Good Morning:

Was stressed out yesterday getting ready for my trip. I went to the airline website to go through the options to check in and found that my tour provided a Record Locator Number, but not a ticket number or a Booking number. I thought that the Booking number and Record Locator Number might be the same, but you never know. Long story short, I had a LONG wait to get to the tour staff.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

Gail

Pat: I'm thinking of Bill this morning and praying everything goes well.

Thanks Gail. We went this afternoon and did the pre-testing so now just waiting for morning - have to be at the hospital at 6 am. He is so tired all the time I am thinking there is an issue but guess this will answer that question.

I did manage to get my walk in this morning but didn't take Abbie for her walk as it is getting warm earlier than it was. I had to trim my butterfly tree as maintenance is going to power wash the fence in back of our house tomorrow and no plants can be touching it. I scraped my arm doing that and had to bandage that as it just wouldn't stop bleeding.

I got the grocery shopping done today and cleaned the living room and family room. I usually try to do a couple of days at a time instead of trying to do it all at once.

Gail it sounds like this is a much better place to work than where DD was at. Sometimes things happen for a good reason.

Bill is scheduled for his heart cath on Thur morning. Will be glad to find out if there is an issue. Then he will know if surgery can be scheduled for his torn rotator cuff. Living on Tylenol to dull the pain isn't good either.

Good evening

My daughter just did Face Time with me. She showed me her new apartment that they got for her. She thought a studio without a view was best because it would save the company money. Well, they decided that wasn't good enough for her so they got her a one bedroom with a view of the river. She has a walkin closet, stainless steel appliances and a laundry room. They also furnished it completely and it's lovely. This blows me away. Her title is VP of human resources. Just imagine how this is compared to where she was.....unbelievable. I'm so happy for her. She works hard but she's not stressed out the way she was in her old job. She really deserved this and they really appreciate her.

Wishing a Happy Mother's Day to all of the mothers out there. May you all enjoy a special day tomorrow.

God gave us a gift of some much needed rain today-think we got about 1.5 inches.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers in the group. I got a funny card from my son and daughter-in-law yesterday. Gave me a good laugh. Today my SIL is fixing a meal for my daughter, mhm mom and me. Looking forward to it.

Thanks Gail-going to need those prayers. Bill's stress test was abnormal so ortho doc has put everything on hold while we deal with this. Until he gets into the area, he isn't sure how extensive surgery will be to repair the tear. For now all he can do is ice the area and take Tylenol. We see the cardiologist on Mon and I imagine he will schedule a heart cath. I am praying he doesn't need any more stents and surgery can proceed. If he needs stents, it won't be happening for probably 3 months or until he can be taken off blood thinners he will have to take after the stent.

I have gotten in 10K every day but 1 since the 1st of May - hasn't been easy with all that has been going on but I have been determined to try to do this for me.

Today I got the weeds sprayed again. I can't seem to get them killed this year for some reason. We had our shrubs trimmed today. Since Bill can no longer help me, we had the young man who does our mowing trim them. I guess that is one more thing we are going to have to pay to have done. I can do it but need help on the hillside.

Oh Gail, what a shocker for you. Glad you were able to find someone to get the freezer out of there for you. Happy you weren't gone on your trip and came back to this.

We have the house painted and everything is pretty much put back together now. I hauled the items I no longer plan to use in the house to the thrift store today before taking Bill for his tests. That took up pretty much all afternoon. We left here at 12:15 and got home just before 6. Now I hope all is done and he can be cleared for surgery. Tomorrow we visit his ortho doc.

What a mess and what a stink! I went to the basement to get something from the freezer. Well, it seems that since the early 1970s when we bought it new, it decided to give u the ghost. I guess after 45 years we got out money's worth. The food in there spoiled and the meat and chicken smelled up the basemen. Fortunately, I didn't have too much....everything fit into a large supermarket bag. Naturally, when I brought the stuff upstairs, it stunk up the main floor too. I've got 4 windows and the door from the family room to the screened porch open. UGH! The garbage was already collected today so I went to find a dumpster to get rid of it.

I got lucky today. I still can't figure out how he managed it, but a young man brought the freezer up from the basement and put it at the curb for me. He also brought up a huge solid oak office desk. He didn't want to take any money, but I insisted and gave him $100. I would have had to pay movers far more and the work he did was very hard labor. Afterward, I went to the library to get a sticker for the freezer ($35). The city will take it away next Wednesday when they collect the garbage. As far as the desk is concerned, he put that in the garage. I'll call Goodwill or the Salvation Army and have them pick it up.

Hope you are all doing well,

Gail

Pat: You are doing great with your exercise. Brava!

