Yes, our temperatures have been quite a bit colder than normal recently. You're experiencing global warming where you are, but we are most definitely getting global cooling here in the Rockies. emoticon I remember when I was a kid and people were afraid that aerosol hair sprays and such were going to send us into a new ice age...well right now I sure feel like I'm living in one. That's okay, though. Better for me and my MS than the heat we'll probably have this summer...

I hope you're all staying warm. I need to finish up with my email and such so that I can get myself to bed. Everyone have a great New Year's Eve. emoticon emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

WOW Val isn't that a bit colder than normal for you? We are about 15 degrees above normal but that is supposed to end this weekend. Hope you and Cali Cat make up and get back to normal. We were lucky that Abbie didn't shun us after leaving her for 6 weeks.

Sandy sorry to hear that work isn't so much fun lately. You were enjoying it so hope things get back to being fun soon. I guess the holidays has made it really difficult.

We had another record heat day-86 today. I worked pretty much all day getting the Christmas decorations taken down and I have to wash most of them so I am not putting away dirt in the boxes. I used a lot of Christmas cookie jars to set in the gardens for décor and they get dirt on the bottoms and all have to be washed. Also use a lot of the large candy canes as borders and wash all of those off also so it is a time consuming job and then have to let it all dry before putting things away but it is mostly done. I have the last load on my golf cart-wanted to let them dry good before putting in tubs for another year. We are expecting rain this weekend and cooler temps so decided to get it done while it was dry out.

Hope everyone has a safe evening tomorrow-Happy New Year a little early.

I am glad that everyone is OK. I have not been getting the link to our team Chat. So, sorry I haven't checked in. Gail Please let DG know that we are thinking of her.

Val - How are you doing? I know that things in Texas and states close to it have been having crazy weather.

Work has been out of control and not a lot of fun lately. I am looking forward to the next 2 days off.

Wishing you all a wonderful 2016!

I've seen some of those reports too, and it's very sad. The interstate east of town is closed all the way to Texas, if not farther, or at least it still was this morning. This weather is just crazy and I pray that no more people are killed as a result of this awful storm. (Homes can be rebuilt, people can not.) Our high temperatures won't be up to 40 degrees until the 3rd and our overnight lows will be below 30 degrees (and mostly below 20) for at least the next 10 days. I'm soooo over winter and bad weather in general...

Cali Cat is starting to forgive me...I think...Yesterday after I picked her up from the kennel she didn't cry too much, just wanted to be with me (mostly on my lap) almost all day. Today she seems to be over that, though she does want to be on my desk and owning all of my computer parts. emoticon She has been very vocal about what a bad kitty mama I am all day long, but I think maybe she's starting to forgive me. I think that she wants the weather to warm up, too. (She usually doesn't get underneath my comforter at night, but I suspect she'll do it again tonight because I don't leave the heat turned up too high when I'm sleeping.)

Anyway, that's what's going on in my life today. I hope that the rest of you are staying warm and enjoying the last few days of the year. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

Val glad you had a great Christmas with your parents and hope little kitty soon forgives you. I am glad the weather didn't keep you from getting home.

We are learning of more and more flooding back in the MO/ILL area. I have never heard of the interstates being closed due to flooding in all the years we lived there but several areas have been closed for differing periods of time. Saw the McDonalds and Dickey Bub's Hardware store underwater in Union, MO and we used to stop at both of those places when we were campers. Feel so badly for all those who have lost homes and businesses. Never a good time but even worse during the holidays.

We got some winter weather here while I was in Tucson. A couple o friends told me on Facebook that Albuquerque was getting a lot of snow the night before I flew home but luckily things were a lot better by the time my flight left. It was delayed by a couple of hours and there was still a little bit of ice on the roads when I was driving home, but compared to what people in Texas and the eastern part of the country are still dealing with it really wasn't bad here. Thankfully no tornadoes for us.

I had a very nice time with my parents over Christmas. I missed my kitty and didn't get home in time to pick her up from the kennel on Sunday night, but she's home now and driving me crazy with all of her complaining about what a bad kitty mom I am. emoticon emoticon I'm going back to work this afternoon, really wish I didn't have to but oh well. It pays my bills.

