Sandy happy you got a chance to relax and will get rewarded with OT for working tomorrow.
Thanks for letting us know Daddy's Girl is ok.

I have a lot to do tomorrow to get prepared for working for the next month. After church today, we went out for lunch and then Vickie & I spent nearly 2 hours at the pool this afternoon. Ah, so relaxing. I am going to have to do a lot more of that!

Gail - I had today off also as I am working Memorial day. Which means I get time and a half. I will be working my long shift 6:30 am to 3pm.

We have nothing planned for Memorial day except to relax. The guys have Monday with my business but, it is back to work Tuesday.

Have a great Memorial Day and remember our Vet's and Military. emoticon

Nan - Glad that you will be spend time with family.

Pat - Sounds like things are heating up your way.

Gail - You sound like you have been busy.

I wanted to let you all know that I heard from Daddy's Girl and she is fine. She has been busy getting ready for her Son's wedding. Said she to tell all of you "Hello" and she will be back soon and she misses all of you. I told her I was about to send out a search party for her.

I had two days off in a row and I relaxed and slept most of the time. I really needed the two days off. They did try to call me in on Friday but, I didn't answer my phone.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Ah, Gail I said no more pulling weeds in the hot summer sun. I don't mind working the office - a/c in there and I only do 4 hrs 3-4 days a week.
Our social club is sponsoring a Memorial Day dinner so I went to the market today and got some fresh tomatoes which I plan to take to the dinner. Thought they were a healthy side.

Ah, that salmon sounds delish Gail. I think we all need little splurges from time to time.

I ended up having to work today-Sharon's DH is having issues with his knee so they spent the morning at the dr so I worked 8-12 and went back 1-2 to go over things with her. I will take the reins on Tues as they hope her DH is well enough to go back to ILL for June. He is scheduled for knee surgery in July when they return.

Good Morning:

In the midwest it is very hard to get fresh, wild caught seafood unless you pay and arm, a leg and a pint of blood. There is a high end supermarket near me that has a sale once a week. Even with the sale the prices are in the stratosphere. However, since I hardly go out for a meal or entertainment, I figure it's all right for me to splurge once a week. This week they had fresh wild caught king salmon. I've had it before and it is wonderful. Anyway, I got a piece yesterday and it was lovely. Also, it's a very healthy choice. Ah, life's little pleasures.

Tomorrow a Spark friend from my town is coming over for lunch. I haven't seen her in a few years and I'll be happy to have the visit with her as she is a thoughtful, sweet person.

Nothing planned for the Memorial Day weekend. What about you?

Sending good energy to you all,

Gail

Pat: My gum was still sore yesterday but some ibuprofen took care of it. Not so bad.

I am glad that you had no problem with the crown. When I had to have one, the medicine they shot in my gums I was evidently allergic to and my face swelled up - what fun. That was years ago and who knows if the do it the same now but I am taking no chances.
More walking this morning. We are going out to celebrate Bob's & Vickie's birthday tonight. I did some gardening but finally got to hot out there so called it a day for that about noon. Vickie found some gecko eggs so now we have one in a clear plastic container waiting to see if it will hatch.

Everything went so well yesterday. Initially it was thought I'd need two crowns and possibly two root canals. As it turned out, the endodontist thought my roots were alive and kicking and that I probably wouldn't need a root canal for either tooth. The prosthodontist that I saw yesterday told me one tooth was cracked. That tooth needed a crown because of the crack. He told me the other tooth was fine and had no decay; It was just an illusion on the X-ray. So, he put on a temporary crown on the cracked tooth and I go back in a few weeks for the permanent crown. Even with my insurance, it will run over $600, probably closer to $700. BTW, if any of you ever need a crown, it doesn't hurt at all. The worst thing for me at the dentist are the X-rays; I'm an awful gagger.

The young woman who was weeding for me came back yesterday afternoon and finished all the weeding. I cannot believe it. Everything looks great. I'll wait a bit, but I don't think I'll need anyone in June as was planned. All the weeding cost me 4 1/2 hours. No problem since I have about 200 in my account at the Timebank.

Got my 6 month dental check-up/cleaning scheduled today. It's good to have all this taken care of.

Hope your day goes very well.

