I just saw on TV that you can freeze whole limes, lemons and oranges. When you want to use them set them on the counter, Can be sliced or used for the zest...try 1 and see?

I feel like a wealthy person... here is why...

I have always wanted to buy lemons for my iced tea but could never afford them. Around here, they are basically $1.00 for one lemon. I look at them in envy.

Well, this past week, the grocery store near me had a clearance sale on lemons!!!!! A bag with 5 lemons in each bag for $1.00!!!!! I went wild!!!!! I bought 4 bags!!!!! So, then I sliced them up and placed most in the freezer and some in the fridge. I finally got my lemons!!!!! God is good.

Now I can have my iced tea with lemon and feel like a million bucks.

DG so happy to hear from you. I bet those little ones do keep everyone hopping. We got to see a cute baby today-friends have their GD visiting and she has a 4 yr old son and a 4 wk of little one. Abbie enjoyed playing with the 4 yr old and really wanted to see the baby.

We have had a lovely day-sunny this morning-a bit nippy as we started out at 45 but supposed to hit 70 or so this afternoon. We went to one community yard sale and I picked up a couple of fall "straw people" to use when we decorate the park.

Hi Ladies just a quick pop in to say Hi! Baby is 2 weeks old and big brother is 14 mths. They keep us busy and filled with smiles. I hope to be back soon. DS is probably moving at the end of the month so that is going to make life hectic again. It is bound to slow down!
Hugs to you all!

Sandy do hope you are feeling better soon-glad you have a couple of days to relax.

Gail doesn't a new do always lift the spirits-especially in the middle of winter.

Val how are things going for you? Hope you are doing ok-guess you should be getting your weekend soon.

We went out with some friends today and visited a few thrift stores and I picked up a couple of Christmas cookie jars to use in the park decorations and a birdhouse to replace one of the wooden ones that has fallen apart. We had a nice lunch at Longhorn.

Good Morning:

Had my hair cut and tinted yesterday. That always gives me a lift. Today I have the annual mammogram and then will head for Aldi's. They have chicken legs on sale for 49 cents a pound. haven't seen that price in decades. I figure I'll get a packet or two and put it in the freezer.

Sandy: Hope you get well very soon. Bummer when you have to work when you're ill.

It must have been a bug-only lasted 24 hours, I had a good checkup yesterday at my cardiologist-my annual visit.
I have been working on cleaning out my computer hutch and have it mostly done-now to figure out what to do with my printer-I was thinking of moving it to my dining room hutch but no phone line there so thinking now I will get a small cabinet to use and keep it where the big cabinet currently is.
Foggy day here-the more the day progresses, the foggier it gets.

We had frost on the grass this morning and the car windows had a thin layer of ice on them. However, it has warmed up - beautiful sunny day and high of 67. Vickie & I made a trip to Wal-Mart and Aldi this morning and then went thru the park gardens when we got home and maked plants to be removed by our maintenance man.
I haven't felt great today-the Big D stuck me-usually it is DH who gets this. I only had yogurt for breakfast so not sure what is going on. Hoping this is just a brief issue!

Good Morning:

Hope those of you who had snow are warm, safe and snug. No weather problems here at all and in fact, it's warmed up some. Go figure...

I've been reading Elizabeth George and Michele Guittari mysteries for the last several days. Great enjoyment. These authors are very creative and show a good deal of insight into the personalities of the characters they created. I have to wonder if their characters are modeled after someone they know, or even of themselves. The main characters appear in all the books in the series, and after a while it's like reading about the experiences and revelations of someone I know. It's as though the characters become my friends. Amazing, no?

Sending hugs to you all,

G.

I've been buying my dinner from the hospital's cafeteria too frequently lately. I need to start cooking at home more. it would certainly be a lot healthier for me. Not that the hospital's cafeteria is that unhealthy, but I need to do more of my own cooking so that I can be in control of how much salt is in my food. Only problem is that I really hate to cook...

There was much rejoicing!

