Sandy: Won't the insurance company from the party who hit you pay for all your expenses including lost wages? Sometimes, when it's a clear case, they settle promptly. Years ago someone hit me and I had my car repaired and a check in my hand 8 days later. No attorney was involved.

So, I saw the Doctor today and see said diagnosed me with a concussion due to the car accident. She said it could take a month to over come the effects of it. I am to rest my brain and not do anything. That's no reading, TV, working, etc. just laying in bed sleeping. Right! I have to work to make a living. So, now I have to come home from work and go right to bed.

Good news is I got a new car today. It is a Nissan Altima 2012. It is just like my old car just a newer model. I got a really good deal on the car.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi Friends,
Grocery shopping is done. I was able to do get the dishes done, bed made, laundry washing and drying all before we went. Just finished lunch and am ready for a nap. LOL

Sandy so sorry you continue to have issues from the accident. From grief counseling I learned stress can cause memory loss. You have been under a lot of stress this summer and it seems to be continuing.

Val that is a pain that your boss is being such a pill about all this. You are right, if your schedule had to change to suit the lab and you didn't have to fill out paper work it should be that way if you want to change your schedule. It isn't like you are changing what you will do at the lab just the days you do what you already do.
Hope your Mom and you have a really good time time and find a great apartment for you to move into in the future.

Pat how wonderful that you had such a great visit with your DS and his family. I know that was a delight.

Gail things are good around here. I have had to search out and change home and car insurance. Something DH used to do. I am not sure about such things but praying the Lord will guide me and give me wisdom. It is also time consuming. ;-(
My little guy has cut both bottom teeth and they are beginning to get big enough to see when he opens his mouth. His top teeth are giving him a real hard time right now and he isn't his usual happy self. Well he is until something is out of the normal and then he doesn't handle it very well. I don't when I don't feel well either.

Hugs to you all! Hope you have a great day!

Pat: I'm delighted for you that your trip is giving you so much joy. I can see the smile on your face.

Sandy: So sorry for all you are continuously going through. Please take care of yourself.

DG: How are things around your house? Did your DS finish all the projects? How is the baby? Did his teeth come through?

Nan: Always keeping you in my thoughts.

Val: Good luck with the apartment and furniture hunting.

Sandy hope that they can get to the bottom of all of this. Doesn't sound like you-you are always full of energy. Do take care of yourself.

Val sounds like mom will help you out and be the one to help get things back in line for you. Good luck apt. hunting.

We had an awesome visit with the kids-I was thrilled that the little one-will be 2 in a couple of weeks-took to me without any problem. She was such a little doll. Was hard to leave all of them. Hoping Bill's health stays good enough we can fly out to see them every year. Can't let it go so long again but for almost 3 yrs we had dad to care for and then Bill's health wasn't good so.....time just passed.

We met back up with our friends today and got to have lunch with a lady who used to live in our community. We head into Yellowstone tomorrow. Weather is still co-operating.

Tingling in your feet sounds like my MS, which I would think you would know about by now if you really had it. It also sounds like something that could be caused by a pinched nerve. I hope it's not caused by anything really serious and that your doctor is able to figure it out and treat it soon.

Speaking of doctors, I got a lead on a good doctor whose office is in the area where I'd like to find a doctor. Only problem is that I left the paper with her name on it in my lab coat pocket instead of the pocket of my scrubs, so it didn't come home with me on Saturday. I'm going to bring it home with me tomorrow and see if I can make an appointment with her for sometime soon. I need to establish with a primary care and I need to refill all of my prescriptions. (I just hate going to the doctor, could you tell?) I also need to see my neurologist and get back on an MS medication. The one I was on worked really well for me, but I'm sick to death of giving myself shots so I want to talk to my neurologist about trying something different.

There's a possibility of me being able to go from working Tuesday through Saturday to working Monday through Friday. But my boss is being kind of a butt about it and is saying that I would have to fill out an application to transfer to that new position. Are you kidding? My schedule has been changed several times based on what is best for the lab, and I've never been asked to fill out an application for that. If he's really going to be a butt about it and make me fill out a job application for a schedule change then I'll probably just keep the schedule I've got. I just wanted off of Saturdays, but it's not worth it if I have to play games just to get a new schedule...

My mom is coming here in a week. We're going to check out apartments, look at furniture stores (I need a new dresser and a new computer desk) and just kind of hang out. My place is a mess...again...but it will be okay. She knows how I am. emoticon Also, a friend from high school who I've reconnected with on Facebook is going to be in town for the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta around the same time that Mom is here. We're going to get together for lunch or coffee or something, and mom will either go with us of visit an art gallery that she's been wanting to see here in town. So my week off (the 2nd through the 8th of October) may be kind of busy, but I think it will be a lot of fun.

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend and that your new week is starting out well. I'm really tired so I think I'm going to go to bed early and try to get a good start on my new work week.

There was much rejoicing!

I was finial able to talk with my doctors nurse today as I have been having some short term memory lose that has been scaring me. I have a appointment with her tomorrow. I have always had a great memory but, this is not like me. Plus I have had no appetite and been really sleepy. More than normal. They now think that I got a concussion from the accident. I didn't realize it as I wasn't check out at the hospital. Plus I am having tingling in my feet still. I see her tomorrow at 5:30pm.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

Happy Monday Everyone!!
My little guy is cutting teeth again. He is happy until he is hurting or he can manage the pain until something else doesn't go the way he wants it and then he is upset! ;-) Sounds like me when I don't feel well. ;-)

Pat so good to hear from you and so hoping you had a wonderful time with your DS and family! I know you were a bit concerned about that visit!

Sandy glad you were able to sleep so well. Hope your hip is feeling better. I am sorry you are still having to work instead of just being able to recuperate.