I hope you all had a very nice holiday and that none of you have been seriously impacted by super storm Goliath, which is apparently what it's being called. Stay warm and have a great last few days of the year.

There was much rejoicing!

Gail thanks for the update.

Our grandson let us know he had issues getting home from work today-they live high on a rocky hill but a creek runs at the bottom so they might not be getting out for several days and the folks who live along the creek are likely to be flooded.

Our MO friends who plan to buy a home in our community is expecting to lose a mobile home he has down in the Branson area due to flooding. Feel so sorry for all these folks who are losing so much and nothing they can do but watch the floodwaters rise.

Good evening

I just heard from DG. There have been tornadoes in her area and people have lost their lives and property. Lots of distruction. She and her family are fine and have not suffered property loss. Her sons are involved in the safety and rescue efforts. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

BTW, the baby hasn't come yet.

Gail your time bank sounds like a wonderful thing-it should be around everywhere as it could certainly benefit so many people. How nice of you to be sure you are making things that this member will eat.

We are still blessed with beautiful weather. Hard to believe what is happening all over everywhere else. It seems there is flooding back in MO and DH's daughter might be kept on her hill as it appears the flooding might close the road leading to her home. The others are ok at least for now.

My DB came down from JAX on his Harley today and we had a nice visit-he was here about 4 hours. His DW wasn't feeling well so she didn't come with him. Had not seen him since early in the year and he told me he had changed his diet and been exercising and WOW he has lost about 30 lbs and looks so much like dad now. He says he is where he wants to be and dr is happy so I am glad he was able to make the changes. He does very physical work so if he wants to keep working, he needs to be healthy.

DH seems to be over whatever hit him on Christmas but waiting to hear about the results of his MRI. Didn't get a call from his dr today so hoping we might hear something tomorrow.

Today is a real winter day: temps in the 20s with wind/chill about 10. Snow and wind gusting. Guess what? I'm staying in! LOL

I'll be cooking a meal for another TimeBank member who is on disability. She emailed me she eats anything but red meat. When I actually spoke with her I learned she doesn't like spicy foods, Indian cuisine, cooked broccoli or spinach.... I made some turkey, bean, vegetable soup and will make her a cheese manicotti. I'll also send her some fruit but will call first to see if she likes it. This member is a real tough one to cook for.

Gail

DG hope you are able to get everything finished up and your little guy can finish cutting those teeth. Never a fun time for the child or the parent. Enjoy watching your little guy have fun tomorrow and hoping the new arrival will soon be here,

Wishing all of you a Blessed Christmas and may you enjoy the day and remember the true reason for the season.

We have been gifted with so many home baked goodies that I have frozen some to enjoy later on. Packages just keep appearing on our back deck! Even Abbie has gotten some new toys. Even without family close by, we are having a wonderful Christmas.

Merry Christmas one and all!

Merry Christmas to all. I am not sure if I will get back here closer to the day. All is well, we are just super busy. DGS is still cutting his top front teeth. Mercy that little guy suffers. I do wish they would come through. He is waking up at night and staying awake for a couple hours. Yikes!!
Christmas should be fun. It is also a full moon so maybe we will have a Christmas baby. But then the due date isn't until Jan 3rd so only time will tell. We will be ready whenever he/she comes.
We are having really warm weather here. I came down with a cold today and hope I can kick it quickly. I still have a lot of wrapping to do.
Hugs and Blessings to you all!!

Gail enjoy yourself at both dinners. Nice to have family close to enjoy the holidays with.

We went out this evening to look at the Christmas lights. We have one mobile home park in town that goes all out-they call it Christmas Tree Lane. They added even more lights this year. A couple of years ago they were talking about not doing this anymore (it has been a tradition since the '70's) as a lot of the residents are older and not up to doing it but many folks have volunteered to help them and it continues to go on. After we left there, we headed to Venetian Gardens which is a city park on the lake and it was gorgeous-they light up a couple of islands and you can walk over the bridge to get to the islands. Our last stop was another mobile home park in the next town. They only light it up for 2 nights and the people sit out in their carports to wave as folks drive thru. Quite a nice evening with friends getting in the Christmas spirit.

Sandy glad you got one overniter done. Hopefully it will all be over soon.