We had something a bit different today-instead of going out to eat, we stayed at church for the chili cook-off. In addition to serving us chili, they had hot dogs, potato salad and coleslaw. It was well attended and had the gymnasium full. I have to commend them as they had several serving lines so no one had to wait long to be served.
A little warmer this afternoon and we will possibly hit 70 tomorrow. Now that is more to my liking

I had a much better day at work on Saturday and now I can rest for a couple of days. Hooray! On Monday I want to go back to the apartment complex Mom and I looked at when she was here in October to let them know that I'm still interested and see if there's a possibility of them having an apartment available when I want to move. Then I'll do my weekly shopping and a little big of housework and laundry. That's about as ambitious as I care to get right now...

I hope that you're all surviving this huge storm that's been hitting the other side of the country. We're getting a bit of cold from it, but nothing like what's happening back east. It's great weather for homemade soup. Everyone stay warm and have a great Sunday.

There was much rejoicing!

Val hope that next week is better for you. Sounds like quite a day for sure. Enjoy the weekend.

The cold front moved in here and our wind chill is putting us down about 34 today and we will have to cover the plants tonight and even bring some in! We will have this to deal with for a couple of days before it warms up a tad and then another cold front breezes in!!

It's wonderful to live around people who will take care of you in your time of need. Makes life a lot more enjoyable.

I had a real pain in the fanny kind of day at work, but at least I've only got one more day in my work week. We've been having issues with both of our chemistry analyzers for a while. That is NOT one of my two good departments, but today it was my turn to work in Chemistry and I did not have a very nice time. At first I was running specimens on the second machine while service worked on the first one. Unfortunately the second analyzer had some issues so we couldn't do some of the tests on it and had to send them to another lab in our system. Then when they got the first one back up and running well enough that I could run controls on it, we started keeping specimens instead of sending them out and I got to run most of a chemistry panel on one machine, but all of the tests it was still having issues with on the other one. emoticon I'll tell you, when things are really stinking like that...it sure does make the day go by fast. emoticon I've hardly ever been so happy to have my shift end. Now just one more day to work before I get my weekend and get to sleep as late as I want to...

I hope that you're all staying warm and avoiding driving in snow storms...

There was much rejoicing!

Thanks Gail-we did get heavy rain-1 3/4 inch today and strong wind gusts but by late afternoon things calmed down and now we are waiting for the cold to hit. By tomorrow night supposed to be 31 here. Going to have to cover the plants again. Thankful we don't have to worry about ice and snow.
Took Abbie to the groomer today. She wasn't happy with it storming but had made the appointment 6 weeks ago so.....she just had to deal. We also dog sat for friends today, had company come to visit and took them out for lunch and then had friends want us to take them to the campground that serves fish on Fri nights. Busy day.
We lost one of our park residents during the night. The lady never took a pill and suddenly was having trouble with falling-brain tumor. She had surgery around Christmas and never made it home from the hospital. Another fell and broke her hip and she cared for her DH so now his daughters are coming to care for him but until then, park friends are seeing to his needs.

Dear Friends:

For those of you who are in the path of the storms,,,I think many of youI, please take care. Don't try to venture out unless it's an emergency. We are accustomed to driving in deep snow, but you are not. As a matter of fact, our weather the past few days has been quite good for winter. For one thing it has warmed up a bit each day and it is now in the high 20s. For another, it's been a couple of weeks since we had snow and there wasn't very much at all. Hope it continues that way. The worst is ice. Here, in my neighborhood, we have underground power sources, so ice storms do not cut off our heat and electricity.

Pat: Florida is supposed to be hit with storms and tornados. Take care.

Sending hugs to all,

Gail

Val I think it is wise to have 1 dr who knows all that is going on with your health issues. We have been with our primary dr for about 10 yrs and depend on him when DH has been hospitalized. We have most every specialty dr there is for him now. Have made a few changes when we weren't happy with one but think for the most part he is set now. It is nice to have that good relationship with your dr.

