Val do pray that all works out for you. Think positive until you know otherwise! I always say no need to worry until it is fact and then one just has to deal with whatever it is! Most times we worry for no reason.

We are having several days of below average temps. Most of Jan. was above average so now we are really feeling the cold even though it gets up into the 50's. We are down in the low 40's at night but no frost so far.

I have to go for a stress test on Wed. Not looking forward to it but will be glad to get it behind me. DH has to go for bloodwork in the morning and Wed will be a zoo for us. He has an appt. with his pulmonary doc early, my test and then he has to see his urologist. No grass will grow under our feet and hoping I have no problem with the stress test.

Well tomorrow is going to be 2 weeks since the day I had my interview. I still have not heard whether or not they are going to hire me or where they will be assigning me to work if they do hire me. I've heard rumors that all of the spots at my hospital are filled, which is making me nervous that they will send me to the Downtown hospital, which is very short staffed and definitely NOT where I want to work for a number of reasons. But I have also heard that the new company doesn't want to break up teams that work well, and ours works together better than most of the other sites in the system because we've been without a boss so much of the time over the last 8 to 10 years and so we've had to become a team in order to get things done. I really am worried that they will send me to the downtown hospital, in which case I will have to start looking for jobs in other states. I'm really trying not to worry about all of it too much, but the longer they take to give me a decision, the harder that gets...

Last night I worked the last of the Saturday graveyard shifts I had agreed to work, and it was absolutely the worst, busiest shift I have ever worked at this hospital. Like a full moon, Friday the 13th and April Fool's Day all rolled up into one ugly package.
I have no idea what the heck was up, but I'm definitely glad that it's over and that I'm not scheduled for any more graveyard shifts at the moment...hopefully ever. But we made it through and then I came home, slept for 7 or 8 hours, and then got up to pick up packages before the apartment office closed and get a hamburger from across the road to eat for dinner. Not the healthiest meal ever, but at least I didn't have to cook it myself. (I think I would have just skipped eating today if I'd had to cook...)

Anyway, that's enough complaining for right now. Things are really not to bad for me right now, only problem at the moment is that I'm exhausted. But I'm going to go to bed really early tonight and hopefully I'll feel better and get some chores taken care of tomorrow. I need to do laundry, take out the trash, and clean both bathrooms. Probably a few more things that I'm too tired to think of right now. I hope that you've all had a great weekend and that the new week starts out well for you. Talk to all of you again soon.

There was much rejoicing!

Sandy do hope you can figure out how to manage all of this. Having been a small business owner, we know how hard it is to stay afloat.

Gail what wonderful news. I am sure you did a little happy dance. Hope you don't get too sore from the shoveling.

Took DH for bloodwork after my walk and the poor guy has to go again Mon. He forgot and ate so wasn't fasting so couldn't do both orders. He needed his PSA test for his appt. next Wed. and he sees his nephrologist a week from Mon and needs bloodwork for that also.

We had a luncheon today - one of our Canadian friends is visiting her DD so several of us who used to camp with she & her late DH got together at Olive Garden and had a great time visiting for a couple of hours.

OMG! What a day. I learned that my oldest grandchild got engaged and my youngest was accepted to UNC Chapel Hill. It's been a long time since I had so much wonderful news in one day.

There was some snow Wednesday night after the kids shoveled. I decided to take care of it myself. I pushed the snow and then heaved it. The whole thing lasted about 1-1.25 hours. I did work up a sweat, but not too much. As soon as I came in I took two ibuprofen because I knew I'd feel it in my biceps. Am just a tad sore today, nothing major. Two tylenol did the trick.

G.

Sandy: My thoughts are with you. I hope things turn around very soon.

I have been busy with work again. The business is not doing well to the point that I have gone broke and not sure how I am going to pay the property tax this year. Plus pay bills. This is another reason why I have not been writing much. DH has been looking for work since he got laid off and it has been hard. I am hanging in there and hoping that things will turn around.

Gail: I Put a Picture of the coat on my page.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Thanks Gail.

Another full day on our end. Breakfast with our Thur. group. Then we went to the Farmer's Market and finally to our friends for a late lunch and to play cards. By the time we got home it was dark. Luckily I got in a couple of hours walking at the market and came home with lots of fresh veggies.

It is played with double twelve dominoes. The directions usually come in the case with the dominoes. We also play chicken foot with the same dominoes. Lots of fun for up to 6 players.

Went to my cardiologist today and he wasn't happy with some things so now scheduled for a stress test and echo next week. Hoping it is nothing but do have a family history of heart disease so better safe than sorry

Gail I have been visiting all the thrift stores but so far haven't found what I am looking for but I know if I am patient I will eventually find something that fits.

We had serious storms move thru yesterday evening. We had wind gusts up to 60 MPH, heavy rain and hail. We put up everything that we felt could blow away and took our flags down. Several sections of fencing between our community and the neighboring one blew down.

This afternoon we went to play Mexican train with the couple renting the home across the street from us. Bill & I actually won the game by 1 point.

Good Morning:

Well, my DIL slept over last night and she will be here again tonight. Helping her sister is taking its toll on her. It appears she has the weight of the world on her shoulders and she doesn't deserve this. I'm doing whatever I can for her but it's precious little. Caring for family members can be so difficult.

Gail

Pat: Good luck with the pictures. Have you thought of the thrift shops? If you can find what you like they are very reasonable.

Val: I too am glad your interview is over. Hope you hear from them soon.

Sandy: Wow! What a deal on that coat. What does it look like and what's the color? Can you post a photo?

