Gail that was quite a bargain on glasses! The cheapest they advertise around here is $79 for 2 pr and most people are never satisfied with them! With all the eye issues I am dealing with I won't even tell you what mine cost!! emoticon

Sandy so sorry that XDH is not out of your home and life. Tough love is hard isn't it. I do pray he will be on the wagon and you can get him out by the end of Sept. Sorry this has caused a problem with your aunt. I am sure she is very concerned for you.

I walked early and it was very humid and no air moving. So far we have not gotten any rain today-it seems to be pretty much missing us. I got all the important papers I want to take with us together (last labs, health care proxy, living will, etc) and now have that ready for our trip. DH had PT at 11 or that is what I had written in my book but they said he wasn't due until 1 but they went ahead and worked him in and we didn't get out of there until almost 1.
I have been on the phone with the folks about DH's bi-pap machine. Now they are saying they need more paperwork! I told them it either shipped this week or forget it because we would not get it before we left and our date to leave was not being changed! I called his dr and they have talked to them and now getting the dr involved and she will get back to me. We started this bad in mid July which should have been plenty of time to get a new machine but I am not sure if it is the supplier or medicare or what but I am feeling this is absolutely ridiculous! If I understood them right, they are wanting him to go backwards now and go on a c-pap and he has been on the bi=pap for over 5 yrs so don't understand that one. Things are going good, labs are staying in line, we take in the computer chip to verify he is using it every 6 mo so WHAT IS THE PROBLEM???? Oh yeah, dr wants him to have an updated machine as his is obsolete and should never have been issued 5 yrs ago as it had already been phased out BUT we didn't know that being newbies then! I guess I got a bit irate today but was emphatic - ship it this week or forget it because we won't be here to get it!

Went to the eye doctor and everything looks great. They did a vision test to see if I needed glasses. The doctor says I'm on the cusp, but that it would be a bit more comfortable to wear glasses. I took that option. After that visit I went to Eyemart Express. They are having a sale, 2 pairs of single lens glasses for $20. I got one for reading and another for distance. What was unbelievable was that there was no tax! I'll get them later or tomorrow.

Gail

Sandy: So sorry to hear about your latest problems. I can' t wait for all this to be over and see you happy and content. You sure don't need stress in your life.

Well, I have been without power for a day. We got our power back on late yesterday. We had 60 mph winds come through and pull up trees. We had 2 trees fall over on our street. One fell on our Mail boxes, so we couldn't get to them till late Sunday. Then other fall against a house but, no damage. I was at work during the wind storm. We had had rain before. It looked like a tornado came through by the time I got off work.

As for XDH he had no place to live as his sponsor could not keep him at his place any longer and with all the kids coming back to go to school there was no places open apartments. He did get really drunk one night and black out and went off on his brother. His brother set him straight. It scared XDH so bad that he has not had a drink since again. He is also looking for a job. Lom=ng story short he is staying with me till the end of the month. He signed an agreement and if he breaks it he will go to jail. His brother was right there when I talked to him and told him. I explained this is just till the end of September NO LONGER.

Now, My Aunt is not happy and is all over me about that but, I can't put a person on the street. I am not that type of person. She is cut and dry about thing like that. I have made it clear that if there is any Alcohol he will be out and I will call the police. So, her and I are not talking right now due to a letter she wrote me that was none to nice. I am waiting for things to cool down before I answer it. I know she is worried and she just lost my Uncle. Plus she think XDH is like the guys she has been hearing about on TV. I am the only one left in her family so she is worried I do understand but, she is going about it the wrong way. As I have made my mind up and I have started moving forward. XDH understands that now. I have explained things to him in front of his brother.

Hope that everyone is having a good week.

DG, if you knew me and the gals I work with you'd know that the boob hat was bound to be a big hit at our party. None of us is very shy...(The gal I gave it to told me that her husband saw it and said "the nipple's the wrong color!" I told her that it was what they had in a newborn size...and there are some things you just don't ask your friends, even the good ones.... emoticon )

Hello!!
The baby shower was fun. Nice we did play all the cutsie little games but had really nice snacks and watched the Mama open the gifts. Then we could visit with people we knew that we don't see often. It was a large shower with a mix of her church friends, long time friends, co-workers and friends from their neighborhood now that they have a home of their own. So it was nice to talk with folks I knew but don't see them often anymore since our kids are grown.

