Pat - That is wonderful about your GS. He will do it. I am glad that you are no where near the fires.

I went into work at 5:30 am to do price changes today and cash office. It was a busy day. It rained off and on today. It was about 56 for the high today.

Have a great day!

Thanks for the prayers Sandy. The closest fire to us is about 20-25 miles away. Luckily we do not have any large forested areas close to us. We have a subdivision on one side of our community and a dr owns the property on the other side of us and is a buffer between us and a pasture area with some trees but nothing dense. Luckily about 2 years ago they went in and cleaned out a mobile home park that was abandoned-the real estate bust lost the sale after they bought everyone out and it has not been developed.

I was up very early this morning as I wanted to get my steps in before church. I have linked my Fitbit up with GS and his wife and I am trying to keep up with them-they are in their 30's so giving me a run for my money!! GS is beating me by almost 10K but I am beating his wife by almost 10K. I am so proud of them, they get up at 4 am to go to the gym before work as they have 2 girls in school and in several activities so going after work just wasn't working for them. Michael has gone from 437 lbs to 366 and his wife has lost 40 lbs. Michael is 6'6" and is wanting to get to 275 and I believe he is going to succeed. We are so proud of them for making their health a priority.

Pat - Been thinking of you an all the fires there. Been sending a lot of prayers your way. Are the three of you all OK?

Talk to my allergy doctor yesterday. She said part of my migraines can be because if the high pollen count we are having right now. She has called in some med for me to help with my sinus. She thinks it might help. But, I am feeling much better today. We have rain today which will bring down the pollen count.

Can't believe that May will be here on Monday. emoticon

Have a great week!

Sandy so happy to hear that the worry of the business is behind you and now hope the migraine is doing better. I do believe stress can trigger them. Hoping that DH does well with which ever job he decides on.

We are having abnormally hot weather-into the mid 90's with heat index near 100 the past couple of days. This is very dangerous with how dry it is and all the wild fires burning in the area. Praying that our rain chances go up next week.

I am having to get up earlier and earlier to walk before it gets too hot. Luckily today there was a bit of a breeze.

This is bike week in town so trying to pretty much stay in and avoid the traffic. The locals can live with this as it is only 4 days once a year.

Well, it is done. They picked up all the signs today and will be picking up the post this weekend or next. I worked 2 overnights this week and came home at the end of the second night with a migraine so bad. I had it for about 2 days but it got worse by end of my overnight. Been having a lot more lately. I will see the Doctor in June and talk to her about it. She may need to increase my meds.

But, I do feel a big relief now that I don't have the business. I can come home and relax now without having to worry about a phone ringing or the fax going off or having to check the e-mail every 5 mins. I might every go on a vacation, that is if I had the money to do so.

More good news DH has been offered a job with a trucking company that will pay him to get his Class-A license (that is about $5,300 to take a class or more). He will be paid $24.00 an hr. He comes up for his 30 day review with his other job on the 7th of May. So, he wants to see what kind of rise he will get first. He has semi comment to the other company but, is to let them know for sure here soon.

Well, that is all for me this week. I am still looking for job. But, so far Kohl's has been giving me 25 to 26 hrs a week.

Hope everyone has a really great weekend.

emoticon Sandy-happy that is now behind you and you can concentrate on finding a job that is what you really want. Happy job hunting!!

I am trying to get caught up on some things around home. I want to get started on my bathroom-I have to strip the wallpaper and get it ready to paint. Looking forward to getting that done and painting the hallway and kitchen. I figure those are projects to do when it gets too hot to work outside this summer.

Looking forward to our oldest grandson coming to visit with his family in late July and wanting to have this done before then. So proud of him and his wife-he has lost over 60 lbs and she has lost 40. They aren't done yet but making major strides in a healthier lifestyle. He has gone from couch potato to gym rat!! They get up and go to the gym at 4 am as that seems to be the only time they can fit it in their busy schedules. Now I am synced with their fitbits so we can challenge each other to do better on a daily basis. Those kids are making it hard on Grandma but.....I am not going down without a fight! emoticon

Well, as of Saturday the business is in someone else hands. The guy was really nice as he is getting everything out before I have to pay the storage fee again so that is a savings of $ 800 and he is giving me $ 500 for all the post and flyer boxes. All my clients have been super understanding and sad to see us go. But, for me it is a relief and I feel much better. A lot less stress for me.