Val, glad to hear the interview is behind you and hope they put you out of the suspense soon. It seems that the rain is really hitting hard in the western states. I am hoping that it will help ease the drought conditions. One doesn't like to get it all at once though. My cousin in the Phoenix area says she can't remember when it has been this rainy in the winter and they have been out there about 20 yrs. We could use some rain-it has been a very dry winter for us. However they are calling for severe storms tomorrow and I imagine we will get some rain with that. I am praying the storms hold off until we get home from church - Abbie does not do well when it storms.

The community yard sales have started again and we took in 3 today. I am looking for new pictures for our bedroom but no luck so far.

Hi everyone, just stopping by to say hello and let you all know that I'm still alive and kicking. It's been cold and rainy here. I love the rain but I'd like for it to be a little bit warmer...I had my job interview on Monday. Haven't heard anything back yet so I'm still a little bit nervous, but I think they'll hire me in the end. Anyway, I really need to get to bed now but I'll try to stop by over the weekend to catch up on messages in the group. Hope you all have a great weekend. emoticon

Pat - How is your son doing now? They were at a stand still in Portland and had to call in extra Snow machines in to help them. Hope things are better for him now.

We are starting to get out of our cold freeze. We were at 25 Degrees this morning when I went to work at 7AM. By Noon when I got off it was 42. The highest we get this week 50. But, it is the windy chilly that makes even colder. I got myself a nice winter cold this year that I have eyed since last year. I told myself that if we got them in this year and when they went on sale and if they still had my size I was going to get one. Well, I had a 30% off coupon plus $ 10.00 off plus $ 20.00 gift card and then my employee discount and it was 50% = $12.76 Jacket that was $120.00.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Gail it is a relief when your power lines are buried. We have done that in our community and now when a hurricane comes in, we don't have that worry. However if the main lines come down we will still lose power.

Another beautiful day in the south. High of 79. We are supposed to be around 80 for the next week. We have had a mild winter so far. January is normally our coldest month. I just hope this doesn't indicate it is going to be a long hot summer.

Though I live in the midwest, we are just slightly north of the ice storm. I understand another is just behind it. I hope we escape it as well. Thankfully, in my immediate area all the power lines are under ground. Whew! It's cold here (13F) but that's it. Gong to run some errands today.

Sending my best to all.

Sandy my son works out of Portland and couldn't get up in the mountains one day but posted pics from yesterday-it was majestic up there-it looked like he could reach up and touch the clouds!

We are having perfect weather-about 58 at night and 78-80 during the day. I could handle this for several months to make up for the heat of summer.

If anyone is being affected by the epic ice storm please stay safe.

No, this is not normal for us. We do get cool temps this time of year but, not to the point where the ground is frozen like this. We have had more snow here at the house this year than the last 4. Portland, Or. was hit with epic snow fall of 15" of snow in 2 days and it is still coming down. The city is shut down. I hate running the heater but, we keep it at 60 at night and when we are gone. When we are home we have it set at 66. The house stays pretty warm. At this point I am just layering when I go to work or anywhere.

Have a great week and stay warm.

Sandy that is cold. You don't usually have weather this cold do you?

We are back into the 70's. Loving it. It was perfect walking weather this morning-I even had to tie my jacket around my waist. I got more windows washed today as well as our car.

To tell you how cold it is. DH tried to install a post at 10 AM this morning and the ground was Frozen. The pick just bounded off the ground. we have called all the clients and informed them that their will go in as soon as the ground will allow us to. Which looks like Friday.

Hope everyone is having a great week.

We have been in a deep freeze here. It has been in the teen in the morning and just above freezing in the afternoon. The highest it gets this week is 40 and that is tomorrow. We are expecting snow over night and into the morning. Then rain for the afternoon. I have the week off till Friday and all I have done is sleep, clean and get my Business taxes and personnel taxes done. Finish the books today so, it is just getting everything together to mail off. Tomorrow I will work on mine. Business didn't do well this year. But, it is starting out better than last year right now. We will see how things go. It may be time to really think about selling the business. When you start losing - money it is time. Otherwise things are good. Kohl's is slow right now. There were no truck deliveries this week but, one is coming next week. So, I will be working.

Hope everyone has a great week.

We had big thunderstorms during the night-we got over 2 inches of rain which is more than we have had in the past 3 months together-and that meant we didn't get much sleep as Abbie kept us awake. She is so scared when it thunders and boy did we have some big boomers! It rattled the walls enough that it knocked our clock off the wall!!
I brought my plants in as we are supposed to get down to 37 tonight but wind chill will make it feel like 29. However by Tues we are supposed to be back up to 75 so guess we can tough it out for 2 days.

Good Morning:

It's been very cold here with wind chills down to the minus teens. In the next few days we should reach normal temps for this time of year. It will fell like a heat wave.

OK, so here's what I've been doing every day so far this month. I've been using hand cream several times a day. It is something that I usually neglect to do in winter. BTW, if you are traveling by air, forgo the hand cream till you get past security. One time I used Avon hand cream in winter before I went to the airport. When I went through security they wiped my palms with some paper and put it under a light. Every bell and whistle in the place went off. I was thoroughly patted down and EVERYTHING I was carrying was checked. It seem there is an ingredient in that hand cream that is used to make explosives!

My dil is in WI taking care of her sister. Monday and Tuesday she will be coming here to spend some time with me. Love her so much and am looking forward to spending time with her.

Hope you are all happy and well.

Stay safe.

Gail

cholesterol 166
triglycerides 123

I was especially happy with the triglycerides-that is over 150 point drop in the last 8 mo. I am now in the normal range! I even lost 1 lb. Considering we have just come thru the holidays I will take a loss no matter how small!!!

Working hard to the start of the New Year. We are in a Arctic Freeze right now. Our high today was 31 but felt like 24. Our low this morning was 25. Tomorrow's high is 25 and the low is 21. This is the way our next couple of weeks are to go. We are to get more snow at week's end. Work is keeping me busy.

Have a great 1st week to 2017!
