We are getting the summer rains too. They are needed as we had fires earlier this spring since we had such a dry winter. I just hate the thunder and lightning that often goes with the rain. Several people have experienced lightning strikes and lost electrical items and that is possibly why our a/c quit. (electrical surge in our case)

We are looking forward to a visit from our grandson & his family next Tues. Rain is in the forecast so not sure if we will get to take them out on the lake.

Our weather continues to be very hot so can't do much outside as it still makes breathing difficult for me. Guess one does not just bounce back from pneumonia!

I can see why you'd be nervous about getting too far from home right now Pat. For me the problem is getting too far away from a bathroom that keeps me from getting out and doing things, and that makes me late for work a lot when I have a job. emoticon Oh well, lots of people have worse problems than I do, so I need to learn to just suck it up and deal with things...

I really don't have anything much to say at the moment. I spent 6 or 8 hours yesterday trying to get my stupid computer to work correctly again. I think I finally managed it, but I also think that within the next year or so I'll probably have to buy a new computer. I'm just putting it off because they're so darned expensive these days...

We've been getting a lot of rain over the last couple of weeks. Well, a lot for us, maybe not so much for everyone else. We've had 4 afternoons and/or evenings when we've had really hard rain storms, which I really love. Unfortunately they hardly ever last for more than half an hour, but at least we're finally getting some monsoon rains in this year's monsoon season. It's pretty hot, but thankfully it's really not humid here when it's not raining. Anyway, that's about all the "news" from here. Oh, and someone (maybe Barbara?) said something about how mini horses must be really cute, and they are definitely that. The one my brother and his wife have has quite a personality to go along with all of her cuteness. I really enjoyed seeing all of their horses while I was in Ohio.

I hope that you all have a really great weekend. I'll try to post in the group again sometime soon...

There was much rejoicing!

Good for you Sandi. Sometimes people don't appreciate when you are doing something to help them out.

We actually day a day trip today. First fun thing we have done since May when DH's health issues started. We went with our friends to and Air Museum about 2 hours from our home. The museum was a disappointment as some of the equipment was out and they were setting up for a special event but we made the most of our visit and then went to a couple of thrift stores to kill some time so we could go to our favorite steak house. We have none close to us so might get to one once a year. Ran into some really stormy weather while in the area there.

Hoping DH stays healthy now so we can try to do more-I am still nervous getting very far from home since all that has happened to him.

It has been warm here the last couple of days. It has been in the high 80's. I have had it with Kohl's. I told them I would work one day week either Saturday or Sunday but, not both days. So, I went to get my schedule today. They have me working Saturday 7am - 11:30am AND Sunday 8am - 4pm. So, I called and talked to one of the managers and explained. She said you have both days down. I told yes but, I am not working 7 days a week after working a full - time job. I need time off to rest to get ready for my work week. The Assist Mgr said that he would email everyone and see what she can do and for me to call in tomorrow. I put in a change of schedule and put down that could work Saturdays only 7am to 12pm. Since they can seem to follow the other schedule that i gave them.

Hope everyone is having a great week. emoticon

Sandy-good for you for taking care of yourself. It is nice to help them out but not when it wears you down too much.

I felt good yesterday and may have done more than I should have because today I feel like the chest is tightening up again. I certainly do not want a relapse of the pneumonia so planning to take it easy for a few days. I did notice it was very humid when I walked and I am sure that didn't help.

DH is doing good so praying that things will continue to improve for him in the coming week. It would be nice to not go to the hospital every 3 or so weeks!! Our grandson & his family will be down for a Disney cruise later in the week and will come and spend a day with us the following week so looking forward to that.

Vali - Sounds like you had fun except for your flight home.

Pat - Sorry to hear to about DH. Glad that he is home now.

Nan - Always good to hear from you.