Nan watching wildlife is so entertaining. I will never forget the first time I saw chipmunks. They are so cute! However like squirrels they can be so destructive. I enjoy watching them anyway. We have a squirrel in our back yard that teases our 2 big dogs to come out and chase it! Drives the dogs crazy. They tear out the door after the squirrel but never get to him before he has climbed high in one of the trees!! The dogs feel great success that they have treed him though!! LOL Gives them all exercise!! Maybe we should take lessons from them and have more fun when we exercise! ;-)

Hope Everyone has a great weekend!

DG - We see a lot of hummingbirds and finches, some cardinals,
at the bird feeders.

Then we see some ground squirrels coming in for the
fallen birdseed.

Always something going on, so enjoyable, Nan

Hi Everyone!! I knew I have been busy for a good while but last night it hit me. I went to bed at 9:30. Slept until 8:30 and have already had a nap today! LOL I am feeling rested!! ;-)

Gail on sewing night we each bring something we are working on ourselves. Sometimes a piece of clothing we are making sometimes something for our home like a quilt or curtains etc. We also meet with a few more girls on Thurs night for craft night. Then we crochet or knit. It started as a tatting lesson. 3 of the girls actually learned to tat and 2 of us dropped out but kept coming but brought our crocheting and still watched the video. ;-) Now it is just whatever project each of us is working on. We chat and work sometimes watch a good movie and work. Keeps us all moving on the projects we have, instead of saying, I'll do it later! ;-) Most of us don't have husbands so it is nice to have company and accomplish something too.

Sandy so glad your hip is not broken, Hope it heals quickly and you soon feel much better! Glad you are following his suggestions and resting too.
Sorry the adjuster was a fast talker. It is frustrating when someone speaks and it is hard to understand or remember all that was said. Hope you can get a replacement quickly and at not too much expense!

Pat sounds like you are really having a wonderful trip! Can't wait to hear about it in detail but then sorry that will mean it is all over. Enjoy every minute of it!

Nana what kind of birds do you see? I love watching them too!

Hope Everyone has a great day!

Well, the car was totaled out. And Boy! was the adjuster a faster talker. I had to call the place that I had my car towed to find out for sure where or not the car was truly totaled or not. He said yes, it was the car is pretty bad and had not looked under the car but to what he did see it is pretty bad and the front tire got most of the damage. Even the place I took it to said the guy was a fast talker.

Had yesterday off so just rested and slept most of the day. I go to work today at 7pm and get off at 11pm for it is a short shift which is good.

Pat - glad that you and Bill are doing good and have fun. Be safe.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Checking in again-we have been moving along and have covered nearly 2500 miles! We are in Rapid City for a couple of days. We toured the Badlands today and did the tourist thing at Wall drug in Wall, SD. When I get home I will try to post blogs of the different areas we visit.
Looking forward to seeing the kids this weekend. Met up with a Spark friend today and we will spend the next 2 days together.

the doctor and he said I do have an injury to my hip from the accident but just not any type of breaks or fractures. It is just that everything is inflamed. So, he has me on meds for that and doing exercises. Just taking it easy today after working the last two day. Really tired.

Hi Everyone!
I will try to catch up on all the posts! My oldest DS and a friend of his that is a plumber have been working on the guest bathroom on their days off. So it is a little this week and a little last week and hopefully it will be finished next week. It will be so nice to have a fully functioning bathroom again!!

Sandy so sorry to hear a guy t-boned you! Goodness! That was not what you needed! So glad you saw the Dr and he did xrays. So glad the guy's insurance is taking care of it. We have been hit a few times when the other driver didn't have insurance. ;-( Hope you get some relief from the pain quickly!

Val sorry you have caught a cold. If you can tolerate zinc, Coldeeze lozenges really help the cold to go away faster. It you take one when you first think you might be getting sick and then one every 4 - 6 hrs like the directions say, it usually kicks it right out. My Aunt's PA told her about them and she told me. I have used them ever since and have had great successes. I always keep it on hand and in my purse to make sure I have it as soon as I begin to feel "iffy".
Hope you got the grocery shopping done. Sorry you can't sleep as much as you feel you need.
Sorry you have black widow spiders in your area. Yuck!!

Gail congratulations to your Grand daughter. Not bragging at all in my "book". ;-) Sharing her wonderful successes are a blessing to us all! Am so proud of her too!
Sorry to hear you bumped another car. Wow that is a lot of money to repair such minor damage. Would the couple be willing to take it to another place to do a cost comparison?
Usually if I exercise regularly I don't have any problem sleeping. When I don't then I do wake up in the middle of the night and have a hard time going back to sleep.

Pat so good of you to check in with us! Glad your trip is going well. What did you see in OK City? Went there 2 yrs ago and saw the Murrah Bldg Museum. It was tough but glad I went. I was with friends and if it hadn't been their idea I wouldn't have gone. Sorry the Science Museum wasn't good and you had to pay so much!

Tonight is sewing night so I had better go get some things done before friends come.

Hugs to all and hope you have a good evening.

Gail, I'm sure the neti pot itself is just fine, it's just me that's defective. I kept on using it for several weeks after it stopped working correctly for me, so if I had a blockage it seems like it should be gone. But whatever, I just stopped using it because something was up with that side of my sinuses. I didn't try it last night but maybe I'll give it a try after work tonight.

There was much rejoicing!

Just a quick note as I am heading back to the doctors as I am having tingling and pins and needles feelings in my feet. Also had a really bad pain in my knee last night at work. The doctor did get my x-ray back and there was no fracture but, he did fine Arthritis. Say I am way to young to have it. I will see what he say when I see him today. I couldn't get in to see my own doctor as she didn't have anything till Oct 5th! I couldn't believe it.

Hope everyone has a great day!

DG: Good to hear from you. Glad you're just busy.

Val: I don't see how the neti can be defective. It's probably that your sinus is stuffed. This has happened to me. You may need to try to do it a few times.

Pat: Where are you now? How is Bill doing?