DH & I went to our annual physicals today and glad to have that behind us. For the most part our numbers were good-nothing as bad as I feared. I need to work more on my triglycerides. DH got a referral for his back issue and will be seen on Thur for that. Hopefully he can get some relief. His ortho doc was making him wait till late Jan so we got a referral from our primary, I am waiting for W-mart to call me that my medicine is ready-dr noticed a rash on my foot (allergic to something so must wear socks when I work in the grass!).

Val hope you have a great visit with your parents. I hope that Cali cat does well at the kennel. Too bad you don't have a friend to leave her with but guess this is the next best thing!

Sandy sounds like this will be a hectic week. Hope after this week is past that your schedule gets a bit less hectic. Try to find time to relax and enjoy.

I still have some little odds and ends to do but for the most part I have my Christmas taken care of. I need to sit down and really look at what I need to do-plan to bake some banana bread tomorrow for a few more folks and that should take care of it!!
I worked in the park garden today, did some on things here at home and really need to deadhead my roses and clean out my back flower bed so maybe tomorrow or Wed. I finally got the car washed and vacuumed this afternoon. It has either been too hot, too cold, or rainy since we returned from our trip. Looks much better. (I did do a quick wash job right after we returned but it needed a good scrub to get rid of some of the bugs on the front.)

Tomorrow is both of ours final dr appointment for the year. We see our primary tomorrow morning.

This morning I got up at an ungodly hour (6:00) so that I could go to my yearly appointment with the eye doctor at 8:30. My eyes are in good shape but now in addition to my progessives I need a pair of computer glasses to make spending most of my day looking at a computer easier. So I picked out frames for those and also for a new pair of sunglasses since I still have a lot of flexible spending money to use. I should be able to pick those up in a couple of weeks.

After the eye doctor I took my big box of Christmas presents for my brother and his wife to the post office to mail them. For about $30 they will probably get to Ohio by Christmas Eve, or I could have spent $93 to ship them overnight. Excuse me? That whole box of presents probably isn't worth $93, so I did it the not quite guaranteed to get there in time way. Hopefully they'll make it in time...If not, well nobody will be terribly surprised because that has been my issue since my divorce, not getting Christmas presents mailed on time...

Tomorrow I have to pack for my trip to Arizona and take Cali Cat to the kennel in the afternoon. I'm going to take a pillow case and a scrub top that's coming apart so that she'll have things that smell like me and hopefully won't feel too scared and lonely. She won't be thrilled about staying in the kennel, but she'll be okay. Hopefully I'll survive not having a cat sleeping on me for a week. emoticon emoticon I hope that the group is quiet right now because you're all getting ready to spend a wonderful holiday with family and friends.

There was much rejoicing!

DG so happy to hear all is well and that before long you will be having another little one. Maybe a Christmas present????
We enjoyed the children's program at church this morning and then went out for lunch before returning home and playing cards.
I am sitting here laughing at Abbie-she hid a greenie in our spare bedroom and we keep that door shut and she yipped so Bill went to see what she wanted so he let her in and she was a happy little girl-got her little green bone and brought it to the family room to eat. Tell me that dogs don't think and remember things! She knew exactly where she left it and wanted to go get it!!!
We warmed up into the 70's today. Supposed to be in the 80's thru next weekend.

Hello Friends,
Sorry I have been missing for so long. All is well. Just busy, busy and since I still don't get notifications of posts it takes longer to get to my chats. I miss you all.

The baby is due any day now so we are busy on that score too. Mommy's bag is packed and so is the baby's and the snack bag for Daddy. ;-)

I hope to check in more frequently but doubt that will happen.

Hugs and blessings to you all!

Val hope you get it done and get those presents in the mail. I think it is awful what they charge anyhow to get things delivered anymore without paying the extra but it is what it is. I am thankful I got my cards off on Tues and have been hearing from folks that they arrived. (the ones with gift cards for the kids).

We dropped 30 degrees in a day! It was already falling like a rock yesterday afternoon-67 at 4 pm and we hit a low of 44. They saw some 30's up in the panhandle. This cold is going to be short lived as we are to be back at 80 by Mon. However will have to wear a jacket to church tomorrow.

