I am heading out for 3 days on a bus trip so likely won't be posting.

Looking forward to getting away if only for a few days. Just hoping DH doesn't get really sick. He is still having tummy issues.

We've had an pretty easy winter here, just a couple of snow days in town and never really much that hadn't melted by the afternoon. Of course, both mornings that I woke up to snow were mornings when my car was not in my covered parking space...

I've been mostly resting this week. Next week I'm going to try to get my butt in gear and at least do something useful. I need to organize my stuff and get rid of a lot of it so that I won't have to move things I don't really need or want. I also need to start investigating online to see what hospitals there are in areas where I'd like to live so that I can start looking for jobs.

I hope that everyone has a great weekend.

There was much rejoicing!

I survived another week of work. I got to go over things with Sharon this afternoon. She is starting to feel better. I think learning that the lymph nodes were clear really helped. She will still have to have radiation but no chemo.

I do enjoy the challenge when I work but do not want the job full time!! I left work at 3 today so I could attend the annual fish fry sponsored by our boat club. Yesterday they held a fishing tournament and prizes were awarded today. At least I didn't have to worry about cooking supper tonight.

We have had so much rain this much that we are close to breaking a record set in 1961. When we received 9.11 inches of rain. We are at 8.19 inches right now for the month of February.
We have also been getting snow also here off and on. We had a little yesterday and some last night. Didn't stay too long.

We just got through inventory - a 9 hour day. I was so tired that when I got off that I came home ate and fell asleep. Working 8 days in a row then will have 2 days off.

Good news is my son has left Maryland and moved to Calif. Things didn't work out and his Mother would pay for him to go to school like she said she would. Every time he would leave the house she would go through his things and give him the 3rd degree when he'd come home. she treated him as a 2yr old instead of an adult. He decided to go back to Calif. as that is where all his friends are. Both his father and I have a feeling he will end up here soon a
enough. I don't want him to ever have any what if's.

Hope everyone is having a great week and has a great weekend.

Val I love the Oregon coast, especially in the summer months. On the coast it mostly stays cool. My son lives in the Portland area. My favorite out there is their clam chowder-good thing I don't live close-too many calories but I do indulge when we get in the area (like every 10 yrs!!!)

I have gotten thru 3 days at work. I had hoped to only work 4 hours but doing at least 6 to keep things going. I didn't see Sharon at all today. I know she was in a lot of pain when she popped in Tues to check on things. I hate it that I can't work next week for her BUT I already had a bus trip booked and paid for. Not sure how much she is going to be able to do. They did a pretty extensive cut when they removed the cancerous tumor.

I chatted with a former boss on Facebook this afternoon. He's on the Oregon coast now and he told me that I can use him as a reference and also that he would hire me if I apply at his hospital. I'm going to take a look and see what I can find in that area, a change might be nice. emoticon

Val glad to hear you are getting a decent severance package. Good luck in finding a new job in a locale you will enjoy. I love the Colorado Springs area. Flagstaff is nice in the summer but can get really cold in the winter.

I am working this week for Sharon who had surgery for breast cancer yesterday. I wish I could work next week too, but we already had booked a bus trip before she knew when her surgery would be so she is going to try to come back. She is retiring on Apr 1.

Val:

I am surprised to learn that you'll be leaving your current position. Your attitude is wonderful and you surely will find a new job. Your skill is in demand. I wish you lots of luck.

Tomorrow my daughter finds out if she will have a job. There was a restructuring where she works and she had to compete for her own job. No use worrying. What will be will be.

Sending everyone hugs,

Gail, I'm going to have to look online for a recipe for tomato pie. Sounds wonderful.

I'm not sure how much I've told you about what's been going on recently so I'll explain more later if I need to. Tomorrow is the last day that I'll be working, and then I start 7 months of severance pay. I'm going to rest up for a week or two and then really get to going through all of my stuff. Gotta get rid of a lot of it so that I don't have to move it once I've found a new job. I'm going to start by looking in Flagstaff while I'm visiting some friends. Then I'll take a trip to Colorado Springs and maybe to southern Utah. For now I'm going to go to sleep. Everyone have a fantastic weekend. emoticon

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Sandy it is good to hear that things are looking up for you. Hope you aren't washing away with all the rain coming in out there.

Gail sorry your tomato pie didn't live up to expectations. You will just have to try again.

DH is not feeling good - had a bad week and his appointment with the specialist isn't until MAY! Trying to hold things together until then.

I worked in the yard today and did some work in the park. Next week I will be working for Sharon. She is having surgery for her breast cancer on Mon.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone.

I had a marvelous day-worked in the yard most of the morning after walking the dogs and am making good progress on my spring clean-up. I even gave the dogs a bath as it was such a lovely day. (We are dog-sitting again).
Bill sent me the cutest floral arrangement-it looks like a cute puppy in the flowers! He also took me out to a late lunch with friends. I got him a "new to him" chair for our carport. I found it at Habitat last week. I had been pricing them and the cheapest I found was over $100 and I got it for $25!! I am nothing if not frugal.