Maybe I'll try my neti pot tonight. I stopped using it a while ago because I couldn't get it to work right anymore. It works when I use it from one side, I think the right, But then when I try to use it from the other side the water doesn't flow through and come out again. It used to work just fine for me, but then for whatever reason it stopped working right. I think I'm just defective. emoticon Might try it again while I'm trying to get over this darn cold, which has bean absolutely kicking my butt for a few days.

I did a shortened version of my shopping today. Only went to one store, which was WalMart. Got some groceries, got a few health related items, but I just didn't feel well enough to want to take the time to look for everything that I need so I'll just have to do the rest of the shopping that needs to get done next week. (I got all of the things I couldn't live without, so I think I'll survive until next week.)

The only other thing I need to do today is go bring my laundry in from the laundry room, where I saw another darn black widow yesterday. I need to get out there while it's still mostly light outside so that no big nasty spiders can sneak up on me. Better get to it...

There was much rejoicing!

Good Evening:

Well, the repairs would be a little over $1,000 and it would be another $60 for a car rental for 2 days while the vehicle is repaired. It's hard to believe that minor scratches that you have to be close to to scrutinize could cost so much. Ah, well, that' s what insurance is for.

Vali: I think I got your cold. I did the Neti Pot today and am hoping it will be gone by tomorrow.

Enjoy the evening everyone.

Stupid cold is still hanging on but I am feeling a bit better. One way or the other, I've got to get a few things done today so I'm not able to sleep all day the way I'd like to right now. Oh well. Hopefully another good night of rest will help to take care of this stupid thing...

I hope the week is starting out well for all of you. I need to go get my shopping taken care of since I have to go back to work tomorrow. Everyone stay well.

There was much rejoicing!

Val hope your cold gets better soon. I hate nothing worse than a nasty cold. Just have to suffer thru them. Happy that the Tylenol helped lessen the knee pain.

Sandy do take care of yourself. Glad you got to see the dr and getting rest.

Gail don't beat yourself up-years ago I took a complete door off of Bill's car right after we got married!!! Accidents happen.

We had to tour the Oklahoma Memorial in the rain today but very inspiring and touching. We had a nice lunch at Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill with our friends. We took in the Oklahoma Science Museum after lunch and I was very disappointed. In comparison to the museum in STL this one doesn't hold a candle and this cost us $12 each and the one in STL is free!!

Vali - I had called the guys insurance the day it happen> he had called already and let them know. I had a claim # when I went to see the doctor so they are billing the Insurance company directly. So, it won't go though my Insurance at all.

I slept pretty much through the night. My hip is still bothering me. I have gotten up and walked a couple of times but, have been resting most of the time. Just really tired and sore today. I don't go to work till 5:30 tomorrow so that is good.

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.

I need to do some tidying around the place, but I've got a pretty nasty cold right now so I probably won't try to do too much. I'm going to try to rest a lot and then do my shopping tomorrow.

My left knee (the one that's been injured the most) has really been hurting me for a few days. We're supposed to get rain on Tuesday and Wednesday, but I'm really hoping that it's going to come sooner than that. Just since coming home from work last night I've taken naproxin twice, ibuprofen twice, and tylenol once...and nothing is really touching this pain. Well, maybe it is. Maybe it would be 100 times worse if I hadn't taken too many darn pills, but I can't take any more of them for at least 10 hours and I'm still in too much pain to be able to sleep. Guess I'll just fall asleep when my body can't take being awake anymore and hope that this storm hurries up and gets here.

Gail, it's too bad that you bumped that car, but I'm sure it will all be okay in the end. If the scrape to the paint is as slight as you say it is, then I'm sure it will be very easy to fix. Probably just a matter of finding exactly the right color of paint to touch it up with, and then it should be good as new. When I'd owned my new used car for a couple of months, someone in a white car scraped it in the parking lot at work. It's not a huge thing, but there's a slight dent and some white paint on the passenger side door of my car. It's not too big a deal to me since I almost never even see it, but one day I may try to buff it out and repaint it if need be...maybe...

Holy cow! The Tylenol may have finally done the trick! I don't feel the need to cut my left leg off at the knee anymore, maybe I can actually get a little sleep! I'll yak at all of you lovely ladies again soon. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

I bumped another car while parking yesterday and it was so light I was sure there was no damage. I didn't examine that car or my own. When I got out the family was there waiting for me. There was no dent or gashes to their car; just a slight scraping in a very limited area, most of which was wiped away when I lightly rubbed it with my hand. They keep their car well and deserve to have it restored; it was my fault. We go to the dealership Monday to see what it will cost to repair. Depending on the cost, I may pay for it out of pocket. If it's too much I'll use my insurance. Ah, the trials and tribulations of daily life....

I go to bed when I'm tired at night but then get up in the middle of the night, stay up for an hour or two or three and then go back to bed. Don't know what's going on. I don't worry about it; it's just that I know it's better to sleep through the night. I used sleep and wake early, say 5-6:30 am, so this is a divergence. Anyone ever have this happen? If so, what did you do to fix it?

Hope you all enjoy the weekend.

Gail

Sandy: So glad you went to the doctor. Hope you heal quickly.

Val: Any plans for your weekend?

Pat: Glad things seem to be going well for you on your trip. Wow, you sure drove a lot. How many miles did you cover?

Sandy, I'm really glad that you got checked out by a doctor. I hope that you don't have a fractured hip, but if you keep having pain make sure that you go back to see the doctor again. And if you've got anything serious going on then I would think that the other driver's insurance should cover your medical bills. In fact, you should probably submit the cost of this doctor visit to them, too. Bottom line of it is that I really don't want you to have suffered any kind of serious injury, but I definitely want you to be taken care of well if you did.

My work week is over and now I can relax for a couple of days. emoticon I still feel like I have a little bit of a cold, but not as bad as I felt yesterday so I think that going to be earlier than my usual probably helped me a bit. Hooray! I still have a bit of runny nose, but I think maybe I've escaped the worst part of what seems to be going around. That's nice because getting sick just in time for your days off really stinks. (Yes, it has happened to me a number of times in recent years... emoticon )

Anyway, I think I'm going to try to get to bed earlier than normal again tonight. I'll write again tomorrow when I'm awake enough to remember what's going on with everyone.