I am delivering the last of my gifts to friends. Want to get that finished by early next week-it is just little things for friends here in Brittany. I actually made a big pot of chili and took containers to some folks-know they don't need cookies and candy as they are diabetic so thought this would be a better gift-one less meal to cook!

Saturday is the last day to mail things that you want to get to their destination before Christmas and I'm not gonna make it. Oh well. I'll get my brother and SIL's gifts wrapped on Sunday and pay extra when I mail them on Monday. I can live with that. This year I've really been trying to get things mailed on time for birthdays and such, and I really need to get the Christmas presents there on time even if I have to pay extra. I've mailed Christmas presents as much as months after Christmas since my divorce and this year I really want to get everything to people on time, which is going to end up costing me extra because I couldn't get it done on time. That's okay, just the cost of procrastinating as much as I sometimes do...

So one more work day and then I'm off until the 29th. Gonna spend Christmas with my parents, which should be a lot of fun. Cali Cat is going to spend about a week in a kennel and I'm sure she's not going to be thrilled with that, but I'm sure she'll be okay. I'm going to take an old tee shirt with her so that she'll have something that smells like me. Hopefully that will make her feel better. And besides, cats sleep about 16 hours a day so she won't even miss me 2/3 of the time. emoticon Hopefully it will be a little bit warmer in Tucson than it has been here recently. I hope you all have a fabulous (and warm) weekend.

There was much rejoicing!

Sandy hope you can survive a few more days and then Christmas will be over. Rough to work these floating shifts.

I finally made it to get my haircut today. What a relief-I was really getting shaggy. Will do some gift "bagging" tomorrow-I don't wrap things. Then need to see about making a couple things and I am done with my Christmas preparations!

Sandy so happy your customers are staying with you. What a relief and you probably could sue the ex-employee!!!

I took Abbie to the vet today and she treated the ear infection. Now I have to be really careful and not get her ears wet for 30 days as the medicine she put in them keeps working but getting wet could dilute it and it wouldn't be as effective.

This afternoon is was time for my appointment with the podiatrist so that took almost 3 hours as her office is about 45 min from us. When I started going to their office it was about 15 min away but her husband came down with cancer and hasn't been able to practice with his wife for about a year so they closed all but 1 office and it happened to be the furthest away from me and my treatment is already paid for so......stuck going there! I really like her so it is worth the trip.

So, it is a very cold day here it is 41 but feels like 33. It has been raining all day today. I am so pleased and happy with all my clients. I have heard from almost all of them and they are standing by me and none of them are leaving. HOORAY!

Well, I have been resting all day in getting ready of working 11pm to 7am tonight. It was on the news here that Kohl's starts there 24 hrs of staying open till Dec 24th when we close at 6pm. I am so glad that I am only working 1 over night shift. The best part of it is that we are paid for Christmas and we get 35% our purchases. They do take care of us.

It is hard to believe that this year is coming to an end. So, What are you Thankful for ?

Have a great day everyone!

Thank you. I talked to all my clients and they are all on board and staying with me. He tried to say that they were leaving. He called MY clients and told them that I Sold the business. Well, I got one better on him. I told my clients that he was upset with me as I fired him for stealing my posts and flyer boxes as he wanted to start doing what I did. I also informed them that he is not reliable. I informed him that what he was doing is slander and if he didn't want a law suit he better stop. As I have already contacted my Attorney. That shut him up. Plus all my clients are on board. I am just glad that I have contacted them and let them know.

I work tomorrow 11pm to 7am. We are now open 24 hours. Our weather has become very cold here.

I wish everyone a wonderful day.

So sorry that life is throwing you so many curve balls. Praying that things start to improve.

I had a crazy busy day and have to deal with 1 more tomorrow and then things should settle down. Abbie has an ear infection so have to take her to the vet for that. Would have gone today but couldn't fit it in. Already had 3 appointments today so just couldn't fit in one more-hate for her to have to wait another day but one can only do so much. She isn't crying but doing a lot of digging at her ear.

I was off today. Ran around and did a few things. I was hoping to get the tree up today but, just didn't get around to it. Still dealing with whatever this is.