Yikes Gail-hoping all goes well with the crown. Ah, to have someone come in to do the weeding. I pulled a few today-that is a problem for me, I hear them calling as I walk, "pull me, pull me!!" Of course I have to oblige and pull a few-hoping that keeps them from getting ahead of me!!!
I walked early while Bill went down for his coffee and donuts but got him and Abbie to walk a round after he got home.
I took Ellie and 2 of Bob's cousins out to "thrift store" shop today. One bought a home in here and the other is visiting her. While we were shopping the men went out on Bob's pontoon. Bill didn't accompany them for that. Everyone found some treasures-me included. The bird bath I had made for Abbie's Aunt Barb was broken by her DH so I bought a piece to use in replacing it. Now I need to find a pink plate!

Good Morning:

Off to the dentist today to have a crown replacement. Actually, I need two crowns; one is scheduled for early June. Tomorrow I have my biannual dental cleaning. No, it's not the greatest way to spend the day but I feel very fortunate that at my age I have all my teeth.

The young lady from the Timebank came by yesterday to weed some more and she'll be coming again today. She's working around the house and got the front and one of the sides done.

The weather has been great and I'm looking forward to another great day.

Sending you all hugs,

Gail

Vali - Heard that Janet Jackson had cancel some of her show now that she is expecting. That is too bad. But, glad you have an extra day to do something.

Pat - Glad that you are OK and the roof was fixed so quickly.

Gail - glad to see you are doing well.

I am trying to get use to the morning schedule again. Have been coming home and taking a nap after work every day.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Val enjoy that extra day off. A haircut always makes one feel better. Sorry you didn't get to see Janet Jackson. Bummer!!

Gail that massage sounds wonderful. We used to have a lady come to give them at the gym I went to and I would try to sign up for a 30 min one once a month. Miss that as she was reasonably priced. Hope you have a great belated birthday lunch.

After church today, we came home for a bit and then went to visit our friend who had the major heart surgery as he is now in rehab. However, the facility he is in is about 45 min from us so this is the 1st time we he gone. He is hoping to get to come home this week.

My arm is giving me problems again today so didn't do a lot.

Good Morning:

Pat: So happy for you that the roof is taken care of and your neighbor was able to repair it for you. What a blessing.

Val: It's a joy to have beautiful weather and it surely does lift the spirits. It was beautiful here yesterday and it will be again today. Woo Hoo!

I had a 90 minute massage yesterday and it was great. Today some friends are taking me out for a bleated birthday lunch to a favorite restaurant.

Sending you all good wishes for a beautiful Sunday.

I'm glad that your roof was so easily fixed. I'm also glad that my work week is finally over. emoticon I'm taking Tuesday off. I had originally asked for the day off so that I could go see Janet Jackson in concert with a bunch of my friends from work, but she's not coming here after all. (Long story) I decided to take the day off anyway and my plan now is to get my hair cut in the afternoon. I've needed to get a haircut for a while, kinda getting shaggy these days. emoticon So that's my big plan for my extra day off.

Our weather recently has been absolutely gorgeous. I love springtime in New Mexico. If only it could stay like this for the whole summer, too...

I hope that you're all having a really great weekend. I'm planning on doing nothing much in particular for the next 3 days. Laundry, vacuum the apartment and get my hair cut. I think I can handle all of that. emoticon I'll let you know how it went in a few days...

There was much rejoicing!

Kenny had it fixed for us by 8:30 this morning. Nice to have great neighbors. He didn't want paid so DH gave him $20 and told him that would pay for Golden Corral today (they go every Sat for lunch!). I had actually gone for a walk with Abbie and he was working when I got home. We went to the farmer's market after that-took our friends and they enjoyed it. Bob has trouble walking-bad knees and very overweight so this was a good one to take him to-only have vendors around the town square.

The strong winds and heavy rain left us with roof damage today. Guess we will find out how bad it is tomorrow. A neighbor alerted us to the damage and is going to look at it for us tomorrow. Hoping we can screw the metal roof back down. Luckily it was just over our front porch so no damage inside.

Next week schedule is back to days. I am hoping it stays that way. Off today just taking it easy and resting. It is rainy and cooler this week here . Last week it was in the high 80's. I like it when it is in the low 70's.

Hope that everyone has a great weekend.

Val nice to hear from you. Do hope your meds kick in soon where you can be in a happy place more often. Hard to function when one is depressed.

Gail it sounds like lots of benefits to belonging to the time bank. Wonderful thing.

We took Abbie to get her shots updated yesterday. Today I did yardwork - some for my neighbor who lost her DH a few wks ago. Not sure if she will keep the house here or not-they live in OH. I also hauled off a load from home. I returned the borrowed wheelbarrow. Had to walk it down a couple of blocks.