We had 22 come to breakfast this morning and a good visit was had-we didn't leave the restaurant till almost 9:30 and we arrived at 8! I had to be home by 10 as I had tome the pharmacy I would be here by 10 for the delivery of my medicine. The driver arrived about 10:30 so glad we had gotten back home.
We ran errands this afternoon. We filled up the car-$1.759 for gas today. Lowest price we have seen so far but see on the news other states are even lower. We visited a couple of furniture stores as I am looking for a couple of chairs. We have found one we really like but now to decide if it is what we both want. The salesperson will come out and look over things to see if she thinks it is the best fit which is a nice feature. We also stopped by the bank so I could cash a couple of checks for park stuff and went to the phone store-I had planned to upgrade my phone as it is giving me fits and is not holding a charge. In fact, I had charged it Tues eve and when the sales clerk went to look at it, it was dead as a doornail so will have to return so they can transfer my contacts. I was hoping to get it done today but.....wasn't meant to be.

I saw a doctor in an urgent care in December and got refills for my meds. This appointment is to establish a relationship with a new primary care doctor so I'll have someone I can call when things come up that I need a doctor for. I had a really great primary care for many years but he moved to an office way the heck on the other side of town. I could just see nurse practitioners and physician assistants whenever I need something, but I really want to have one doctor who has all of my records and knows all of the stuff that's going on with my health. And I WILL make it to that appointment on March 3rd. For sure.

There was much rejoicing!

Val - Could you get in for just a Med check. Or is that what is appt. is for to renew your prescriptions. As I has a appt. for a Physical but, my Meds would be out of refills before I saw the Doctor. So, I got in earlier for just a med check. Just a thought.

Well, back to work, working 9:30am to 2:30pm. Starting my 6 day in a row day shift. I just got use to working nights and now I go back to days for 6 days then go back to night for 2 days with a day off in between.

Hope everyone is having a good week.

DG so glad to hear that the babies are doing well and big brother love little sister. I am sure they are really cute together. It is nice you are getting all this time to enjoy them. Come back and update us whenever you can.

Val glad you didn't have to wait too long to reschedule. Some drs down here aren't as strict as others but I imagine the ones with these policies have been left "holding the bag" so to speak too many times and finally got tired of it.

My podiatrist prescribed some medicine for me on Fri but my insurance would not cover it so she tried to find something they would cover but NOTHING so there is a pharmacy in town that will supply a cream that will work for $30 and deliver it to me for that so that is what I opted to do. Certainly a lot better than the close to $300 I would have had to pay at Wal-Mart!

I have had meetings today. We had a finance meeting this morning and then our annual members meeting this afternoon. That has taken up a lot of my day. Now I have more minutes to type up! Will try to do that tomorrow as Fri is going to be a busy day.

We had our coldest night of the year overnight-woke to 33 this morning. However, it is sunny out and no wind so turned out to be a beautiful albeit a cooler day-65 this afternoon.

Pat, I don't have a fear of going to the doctor, I just have a distrust of doctors and a dislike of getting out of bed at 6:00 in the morning when I have to work until 10:00 at night. I figured I was going to be charged for the missed appointment but the gal I spoke with told me that wouldn't happen unless it became a habit. Anyway, my intestinal issues have improved a bit since yesterday morning and my new appointment is on March 3rd. Still need to call and make an appointment with my neurologist but that one wasn't as high a priority as getting in to see a new primary care doctor. I'll get it all taken care of...sooner or later...

There was much rejoicing!

Val. Hope you're feeling better. Perhaps you could call the office and see if you can be on a standby list in case someone cancels.

Pat. That's pretty harsh dropping you as a patient. Obviously, if Bill went from ER to inpatient you were tied up and worried. They are not like that here, not if you have an excuse.

DG. so happy for you. What a blessing. So good that the big brother isn't jealous. Stay wel.

Sandy. It's just wonderful that you were able to relax.