Oh, my ex-employee is now going around bad mouthing me. I nip that in the butt. I almost lost a couple of agents but, was able to smooth that over.

Hope everyone is having a great week.

Holidays seem to be a stressor-sometimes I wonder why we do this to ourselves. When I worked, I did my baking and cards over the long Thanksgiving weekend and we always put up our tree on the 1st and it came down Christmas night! Now I don't work and not nearly as organized-maybe it is because I always think I can do it tomorrow!!!
I did finish addressing my Christmas cards today and just waiting on the pics to arrive and hopefully they will be here no later than Tues. At least that is what the tracking says. They were saying they would arrive today but suddenly it went to Tues.

Worked 4am to 8:30am today and came home and wet back to sleep for 3 hrs. I have been drinking tea and eating toast and resting all day. I did get my step-daughters Christmas presents wrapped and ready to ship. I am going to try to get the Christmas tree up this week and wrap the presents for DS and my Aunt. Than I have baking to do. Hopefully I will get it all done by next weekend.

Hope that everyone has a good weekend.

Gail sounds like you had a wonderful time. I have been caroling here in the park but that is it.

Sandy so sorry you have caught the crud too. It is rampant down here. Folks are in beds in the halls at the hospital. So thankful we didn't get that bad.

Took Bill to his oncologist and pulmonologist today. Good report at both-however even though he is in compliance, his numbers are not where the pulmonary doc wants them-thinks it may be his machine-maybe now he will push harder to get him that new one we tried to get before we left on our trip!!!

Well, everyone at work has been sick and so had ex-DH. I thought I had missed it. But, woke up the other morning with sinus and cough. I am feeling a little better today since I had the day off and got off early yesterday. I am getting off early tomorrow also. I wasn't able to get the presents wrapped to be shipped but will do so tomorrow. Ex-Dh says he is going to help me put up the tree this weekend.

Gail - I love to put up the tree and it does make me feel good. Just had to believe that Christmas is almost here and this year I am just not ready.

Hope everyone is having a great week.

Pat: I'm so delighted for Bill. Please tell him I send my best.

A Timebank friend of mine moved to another state and told me to transfer her hours to my account and use the time however I like. I've been donating hours to those in need and I feel like Santa!

Last night I went to a Christmas pot luck and sing along. Our entire bridge group was invited and I brought a dairy free, gluten free, fat free casserole. I didn't think many people would eat it since the hostess had a big ham, but there was about 2 portions left in the end. This was the very first time that I went to a sing along during the holidays. Any of you ever do that? After dinner we sang about 20 carols and really had a blast. The only other sing along I ever went to was on a boat ride in New Zealand, many years ago. I met up with a bunch of Brits on the boat and we had a very good time.

Sending many hugs,

Gail

Good news-DH saw the gastro doc and no cancer in the biopsies, He is scheduled for another endoscopy in mid Jan to be sure the ulcer is healing or healed. Dr. put him on an additional medication to help with the healing.

Gail, I'm going to try your potato pancake recipe one of these days, maybe after I get back from Tucson. I've had them before and they are so good, especially with sour cream. And they don't sound toooo hard to make, so we'll just see what I can do with your recipe...

I've made collages in the past and it was always a lot of fun. I'm sure mine were much different from yours, Pat. I was in college and they always had a lot of rock stars and pictures from magazines like Rolling Stone. But they were a lot of fun to make.

Well as usual I stayed at work late and so now it's getting close to my bedtime. I hope that you're all staying warm and having a really great week.

There was much rejoicing!

Gail thanks for sharing your recipe-they sound wonderful. Will have to give them a try.
No, I had never done a collage before. I spent about 90 min. getting it the way I liked it so hope it looks nice when I get them-if not, too late and folks are going to have to deal! emoticon

Val glad you are getting excited about your trip to Tucson and pray you don't have any problems. It is a crazy world we live in but we just have to go on with our life-we can't live in fear.

I got started addressing my Christmas cards after I walked - yes I got out and walked. Trying to work back up to where I should be. I hope to get them all ready and when the pics arrive all I have to do it pop them in the holders and send them off!

We went to a German restaurant in Sanford to celebrate our friend Ellie's birthday this afternoon. I was happy I just got the luncheon meal-it was plenty. They had some awesome mashed potatoes and red cabbage. I could have made a meal on that alone!

