back to work on Thursday but, was not able to as my stomach was not feeling well. We go back on Monday. I think I had a touch of the flu as I could not leave the toilet for some time and once I did I sleep the whole day. I also had the chills and sweated a lot. I feel better not. But , I am taking it easy.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.