There was much rejoicing!

I went in this morning and saw the doctor on call and he took X-rays of my back and hip. He gave me muscle relaxes to help me and said to take IBurphen. I didn't want any pain killers.
The is hoping I don't have a fracture hip. I can't lift and weight 5 to 10 lbs for 2 weeks. So, I had to take a note into work. I just really sore today. I am just resting and doing nothing.

Thank you for all the support and well wishes.

Hi Everyone-I agree Sandy-get it checked out. Dr seems to think Bill's neck issue was made worse from the time we got hit in the rear-wasn't bad-didn't do anything to the car but it did jerk us pretty hard and now he has all these issues so do get checked out.
We have made it almost to OKC-will sightsee there tomorrow and head north to Rapid City. Gotta get some sleep-seems all we do is go-go-go!

Good Morning;

Yesterday was a good day. I went to the movies by myself and saw SPY. I really enjoyed it and had a few belly laughs. Also, I had a call from my middle granddaughter yesterday. She started at UNC this fall and called to give me her new address. We chatted for a while and during our conversation I learned that she started as a second semester sophomore. Am I ever impressed and very proud of her achievements. Forgive me for bragging. In the several years that I've been on Spark this was the second time I had done so.

Gail

Sandy: So sorry to hear of your accident. Vali is right; symptoms can show up a day or two later. I was rearended many years ago and wound up with a pinched nerve. I didn't feel it till the next day. It was very bad and the problems with my neck persisted for a few years.

Almost forgot to say that last night I started feeling like I have a cold coming on. Not really awful, but my throat started hurting and one side of the roof of my mouth was having that feeling you get when you're getting sick. I felt a little bit better this morning and as the day went on I sucked on some sugar free menthol cough drops, which helped a bit. But around 7:00 or 8:00 I started getting tired and feeling pretty cruddy again. I'm going to go to bed in a few minutes, which will be about 3 hours earlier than most nights. Hopefully I'll feel better in the morning. Colds aren't generally very serious, but they can be really miserable. emoticon

Oh Sandy, I'm so sorry to hear this. I'm really glad that you're okay, but you just didn't need this. Will your insurance pay for a rental car until your car is fixed or you can buy another one? Is any of this covered by the other driver's insurance? Try to take good care of yourself and be gentle with your body. Sometimes after an accident you can have very painful delayed symptoms so if you start to feel more pain, please talk to a doctor. emoticon

I got a rent a car and the car is in the shop. I am fine just sore . I am going to see the doctor tomorrow. Just glad that I don't work this weekend. I am going tot rest the rest of this weekend.

I hope that everyone has a Wonderful weekend!

HI Everyone!
Sandy glad you have 3 days off. You need a good rest! I don't get a flu shot. They are very high in mercury and people that take them have a much higher risk of having Alzheimers. I haven't ever had the flu worse than those that have had the flu shot in my family and sometimes I haven't had it at all.
Glad you are getting rain!! We sure could use some!

Pat we are missing you but hoping you are having a wonderful time!! Thanks for checking in!! I didn't know there was a real Ruby Falls!! What state is it in? There is a line from a movie my family quotes about Ruby Falls. ;-) I had to chuckle when you said you had been there.

Sandy I will post a pic of him on my Spark Page. So far his tooth isn't showing much but the skin in broken on his guy. Don't guess it will be too long until it is really showing though.

Hope Everyone has a great weekend!

Pat: Stay safe and have a wonderful road trip. I'll be thinking of you.

DG: Would you post a photo of your GS? I'll bet he's cute as can be when he smiles with that one tooth showing.

Val: So thoughtful of you to agree to switch with your co-worker.

Sandy: I think of you so much and worry about you. Please get all the rest you can.

I got the materials from the Rx portion of my 2016 health insurance. The annual maximum out of pocket is going from $320 to $360. OK I understand. The problem is that aside from the generics where the copay is remaining at $5, the other tiers are going up to a % of the cost. Tier 2 is 20% and tier 3 is 40%. I'll be seeing my primary care physician next month and will see if he can make all my prescriptions generic. Thankfully there is that $360/year maximum out of pocket.

Busy day today - over 10K in steps. Bill didn't go down to Ruby Falls and glad they refunded the money for his ticket. Didn't think he could do the mile walk and all the steps but he did most of Rock City.
On the road again tomorrow.

Today is my Friday and then I have 3 days off. I have a Doctors appt. on Friday only to get a shot for my hives. Which will be once a month. Then I go pick up my Meds, then to the bank then to the store. Oh ya, I will also get a Flu shot too. Have you all got your Flu shot yet?

Pat - Glad that you are on the road. Be safe.

Val - Glad you were able to change days for your vacation and all works out better with your Mom's plans.

Hope you all have a great day. It is raining here and it looks like it might rain the whole weekend. Great for the plants.

Pat, I'm glad you were able to get out on the road. Hope Bill keeps on feeling well throughout your trip.

I changed my vacation request for a week off early next month so that a friend of mine can have time off when her parents are in town. Turns out, a few days earlier works out better for my mom so everything will work out great. I'm really tired so I'm going to shut this contraption down and go to bed. See you all tomorrow.

Hi to everyone. We are on the road. Had no internet last night so checked mail on my cell and didn't do much on here. Tonight I have internet but not wanting to spend a lot of time but wanted to let everyone know we made it safely to Chattanooga. Had a long day of driving. We are trying to avoid the interstate so came up US 27 which is mostly 4 lane

Happy Hump Day!! Hope Pat is having such a good time and making good progress on her trip.