Pat: A collage sounds really nice. Have you done that before?

Sandy: Glad you got some rest. Does putting up a tree and wrapping gifts cheer you up or do you get stressed?

Val: So happy you're looking forward to your trip. I'm reluctant to travel these days; it's scary for me.

DG: How are you doing? All set for the holidays?

Nan: What are your plans for Christmas? Will you stay home or go to family or friends?

Sending you all hugs,

Gail

For those who may like to give it a try, here is my potato pancake recipe for Hanukkah:

3 C grated potatoes ( I used my food processor. )
Bit of grated onion ( about 1-2 T )
2 eggs, beaten
6 crushed saltine crackers
Salt to taste ( I added about 2 pinches and let people add to taste at the table. )

Mix all ingredients well in a large bowl.
Heat a good 1/2 inch of oil in a large frying pan.
When oil is hot drop large spoonfuls of mixture in pan being careful not to crowd. Remember, you'll have to flip the latkas over. After a bit, when the underside is golden brown, flip the latkas. When done let the latkas drain on paper towels. Repeat until all the mixture is used up. I used a single plate an put a paper towel between layers. Made about 13 latkas. Serve with sour cream and/or apple sauce. Mm good!

Our weather here has been crazy. At or below freezing every night, but up in the mid 50s every afternoon! And tomorrow afternoon it's supposed to be in the low 60s, though I'll believe that if I actually see it. I'd be more than okay with a warm winter, but getting down below freezing most nights is getting kind of old. (Yes, I do know that most of the rest of you have it much worse than I do as far as the cold is concerned, but we're just not used to it here and I'm a baby about it. emoticon )

I'm getting kind of excited about my trip to Tucson for Christmas. I'm trying not to worry about the possibility of terrorist attacks over the holiday because I don't think that the risk is any worse than it has been at this time of any other year in recent memory, and I flew to Tucson for Christmas a couple of years ago without any problems. Of course with the media screaming about terrorism constantly it's hard not to get at least a little bit worried, but I'm trying not to listen to it.

I hope that the week is starting out well for the rest of you and that nobody's stressing over Christmas. It's supposed to be a happy time of year and we ruin that if we allow ourselves to get stressed over things like buying all the presents or cooking holiday meals. Just take it easy and know that things will all work out in the end. Have a great week.

There was much rejoicing!

Gail - Happy Hanukkah.

I have today off but, still have a lot to do. I did sleep in till about 8 am. I also got the grocery shopping out of the way yesterday. But, still need to go to the bank and pick up ex-DH plates for his car at the dealership. Then put up the Christmas tree and wrap the gifts to go back east. But, right now I am relaxing and catching up on some shows.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Gail so happy you had a great time with your family and got to celebrate traditionally. I may not be Jewish but I do love your potato pancakes.

We went to a flea market after church and hoped to find some pots of geraniums but too early so have to wait a bit. I wanted them for my big urns in front of our house so guess they will remain empty for a bit unless I break down and buy a couple of poinsettias!

Good Evening:

This was a great Hanukkah and the potato pancakes were the best ever...no kidding. I found the recipe on the internet and it was highly rated. We all enjoyed the meal and had a nice visit afterward. Tomorrow is a work day so tHelena and Reed had to leave a while ago. What blessings!

Hanukkah is the celebration of freedom and a miracle. In an attempt to subjugate the Jews a war ensued and the temple was stormed. The Jews, sorely outnumbered, overcame the onslaught. A single jar of oil that was in the temple basement was salvaged. That jar was supposed to last for one day. Miraculously lasted for 8 days...enough time to go to another town and return with more oil. Why the potato pancakes you ask? Because the pancakes are fried in oil...lots of oil. LOL I only make this once a year. It's a messy operation and not the healthiest dish on the planet, but it's so good and once a year isn't bad..

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend.

G.

Sandy it sounds like you are really putting in some hours. Hope you do get to relax on those treasured days off. The holidays can be brutal even for those of us who don't work! I am so far behind but have decided that what gets done is what gets done and the rest can fall by the wayside!
DH is having more tummy issues so will be glad to see his gastro doc next week and hopefully get some answers. I am doing pretty good-just tire easily now.