I was suppose to work at Kohl's this weekend but, called out sick. No, I wasn't sick I was so tired that i just needed the rest. From working my full time job. Working 6 days was starting to wear on me. This past week was crazy enough without adding one more day. It was good to rest and I got a lot done here at home that I haven't been able to.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Nice to have a somewhat routine day today. DH went with his buddies to coffee klatch & I walked before I took Abbie to the groomer. I got some odd jobs taken care of at home before we picked her up at noon. This afternoon we went to get my National Park Pass. It is still $10 thru this month but then the price goes to $80! Quite an increase. Vickie & I both got ours. Our hubbies have theirs but thought it was a good idea to get ours in case something happens to them-they are not transferrable!

Poor guy. I hope they're able to figure out where the bleed is so they can treat it.

I didn't do anything much today but yesterday I went and got my dark roots bleached. I lost most of the purple but now I have a little bit of pink on both sides of my hair near the front. I think that will be okay for job interviews, though I wish all of the purple had bleached out. Oh well. It's obvious that I'm not really a blonde because I've still got dark eyebrows so hopefully nobody will be too surprised if I go in to interview with a tiny little bit of pink...

It's been so hot all over the country recently. I hope that all of you have been alright in the heat, and also that it cools down for all of us soon. Everybody have a great weekend.

There was much rejoicing!

Val when my printer and laptop quit talking, I usually have to uninstall the printer, then reinstall it and Voila, it works again!! I seem to have to do this about every month or so!! You might try that.

The blood thinners all cause Bill to have the GI bleeds - not sure why and they have not been able to pinpoint any exact spot so can't go in and cauterize. He will just be on a full strength aspirin from now on.

Pat, do they know what is causing your DH's GI bleeds and does his doctor think that they can be fixed somehow? I sure hope there is something that can be done surgically so that the two of you don't have to keep on going through all of this.

Well I haven't done much that's useful since I got back from my trip to Ohio. I really need to get up to Best Buy so that I can get a new wireless router for my computer and look at cell phones. I hate texting. I'd almost rather poke needles in my eyes than text, but everyone else in the world seems to be totally addicted to texting so if I'm going to be able to communicate with the rest of the world I guess I'm going to have to get a cell phone that's easier to use to poke needles in my eyes with. emoticon

I also need to shell out a few bucks and get someone from the Geek Squad to come to my apartment, get my wireless printer to work with my wireless computer...and then write down the settings I'll need to fix things myself when the computer and printer stop communicating again a couple of weeks later. (Can you tell I've been through this a couple of times before?...) Having a printer that will communicate with my computer will probably help me a lot once I get serious about looking for another job. I also need to contact a couple of previous managers and ask them to write letters of reference for me. Apparently I'm going to need a couple of those when I apply for the job I'm really hoping to get, so I'd better get on that pretty soon.

So that's pretty much everything that's going on in my neck of the woods. I hope that you're all having a really great week and I'll try to check in again soon.

There was much rejoicing!

DH has been back in the hospital since Mon with another GI bleed. That has stopped and he has received 2 units of blood and hemoglobin is coming back up. I am hoping he will get to come home tomorrow. He is not out of the woods since he had to come off all blood thinners except aspirin so now we are praying that this will work and he won't need bypass surgery.

Val except for the storms it sounds like you had a wonderful trip. I hope you will be able to return soon.

Poor Cali cat-I bet she really wasn't happy but glad she isn't carrying a grudge now. Abbie gives us the cold shoulder when we leave her with friends (not even in a kennel!).

Hi everyone. My trip was really great, though apparently I'm responsible for a bunch of thunder storms in the Columbus area this week. emoticon I flew from ABQ to Phoenix, where my connecting flight was delayed by an hour because of storms elsewhere in the country. Once we got to Columbus the airplane had to circle the airport for about an hour because of storms in the area, but eventually we were able to get the plane down and go on our merry way. Then yesterday my flight leaving Columbus was delayed for an hour because of lightning strikes at the airport. emoticon We got back to ABQ around midnight. This afternoon I went to pick Cali Cat up from the kennel around 1:00. She had been on another hunger strike so the vet at the kennel gave her an appetite stimulant, which got her eating again. Goofy little cat. emoticon I think that both times (she was on a hunger strike while I was out of town at the beginning of June, too) she was just mad at me for leaving her in the kennel with strangers so she decided to go on hunger strikes. Now she's okay, just walking around crying, probably because she wants attention...