Gail I think it is hard to stay in touch with family far away. Kids don't want to be bothered with older family members. I'd love to stay in touch with my niece and her 2 children and we do a bit by fb but not real correspondence. It is sad because the kids aren't really going to know me.
Thanks for explaining about the New Years meal.
I did get the recipe for the stuffing. Thank you! I passed it on the my DD and Ddil. They do the cooking and are always wanting new ideas, especially tried and true ones. Sorry, didn't you get my reply Spark mail?
I can understand wanting to be alone for Yom Kippur. Isn't the Atonement when they used to do sacrifices for

Val hope the apartments are just what you are looking for!

I saw a cute picture on fb. It was a baby in a diaper with red kiss marks all over him. Before his bath I did that with my Grandson today with a tube of red lip stick that was my Mom's. It is cute! I will have to send it to my brother and sister, they will enjoy knowing it was Mom's lip stick too. Neither of them have been able to come and see the baby in person. I don't know if we will be able to go to see them or not. It is hard to get time to travel together. Only my oldest son was married when my parents passed (just 5 weeks apart) so we all traveled for the double funeral. So that Ddil has seem family that we don't see often.

Hugs to all and hope you have a great day!

Val: I'm so excited for you in your apartment search. It would be fun to be there with you to house hunt.

Many years ago I went to services on Yom Kippur and cried through the whole thing. It is not only the day of atonement, but a day of remembering those who have died. In my case at the time it was my mother and father. Long story short, i don't go any more. I also don't fast. I do sit with my thoughts and reflect on my transgressions. I prefer to be alone. It is also traditional to light a candle for each loved one who has died.

Both of my grandchildren who are Jewish called me last night. ( I have 2 who consider themselves Jewish and two who are Catholic.) We had a good visit. My granddaughter who now lives in Chicago always gets back to me within 24 hours if I email or call. I'm close with the ones who grew up in Madison, and though I dearly love the ones from NC, I hardly speak with or see them. I'm delighted the family from NC will be here with me for Thanksgiving. I used to write to the girls in NC every week for a few years but almost never got a response, so I stopped. About the only time I hear from them is a thank you note for a gift. Their dad, my son, and I speak a couple of times a month. I'm happy about that. I've got a great relationship with both my SIL and DIL, something that is truly a blessing.

Any of you hear from your relatives who live far away? If so, what is your secret?

G.

Gail, I used to have a better handle on which of the Jewish holidays is which. I guess I haven't been studying the things I used to for a while. Anyway, I hope that your Rosh Hashana meal with your friends was a nice one. What will you do for the day of atonement? I know that there are many ritual days in the Jewish faith, though obviously I haven't studied them in quite some time. Do you do anything special for Yom Kippur or do you just spend it with yourself and your thoughts? My aunt is Jewish but she and my uncle never really celebrated much of her Jewish faith until recent years so I have never been exposed to much of it. Anyway, I hope that this special time of the year brings peace into your life.

I didn't get out to do much of anything on my days off this week but I'm going to try really hard to get enough rest this week that I'll be able to deal with getting up in the morning next Monday and going to see those apartment complexes I found. I'm finally starting to feel motivated about this moving thing, so I'd better take advantage of that while it lasts. emoticon I hope that the week is starting out really well for all of you.

There was much rejoicing!

DG: The meal always starts with dipping bread or apple slices in honey. That is symbolic of the wish for a sweet new year. The dinner could be most anything. She made chicken soup with matzo balls, pot roast, peas with mushrooms, and a noodle pudding. For dessert she had honey bread. The new year is a happy time, but as I said before it is the prelude of several days of introspection where you reflect on those you have hurt and you make amends. It culminates on Yom Kippur, the day of atonement, the day you right your wrongs.

Hope this explains things.

BTW, did you get the stuffing recipe I sent you via Spark Mail?

Hello Friends! Another busy day it is!!

Val how nice to find 3 apartment complexes to choose from. Hope you get to see them soon so you can get on a list so when one comes available at the time you want it.
I can sympathize with your Mom. My oldest son and his wife have lost both of their babies and still have empty arms after 12 yrs of marriage. Youngest DS and his wife are the ones that live with me and they have my only grandchild. He is about 10 mths old. They expect their 2nd baby in January. For many years I have loved others grandchildren. ;-)

Pat will be praying you have a wonderfully fun and safe time! Sorry Bill did not get his machine.

Gail what did the traditional New Year dinner menu consist of? I hope you had a good time?

Sandy it is wonderful to spend time with my children. 3 live close but the 4th is about 5 hrs away. It is a temporary position and in a part of the tsate I have never seen so I am hoping to go visit him sometime before he transfers to another part of the State.

Hope Everyone has a great week!!

Vali - So happy that you found a couple place that you like close to you.

DG - Glad you got to spend time with the kids this passed weekend.

Gail - happy that you were able to spend time with Family and friends for the Jewish holiday.

Pat - I am so sorry that the C-Pap machine didn't show up in time for Bill before your vacation.

Well I am going in a little early today. I was to go in at 5:30pm but, will go in at 4pm instead. XDH has passed his Physical for part of his license. So, he all set for his interview tomorrow. I really hope he gets this job. It would really help him.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Val: You sound so excited about apartment shopping. It will be fun and I can only imagine how happy you will be.

This holiday is Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. As for any new year, it's a new beginning. Yom Kippur, which is in 10 days, is the day of atonement when we fast for 24 hours and make amends. We must right our wrongs and ask forgiveness to those we may have hurt. Between now and Yom Kippur I will reflect on my actions this past year, and try to do better for next year. It is a very somber period of introspection....very heavy and can be difficult.

Val you sound so excited-glad to hear that. Now it should be fun to check out the apartments and decide which one best suits your needs. It will be great to have more room too. emoticon

DG so glad you are getting this time to spend with DS and his family. It is great that you are getting some projects taken care of. Great trade off-win, win for both of you.

Sandy sounds like the new shoes are a treat to the feet! People do not realize how much having good shoes mean to their foot health. Got my finger and toes crossed that XDH does well on his interview.

Gail hope you had a great dinner with your friend tonight. Great that you got to attend the dinner with them.