Pat - thank you. I know that you are right. I never have heard back from her again. I just told her that we are family and we should be together. That my Uncle wouldn't want her to be alone for Christmas. But, since I wrote her she hasn't said a word.

Gail - you are always cooking something good.

I have been really tired the last couple of days as we were given the opportunity to work overtime. So, I took advantage of it plus I am on another 6 day work week that ends tomorrow. But, did have to be in to work at 4am this morning. That is going to be my new Saturday schedule till the end of the Holidays. Then it is back to normal. Thank goodness as being to work at 4am would kill me. I did it when I was younger and got into a route and I had no problem. Now that I have been out of that schedule it is really hard.

Going to start my baking here soon. I am going to try to put the tree up this week and get my Step-daughters gift ready to ship. I am going to try to go to the store tomorrow so I don't have to do it on my day off. I like not to have to do anything on my day off or go any where.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Gail-what time is dinner??? emoticon It sounds wonderful and so happy your family will come to celebrate with you.

Sandy you are being most patient with ex-DH and glad you aren't being mean an spiteful-life is already hard enough for those with problems. I am sure you will feel better in the long run because you helped him get on his feet. Too many times when people separate it is a bitter feud and that is good for no one concerned. I am sure your aunt is dealing with a lot since losing your uncle and hopefully in time she will come to see that what you have done was done for the right reasons.

We are going out this evening with about 20 of our friends-finally to celebrate our anniversary which was last week and to celebrate 3 birthdays-1 today, 1 tomorrow and 1 next Tues. It will be a good time by all-just hoping Bill's tummy quiets down-it has been queasy since he has been on the meds.

Took Abbie to the groomer this morning and got some of my outside work done at home. Now need to get my Christmas decorations up at home-don't think I will do a lot this year-just a wreath and maybe a couple of other things and call it good!

My ironing is calling my name also so best get busy if I am going to be ready to go this afternoon by 2 (we are driving about 60 mi to a favorite place about 50 mi to the south of us-we don't go often-usually once a year for our anniversary!)

Last night I contacted my daughter and her husband to ask if they'd like to come over Sunday for potato pancakes (latkes). She said that would be wonderful, so I guess I'll have a traditional Hanukkah after all. My daughter and sil recently decided to become vegetarians, so I'm thinking of making a broccoli and cheddar quiche and a salad to round out the meal. I've got homemade stewed plums with creme fraiche for dessert.

Thank you everyone. I understand in a way what she is going though. Part of it is my Uncle just passed this year and now the Holidays are here and I think it is really hitting her. But, then I know she is also upset with the fact the ex-DH is still living here. He just started working and has borrowed money and just got a car. So, now he is trying to safe some money to get a place. But, my Aunt things those are excuses and he should go no matter what. I guess I have a heart and I can't be that mean and just kick him out. He is helping me pay the bills which he wasn't before. Which is a big improvement and he hasn't had a drink in 4 months now.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Gail agree that it is sad that society today has lost a lot of the special family traditions we grew up with. Like you, all of our family is not close so sending gift cards or checks has to suffice for them also. Hope you will invite a couple of friends over and celebrate on Sunday-good to keep some traditions alive.

Vickie & I finished the park decorating today-what a relief. We donated 2 tubs of Christmas lights we don't plan to use. No sense in taking up much needed storage space if an item isn't being used.

I am pretty much back to normal-Bill is still coughing and not feeling great so it is taking him longer to throw off the bug.

Good Morning:

Yesterday I bought goodies for the Christmas baskets and finished writing out holiday checks this morning. Just have to go to the basement and dig out two Christmas shopping bags and fill them with the goodies I purchased and then I'm done.

This Sunday at sundown is the start of Hanukkah, the 8 day Jewish festival of the lights. Both of my children married Christians, and only two of my grandchildren celebrate both Hanukkah and Christmas. The other two just celebrate Christmas. Yesterday I sent the two who celebrate Hanukkah Hanukkah gelt (money). Hanukkah is a very minor holiday and the gifts are very modest, i.e. a small check, a pair of mittens, a CD, a book, etc. ) The Christmas checks will go out tomorrow.