Hope everyone has a great week! emoticon

Sandy sorry you weren't able to sell the business but it sounds like you at least stopped the
bleeding". Sometimes just doing that relieves the immense pressure one feels. Only someone who has owned their own small business understands. Our friends always thought because we had our own business it was all profit-ha ha!

Good luck on finding another job soon.

Vickie & I got all the Easter decorations picked up today, washed, set out to dry, and I put them away this afternoon. Glad to have that job done and no decorating to do until the fall.

I got in n early 11K today. Besides my normal morning walk, I got a lot of steps in working in the park.

Well, I couldn't sell the business and I barley could give it away. But, finally got someone to take the business. I am not getting anything but, peace of mind. I will sell the truck and what I can for it and hopefully make a little extra.

I am still looking for another job that has regular hours and pays better. But, so far nothing.

hope that everyone is having a great week.

Had a nice time yesterday with our friends.

Today I walked early and spent a good part of the day housecleaning and ironing. Having friends over for a fish fry on Wed so wanted to get that behind me. Tomorrow I have a meeting in the morning and will do some food prep for Wed in the afternoon.

I think things are turning around here. I have the new laptop and it is up and running and I am trying to get used to it!! Sure was thankful my friend could get my pictures and files off the old one after I fried it! DH should have his new replacement hearing aide on Mon or Tues so all is right with the world.

We are going to an early dinner with friends. Hoping by going at 3:30 the crowds will be down and we won't have a long wait.

We are getting desperate for rain. There are 20 fires burning in Central FL and I am thankful none are too close to us to worry about but feel bad for those where it is a danger. Several highways have been closed from time to time and a camp burned near Orlando but no one was hurt.

Good Morning:

I am so sorry to hear about the difficulties you are having Sandy. It boggles the mind that executives who make $5,000/hour are complaining about a minimum wage of $15/hour.

The workmen came and resided my house on Thursday. They came back yesterday to finish but they didn't have enough siding. I was told they should have it by Monday or Tuesday. OK, but I'm not holding my breath. Just a small part has yet to be done, and in any case the house is wrapped in some special stuff, so even if it take a while the rain won't be an issue.

I just spoke to my daughter and she sounds great. She is so glad she got her Master's in Organizational Development. It all applies to this new job. She's got her work cut out for her because her predecessor left no notes, manuals, etc. she had everything in her head. So Helena is starting from ground zero. She loves the work but has a lot to do. The commute is not good so she will probably be getting a studio apartment about a block from her work. The location is very good and there are restaurants and a couple of supermarkets in walking distance. I'm so happy for her.

Today it is supposed to get up to about 70. Woo Hoo! I'm going to take a shower and get out there. Spring is here.

A lot of employers are really cheap these days. At the job I just took severance from the most you could ever get was 3 percent and they based what percentage of 3 percent they gave you on your score on your yearly evaluation. (If you got a 90 percent on your eval then you bot 90 percent of 3 percent, etc.) So most years I'd get about a quarter an hour as my raise. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

Sandy so sorry the person didn't finish the deal so you could sell the business. Running your own business is not easy. Selling can be even tougher. Will be praying that someone else comes along and makes you an offer.

WOW you get a top review and only a 2% raise. Not too great. Good luck in finding something better.

We took today as a "play day". We went to breakfast with our Thursday group and we had talked the owner of the restaurant into giving us a healthy option-instead of potatoes, he fixed us a small fresh fruit bowl which I pared with a small garden omelet.

I did a couple things after we got home and by 10:30 we were headed out on our friend's pontoon for a day on the lake. We didn't get back until 4:30. It was a great day. We went further north than I had ever been and locked thru the big lock into the Ocklawaha River. The lock raises and lowers you in your boat by 35 feet!! We found the river to be really low so didn't venture very far up it so had to turn around and lock back thru.

We saw several gators today and many birds and lots of nesting birds.

Now tomorrow I have to get back to life and take care of lots of things I neglected today!!

I got my review at work and got a very high one. The raise that went with it was only 2%. So, I am up to a whole $12.24 now. I am still looking for a new job. I thought I had sold the business but, the guy that was going to buy the business stopped payment on his check before I could put it in the bank. I had the bank check it before I deposited it. I tried calling the person and e-mailing but never returned either till about a week ago. When he offer to help me out. I delete e-mail and have not e-mailed him back. Tore the contract up also. I also had his copy too. Hopefully someone else will come along here soon.