TXLynn agree whole heartedly about Texans paying for a lot of Katrina. A lot of folks came here expecting handouts and rent free homes! What? and How long do you expect the help? and You have never paid taxes here? People are strange for sure! Used to be a day when folks didn't want to take "Charity" but wanted to pay their own way at least work for what they were given. Not so anymore the pendulum has swung the other way!

Pat I am so glad I am getting help too! With cooler weather I am looking forward to getting some projects done!
Glad Erika fizzled out and you are safe! Hope everything falls in line for your trip and you don't have any worries when you leave home!
No guess you don't have too much chance of going to a baby shower in your neighborhood. Maybe someone from church though?

Gail good idea to shop early. I try to get things when I see them on a good sale and hang on to them til I need them. I have already found some good Christmas gifts. Need to make my list so I know what I have when the time has come to purchase for those I haven't found gifts early. ;-)

Val just recently saw a baby hat like that! It is cute but I wouldn't be brave enough to give it to someone, well not at an event, maybe privately!! ;-) Have a good vacation!!

Good Night All!!

Haven't been to a baby showers in years. Of course, living where we do not much likelihood of that either. emoticon

So far we aren't getting the heavy rains that were predicted and within 24 hours we should be out of danger of even that. However, now we have another wave coming this way so will wait to see what happens with it.

The last baby shower I went to was for a coworker who was having her first child. I went to WalMart and all I could find for newborns were cute little things in colors for girls. So I bought her a couple of things for a newborn baby girl and told her that I had just guaranteed that she would have a boy. (With both of her kids she and her husband didn't want to know ahead of time what she was having.) Well as it turns out, I was right...she had 2 boys. (When she had her second son I found the funniest thing online. I gave her a boob hat. You put it on the baby's head while he's feeding and his head looks like a really big boob, nipple and all. We all got a big laugh out of both of her baby shower gifts from me.)

I've been having really weird arthritis pains in one of my fingers. I'm really tired of all these signs that I'm aging. Darn it, the little girl inside of me is still just a 5 year old and she just doesn't get all of this. emoticon Anyway, I didn't really have anything much to say today except that I wanted to tell you about the baby shower gifts because they amused me. I think I'm going to try to go get a couple of things done. Enjoy the end of your weekend. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

Lynn: Do you work at a jail or prison? If so, what do you do?

DG: I haven't been to a baby shower in ages. I used to go to TJ Maxx months before a baby was due and shop for gifts. Came out with some very cute things at good prices. I also used to knit baby outfits. Boy, it's been such a long time!

TNR is one solution for feral cats but I agree people are the problem, not critters.

Hey, I'm glad you Floridians dodged the storm. I'm reading a lot of Katrina anniversary stories. It doesn't seem possible it has been a decade. Texas is still paying the price for Louisiana on that one, believe it or not. Only a couple of weeks ago, one of my inmate-students was comparing Angola with Texas prisons (this is his 4th visit) and he told me he had been an evacuee who could never "afford" to go back. I told him I would see if the warden couldn't come up with bus fare this time.

Y' all keep it simple.

Val do hope you get to do some fun things on your vacation. Will you try to scout out apartments for your move next year? Do you have any idea of where you want to move? How is kitty doing?

DG so glad that you are going to get help with cleaning out that garage. I know it will be a relief to get it done. Many hands make the work load light.

Gail wish you could send us some of that cooler weather.

Tx Lynn-I just went and got more medicine for Abbie and now her ears are red so...guess it if off to the vet in the coming week as I do not want to leave her with an ear infection. You are right, it is a responsibility we take on and we have to do right by our furbabies. I just wish more people would be responsible and spay and neuter their pets so we didn't have so many that have to be euthanized. It is such a pity and one that could be easily resolved IF folks would not allow their pets to breed like they do. It isn't the animals fault-it is the owners.
We have an issue in our community now-several stray cats have been dumped and we had a batch of 6 kittens from one momma that wasn't spayed. We found homes for several of them but one wiley kitten has eluded capture and hoping it is a male so we don't get more kittens. We try to find homes for them but if we can't, they go to a no kill shelter. We captured a male cat a few years ago and tamed it and now my DB and his wife have him spoiled rotten!
I got about half of our back flower bed trimmed and will easily finish that next week. I worked on my checkbook and making sure I list everything I have to pay while we will be gone and making sure we have enough $$$ for everything!! I also made potato salad and deviled eggs for supper and we had a burger with no bun.
Vickie and I worked on the park's budget this afternoon and I have to type it all up and send it out to the other members of the finance committee. We want to have things pretty much set before our 9/15 meeting as we plan to leave immediately after that.
Looks like we have dodged the bullet and Erika has fallen apart. However, we expect above average rain thru Tues. We got about 1/2 inch late today.