Well, DH got the shot for his pinched nerve and we are praying that it will relieve most of the pain for the trip. It isn't totally gone but is a lot less so that is good. The new bi-pap machine did not arrive so I called the company and let them know how disappointed I was. The gal apologized but I told her apologies were absolutely useless. Made perfectly clear that they needed to cancel the order as we would not be paying anything to them nor would Medicare since he couldn't be in compliance since it would be sitting here and we would be gone! I called his dr and they will work with us to find someone else when we return.
We pretty much have everything packed and the car partially loaded. I took part of Abbie's stuff to Barb today and will take the rest tomorrow morning and we will drop her off just before we leave.
If I am not on here much it is because we are having a blast. Will try to check in from time to time and pray all of you stay healthy and have a great time during the next 2 months.

I have found 3 apartment complexes in areas I would like living in, but I have not yet been able to actually take a look at any of them. They all have apartments that are larger than my current one but cost about the same amount. One of them even has some 3 bedroom apartments, which would be really nice for me. I could have an extra bedroom for a guest (my mom) to stay in, have a computer room, and even move my dining room table into the dining room instead of using that as my computer room. If they have a 3 bedroom available it will be $200 or $300 more than what I'm paying right now, but I've worked it out and I could actually pay up to $400 more than what I'm paying right now. If I paid that much every month I'd have to be a lot more careful with my finances, but it could be done. Now I just have to go take a look at the apartments and see if that one complex will have a 3 bedroom available in February...

I'm actually getting a little bit excited about moving, which is a rare thing for me. After I move to whatever new place, I'm going to buy a new dresser for my bedroom. The one I've got was a freebie that was left behind by someone living in a house I rented 10 or 12 years ago, and it's just about dead. I'm sure it will last until I move, but I will need to go shopping to find a new one. If I can get the 3 bedroom apartment I'll buy another TV to have in my living room since I'll actually be able to use it as a living room instead of as a half living room, half dining room. This is really good. I'm actually feeling excited about finding a new place and moving, who would have thought that would ever happen?

Today I got up earlier than I usually do on my days off so that I could get online and buy tickets to see Janet Jackson (sister of the late Michael Jackson) next May. The presale for those tickets started today, but it was only open to people with a Citibank credit card, which I just happen to have. (That's the reason why I was the one who had to buy the tickets.) I got 8 tickets, which is the limit of how many you can buy at one time. There are 6 of us who will be going, plus most likely one girlfriend, and I'm sure that I'll have no problem selling the 8th ticket if nobody else wants to go with us. This is all really exciting because really big acts don't come to Albuquerque that often. Well, I've seen a few really big country artists at this amphitheater, but never a really big rock artist like this one. And we don't even have to sit in the grass the way we did when we saw Tim McGraw...

Anyway, that was my big deal for the day. After I got the tickets I went back to bed for a few extra hours. (One of the privileges of being old and not working on Mondays...) I hope that the week is starting out really well for the rest of you.

Pat, I'm really glad that Bill's fever is back down into reasonable territory. I hope that you guys have a really great trip.

DG, I'm glad that you got to see your grandkids over the weekend. Neither my brother nor I have any kids so my poor mom is never going to have grandkids, which makes her kind of sad. Luckily she lives in a retirement community so she gets to play with other people's grandkids pretty often.

Sandy, I'm really happy to hear that XDH has finally accepted your situation and the fact that you will not be getting back together. It's sad that things had to end this way, but it's definitely time for him to get a job and move out so that you can begin to move on with your life.

Gail, having the traditional Yom Kippur meal with friends sounds really nice. Whether we are Christian or Jewish, taking time out to contemplate our need to atone and to try to live our lives in a way that is pleasing to God is a very important thing for us to do. And spending time with friends is always a good thing, too. I hope that you spend a very nice time reflecting on life with good friends.

I hope that everyone has a really great week.

There was much rejoicing!

Morning! Hope Everyone has a great week!! :-)

Gail I love the holidays you are sharing with us! How nice that you could go out to dinner and have a nice time!! Also glad you were invited for the traditional meal too. Hope you had a lot of good and happy memories! Is that the reason sacrifices used to be made in the Temple?

Pat so thankful that Bill was better yesterday morning and all is well. Praying things go well with his shot today and that it does relieve the pain. DS had a lot of success with the Chiropractor.

I had a wonderful weekend with my children!! What a wonderful celebration we had for DS's birthday and finishing his Master's. We are so proud of him. He started grad school, got engaged and married and had a first baby and 2nd is on the way!! ;-) He has accomplished it all successfully!! His Sweet wife knew what she was getting into and never complained. But Oh!! Are we all enjoying having his attention and involvement in life again! He even fixed us all pancakes for supper last night!! ;-)

Am getting some home repairs done to the hall bathroom shower. DS can do part of it and has a friend that is a fireman but a plumber on the side that will help with the actually plumbing part. So glad to be getting this fixed!!

Hope Everyone has a good day!!

Pat - So glad that Bill is doing better today.

Gail - You sound really good and very up beat these days.

DG - It seem that Fall has come early. We are expecting more rain here today.

Vali - How is the apartment hunting going?

Well, I got my New shoes and they are much better than my other ones. My others shoes I had wore the soles down to nothing. So it was time for new ones.

Good News! XDH has an interview with Waste Management on the 16th of Sept. Everyone says prayer and keep your fingers, toes and anything else crossed that he will get the job. Then he can get a place or himself and can move on.

I go into work at 5:30pm tonight and don't get off till 11pm. Not a long shift. But, we sure are busy these days.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Good Morning:

Last night at sundown was the Jewish New Year. My daughter SIL and I went to dinner to celebrate. In the past we had a celebration dinner at my home, but with the kids living out of town and Vic gone....

A neighborhood friend who I met through hospice is having a New Year dinner tonight and she invited me. She's having all the traditional foods so it will be like a walk down memory lane. I'm looking forward to it.