What a bargain on those tomatoes Gail. Enjoy. I hope they are tasty as I know this time of the year the ones in the grocery usually lack a lot of flavor.

Hope you all had a good Valentines Day. I played some games on my computer and watched some TV. I enjoyed myself immensely.

Yesterday I went to the supermarket for a few things. They had reduced a couple of boxes of mixed tomatoes to $3/ box. I tossed out about 5 but the rest were gorgeous. Today I made tomato gratin...quick, easy and delicious. I also made some tomato soup. There are three large bowls of tomatoes in my dining room. I'm planning on making a tomato pie tomorrow...a real favorite I used to make when I gardened. I'll probably freeze most of them to use for pasta sauce and soup,

Hope you are all doing well.

I have heard that bridge helps to keep one's mind sharp. We had a former resident who played and although she has moved to an assisted living facility in WY now to be close to her daughter, she is still playing bridge there and plays the piano for the residents at least once a week and she is 95!

We are dog sitting for our friends, Vickie & Sonny-we have Bella for 2 weeks. She is a 5 1/2 pound shorkie.

Pat: Glad all is well with your checkups.

Had bridge at my house yesterday. The lady who was supposed to have it fell ill, so they took me up on my offer to host any time. We had a good time, though I must say my partner and I had awful cards. One of our members will be 90 March 18th so we are taking her out for lunch. What a milestone! This lady is sharpe as a tack.

Hope you are all doing well.

Went for my annual mammogram today and all is good. Have an echo scheduled for tomorrow and then I think dr appointments are done for awhile.

We started the day with heavy fog, but by 9:30 it was sunny and we topped out at 79. Beautiful day.

Gail, I'm so sorry to hear of this loss. It never gets any easier to take, does it?

I was going to do the blue hair today but I've been too tired to do much of anything today, so I guess I'll do it tomorrow. Laundry, calling to find out for sure whether I'm going to be hired or should update my resume and look for a job in another state, blue hair. That's my plan for my Monday. I actually kind of hope they do end up hiring me just so that I can have an employee photograph with blue hair. emoticon

Anyway, I'm so exhausted from the goofy hours I've been working recently that I didn't get out of bed until 4:30 this afternoon...and now I'm ready to go back to bed even though it's only a little bit after 10:00. Everybody take care and have a great start to the new week.

There was much rejoicing!

Gail so sorry for the loss of your nephew. No matter how old, it is never easy for those who remain to accept our loss.

Val glad you have took your life off hold. What will be, will be. You are a brave soul to go with all the different colors. I have finally given in to my "natural" frosting and I am liking it. My hairdresser not so much, think she is missing the $$ to keep it colored!!

DH has his appt. with the nephrologist tomorrow morning and I go to have my annual mammogram in the afternoon. I am hoping we are soon done with all the dr appointments!!

How fragile life is and how quickly things can change. A week ago I told you of the wonderful news regarding two of my grandchildren.Yesterday morning I learned that a dear friend lost his father. The man was old and had been ailing for a long time, so his death came as no surprise, but still...

In less than an hour after that call I got another call telling me my nephew died. That was a shock. He would have been 61 March first. This news has blown me away. The worst nightmare for any parent has to be the death of a child.

I got my hair cut on Tuesday and it looks pretty cute. Also got it bleached because I had a really serious case of dark roots, and the combination of the lighter than last time blonde and the cute hair cut looks really good if I do say so myself. Tomorrow or Monday I'm going to dye it blue. (The blonde has really just been a way to get my starting hair color to be light enough that my fun colors will show when I use them.) I'm still waiting to find out whether or not I'm going to be hired by the company that's taking over running the labs at all of the hospitals in town, but I finally decided that I'm not worried enough about that anymore to keep on putting off continuing on with my hair color journey. When I remember I'll post pictures of all of my fun hair colors for all of you to see, but for now it's about bed time. I hope everyone is having a really great weekend.

There was much rejoicing!

Gail when I was younger, I always had at least shoulder length hair and often much longer. In fact when my younger son was about 3 or 4, I went for a haircut and came home pretty short and he took one look at me and said, Are you still a Mommy? I never cut it that short again until we hit the road and I knew it would be difficult to just go anywhere we were for haircuts, etc so went really short and have never looked back. I have baby fine hair and if it is long, I need a body perm to give me some body and then it seems like a lot of work to keep up so, I am a blow and go gal these days!!

It was supposed to have been 75 this afternoon but it was overcast and windy so felt much cooler to us. I had to wear a sweat coat when I walked this morning.

Oh, Pat, I've been letting my hair grow and it hasn't been flattering, but it hasn't been too bad....until yesterday. For the first time this winter I've got the static electricity thing going and most of the day it looks like I put my finger in an electrical socket! Waiting till it gets a bit longer so I can put it into a bun.