I have been working on my ironing this afternoon. DH did laundry. We are trying to have things caught up before I start work.

Val: So sorry to hear you are in a funk and hope that the new meds help. I'll be sending you lots of positive energy, so be on the lookout.

Well, the young lady from the TimeBank came by yesterday and started weeding the flower beds. She was here for about an hour. She's coming again today. Also, some others are coming on June 9th. I went on line yesterday and noted that we have a new member who is a licensed massage therapist. I'll be going to her tomorrow for a 90 minute massage. Today I'll be getting some hours orienting a new member.

Last night my neighbor's daughter called to let me know her mom passed away on Wednesday. This woman has been a caregiver to her mom and dad for years. Her dad is in his 90s and hasn't been well for a long time. Additionally, her husband has post traumatic stress from Vietnam, and she has an autistic grandson. Some people just can't catch a break.

My neighbor's death has put me in touch again with my mortality. For a long time now I've been meaning to make a list of where things are and what I have. I"ve got to get started with that. I went through hell after Vic died and I don't want my kids to have to go through that with me.

Hope everyone is doing all right.

Gail

This group has been too quiet this week so I thought I'd just drop in for a moment and say hi. I've been busy with work and with trying to get my new place organized. I've been taking an antidepressant for a week or two and I'm starting to feel a little bit better. I'm still depressed but I think I'm coping with my life better and even feeling happy once in a while. emoticon Hopefully with some more time I'll be able to get out of this depression and be a more or less normal person...whatever that is. emoticon I hope that things are going well for all of you and I'll try to communicate more frequently in the future, but for now I need to get off the computer and get to bed because I worked last tonight so I got online later than usual. Don't want to be up on the computer all night long...I hope everyone has a fabulous Friday. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

Sandy it is hard to adjust when you work all different hours-I used to work for Delta Airlines many yrs ago and it really messed me up with all the switching of hours. Hope one of these days you can get on a more regular schedule.

I was up to walk by 6:30 today so I could be ready for church by 9. Made it by the skin of my teeth!! We had a full class today and every week someone volunteers to bring in something so had a small piece of a breakfast casserole as we knew we were going out to eat after church.
We have had a gift card for almost a year so wanted to work on it-it is for $50 so used about half of it today. It isn't our favorite place so won't rush back.

I spent almost 2 hours at the pool this afternoon-going to have to do more of that this summer-less work and more fun!!

Been working some crazy hours lately. I will work one day in the morning and next 2 days I will work nights and then be off. Then I will work 2 day shifts , then 2 - 3 night shifts and then off. So, my sleep habits are totally off. I had them all dialed in when I was working days. I have been keeping up with everything going on here.

Hope everyone having a great weekend. emoticon

I wish we had something like that around here.

Today I went to the Farmer's Market in the next town. They have more vendors than what we have here and I picked up some nice veggies. The tomatoes were organic and we had one for lunch and it was delicious. Sorry I only bought 3 now.

Val it is so nice that you are enjoying your new apartment and emoticon real a/c for you when it gets hot!!!

Gail that is awesome that you have a lady coming from the time bank to take care of those dratted weeds. I fight them year round here and yes we mulch but.....weeds can make it no matter what. I put Preen on all the beds after we cleaned them and they aren't as plentiful as in other years but still pop up!!

I have been working on completing some projects I had "hanging out" for several months. It will be good to get them out of our shed.

We are going to dinner this evening with a number of folks from our Sunday school class this evening and plan to go to the Farmer's Market tomorrow morning.

Oh, Val, I'm so happy for you. I can't imagine living without air conditioning in your area. It can get very hot there in summer, close to 100, no?

I may have mentioned that I only have perennials around my house. They are VERY low maintenance. Though the front is heavily mulched and the back has stones, every now and again a weed pops up or a seedling from a tree gets implanted in the beds. I can't weed anymore, so I put out a WANTED request in the time bank a few days ago. Lucky me, a lady from the next town over is coming to weed for me on Sunday. I'm so excited about this and very grateful.

