Good Morning:

I have a tripped planned for the fall and was notified yesterday that the airline I was booked with changed their schedule and they will be putting me on another carrier. I'm OK with that. It's never the return trip that concerns me; it's the flight to the starting point of the trip. Imagine the confusion if you don't arrive with the rest of the group.

As for my plan to go window shopping yesterday, that fell through. The weather was so miserable and I just couldn't bring myself to go out. Rainy, windy and cold...UGH. I had a lovely day indoors, did read, watched a bit of TV, and created a new crustless quiche filling: asparagus, green onions and chopped spinach. Yum.

Got some great news yesterday. My son-in-law signed a contract with a gallery to show his work. This is a very big deal. I'm so happy for him. I believe I told you about his website. So much talent....It's very hard for artists to earn a living from their art. Those who I've known who were serious artists either lived very modestly and supplemented their income with unrelated work, or were supported by their spouse. Not an easy life.

Well, we are starting the weekend with a new month. Hope it's great for you all in every way.

Hope you had fun shopping Gail. At least window shopping.

I am still not up to par. These allergies are really getting to me this year. I have not had a problem since moving down here so not sure what changed this year. The medicine seems to make me sleepy so not a lot of energy but trying to power thru some things every day.

Going to try to get my butt out of the house today to window shop. Just want to work up to walking about more. Thought I'd stop at the retail shop and might go to a discount store to get some make up. it's been ages ( a couple of decades ) since I used face powder. I'm always afraid it will be the wrong color.

Still haven't read for almost a week now. Got hooked on all sorts of puzzles on my IPad!

Hoping you're all doing well.

This morning I stepped in to work with the new manager. Sharon had to go to the dentist and since it is only her 2nd day, she wanted me there to help guide her. Man, has it been years since I have done any training!! Think we did ok. We worked on paying invoices and setting up to enter the payments for the coming month.

Going to get my hair done today. Oh, joy. I don't enjoy it a bit; it just wastes time,

Going to try to get some reading in today. Have let it go for abut 2-3 days.

Enjoy the day and be happy.

Good for you Gail!!

Warm here-had to turn on the a/c. I got some new medicine for my sinus and boy is it working. Xyzal sure did help. It was prescription only but now can be bought OTC.

Went through the dickens getting my new TIVO installed but it's up and running. They only sent one set of cords and accessories, so they are shipping the second. At least now, having gone through it once the second set up should be a breeze.

Got to go to run some errands but will try to get back later today.

Sandy: So sorry for all your worries. Hope that things turn around very soon. I know what it's like to lose a bundle. After Victor died I gave away tons of stuff, and I got hosed on the stuff I sold. It doesn't go down easy but it was either that or stew in my bitter juices for the rest of my life.

Sending good energy to everyone.

Sandy sorry things are tough at the moment. Owning your own business is not a bed or roses for sure. I was never so happy as when we sold ours. Like you, we didn't make a big profit but at least stopped the bleeding!

I am still dealing with my cold. I am wondering if I am going to have to go to the dr. I don't think I need antibiotics, just allergies and an old fashioned cold but geez wish it would get better soon.

I worked in the gardens for over 2 hours today. We are making progress and hoping to get the spring cleanup done and over with. I think this weekend we will get most of our Easter decorations out.

Well, I am in the process of selling my business to my competitor for next to nothing. But, it will be better than losing the house and everything else. I have been so stress dealing with all of the Agents and the New 811 law here that I have had it. My Competitor is a larger company and gets help from his family also. He doesn't have the over head that I do. So, it works. I will sell the truck after that and pay it off and hopefully make a little money off that. DH is working a really good job and is due for a raise here soon. I am looking for a New job. I have let work know that if I don't get more hours here soon I will be leaving. My Dept is up in sells above all the others. The only other problem is the pay. It really is not enough. I do get paid weekly. So, I think I will finally get my life back on track again. I am broke but, I have been here before and claimed out and I will do it again.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Good evening

Had problems with TV signal, so charter came out. It was a quick, easy fix. I needed a new box so they swapped out the old one and voila!

Hope you are all doing well.

Woke up feeling bad so not getting a lot accomplished today. I have just put a small turkey breast in the oven for dinner. Now I need to figure out what we will eat with it.