This period is a time of reflection for us. We think of all the things things we need to make right and must do so, It culminates in Yom Kippor, the day of atonement. A very heavy time of year, a time when we must face our shortcomings.

Sending you all hugs,

Gail

Pat: So glad Bill is better.

DG: Will email you the recipe. It's really a winner.

So thankful that this morning when DH woke up his temperature was 98.3! Thank You Lord!
Went to church this morning and worked on more getting ready for our trip this afternoon. I am 90% ready-mostly the last minute stuff now and should finish that up tomorrow. DH goes for his shot in the afternoon and we are to go out to eat with friends tomorrow evening which is good as the food is pretty much gone! What little I have will go to Barb tomorrow!

Happy Sunday Friends!!
Has anyone ever seen Annie's Point? It has become one of my DD's and my favorite!! We are watching it this afternoon. Makes me feel like taking a trip. LOL

Gail you are welcome for the clarification. I'd like to have your recipe, thanks!!
Oh My!! Reminds me of a friend that was snow skiing, making the last run of the day before supper time. She realized she had to go to the bathroom as she got off the lift at the top. She thought she could make it down but had to stop. She thought if she leaned against a tree like she was sitting she could manage without getting any clothes wet. But her skis slipped and she went the rest of the way down the slope *bare*. The next day her husband couldn't get her on the slopes again. She was afraid someone would recognize her and she knew she'd die!! So she sat by the fire in the lodge. A man was also there with a casted leg. She asked what happened and he said you won't believe this but yesterday a naked lady was skiing down the slope! I lost my balance and broke my leg!!

Pat so sorry things are not working out well. For all the work you did ahead of time to be prepared, it is crazy you have had so little help from those you are paying to help you and Bill. Hope you do get that new machine before your trip. Hope Bill's fever is gone and he is much better and you don't catch it!

Sandy so glad the hives haven't been so bad. Hope they totally go away. Glad you can get the medication with that assistance!! That is wonderful!!
Fall is coming early here too! It is just lovely outside!!

Val hope you find that very special place to move.

Hope Everyone has a great evening! Hope to see you tomorrow!

Oh, Val, I meant to say that I've continued to look for places for a winter getaway. I really want a place that will be sunny and in the upper 70s lower 80s, so, in the US, Florida and Hawaii seem to fit the bill. Another alternative would be a long cruise. All of these would be so expensive unless I could get a deal renting a condo from someone who is trying to settle an estate or, for whatever reason, someone who isn't using theirs. The other alternatives are to 1) see if a cruise company would give me a special deal if I were to go for a month, or 2) to return to Cancun. There is new management in Cancun and I don't know what they would charge me or if they would give me a deal if I went for a month. I'll have to check it out.

Val:

You sound so cheery and that does my heart good. You are so smart to slowly move from one apartment to another. It's a luxury but so glad you can afford it. Tell me though, do you have a timebank or other group in your area that will help you move? Our Dane County TimeBank is wonderful and we can usually find people who will help. With the TimeBank you pay with time, not money. I think I've spoken about this group before.

Here's a joke for today. Can't take credit for this one. Someone on another team posted it and I thought it was cute.
------------------

People often complain about the police, but you rarely hear about the positive things they do, such as this incident involving a biker and a frozen carburetor.

Last January on a bitterly cold winter's day, a North Dakota State Trooper on patrol came upon a motorcyclist who was stalled by the roadside. The biker was swathed in heavy protective clothing and wearing a full-face helmet to protect the face from the cold weather.

“What’s the matter? asked the Trooper

"Carburetor's frozen," was the terse reply.

"Pee on it. That'll thaw it out."

"I can't," said the biker.

"OK, watch me closely and I'll show you." The Trooper unzipped and promptly warmed the carburetor as promised.

Moments later the bike started and the rider drove off, waving.

A few days later, the local State Troopers’ office received a note of thanks from the father of the motorcyclist.

It began: "On behalf of my daughter Jill..."

Pat, isn't that just the way of things sometimes? You're getting ready for a trip so someone in the group has to get sick. emoticon I really hope that Bill is feeling much better very soon. Not trying to be rude or anything but the older you get, the more serious illnesses that involve high fevers become. If his illness goes on for very long you should get him to an urgent care to have someone check him out. I do hope it turns out to be nothing very serious.

I've been driving home from work by way of some areas I'd like to live in for the last few days.I've found some complexes that look pretty nice and looked them up online. Seems like all of the places I've driven by are larger than the apartment I live in, but either about the same price or just a little bit more expensive. Maybe one of these Mondays I'll try to take a look at some of them. I don't really need my mom to come help me with that, but I'm going to let her keep on thinking that I do because I'm always really happy to have her visit. emoticon I've decided that I have enough money in my savings that I think I'm going to pay rent on two place for a month and give myself a whole month to move. Most of my moves in the past have been really rushed and I'm just not interested in doing it that way this time.

Gail, have you found a place where you can spend part of the winter yet? If not, you might want to check into the Tucson area. It's really nice there...except for the overwhelming heat in the summer...(If it's hot enough to scare an Albuquerque native then you know that it's HOT. emoticon But in the late fall, winter, and early spring it's a really wonderful place to be. I would love to be able to spend the winter there and then find a place to spend the summer where it's not as hideously hot as it is here and in Tucson. Maine might be nice...Anyway, if you're looking to get out of the cold during the winter, Tucson might be just the place for you.

I'm so happy that my work week is finally over. emoticon I hope that you gals all have a fabulous weekend. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

Thanks Gail. Bill is already in bed-figure the best medicine right now is sleep! Fever seems to be holding at 100 but he doesn't feel hot to the touch so that is good. Can't figure out what caused this.

Good one Gail-hadn't heard or read that one before!!!