Val I hope you get into the dr soon! I think you have a fear of the dr emoticon I hope they don't charge you for missed appointments. Down here the drs have pretty much all taken to charging you if you don't show because a lot of people were not showing up. In a way, I can't blame them as they set aside that time for you. I even had a problem one time when DH went into the hospital when I called to let them know he was hospitalized! Our friend got a certified letter from the dr's office that they really didn't want him as a patient anymore because he didn't show and didn't call!
Coldest weather of the season down here-freeze warnings just north of us and frost for our are. High today to get to 65 but 35 this morning when I got up. We covered our plants so hope they did ok. I have a 10 am meeting and our annual membership meeting is at 1 so best get my shower and breakfast so I can get to the 1st one on time!!

I was supposed to go to an appointment with my new primary care doctor at 8:20 this morning. So I got up at 6:30, which is several hours before I usually drag myself out of bed, and got myself ready to leave. Then right about the time that I needed to get my butt out the door in order to get to my appointment on time...I developed really bad diarrhea. emoticon So I missed my darned appointment and had to reschedule for the middle of March. That appointment will be at 10:30 in the morning instead of 8:20, so hopefully I'll be able to get myself up and out the door in time for that one. The prescriptions I got right before Christmas have 2 more refills so I think they should get me to my appointment. If not, the woman I spoke to when I rescheduled my appointment told me that I could stop by the site where the doctor's office is and talk to one of their PAs or nurse practitioners.

So that's the only "big" news I have right now. I hope the week is going well for the rest of you. Off to bed now.

There was much rejoicing!

Wish it was that simple Gail, they were turned away at the gate as they were to fly to Holland! Word to anyone flying internationally-make sure your passport has over 6 months left or you will not be allowed to fly. They were told even if they left them fly to Holland, they would be put on the next flight back to Canada (at their expense) and the airline would be fined for letting them fly!
It is a chili day down south to combat the chilly weather! I thought I had some hamburger in the freezer but no I didn't soooo I had to venture to the store to purchase some to make the chili. Luckily it was on sale so now I have 4 packages in the freezer for later use.

Pat: No problem for your friends. Have them submit for passport renewal; it takes less time than it does to get a new passport. They'll have it way before the trip.

Long day but things went well for DH. Ulcer is 95% healed. We arrived before 7 and was walking out by 8:30. Had breakfast and was on our way home from the restaurant by 9:30. DH took a nap while I went to get Abbie from friends and then I took a long, cold walk in the park with Vickie.
This afternoon we had our camping club meet up at Olive Garden - 15 of us there this time. Had a nice visit with everyone and got caught up. Felt sorry for one of the couples-they had a trip planned this summer to Holland with friends but because their passport would expire in less than 6 mo, they weren't allowed to go! Lost about $4K as they booked it all themselves and had no trip insurance and no travel agent to advise them to renew their passports! Expensive lesson.
Friends came back after the luncheon and we played a couple of games of Hand & Foot and they headed home before 7 and I am really tired. Won't have to rock me to sleep tonight!

Gail - I the store closes at 10pm but we stay till 11pm to do all the cleaning. that is Monday to Thursday. Friday and Saturday it is 12am and Sunday we stay till 10pm.

Well, it is another rainy day here. I have been catching up on things and putting things away. I have been buying pre-made dinners from our market that is has been inexpensive. Then add veggies of my choice or whatever goes with what I pick out. It has helped with fixing dinner before I go to work and ex DH has something when he gets home. It is enough for two people. I fixed a casserole the other night so we have leftovers too.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Gail-I don't know who all carries LL brand but it is carried by our Beall's Dept. stores. the clothing is brightly colored prints-she makes tops, jackets, nightwear, and I believe scarves. I guess you could say they are casual trendy. I will try to get a pic of me in the top when it warms up. It has cap sleeves so weather needs to be a little warmer to wear it. I would imagine you can check out some of her clothing online. She is a designer that either you love her clothing or hate it.
DH has his endoscopy this morning. It was early so only 42 when we left about 6:30. it is only 54 at noon so not a big warm up today. His ulcer is 95% healed so dr was happy with that.
Have a luncheon this afternoon with several of our old camping friends. There will be about 14 of us getting together. I used to try to get as many as I could but it got to be a real hassle to find everyone and get a restaurant that could hold 100-125 of us. This is much nicer-small enough to visit with everyone!