Anyway, my visit with my brother and SIL was really great. While I was there we went to pick up a "new" horse they're buying. She's a real sweetheart, loves giving people hugs. Now they're almost up to their full complement of 5 horses...as long as you consider the mini horse and the great Dane among them. emoticon (That dog is big enough for young children to ride like a horse, and I'd bet that he's even good natured enough to allow a small child to climb on his back and ride him.) I wish I could have stayed for longer, but since I couldn't do that I'll just have to go back again sometime.

I hope that everyone is doing well and that you all have a great weekend. I'll post again soon when I have something else worth saying. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

Sandy sounds like a great fit for you. So happy you were able to get a job with a fixed schedule. Not always easy to find something these days. Nice of you to help out Kohls.

I got up before 8 this morning and went out to trip my sweet potato plant and wasn't out there 10 min but it really got me to coughing and it was hard for me to breathe, The friend who took me to Urgent Care last Mon caught me and chewed me out and told me to get back inside and REST! I am just not one who sits around and this has been a week of that and it is really getting to me!!

I did get some ironing done and plan to give Abbie a bath this afternoon. Work a bit, rest a bit!!

Val - i hope you have a great trip and have fun visiting your brother. I am working as a Admin. Assist. for a Janitorial supply Company. It is a great job. I had put my resume on Zip Recruiter. Did cost anything and they sent me places that were hiring. I just applied.

Pat - It is good to hear that Bill is doing better and you are too. Please take care of yourselves.

The job is going really great. I am getting things done on time or ahead of schedule. It was really nice to have last weekend off. I have been helping Kohl's out 1 Saturday a week. first time I didn't have to work the weekend.

Have a great week.

Val I hope you have an awesome trip. Thanks for the well wishes. Bill is doing better-still tired but I assume that is going to take him time to gain back his strength. I saw the dr this morning and he says my lungs are sounding better but to be sure, he is keeping me on antibiotics for another 5 days. Told me it is going to take another 7-10 days to get back to normal and to build back slowly into my routine so guess that is my game plan for now.

Hoping August is better than July has been!!

Pat, I really hope that you and Bill are both doing much better soon. No more walking pneumonia, no more needing blood transfusions, just able to hang out together at home and do the things that you normally do instead of having to worry about doctor's visits and staying in hospitals, which are just horrible places to have to hang out. It's so strange for me to think of wildfires in your neck of the woods. I'm used to thinking of Florida as being a lot more humid than New Mexico, but you've got wildfires and I think that at the moment we've only got one big one here. You can keep them, I've certainly got no use for them, but I hope that you get some rain to help put them out. Stay safe, my friend.

So I'm all packed and more or less ready to go tomorrow morning. I'm going to get up around 3:30 tomorrow morning so that I can take a shower, check to see if I need to pack anything else, and get the heck out of Dodge. I took Cali Cat to the kennel this afternoon and she wasn't particularly happy about having me put her in the crate or drive her a few blocks in the car. When I dropped her off I reminded them about the hunger strike she went on the last time she stayed with them, and how she started eating again once they gave her some tuna. Hopefully she'll do okay this time, though I certainly know that Mama is going to have to pay for leaving her with strangers again when I get back home next week...

I hope that Gail is enjoying her vacation. Even though I don't post every day I do read all of the posts and I've missed hearing from Gail. I hope that the week to come is a very good one for all of you and I'll chat with all of you again next week. emoticon emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

You are right Val that Bill's hemoglobin is low. He actually got 3 units of blood a little over 2 weeks ago when it got down to 6,5 so I am feeling good that it is coming up. Normal for him is between 10 and 10.5.
Hope you enjoy your visit back in Ohio. Always nice to get away and see something new. I keep hoping Bill will get well enough for us to do some short trips. Three hospitalizations in 5 weeks isn't too encouraging!!

