Sandy hope you get into the dr and get some relief soon. Glad you and DH are getting along so well and he is maintaining his sobriety.

Val glad to hear you will get that 2nd letter and hopefully you can find something soon. If going back to school is something you want to do, it would be good to look into but don't do it if it isn't. I went back to get my degree in my 30's and worked full time and it was a struggle to do it all, of course I had 2 sons at home and a DH that was in and out of the hospital so I had plenty of challenges besides the homework.

I took Bill to the cardiologist today and he said considering everything he is doing good. He wants to see him again in 3 mo. He is concerned that he can't take the blood thinners and is only on a 325 mg aspirin but can't chance the thinner with all the bleeds he has experienced.

Sandy, I hope that you hear from your son soon. I know that my mom gets really worried when she doesn't at least get an email from me for a week. I'm really happy to hear that your DH is maintaining his sobriety.

I was able to get in touch with the person I was hoping would write me my second reference letter and she's going to write it for me. We had a good talk and she's almost got me convinced to look into scholarships for helping women over 50 with college tuition. I might consider working on my bachelor's degree if I can do most of the work online...we'll see...

I don't know how many of you guys live in or near Texas. I hope that everyone has been able to stay safe from the hurricane. Everyone be careful and stay safe.

There was much rejoicing!

Pat I'll trade you your rain for the 88 degree weather we are having. The smoke is back due to all the fires. They just about have the fires under control in Canada. But, DH says lumber will be hard to come by and it will go up in Price. looking forward to seeing the Dr. this week. This whole thing is getting old really quick.Feel like I have to wear a diaper every day as I just don't know what will happen.

Val - I am so happy for you. I hope the person writes the letter for you and find a good job soon. Glad you got to spend time with your Mom.

Didn't have to work at Kohl's this weekend so I just relaxed. DH and I run around and did a few things even went out and got Breakfast for the first time. We had a lot of fun. He is not 2yrs sober last week. It has now been 3 months since we last heard from our Son though i have text him and told him that this is not like him . I got a text back saying "Sorry love you and miss you guys. Chat soon." We thought we'd hear from him this weekend but no word. The rest of the family have called and texted him and have gotten nothing also. We are all a little upset with him but, also concerned.

Hope everyone has a great week! Say Prayers for Texas they really need it right now!

Happy for you Val, I do hope you get that 2nd letter and that soon you will find a job. Sounds like you and mom have had a good visit. It is great that she is able to come a couple of times a year and spend time with you.

We have had a nice slow rain this morning. We were in need of it so no complaints.

Today my mom and I went to dinner with a couple of my work friends and one of them was able to give me the phone number of someone who I'm hoping will write me the second reference letter I need. So I had a really nice time at dinner with my mom and my friends, and I got some good news. emoticon

Val I wish you luck in getting that 2nd letter. Do you have any other way of contacting your boss other than FB? If you, I think I would pursue that. Does the referral have to be from a supervisor? Could it be from someone you have worked with and knows your work ethic?

I think we almost have the budget whipped into shape. This is the 1st year that I have been the head of this. I have worked on it for a number of years, but the lady who was doing it decided her health made it impossible for her to continue. She is 80 so guess she earned her retirement.

We finally got our white water trip booked-has to be in Oct which is later than we wanted so hoping the weather is not too cold. Hoping I can keep Bill healthy and we can enjoy a week or so away.

My mom has been busier since my dad retired than she ever was before. She certainly hasn't been bored...

As far as the job hunt goes, it's kind of stalled right now. There's only one company in town that I can work for, and they want two letters of referral with my application. Well I've never gotten those before, though I do know people who ask each boss to write them one when they move on to a new job, and with all the bosses my hospital had gone through over the last 15 years I could certainly have gotten quite a few letters, but I never really thought I'd need one so I haven't gotten any...and now I need 2... emoticon One friend who has been my coworker, my supervisor and my manager is going to write a letter for me. And my most recent boss, who saw what was going to happen with the hospital labs here in town and went elsewhere, told me back in May or June that he would hire me if I wanted to move to Oregon, and also that he would write me a letter if I needed one when my severance was over. Well...I keep contacting him on Facebook and he keeps not responding. emoticon So I just need to figure out who else I can ask to write a letter of referral for me...

My mom is here this week. She comes every six months or so to help me in my ongoing efforts to organize all of my stuff and get rid of as much of it as I can. It's always nice to have Mom here, but she gets up early in the morning (which I never, ever do) and so I have to get up early to take advantage of her help. So I'm going to be seriously sleep deprived for the rest of the week, but I do always enjoy having my mom here. emoticon

I hope that the week is going well for all of you. I'll talk to all of you again soon.

There was much rejoicing!

The eclipse was pretty much a bust here-Mother Nature decided to rain about the time we were in the peak time for us so not sure if it was the eclipse or just the usual getting overcast during a rainstorm. It poured for about 30 min!

DH continues to do good-not liking the low fiber diet he is on at present but if it works, then we will follow it. I just have to get more fiber in my diet-I hate cooking 2 meals!!