Peanut and Bitsee's annual "ordeal by vet" is over and their doggie mom-that's me-is $450 poorer. Well, that's what I signed on for. The girls are 3 year-old rescues from Harlingen, Texas, one of the largest "kill" facilities in the country. A Chihuahua rescue group found and fostered them until they could be adopted. Their mom was skin and bones, and the 4 baby girls were hours old. Mom was full blood but it's hard to tell what else the girls are, possibly pug, and mutt.

What a year we are all having, fires on the West Coast, floods in Texas followed by drought, and now tropical storms on the East Coast. Hurricane season is about half over I think and I know it won't cool off here until we get a storm in the Gulf. Stay safe everyone and get your emergency supplies ready-tank full of gas, bottled water, ready-to-eat food, and a couple hundred in cash are at the top of my list.

Hello Friends,
I had a nice post ready yesterday and hit post message and it told me it couldn't accept my HTML notations and deleted the whole thing!! Aye, aye, aye!! So here we go, I will try again. ;-)
I love Saturday mornings!! Mommy is home and the extra pair of hands sure is helpful! The baby is so cute when he sees her come out of her room. It is like do I see who, I think I see? Sure makes her feel good and the rest of us too. Thankfully she is not morning sick anymore (just very tired) and she is feeling the baby move!! Such fun days!!

Gail I do believer Autumn is here. Hard to believe it for this far south but there are changes and the high heat isn't coming back. I am sure we will have a week or 2 of Indian Summer but not weeks on end of triple digits like we usually are still having!
I am so thankful DS have volunteered to help with the garage! DH was going to make it an exercise gym so there are some weights and a bell bar and a large piece of exercise equipment there that can go. None of the boys seem interested as they have other exercise routines.
Wild fires are scary. I had never had them very close to me until 3 summers ago. Oh My, hope I never experience anything like that again. Just going outside and smelling the smoke and seeing the dusky, smoky skies is frightening.

Pat praying Erika doesn't hit hard and stays a tropical storm.
How nice Abbie could stay with Tommy for a bit so they can get used to one another.
Sorry you have been dealing with the online pharmacy and having such a hard time of it.
You had a very busy day yesterday!

Sandy you got some great bargains! Glad you were able to replace what you needed!! Nice that Kohl's does that for their employees.

Lynn going to the Vet is a big deal. Glad that is marked off your list! How breed is Peanut?

Val nice you could take your vacation time. It got to where DH had to take his or lose it too. Businesses are all about saving money even if it isn't loyal to their employees or builds loyalty to them. It is sad!
Glad your hard day is behind you!

Have a baby shower to go to today. DD and Ddil will go too. A young lady we have knowns since she was 15 and we have known her that many years and more now. This is her 2nd baby. First was a girl and this time they are having a boy. He will be a "3rd" as he will be named after Grandpa (Sr) and Daddy (Jr). I think they will call him "Tre"

Hope Everyone has a great weekend! and hope this sends today!!

Worried about all of who are out west I can't imagine what they are going through with those wild fires. Keeping them in my thoughts. Also am concerned for those who live in Florida and along the east coast. There is a horrible hurricane brewing and it has been devastating in Dominica and Puerto Rico. Pat, take care.

We have rain here today and it feels like autumn. Well, so it goes...goodbye summer.

Well ladies, I'm hoping that New Mexico will get a little bit of moisture from the storm you guys are expecting. We can definitely use it. This summer hasn't been as godawful hot as most of them are, but it has still been pretty darn warm for the last few weeks and I'd like to see it cool back down. I always love to see rain here so even though we had a bit of rain earlier this summer I'd really appreciate it if you could find a way to steer some of it here... emoticon

I had a perfectly hideous day at work, but now it's over and I only have to work one more day before I'm on vacation for a week. emoticon emoticon Not really sure what I'm going to do with my week off, it's just one that I chose because I had to find two more weeks to take off before my Christmas vacation so that I don't lose any of the vacation time I've earned this year. (We lose any that we don't use by about a month after the end of the year because my company is just funny that way. emoticon )

The only thing I have planned for next week is getting my hairs cut. I've been planning on getting a haircut since my birthday at the end of June but I haven't done it, so it's pretty doggone long at the moment. Well, long for me, meaning that it falls to my shoulders and looks pretty shaggy to me. It's also 2 colors at the moment, though a lot of people don't notice that because of the lighting at the hospital. I think that's funny, but then maybe I'm just extra sensitive to it because I know that it had been colored red before I stopped getting haircuts. The length of it is kind of curly, too, which is totally new and different for me but my best friend thinks it's just because of my hormones changing as I go through menopause. I'd love for my hair to stay curly (since it has never, ever been curly until the past 6 months or so) but I can't stand it as long as it is right now, so...