Never one to let things slide or go easily, dear DH is holding true to form-about 4 am he woke me up shaking the bed so much it rattled! He was having cold shills and was burning up. I turned off the ceiling fan and got him an undershirt and he finally quit shaking so much and we both slept fitfully for a couple more hours. I got up about 7 and took his temperature and it was 102.4! I let him go back to sleep but kept waking him every hour and it has dropped all day long and is now at 100.0. I pray it is just a 24 hr virus and he will be better tomorrow. Me, I am exhausted. I got Buttons and had her till just a few minutes ago. I have worked more on packing, I made the unrolled cabbage soup and have taken it to several people (Barb, Hilda and another friend who was to have surgery on her carotid arteries on Mon but now cancelled as her blood isn't right and she could bleed out!) and I sent Larry home with a container. I ate some for my lunch and have enough left for another meal. Hoping to get Bill to eat a bit for supper. I did get him to eat toast and applesauce for breakfast and he has been sipping water and gator aide. I haven't given him any medicine as I didn't want to mask anything. Told him if it didn't go down he was going to urgent care!
Say a prayer that he is well by Mon so he can get the shot for his pinched nerve and go on our trip. All this work and planning could be for naught!

Sandy so glad you were able to get help from the drug maker. That is emoticon

Gail, I push the chops down into the dressing and bake uncovered. I like my dressing a bit crusty so I don't make it too thick in the pan but it is still under the chops in the pan. They always turn out nice and moist and you can cut them with a fork when I do this.

Well, thought we had the lost dr visit in after this morning as Bill had to see his oncologist and we got a good report there-his platelets are way down. Dr tries to keep him below 400 and today it was 139! After we got out of there, I dropped him at the donut shop so he could kibitz with his "buddies". While the guys did their thing, Vickie & I took some Coke Zero back to Publix-we just bought it and it was already flat. They didn't give us any static so that was a quick fix.
I have worked on packing and Bill is pretty much done - I just need to try on jeans and I will be done also. I think it is just the last minute things that I need to pack now.
Bill's ortho doc called this afternoon and said she had finally talked to the dr who owns the imaging center where he went for his MRI and they both agree that he has a pinched nerve that is causing all of his pain. She called the pain dr and they are going to work him in Mon afternoon for a shot soooo hoping this will make him pain free or at least in a lot less pain than he has been! He called the folks on the breathing machine again since they never called us back yesterday. He could not reach Donna again (we are wondering if that is just a name they give one) but talked to another lady who said she would see if she could get it to us STAT but nothing. They have a local office so should be easy to deliver one. I am not holding my breath on this one. We started trying to get this 2 months ago and I am very disappointed with this supplier for Medicare. We will see his pulmonary doc when we return and have him recommend another supplier and start all over. He will go 2 months without anything as we are not taking his big old one-it isn't operating properly and is so big and bulky - it was obsolete when he was given it! They should never have sent it out, but we didn't know that at the time.

DG - I haven't had the hives for a while now or I should say not as bad since I started the new meds. But, I have been approved for the Zolair shot and the program. My insurance co-pay for the serum was $1500.00 a bottle and I have to get a shot once month. The people who make the serum have a program and I was able to qualify for it. So, I just pay $ 5.00 per bottle for one year and then they will renew it if I need to continue.

Worked last but, was called in early instead of 6:30pm to start I went in at 3pm. Boy, was I tired when I got home. I have today off and then I do a 6 day work week then off for 2 days. I am just relaxing all day today and not doing any thing.

Hope you al have a great day!

Gail with just the 2 of us, I use stovetop but I add to it-I use chicken broth instead of water for the moisture, I chop onion and celery and cook that in the broth, then stir in the box of stovetop and I bake it for an hour. I brown the chops and then put them in the dressing and bake (same hour) all at once. They are always moist and tender-they cut with a fork. I used to make my dressing from scratch but....just so much easier to make it semi-homemade anymore!!!

I got the last of my trimming done at home. Abbie got her haircut. Bill saw the ortho doc and I am a bit disgusted. She sent us somewhere different than where we usually go for the MRI and then she wasn't happy with the interpretation of the result and wanted to talk to the dr. Said what she was seeing was different but we sat and waited for over 90 min and the radiologist never returned her call! So now she is referring him to a pain dr but know that we will not get in before our trip. She still thought that therapy should have helped but it didn't. Some days he is in a lot of pain others it isn't so bad so praying he can handle the trip ok. She mentioned a neck brace but then didn't follow up on that. Last visit she said she wanted him to have Prostiva and today she didn't mention it. I am rather happy as I really didn't want him getting an injection just before we took off. So....please say a little prayer that he can handle all this riding and not be in horrible pain. We started seeking help back in May as we thought that would be plenty of time to get him the help and here we are no further along. Still no bi-pap today and when we called the gal who has been calling, she didn't return our call. Not looking promising there either!! They really don't want to get me riled up-if that thing arrives while we are gone I am going to go ballistic!
Went to watch V&S's GD play volleyball tonight and they won. They have a 4-1 record.
Larry got out of the hospital about 9 PM yesterday and this afternoon he took Diane to the hospital and we heard she has had a heart attack! We will get Buttons again tomorrow. Glad we are still around to help out for a few days. Keep them in your prayers also.

DG: Thanks for the clarification. I've got a great recipe if you're interested. I've used the same recipe for decades and there is never any left.

Hi Ladies,
A slight cold is going through the household. thankfully I haven't gotten it yet. Baby seems to be fine and DD is taking is easy. Hope it moves on out quickly and no more get it. It is that time of year!

Sandy glad you got to sleep so well! How are the hives? Have the lessened? I so hope so!
Great that you are getting so much done and ready a head of time!

Pat glad things are coming together for you trip. Sorry the bi-pap machine still hasn't arrived. Hope it does but then DH doesn't have time to adjust to it. Hope the old one will last him a bit longer.

Gail - dressing is the southern word for stuffing as in turkey and Thanksgiving. :-) Reminds me of my children being asked when they were young why they didn't have a southern accent. They told their friends they had "Yankee" parents!! LOL True but we did get here as quickly as we could!! ;-)

Hope all are well and have a great day!