Our weather has been beautiful recently. Not too warm, not too cool, just lovely. Not sure how much longer that's going to last, but I'll take it while it's here...and when it's over, I'll be living in an apartment with honest to goodness air conditioning for the first time ever. emoticon

I hope the week has been good for the rest of you and that you all have some fun plans for the weekend. I've got another couple of days to work and then I've got plans for things that I need to get done around the apartment this weekend. It's kind of fun to work on getting this place organized the way I really want it to be. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

No rain down here and growing hotter each day and more humid-I guess the cool down is over for us.
After walking and doing some gardening this morning, I got cleaned up and about 11 I headed out with 3 friends for a girl's day out. We didn't get home till almost 5 but had a nice time and a good lunch. The others found some things they wanted but I only bought things for the park.

We had a wonderful Sunday-we mother's were treated royally at church-they even had photo booths to take pics with our family, flowers and the children treated us to a special song. In the mid-afternoon we went out to eat with friends so a great day and had calls from 2 of our kids and texts from 2 more and some of the GK's.
Today I walked very early so I had time to spend in the office to refresh my memory on doing payroll. Sharon will be leaving the end of May and I will fill in for her the month of June and everyone wants to get paid!!
Going with some friends here in our community tonight-they have been participating in a trivia challenge at a pub so we are going to check it out. Wonder if I can remember anything-I do good on Jeopardy questions but.....who knows!!

It WAS a beautiful day yesterday.. All my kids called me to wish me Happy Mother's Day..had lots of calls from friends as well. Enjoyed the DO NOTHING day. Hung the drapes in my freshly painted living room.. and cooked up a frozen pizza for a late lunch/early dinner. Mozzarella and Pesto with fresh sliced tomatoes.

I got in a lot of steps walking around the neighborhood visiting and even stopping to play a little 'socker' with one of the neighborhood boys..(he was outside with his Grandma and her shoulder is in a sling) We had great fun and it reminded me of playing with my own boys..It was good.

Good Morning:

It was a glorious day yesterday. I read outside and then went for a short walk. In celebration of Mother's Day I made myself a pizza. My grandson, my son and my daughter call me yesterday and it was good to hear from them. We are celebrating Mother's Day next weekend.

Val it was nice to hear from you and so happy you and Cali cat are enjoying the new apartment.. Before long you will get it organized and hopefully have more time to enjoy it.

Sandy glad to hear the business is doing well. Hope you were able to go home and get some rest before having to report that night. Guess you were doing close! I had a friend who took her mom to the dr on the wrong day.

Bill's arm is improving-guess the shot is starting to work. However he had acid reflux for the 1st time in months last night. He has had some gluten so I am wondering if that triggered it.
We are enjoying another beautiful day but tomorrow will be near 90 so guess it is going to end. It was only 78 today.

Gail - The business is doing great and keeping busy. I am keeping the it for now as it helps with paying the bills. I am hoping to get full time here soon also.

Well, here is a good one for you that will make you laugh. So, I have been working days now for some time. I got my schedule and looked at and I thought it said 8am - 12pm. I got up and went to work. Just before I was to clock in I just happen to look at the schedule on the board it said 8pm to 12am. I just about died. I went to the Manager on duty and told her I was going home. She said what? I told her to look at the schedule. She just looked at me and stated laughing and said see you tonight. emoticon

Hope everyone has a great day!

Val: I am over the moon for you and I know just how you feel. Since I decluttered my home and gave it a face lift I have been so happy. Enjoy every minute. I know you said your rent is higher but you cannot always put a $ on the price of happiness. Even if you have to bull in your belt on other items you will find this is worth it.

Sandy: Hope a FT job turns up very soon. What is happening with your business? Are you keeping it or selling it? How is your son doing?

Pat: How is Bill doing?

TLL: What have you been up to?

I'm sorry I haven't said anything much recently. I know that you all get worried when I'm not around for a while, and I love you all for that. emoticon I don't have a lot of time right now because I'm exhausted and need to get to bed, but I wanted to let you all know that I'm absolutely loving my new apartment. I've still got some boxes to unpack and some organizing to do, but I think it's all going to work out well and that Cali Cat and I are going to be very happy here. And now...it's bedtime. I hope you all have a fantastic weekend.

There was much rejoicing!

Sandy are getting a couple of days off and relaxing some. Gardening can wear you out for sure. Looks like you have been warm again.
We were about 15 degrees cooler than normal this morning-58 when I got up! I walked and then worked in the park gardens for about 90 min and then came home to work in my yard. I was spraying weed-b-gone on the yard when a black snake suddenly appeared in the grass. Poor thing got a dose of weed killer!!! He quickly slithered away but now I will have my eyes open when I am in that area. I used to have a black snake there several years ago but haven't seen it in ages. Not sure if this was the same one or another one. I know it isn't dangerous, just don't like it to startle me.