I am proud to say I managed to get in 10K in 6 out of 7 days in the previous week-I got my stats today for last week and shocked me as I thought I missed it 2 days at least.

Took DH to cardiologist today and he has to have a stress test before he will approve him for the shoulder surgery.

Getting the kitchen painted today which is making it rough on me-trying to cook dinner for Barb & Eddie and we are going out with friends. What was I thinking/????

We are having some unseasonably cool weather for a couple of days and I am enjoying it. We will be back into the mid 90's in a few days so will consider these days a gift.

I have managed to get 10K or more 4 our of 7 days and the other 3 I hit at least 8-9K so quite happy with what I have done this week. Life should get easier after we get done with the painting next week. Of course then we will likely be dealing with getting Bill ready for surgery and then surgery!

The two trips I'm planning on are kind of personal visits wrapped in looking for possible jobs. In the end I want to apply for a job here in town by the end of July but I'll get paid until the end of September, one way or the other.

The trip to Flagstaff is to visit my friend who came here a few months ago but hurt himself and couldn't visit me while he and his wife were here. I'm also going to check out 3 hospitals that are in the area and see if I want to work there if I can't find a job here in town. The trip to Ohio is to visit my brother and his wife. They own a little farm near Columbus and they've got horses and big dogs. I really don't want to live in a part of the country that does as much real winter as Ohio does but I might as well check out hospitals in that area while I'm there.

Anyway, that's what's going on around here right now. Not nearly as exciting as the trip Gail is going to be taking and luckily not as cold as some of you are still dealing with. Have a great weekend everyone.

There was much rejoicing!

Gail how exciting to be going to Italy. I don't remember, did you say how long you will be gone? Everything we were thinking of doing this summer is now on hold pending what happens with Bill's shoulder. I am pretty sure it will mean surgery but not sure how long he will need rehab. Can't do anything till that is done. Pretty sure we aren't going to be able to do the whitewater trip in TN that we were contemplating!! I am still hoping we will be able to do the fall colors bus tour this fall.

I got up at 6 AM so I could fit everything I needed to get done in. Today was our last Thur. morning breakfast. I won't mind not going-getting tired of it to tell the truth. We had 10 at breakfast today but 6 of them will be gone before next Thur. When we got home, I sprayed more weeds in our rocks around the house-the dratted things just won't die!! Then I got busy doing more stripping on the wallpaper. I got another wall completely done and have the last one about half done. My legs get sore standing on the ladder and my arm is aching from all the scraping so I try not to go more than 2 hours at a time. I am hoping that tomorrow will finish the job of removing the wallpaper and then I can prep the walls for painting.

This afternoon we had friends over to play cards and had to give in and turn on the a/c in our Florida room. There has been a nice breeze but it was HOT. Tomorrow we are only to be in the upper 70's so I am looking forward to that.

The ladies were victorious and after everyone headed home, we warmed up leftover turkey pot pie and I cooked an ear of corn to go with it and now ready to crash for the evening-need to check to see if I have met my 10K and if not, will get my steps in!

Good Morning:

Pat: Yes, removing or putting up wallpaper is a bear. I've never done it and have no desire to. I have never painted either, and would be incapable at this point. My home has neutral tones throughout except for the dining room which isa med/dark green. It is dramatic with my three large lithographs in gold frames. Never had a darker color on the walls before, but this really works.

Val: Do you have friends or relatives in OH and AZ? You sound really on an even keel and I'm so glad for you.

Starting to prepare for my trip to Italy later this month. Have a few things to pick up today: Euros, a money belt, and underwear. The time is coming very soon, the third week in May.

Sending hugs to everyone.

Gail

Val great to hear from you. Sounds like you have a plan. Are you taking these trips to see if you would like to work in these areas or is it just for pleasure?

I am working on removing the wallpaper in our big bathroom and if I had known what a job it was, I would not have tackled it. Believe me when I remove in it our living room/dining room area it will not be ME doing it!! Hoping by the end of next week the job is completely done-removed, painted and everything back up-we even had to remove the medicine cabinet-all 4 foot of it! That was fun!!

I'm working on planning trips to Flagstaff, AZ and the Columbus, OH area between now and the end of July. After I've taken those trips I'm going to start applying for jobs with the one company in town that hires people who do what I do. Turns out I don't have to wait until November to start applying for jobs, that was just an incorrect impression that a lot of us were given when we took severance in February. Aside from that, no big plans here so far.

There was much rejoicing!

What is everyone working on for May? I am trying to get in 10K daily and plan to add in some pool time 3x a week for now - a lot depends on if DH has shoulder surgery!