Anyway, that's my life at the moment. I'll try to have more to say next week when I'm off work and not totally exhausted for about 7 days. Hope you all have a fantastic weekend. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

TexasLynn wish I was closer so I could "steal" your items. I am always repurposing others "unwanted" items. I even have 2 teakettle birdhouse hanging in the park gardens.

It is looking more and more like we are going to get hit by Erika-hope they are right and it will only be a tropical storm!

Frosty, it looks like Erika may give you some rain and cool, and hopefully not a lot of destruction.

We have been busy today as well, getting Peanut to the vet for her annual business, then getting in a bit of yard work before the heat of the day. I trimmed a loralpetalum border in front of the house, fed and watered them, the ivy and airplane plant hanging baskets, and the new planting of southern peas, got a small fountain and a standing windchime hauled out to the curb for someone to "steal," pulled down a couple of faded garden flags, and chucked some worn out welcome mats into a garbage bag I want to fill with junk by dark-thirty tonight.

Oh, and fertilized all the plants on/around the patio. I'm inside cooling, drinking iced coffee and a bottle of water, and have to go back out to finish watering and put up new garden flags.

Whew!

emoticon savings Sandy. Hope the coming week will bring you peace and quiet!

I have been going at a run till about 2 so decided it was time for a Spark break. Walked early, took care of the weeds and rose trimming at my neighbor's (I take care of her house while she is up north), trimmed everything on the east side of our house, mixed up weed killer and sprayed at our house, got travel alerts set up on last 2 credit cards, didn't have one set up for online access so had to do that 1st, called to see if I could pick up medicine for Abbie, dropped DH at PT and drove 25 miles to pick up her medicine and back to pick up DH, quick stop at the store and even got a load of laundry done in between all of this!
My to-do list is going down and if all keeps going like this, I should get it finished with a few days to spare to rest up before we leave on our trip! However, Erika may throw a wrinkle in things so I am pushing to get as much done as I can before she is to come calling next week.
We might get lucky and Erika could just fall apart and then nothing but better to be prepared instead of not!

his week at Kohl's is Employee Appreciation week. So, we get 35% discount instead of the 15% discount that we normally get. Since I gave XDH the coffee maker I brought myself a Keurig, which just makes one cup at a time. I got for $ 95.00 instead of the $150.00 it normally is. I also go 2 blouses one for 2.50 and another for 4.95 I got 20% off the already marked clearance price plus my 35% discount. I have to be at work at 9am tomorrow so I am about ready to head to bed.

hope everyone has a great weekend.

Lynn it has been ungodly hot in FL also. We have lived here for the last 9 summers and this is the hottest we have ever had. We got about 10 days of spring and went right into HOT weather. Hope you and Mom enjoyed your road trip and you enjoy the bonus time off.

Sandy so happy that everything is coming to an end and you can get on with your life. It is good to hear that you are looking happy and it is showing to others too.

Gail do hope that soon this is all going to come to an end for you. One can only relive something like this so long. I would love some of your cooler temps. We did get a bit of a break today-we got rain earlier and it was overcast during midday so we got up to about 88 and then it dropped down to 76 and once the rain was done, it climbed back up but only to about 84 so after the high 90's that is a welcome relief.

I walked and then got some yard work done in the park. I am pretty much done with what I plan to do for the park-will just deadhead the roses one last time. I finished trimming my 3 shrubs in front of our house so now just to move on to the other 3 sides at home! Some I do not want to do until just before we leave.

We left Abbie with Tommy for about 3 hours as I had a podiatrist appointment at 1. This gave them a chance to get used to each other. I would like to do that a few more times before we leave.

I have been dealing with my mail order pharmacy and thought on Tues. I had it all cleared up, WRONG. Had to make another call today and spent another 45 min on the phone and hopefully I will get my medicine before we leave!!! I also got the newspaper called and set up my vacation stop and start so one more thing off my to do list! I am making progress. I really, really want to be done a few days early so I can relax before we leave.