Hope everyone has a great Easter! emoticon

They shouldn't let people past 40 touch some of these electronics! Just find a 3 yr old-they can do it!!

I feel your pain my friend.

Today was another full one for me. I have gotten in over 11,500 steps today. After my walk, Vickie & I went shopping for plants for the park and now they are in the ground. We definitely wanted to get them planted before the weather got too hot.

This is going to be another busy week for me-think we have something going every single day.

What an experience! It's been a bear installing the TIVO and after a few hours on Saturday my electrician was unable to make headway. We called Tivo and were on hold forever, so we hung up. Then we called Charter. We must have spoken with 6-7 reps including a supervisor. No-one knew which end was up with the Tivo. A Charter rep stopped by my house in the afternoon and asked if I had called about balloons caught in my wires. No...not me. But I went on to tell him about the trouble we were having installing Tivo. He told me to call for a tech to come out and trouble shoot. Well, they sent an angel. This young man knew exactly what to do. Moreover, he refreshed my modem and programed the Tivo remotes. I'm up and running. To top it all off he was personable, kind, and a pleasure to work with.

Tomorrow I'm going to the second Passover Seder at a friend's home. I'm bringing a fruit salad for 10. OMG....so much fruit! One person who will be there is a strict vegan. Well, at least she'll have something good to eat.

Hope you are all doing well and are happy.

What a difference a day makes. High of 95 yesterday and hit 75 for a high today! Had quite a thunderstorm during the night and tornado warning but luckily it didn't develop into anything.

More yardwork for me while it is cooler. Hoping to get the spring planting done next week. So much to do and it seems like it all needs to be done ASAP.

Good Morning:

The sun is out. Hallelujah! It's a good omen.

Last night my phone service went out. Luckily I have a cell phone. I use the cell so infrequently (2-3 times a year) that I haven't even memorized the number. Instead I have it pasted on the back of the phone. Long story short, I called on my cell and Charter Spectrum fixed it on their end. It involved the "registration", whatever that is. It's good to be back in business. It's not good to live alone without a phone.

I went to the Hospice Thrift Shop yesterday and got few things: I frame for my daughter's baby picture that I'll display in the family room, a light long sleeve sweater (Talbots), and a kitchen tool that I was hoping to find. The tool has a very wide blade so that after you chop something up you can scoop the veggies up and toss them in the pot. I think they call it a cleaver prop. A few days ago I went to St. Vincent's and bought a small wire whisk. All tolled, I've spent a bit over $10. Truly, I haven't done this much shopping in ages. LOL.

Hope you are all doing well.

Gail

Sandy: So sorry that you continue to have such a hard time. I wish I could just reach out and hug you. Keeping you in my thoughts and hoping things turn around for you very soon.

Val: It sounds like you are handling your situation very well. I'm very happy about that. It's also good that you are taking time for yourself.

Nan: Where are you? Doing anything these days? I've discovered jigsaw puzzles on my IPad and really enjoy them. Did you ever try that?

You are right Val, our weather isn't for everyone. However it was just as hot when we lived in STL it just didn't last as long!! Today we were only in the 70's as we finally got some much needed rain. Actually got nearly 2 1/2 inches and we might get more

I was happy to have a rain day as I took time to try to catch up on some of my NBC shows on my laptop. I am wondering if Dish is ever going to settle with Hearst. It has been a month now!!

We went to a memorial service for one of our residents this afternoon. He passed away about 2 weeks ago.

Wow Pat! It's only March and already your temperatures are too hot for my comfort! Don't think I'd survive your humid summers any more than I would the super hot summers my parents have near Tucson. (Theirs are a lot hotter but not so humid.) We didn't have much of a winter this year but it's still kind of cool here. It was cold and rainy here today, which I actually kind of like. (The rain more than the cold.)

Nothing new going on around here. I've been attempting to find some kind of job here in town without much luck. That's okay, I've got time. I'll be getting my severance pay for 7 months starting sometime soon. If I can't find a job before November I'll apply with the company that's taking over all of the hospital labs in town but I'm really hoping to find a job before then. I'm going to visit my friends in Flagstaff and check out hospitals there in early June and I'll probably take a trip up to the Colorado Springs area sometime in June as well. I know there are lots of jobs out there, just not entirely certain that I'll be able to find one in an area I'm really interested in. Guess I'll just have to see what I can dig up...