Sandy: It stuns me that the store where you work is open so late. The Kohl's here only has such hours during the Christmas season. Are these hours common in your part of the country?

I never heard of that brand. Is it a designer label? What color is it and what does it look like?

Thank care with those storms. I heard there is or was a hurricane in the North Atlantic brewing. Is that what is causing your .

Welcome Tina. Glad to have you join us.

Took our friend Ellie shopping yesterday. Taught her the fine art of using coupons and sales to get a bargain! Went to Bealls and they had 50% off on their marked down clearance items and an additional $10 off if you spent $25. I have been eyeing a Leoma Lovegrove top for a long time so....finally own one and instead of the crazy price of $48, I got it for $12. Still more than I like to pay but....I really, really liked it so decided to splurge.

Bad storms down here but the worst were about 100 miles south of us. We had high winds and about 1/2 inch of rain. Looks like colder weather for a few days.

DG so happy that everyone is adjusting and baby is doing well. I am sure you are all busy with everything that a new baby needs and happy to hear little brother is getting plenty of attention too-nice there are several of you to be sure he doesn't feel left out.

Sandy sounds like you are trying to get a jump on tax season. Glad you are getting some rest too.

We had severe storms today. Of course, today was the day I had an appointment at the podiatrist and she is about 45 min from home and I had to drive in the heavy rain. I left early and took my time. In places, the road was flooded so I was very careful in those spots-slow and tried to take the high side on the 4 lane road!
After I finished with my appointment, we had lunch and then did some thrift store shopping. Vickie & Sonny had accompanied us and she and I found several Christmas items that were on sale half off and we got an additional 10% Sr. discount so felt we did good for the park!!!
We had left here at 10 and didn't get home till after 4. Nice day spent with friends.
Because of the stormy weather, we had left Abbie with our friends and they enjoyed having her. Ellie lost her shih-Tzu last summer to brain cancer so she was happy to get her doggie fix.
This afternoon the sun came out and it turned into a beautiful day-warmed up enough we didn't need our jackets-think we topped out at 72. However we have to get ready for the polar plunge next week!

Thank you friends! We are all adjusting very well. The baby is wonderful. She eats and sleeps and every once in awhile she opens her eyes to let us see that they are blue. ;-) Big Brother has been asking to kiss her. So very sweet! He has lots of helping arms so doesn't feel very misplaced for which we are thankful!

Grandma is tired but very happy! Thanks for all your good wishes!! Gail your yiddish made me smile! I had a very dear Jewish girl friend in high school. :-)

Hugs to you all! Hope to return soon. Today DS#2 came to visit for a few days so time is even less available. ;-) But I will be back, Lord willing!! ;-)

Val glad to hear you are taking care of yourself and going to go to the dr. I know it is never something any of us want to do but.....we just have to do it to catch things early. Enjoy your time off.

Gail glad to hear you warmed up a tad. We will likely see some 30's next week. BRRRR!

We went to breakfast with our Thursday group-15 showed up this morning. We had to get back home as we had folks coming to power wash our house. We were going to get it done in Dec. but it got cold then the holidays so finally getting it taken care of. Now I have to wash all the windows. Will work on it as I clean each room. Working in the spare bedroom right now,
We had to move everything off the front porch and patio and I trimmed some plants back and we moved potted plants away from the house. Think they are almost done so we must go reverse the process! Supposed to rain later tonight and tomorrow so need to get it taken car of as everything is sitting out in the yard.

Good morning

I was wrong about the price of a Powerball ticket...it was $2/ticket, not $1. In any case my neighbor bought me 5 tickets. On three I had no matching numbers. On two I got 1 number. And no, I didn't get the Powerball on any of them. That'll show me. Guess it will be another few years before I try that again.

It's warmed up quite a bit and is already in the low 30s. Will take a shower and then go out for a bit. The library has two books for me and I have two to return.

Sending you all hugs and hoping you enjoy the day.

Gail