Sandy happy that they think you are doing a good job and hope that you get that training so you can get the job. Enjoy your time off.
I had another appointment at the podiatrist today and she worked my toes over good. Afterwards we went to Old Time Pottery and I got some things for the park, a birdhouse, a patriotic flag and a wreath for the clubhouse. I also got a cute turtle birdhouse for Barb for keeping Abbie.
The cold front arrived early this morning-lots of thunder and lightning and scared our little Abbie so she had us up at 5 am. More heavy rain and thunder this evening but now cooler temps-high of 78 today and should be really nice the next 2-3 days before we warm back up.

Sorry I have not written but , I am on day 9 of working. I work tonight at 6:30pm and then I am off for 2 days. I didn't get the position that I applied for as I need some training in a couple more areas. But, the next position that opens up I will get that position. So, I was pleased with the way things turned out. The manage that interviewed me let me know that I am doing a great job.

Hope that everyone is having a great week.

That is a lot of onion chopping TLL but I bet the soup will be yummy.

I got out early to walk and was later joined by DH and Abbie. After fixing breakfast and giving Abbie a bath, I worked in the park gardens for almost 2 hours but have everything "whipped" into shape by our office, clubhouse and pool areas. I even got super bloom mixed up and put on the roses down there. They are blooming but would love to get them just full of blooms.

I think I am going to head to the pool for a bit-need to get in that habit now that it is getting so hot.

Started out nice and sunny today but now it's overcast. Hope the sun peeks out again.

Got to mention something. The more I am listening to Italian opera, the more more my mind is adjusting back to Italian. Had no problem reading wikipedia in Italian the other day. Should start reading in Italian out loud. That really helps with spoken fluency.

Sending everyone good wishes for a happy day.

Val sounds like some great goals-just being more interactive with others should do a lot for your depression. Happy you have a nice kitchen and hope that inspires you to do more cooking. Remember-baby steps and build from that.

I have been walking but want to hit my 10K at least 4-5 days per week. I also want to do more cooking at home-have been buying fresh veggies so plan to use more "real" food and try to slowly eliminate most processed foods. Hoping that will help with lowering my triglycerides and be good for DH.

Val: You have so much on your plate, and having to cope with a full time job and some physical ailments doesn't make things easy. Please be gentle with yourself and aim for small goals, ones that you can achieve. For example, setting a goal of 19 minutes of walking a day might be a good start.

When I was still decluttering on difficult days I would just told myself to go through about 12-18 inches of the clothes on the rack in the closet. I found after I did that I had enough stamina to do a bit more. Thought I would share this.

I have a few goals for this month already. The first one is an obvious one...I've still got a lot of boxes to unpack now that I've finished moving. I'm going to take my time with that because I want to get rid of a bunch of stuff while I'm unpacking. I'll probably throw out some things I should have just gone ahead and thrown away while I was packing for my move, I just didn't manage to do it beforehand because I was so sick for 2 or 3 weeks when I had just started trying to pack my stuff. emoticon

Most of my other goals have to do with finally starting to deal with my depression. I need to get out of my apartment and try to start interacting with people a bit more again. I haven't been active in a church for many years and I'd like to find a church that I'll feel comfortable with. I don't know if I'll start on that this weekend because I've been so tired and kind of need to get some rest this weekend, which is kind of an excuse but will probably stand. But by next weekend I want to start going to a church that a high school friend of mine recommended to me a while back. I also need to start doing some of the things that used to bring me joy again, and the ones I'm planning on starting out with are playing my violin and making jewelry.

Another thing I need to try to do is to start getting at least a little bit of exercise in again. That would be helpful for both my depression and my weight loss goals. This apartment complex has a little exercise room that has a treadmill and a few machines that I don't really know how to use. My friend Caroline is going to help me learn to use them at some point in time, but for now I'm going to try to use the treadmill at least a couple of times a week.

And the final thing I want to do is to start cooking for myself more often. I've got a halfway decent kitchen in this apartment and I want to try to use it. I need to do some grocery shopping first, of course, and I'm going to do that on Monday after my appointment with my counselor. Then I'll try to fix something that I can take to work for my dinners for a few days.

So not necessarily the most ambitious goals ever, but at least it's a start on my attempt at having a better quality of life again. That was something my first husband was always trying to help me achieve when he was alive and I think that he would be pleased that I'm finally trying to get back on track with that again. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!