Anyway, not much else to report from here. I hope the new month is starting out really well for all of you.

There was much rejoicing!

Sandy so sorry they are not giving you many hours. After working you so much now you can't get the hours-go figure. Good luck with your interview.

I was up early to walk as I knew it was going to get hot this afternoon-we hit 93! Too hot too early.

We had friends over this afternoon to play cards and the guys whupped the ladies. Oh well, they have to win sometime or they won't want to play. After everyone left about 4, we went to grab a quick bite and did some grocery shopping. I was out of basics and needed fresh fruit.

Hours this week are 12. Talked to my boss & she apologized for what has happened. The person that had been doing the schedule had been leaving a few of us off the schedule as we didn't have a truck so we got shorted. She promised that it won't happen again. I have 24 hrs for the following week and was able to get in 26 hrs last week but, only have 12 this week. I have an interview this week plus a doctors appt. and I need to make a DDS and eye and annual Physical appt too this week. I also heard that my BIL my be coming for a visit too.

The business may be sold hopefully this month. I have 2 companies that I have reached out to to see if they want to by it.

I am doing pretty good otherwise. Meeting with my Aunt on Wednesday for lunch.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Gail how wonderful! Maybe you will be close enough we can finally meet up!

Today was church and afterwards we went out to celebrate a friend's birthday. It was actually last Sun. but since several of us were sick, we had to postpone it for a week. I did get in my hour walk before church. Beautiful morning-about 69 out but we got to 92 this afternoon.

Pat: Sounds like you did well.

Sandy. What's happening with you? Are you doing OK?

Val: I think it's good that you are taking some time for yourself and, at at the same time, clearing out some old, unneeded stuff.

Well, things will be changing for me next winter. My daughter and sil are building a retirement home in Florida on the Gulf coast. They've several years till retirement, but she can't stand the cold of Wisconsin winters and wants desperately to have a place to go to. They found their ideal spot and are keeping me in their plans. Theirs's a mother-in-law bedroom and bathroom in the front of the house that's separated from the rest of the house by a foyer. She's expecting me to spend a lot of time in the winter there till they retire so the house doesn't sit empty. It's quite a boon for me as I'm intolerant of cold, bleak weather. After they retire, if I'm still around, they'll put up with me. LOL I get on very well with them, but mostly I keep to myself, reading and listening to beautiful music. It works for me.

Having a friend to dinner tonight. I really like this lady, she's a sweetheart and I don't get to see her very often.

Wishing you all a happy Sunday.

Gail

Val good luck in getting rid of your stuff and figuring out what you want to do. Sure lots of big decisions for you.

Today I went to several yard sales and picked up some items for the park's gardens and found some oil paintings I will use as I am redecorating and bought myself 2 outfits-capris and tops and Bill a pr of Levi shorts.

I'm still in NM. Haven't really put any serious effort into finding a new job yet. I'm going to start looking at a few things here in town because I really want to be able to stay in my apartment, but I'm going to have to look out of state as well. I've been checking out the hospitals in Flagstaff and Colorado Springs. My mom is hoping that I'll get a job in their area, where there are sure to be many good jobs available to me, but I can't take the heat in southern Arizona. I'm going to spend some time looking into things, and then in the end I may just wait it out here and apply here in town when I'm allowed to at the end of 9 months.

I set myself a goal of getting rid of half of my stuff over the course of my severance/vacation. I doubt that I'll get anywhere near that, but it's something to shoot for. I guess I'd better get to work on that...Hope you all have a fantastic weekend. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

Pat: That's wonderful news! I've kept away from gluten and have on rare occasion used a trace of sugar as an ingredient in a recipe...not a dessert....This month I want to cut back on dairy. and cut back on rice and white potatoes.

Val: How are you doing? Are you still in NM?

Nan: What do you have on the table this month?

Sandy: Any goals for you this month?

Well, I got my DNA results back from ancestry and I'm very uninteresting... 96 % Eastern European with just traces of a few areas and 0% of all others. Gee.. I wish I were a mongrel. That would be more interesting, don't you think?