Good Afternoon:

Feels like fall here. It has been a beautiful sunny day with temps in the 60s. I had to go back to the bank today because the safe deposit key I brought yesterday didn't fit. It was an old one. Long story short, we got everything sorted out. I spent 1 1/2 hours sifting through papers in four languages. The Polish was beyond me and I'll need someone to translate. I'll contact the University to see if there is someone in the Slavic language department. All I need to know is which papers are political, and which are personal or of no particular consequence. I came across more photos, and a list of Polish Jews who were deported (to concentration camps). It's a horrible thing to say, but at this point I am numb...I stopped feeling. I've had mega doses of these things for three years now and it's like watching the same horror film over and over and over.

I went to the farmers' market yesterday and bought kale. Today I made kale chips. Not bad. I also bought beets and will try to make beet chips in the next few days.

Sending you all hugs,

Gail

DG: Wonderful of your son to help you clean out the garage. I would never have been able to do what I did if it weren't for the help of others.

Lynn: Sorry your weather has been so hot. I can't imagine....

Happy Thurs Everyone! DD, DGS and I took a 2 mile walk outside this morning. It was a lovely 71 when we left and just a tad less that 76 when we got home. Loving this cooler weather in *August*!! Never would have expected it!

Sandy glad things are working out so well for you. How fun to see a long time friend.

Val glad you have some time off. That is nice. Glad you are getting notices again. I was told if you click on the "subscribe to this discussion" once in awhile it keeps refreshing so you aren't so likely to be dropped. Worth a try. ;-)

Gail hope you can get it all done soon. DS volunteered to help me with the garage when his Master's classes are over next week! Woo Hoo! What a special gift that is! ;-) Will give us all more room for what we do need to keep out there. Might even be room for him to park his small car inside. My SUV is too large no matter what we do. ;-)

Lynn hope you have a great road trip. My TX temps have dropped considerably. We can still have some really hot days but to have 70 degrees in the morning is a delight. What part of TX are you? I am north central.

Hugs and hope Everyone has a great day!

I would hate to know I had to move much of anything in this weather but y'all may not be having a Texas summer from hell like we are. This is the time of year when I am tired of going outside, tired of watering flowers, tired of everything it the cupboard, tired of everything in the closet, etc. but today I have the treat of an unexpected day off. It was on the calendar all year and summer has been so busy at school none of us noticed the unused "bad weather" day until a couple of weeks ago. We get Friday as a state holiday anyway [LBJ's birthday-the only good thing we ever got from the worst President we ever had] and realized we have a four-day weekend so woohoo. The girls have to go to the vet for shots tomorrow and Saturday but this is my bonus day to do nothing. After sleeping in, having a late breakfast and two cups of hot, read again hot, coffee, Ma and I are off on a little local road trip.

Hope you all have a great day!

Sandy: Remove stress and many good things appear.

Vali: So glad to hear from you. Glad you had a good work week and hope your mom does come.

Going to the safe deposit box today to take out all archival materials. Think I only have one or two more boxes in the basement with photos and archival stuff. Just want to get this over with.

Well I stopped getting notifications for this thread...again...Oh well. I subscribed to it...again...and hopefully they'll keep coming again for a while...

I had a halfway decent day at work today. We were so doggone busy that I only got to sit down for a couple of minutes to eat a few bites of my dinner. emoticon But those kind of days go by really quickly so before I knew it, it was time for me to turn things over to the night shift and come home. 3 more days of work in this week, and then I'm taking next week off. My mom might come visit at the end of the week, or she might wait until I take a week off in October. It's kind of hot right now so that might be better. Anyway, I hope that the week is going really well for all of you. Stay cool...if you can...

There was much rejoicing!

Thank you everyone. The good News is XDH will be out by Saturday. BIL is leaving Saturday also. So, I will have the whole house to myself and cane do whatever I want and his stuff will be gone. I am so happy that it is over. Went and saw a friend at her work to drop off a Birthday present for her and stayed and had a bite to eat. She even noticed how happy I was. Even told me I looked good . even though I gained a couple of pounds.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Sandy that sounds like a great plan. I am sure you would both enjoy more time with each other and it would be a win-win for both of you,

I have had a busy but good day. Even though it is my birthday, I got up and walked and then grabbed a bite and got cleaned up to take DH to PT. That ends up taking up about 90+ minutes. I hate to leave since I never know how long they will keep him. It is my chance to just sit, relax and read!!! We went by the police department when we left PT and I dropped off my expired medication. They keep a locked bin in the lobby and you just put the pills in a ziplock bag and drop them in and they dispose of them so they don't get into the water supply or the landfill. Great thing and I feel so much better about destroying them. They used to say to flush them and then realized that was not so good! What is good one day is a big NO-NO the next week! I went and visited another groomer who is a lot closer than the one I have been using and have made an appointment for Abbie there. Then I went to PetSmart and got things set up there so they have the information they need so she can be bathed there while we are gone. I would normally do that but Barb won't be able to so this will keep her clean. With her allergies I can't let her go too long between baths.
This afternoon DH, Vickie & I went to Cody's for an early dinner. They had their crab legs on special so I enjoyed a lb of them for by BD.
I did manage to get a couple more things off my to do list!!