Val how is the job hunt going??

Sandy sorry for your health issues but happy they know what is causing the issue. Good luck with the surgery and getting your schedule straightened out.

I have been busy still trying to catch up everything that got pushed to the side while DH was in the hospital. Making a dent in things but....not there jet. I also have been spending a lot of time working on our budget for 2018 for our community. Our meeting to get it all hammered out and finalized is the 6th of Sept so have to keep at it.

Well, Things have been a Little crazy around here. Went to the ER as I had rectal bleeding again which was from my Hemorrhoids again. But this time I had 2 burst which is why I was bleeding really heavy. So, now I have made an appt. with the colon Dr. to have a 2 for 1 done. I get a colonoscopy plus my hemorrhoids removed. I get to see the Dr. on Aug. 31.

I thought I had got things taken care of with Kohl's and my hours. But, they did it again. They had me on again this week for both Sat. & Sun. I put 2 changes in with both saying Sat. only 7am to 12pm. The girl still can't get it right. We will see what happens next. I also put in for time off for Thanksgiving , Christmas and New Years . I'll 3 to 4 day weekends then. It will be nice to have the time off.

Hope every one has a great week.

Val do hope that those folks will get back to you soon. I do hope you have enjoyed this nice paid vacation and that you will be able to find something before your severance runs out. I guess I am very thankful I no longer have to worry about a job.

I spent a good part of my day working on the budget for the park for 2018. We used to have 7 of us on the committee and now there are only 4 of us. I am the only one who understands all the accounts so I have to do the grunt work. Guess my temping in the office has advantages and disadvantages!!

We've been getting a lot of rain here this month. Mind you, "a lot of rain" where I live usually means that we've gotten half an inch in a month... emoticon

Pat, I guess orange juice is out for Bill, and probably tomato, too. But apple juice should be okay. Do you have a juicer? (I sure wish I did...) I would think that carrot juice wouldn't have a lot of acid but at the moment I can't think of other veggies that don't. Good luck figuring all of that out. emoticon

I realized recently that the end of my severance is coming up in just a few weeks, so guess what I've been working on. I've contacted a couple of people about writing me letters of referral but neither of them has gotten back to me yet. I'm sure that these two people will write them for me, just wish that we could all get on the stick and get it taken care of. I've actually asked 4 people for letters over the last month or so and I think that the other two may just never get back to me. Oh well. At least I've finally decided to get serious about taking care of that...

I hope that the rest of the week is really great for all of you. emoticon

Thanks for the tip Val. I do have him drinking some juice-just have to be careful of the acid.

I finally managed to get a haircut today-only 3 weeks later than I wanted! Every time I thought I would make it, Bill ended up in the hospital.

We got about 1/2 inch of rain from several showers today.

I hope that Bill is doing better today. Keep pushing the fluids, and maybe give him some juice part of the time if you keep having to work on hydrating him. Water is good, our bodies need water. But it has absolutely no nutritional value at all (unless you buy fancy "vitamin waters" which tend to have a lot of sugar in them) so you should probably have him drinking apple juice or orange juice or even grape juice or tomato juice part of the time. I hope he's feeling much better very soon. emoticon

Took Bill to his oncologist today and he was dehydrated-had a terrible time getting his blood drawn. I have been pushing water on him since we got home. He had lost 11 lbs since his last visit 3 mo ago.

I got up early to walk and think I need to get up even earlier tomorrow as it was already muggy out at 6:30 am!

There are programs that will block ads on your PC. AdAware is one that comes to mind but if you google "ad blockers" or "ad blocking software" I'm sure you'll find a bunch of them. They don't work all the time, but they do help and some of them (AdAware in particular) are free.

Not quite the month I had planned, Bill spent 2 days in the hospital the 3rd and 4th and back in on the 8th thru the 11th. This is getting old. They wait too long to run the test and by the time it is done, the bleeding has stopped so hopefully we have a plan in place now. Only time will tell. Truthfully I hope there is no more bleeding!! I have pretty much missed this month. Our grandson & family came to visit and Bill was sick then so they only stayed about 4 hours witth us. Felt bad as we only see them every couple of years but at least we did get to visit and took them to lunch even if Bill took 2 bites and that was all he ate!

Hi everyone How is the month going for you? I have lost 3 lbs but waiting to see if I really did our it was the stomach bug I caught while DH was in the hospital. He went back in this afternoon so hoping I don't catch anything else and that finally they can find out what is going on. This is his 3rd GI bleed since mid May.

I started the C25K plan yesterday and I will continue that because at exactly the 9 week mark, there's a 5km race on campus which I intend to run (jog!) in.

I am going to get another rescue dog from CA (her name is Cookie and she's a 3 year old black chihuahua cross). Chi Angeles gets them from the shelters and flies them up to Canada for our rescue. I have already got 2 from CA, but hey, you just can't have too many chihuahuas.

And I would really really like to continue to lose 2 pounds per week!

And I just bought several new outfits, mail order. I hope to fit into them at least by the end of the month!!