Hoping I can lick this quickly as I have too much to do to be ill!

We got down to 36 overnight which is extremely cold for us this late in the year.

Gail, we would freeze if we kept the house that low! Bill freezes and sits with a blanket on most of the time and I keep it at 74 when I have the heat on and 78 for the a/c. I really do think there is some truth that our blood gets used tot he warmer temps and can't handle cold well after living down here for a few years!!

I think Bill shared his bronchitis with me. I am getting a scratchy throat and now my nose is getting stuffy. I won't wait 2 weeks to get medicine like he did.

We got our 30,000 mi checkup on the car today and they changed the oil and rotated the tires. This was the last of our free services.

A friend has her daughter down this week so I took them thrift store shopping this afternoon and the DD was able to find a number of nice blouses for work and also bought a purse. I am glad she was able to find some things. It is sure a lot cheaper to buy thru the thrift store than a dept. store. I think she got 8 or 9 blouses/sweaters and the purse and didn't spend $50!

Good Afternoon:

My daughter stopped by yesterday; it was her last day of work. She was all right. For one thing, though she will still look around, she has a job offer to interview, hire and train personnel for a company that was just bought out. The job can be anything she wants: full time, part time, permanent or by contract. Madison is, in some ways, a small town and her reputation is well known. The person who bought the company is a very good friend and neighbor. He and his wife are close with my daughter and her husband. He told her he was doing this for himself, not for her.

The job is in Waukesha, I believe. It's a suburb of Milwaukee, closer to Madison. I'm glad that she has something to hold on to after this horrible lay off.

Sending you all hugs,

Gail

Sandy. Good you can rest up. Get lots of sleep.

Pat: We go around with light sweaters or jackets, or, if wearing a long sleeved shirt, nothing over it when the temps get to the 60s. Heck, most of us keep our homes at 65-68 in winter!

Gail sorry everything is crashing in on you. When it rains it pours. Just take things one day at a time.

Sandy glad you are getting some rest. Be glad it is just rain and not snow like they are getting in the NE.

We are getting the cold now. Our high today was 64 which is cool for us and it is going down from there for a couple of days.

Gail the 17 day diet is what I did a couple of years ago. You do the diet in 17 day phases. The 1st phase is the most strict. You can look it up on the internet. It gives you healthy foods but limits carbs and fats. The 1st phase helps you adjust and eliminate sugar from your diet.

Gail - I am sorry to hear about what you are going through.

I am doing good. I have 4 days off and spend today on the phone and ran out for a couple of things. Tomorrow I will go to Costco as I just didn't feel like it today. I had a mirage from the phone calls.

We are getting a lot of rain this week and the wind chill is cool.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Good Morning:

Sorry a lot has been happening with my family and friends over the past several weeks. A friend's dad died, my daughter was laid off after a reorganization, and my daughter-in-law was in crisis trying to help her sister. I thought I was handling things OK but for three of the past 4 days I've been eating non-stop. It's all healthy stuff but just too much. The thing of it is I haven't been gorging. It's just been a slow constant stream of eating and the food really adds up.

Well, today is another day. Wish me luck.

Gail

Pat: What is the 17 day diet?

Val: How you doing?

Sandy: I cannot imagine how much you've been through and how much you are hurting now. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

We are enjoying our warm weather while it lasts. I walked both dogs separately this morning. We are dog sitting for our friends who kept Abbie while we went on our mini trip. They left this morning for a week long cruise.

I did get some yard work done this morning for the park and hung an Easter wreath on the clubhouse. I managed to get my ironing caught up and now I am trying to catch up our NBC programs since NBC (Hearst) and Dish are in a conflict and we are blacked out here and have been for a week. I just figured out we could get them on the NBC app on our smart tv!! More than one way to skin a cat I guess!!

Sandy it sounds like you have been making some major life changing decisions. I hope you will be able to find a job that pays your more.

I seem to be busy every day. We had friends over Tues afternoon to play cards. I have been getting up early so I can get in my steps. I am also trying to get the park gardens shaped up for spring and we had our maint. men pull out some plants and we will plant something else in their place soon.

I went back on the 17 day diet on Mon. and doing well staying on track so far. Vickie & I did this a couple of years ago with great success but as with most, we have gained some weight back so felt it was time to get focused and back on track.