I am still coughing a lot and spending a lot of time sleeping but guess the rest is what my body needs to heal. (Too much time in the hospital, especially the ER!).

Gail are you still on vacation? Wondering how your trip has gone?

My mom was a busy lady when my dad was still working, but she says that she's never been busier than she's been since he took early retirement. She's still got all of her own things to take care of, and now she has all of his things to help out with, too. Bill's hemoglobin is still kind of low, though it falls within what's considered a normal range, just sort of on the low end of normal. (Mine is generally around 12 or 14, but then I live at a high altitude where people generally have higher levels of hemoglobin because there's less oxygen for it to carry around so the body creates more of it to do the job.) Anyway, I hope they can get things under control for him. I also hope that you don't have walking pneumonia, which is especially miserable in the summer months when all you really want to do is stay cool instead of bundling up to stay warm. Take good care of each other.

Sandy, I hope that you're still loving your new job. Once I get back from next week's trip to Ohio I'm going to start applying for jobs here in town. I'm sure I'll be able to find one...just hope it's one I'll like...

I hope everything is going well for the rest of you. Everyone take care and I'll talk to you all again soon.

There was much rejoicing!

Good to hear from you Val. I hope you are enjoying your time off. I find I am busier since I retired than I ever was when I worked. People ask me about getting bored and I have to say I would like a few boring days!!

Bill & I both went to the dr today. His was a follow-up to his hospital stay last week. His hemoglobin has improved slightly since Fri. It was 8.3 then and 8.7 from his blood draw yesterday. Hoping for no more issues and his body can begin to build itself up again.
Dr. prescribed antibiotics and a cough suppressant pill for me. He also sent me for a chest x-ray to make sure I do not have walking pneumonia. I am certainly ready to start feeling better-been sick since Sat.

So hot here and with our a/c going out Sun afternoon it was miserable until it was up and running late Mon morning.

Sandy, I think I'm prematurely senile...what is the new job that you're working at now? I do remember that you had found a new job and that you really like it, just can't remember where you're working now. emoticon

I haven't been doing much recently. I'm just planning a trip I'm going to take in the middle of the month to visit my brother and his wife in Ohio, along with possibly looking for jobs there (though I really do not want to have to move to a place that has real winters...) and getting together with a couple of friends who live relatively close to the same part of the state. After I come back from my trip I'm going to start applying for jobs here in town. I'm hoping to be able to find a job here because I really hate moving and I really want to be able to stay in this apartment for at least another few years.

Anyway, there's really not that much going on with me right now but I want to try to get in the habit of posting more regularly so that nobody thinks I've dropped off the face of the earth. I hope the week has been going well for all of you. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

Sandy happy you love your new job. I bet it is great to have a set schedule now.

I am still under the weather and will see my own dr tomorrow. Trying to do a little around the house since everything fell apart the past week. I work 10 min and have to rest 30. Sure hard to not be able to do much without getting out of breath or starting to cough. I hope by the weekend I can start walking again.

Happy 4h of July

Hope everyone is having a good day. Not sure when I last posted. Bill was taken to ER by ambulance early Thur morning with heart attack symptoms-everyone thought it was but he tested negative-they finally decided his new stent was trying to close up since he was not on a blood thinner so now he is back on a different one. He got out Fri eve. Sat I came down with an awful bug and have been running a fever all weekend. Our a/c went out Sun afternoon which made things even more miserable. A friend took me to Urgent Care Mon morning while Bill stayed with tech working on our a/c. Our usual guy wasn't available and this one got us running but it won't shut off!!! He was to come back that afternoon but called to say he would come this morning but hasn't shown up so.....not happy campers. Expect them to fix this but won't be using this again. Bill had chest pains again yesterday but is ok today so I am hoping it was the stress of it all and the heat.
We did go to the community dinner this afternoon. I haven't felt like cooking so Bill is thankful that friends have been keeping him fed. Hope the weight I have lost will stay lost!!!