Since Vic died over 3 years ago there have been no Hanukkah celebrations: lighting of the candles and eating potato latkas (potato pancakes). I miss this and have been toying with the idea of having one or two people over Sunday for the special meal. I decided that this year I will light candles no matter how Sunday shakes out. The fact that there is no family celebration, saddens me. It's just not the same with the grandchildren out of state because Hanukkah is really for the children. I think of my childhood which was so rich in tradition and it saddens me that so much of the past is lost.

Moving on to another topic, I was so depressed yesterday when I learned of the shootings in California. God, when will this all stop?

Sending you all hugs and hoping you all have a good day.

Gail

Pat: So glad you're feeling better.

Val: Sounds like you're in good shape this year with your holiday gifts. Good for you!

Sandy: I'm so sorry your aunt doesn't want to celebrate Christmas with you. Do you belong to a church? Or perhaps you know others who are also without plans and you all can get together.

Sandy so sorry your aunt is being like this but I guess you need to just give her space. I am sure she thinks this will push you into doing what she thinks is best for you but only you know what that is.

Hope everyone is doing better. Not feeling like talking. My Aunt is at it again and I don't know why. I thought we had so much fun the last time out. Now she doesn't want to do anything with me for Christmas.

Have a good week everyone.

Sad but true-we never seem to be happy with our weather! It is too hot here today-84 but our high tomorrow is only supposed to be 70-too cold. I like it about 78! emoticon

I am feeling so much better today-my cough seems to have pretty much gone but I still tire very easily. Vickie & I did work on getting decorations out and believe we are about halfway done. If we don't get rain tomorrow, will try to finish things up. That is always a good feeling. We plan to sort thru a lot and get rid of things that we don't use. Just takes up precious storage space,

Our low temperatures have been below freezing overnight for a few weeks and I'm just tired of it! I know, I know, complaining when it's too hot in the summer and now she doesn't like the cold. emoticon Well that's just how I am and if my ex DH and I had remained married I was looking forward to retiring in Bogota, Colombia, where the weather is like springtime all year round. Sadly, that is not to be because it's virtually impossible to become a citizen of Colombia or even a permanent resident there, but it's okay because I hardly know any Spanish at all...

So aside from being flippin' cold, December is starting out okay for me. I have one more Christmas gift to buy for my dad and I need to get the gifts for my brother and his wife together so that I can wrap them and mail them. I'm hoping that this will be the second year in a row when I'll actually get Christmas presents to them before Christmas instead of after. (I have a really bad track record on this since my divorce...) I also need to get Cali Cat her shots so that she can stay in a kennel while I'm visiting my parents over Christmas. I know that she'd survive just fine if I left her home alone while I'm out of town, but I don't think she'd be very happy about it. The kennel I use is really great. They go in every day and play with the kitties a little bit so that they won't get too sad and lonely. Maybe other kennels do this, too, I don't know. Anyway, I really like the people that run the kennel and I've used them for years with my dogs and cats.

So that's the story of my life right now. I hope that December is starting out well for all of you and that you're staying warm. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

Just 31days till we end this year. I hope it finds all of you a little healthier, a little wealthier (we are trying to save $$$ on here), and wiser in what we need to do to achieve those goals.

DH & I are on meds now for acute bronchitis and I seem to be responding better than he is. I do hope he starts to come around - do not want him going into pneumonia.

We are above average for our temps today-83 for our high and I am wishing we had turned on the a/c. Trying to not use it to help keep our electric bill down. I was happy to say it was under $100 last month and hoping to do as well this month. I average our bills for the year and we ended up being about $1 higher for this year vs last year. Our rates went up this year so I was hoping with our new windows that we had installed last year we would not see a difference but.....at least it wasn't too bad.

I need to get to feeling better so Vickie & I can work on decorating the park for the Christmas holidays. I did manage to put up 2 wreaths today and drug out the huge one we hang on the end of the clubhouse and our maintenance man will have to hang it but the area needs washed first. And I put out my Christmas flag-then had to take a nap-totally wiped me out!! What happened to the Energizer Bunny I used to be????

Good Morning:

Thankfully, we haven't been hit by the horrible weather covering the midwest. Cloudy and 40 today.