Taxes are done and sent to CPA. Made appt for Mammogram. Will be making Annual Physical on Monday along with eye and dental appt.I have 4 days off next week and I am not really happy about it. I am starting to look for a new job that pays a little more. I am also selling the business for whatever I can get for it. Then sell the truck if it don't go with it. DH has a really good job that he loves and is enjoying. It pays him well too. He has been giving me part of his pay check to help in paying the bills and for the business.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Val good luck on the taxes and the job hunt.

We filed our taxes today. We go to the AARP tax aide and did a walk-in and actually got luck and got taken care of right away. Glad to have that taken care of.

I have to wait to file my taxes until I get one last document sometime this month. It has to do with claiming my flexible spending money on my taxes or something. Once I get that I'll file right away. It will help me make it through the couple of months after my severance runs out if I decide to apply for a job at a hospital here in town when I'm allowed to again. I'm just not sure about that right now...

I'm going to go visit my friends in Flagstaff at the end of the month. I'll stay there for a few days and then drive down to see my parents near Tucson for a few days. To prepare for that I'll need to get an oil change and maybe a tune up, and I'll need to get my kitty her shots so that she can stay at our favorite kennel while I'm out of town. I also need to get myself back on a day shift kind of schedule because I really don't like driving at night.

Anyway, that's all the excitement in my life at the moment. I hope the week starts out well for all of you.

There was much rejoicing!

Wind dancer don't you just love being able to buy produce year round at the markets. I haven't bought a flat yet this year. I need to go this week and restock as I tried to use up everything before we left on our trip.

I can't believe how windy it has been the past few days. I don't remember us having several days in a row of such windy conditions. It is sunny out and temps are in the low 70's but the brisk wind is making it feel cooler.

I plan to go to the library and get our taxes done in the morning. AARP sets up there from early Feb thru Apr 13. I have had them ready since early Feb and for some reason just haven't gone to get that done so made up my mind that tomorrow is the day!! I am trying to complete some partially finished tasks. Once that is done I have to shop for car insurance. Our rate has been going up every year and we have had no claims and haven't had any in about 15 yrs so think I will do some comparison shopping. Need to be frugal!!!

Good Morning:

I made pork tenderloin tips for the first time and they were so tender and tasty. Next time I won't cook them quite so long. They were dry. I made some dip with sour cream and that went so well with it.

Started a new Michael Dibden book, Cabal. It's the third in the Aurelio Zen series. Like him, but nobody is as funny, easy reading and character insight as the Montalbano series by Andrea Camilleri.

FROSTY99 I love St Augustine I don't live far from there next weekend my sister is having a birthday at the beach there I'm looking forward to.

Today was a good one for me had time to do my hip hop ab workout, and also a leg on here on the site. After that, I went and shopped at some of the local farmer stands, and was able to get a whole flat of really ripe, and sweet strawberries for 11 bucks I'm going to try and grow some of the seeds from them because these were the best I saw this year so far.

I am wiped out and glad to be home but had a great trip, I did lots of walking in all 3 cities. We were very lucky to have warm weather, a cold front is to move in this evening with rain and much cooler temps so the trip was lucky in that respect.

Late last month I decided to go back to little or no sugar and gluten. I don't worry about 1t of sugar in 6-7 cups of a liqiuid but otherwise the only sugar I get is from fresh fruit. So far so good.

Gail

Val. I have a good feeling for you too.

Pat. Enjoy your trip. Where are you going?

Nan. A friend introduced me to jigsaw puzzles this winter and I love them. Do at least one a day on my IPad.

Well my first goal for the month of March would be to get you to look at a calendar and see that there are actually 28 days in February, but I'm okay with starting March a day early. The quicker we get out of winter, the better. emoticon

My other goal for the month of March is to find myself a new job. I've got some leads so I'll just have to see what I can dig up. Things are going to work out okay, I can feel it. emoticon

The last goal I've got for the month is to adjust my lasagna recipe so that I can make butternut squash lasagna. I've got some ideas on that, but maybe I should just try looking up a recipe online...sounds like a halfway decent plan. emoticon

I hope the week is starting out really well for the rest of you. Stay warm.

There was much rejoicing!