Well, I end up working yesterday as we had the Big Wigs coming through. I only worked 12 to 4:30pm but, it was the 6th day in a row for me. I now have 2 days off then I work 6 more days. I was every tired when I got home. I did stop by and saw my Aunt after work and had a bite to eat with her.

XDH might have a place to live, Hopefully! I Think that is why I am so tired. When I saw my Aunt she said as soon as I could sell my house I could move in with her and put my stuff in storage till I found a place to live. I may just do that It would save me money. As I wouldn't have utilities bills to pay or cable. I would just give my Aunt money for it. And the food bills would go way down too. My Aunt loves to cook. So, that is the plan so far.

I hope that everyone is having a wonderful week.

Gail I try to make my walks a priority and get in at least 5 a week. I will be happy when it gets cooler and I can sleep a little later though.

Sandy emoticon

Today after my walk I got another shrub trimmed and cleaned house-spruced up the front part as had company coming to play cards this afternoon. We also got the sheets washed and back on the bed and I gave Abbie a bath so a productive day. I am working on other things for our trip-after we played cards, I got one credit card notified about our travels but have 2 more to do.

DG glad you were able to take advantage of those awesome sales too. I love it when I can get the bargains.

Sandy glad that finally XDH's family is seeing what you have been dealing with and going to get him moved out and into some other place. It is a sickness but it isn't something for you to keep dealing with if he isn't willing to help himself. Hopefully then you can move on with your life.

I walked early but it was already HOT and muggy. DH had PT at 9:30 and we got back home about 11:15. I managed to get 2 more shrubs trimmed before the rain started. It only lasted long enough to get everything wet. Now it is too hot to go out and do anything else. I have 4 more shrubs out front to trim so hopefully will have them done this week. The things that grow fast I want to do the week before we leave. I am now trying to make some calls and work on lists of things to do!

Well, we were to get off at 10pm last night but, we didn't get out till 12:45AM. emoticon . I also got a call from my BIL at 11:14pm on my phone saying he and XDH got into it last night as XDH got really drunk and started going off on him like he does with me. So, now his own brother his sick of him and has only spent less then a week with him. His brother is calling me a Saint for putting up with it for so long. GEE, I have only been asking them for the pass year to get him out and to please help me.

HIs brother has gone to get boxes today and U-Haul van and pack him today and find him a place to live. BIL said he will be out by Wednesday. I am happy about that.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Happy Sunday Friends,
Pat we went shopping at Kohl's yesterday too. Ddil saw she had some Kohl's cash she had to use or lose. I found a cute t-shirt for Grandson for next summer. It ended up being $1.21 after all the sales were calculated! I purchased a similar t-shirt for his Dad and it was marked $9.99 but when it rang up it was $3.00. Sure is nice when money spreads so far! ;-)
Glad you aren't too close to either shore! Those hurricanes would scare me. Guess I am not that wild about deep water!
My Aunt and Uncle moved to FL in 84 and their development near Ocala had 2 man made lakes. Not too many years went by and they had alligators in those lakes! That wouldn't please me either. ;-)
Hope you got some of those "to dos" off your list!

Gail Congratulations on such a good day!!! Eating well and exercising!! Woo Hoo Girl!! You go!!

Sandy you are very welcome. I hurt for you. Loss isn't easy no matter how it comes.
Hope you get some good rest on your days off too like Pat said. Have you started any packing yet? I don't envy you there.

Am beginning to love our new Sunday routine. I go to bed earlier than any other night and that helps so much since the little one gets up so early. I am hoping he will sleep later when the fall time changes happens. I don't even know when that is! ;-)
Good Night all!!

Sandy hope you get to rest up on your days off. You are pushing really hard.

We went to breakfast before church this morning and I am using today to get caught up on some things at home. Really hot out there so need to do inside things!

Hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Pat - sounds like you had a lot of fun and got some really good bargains.

DG - Thank you for your kind words.

Vali - How are you doing? Has the heat let up at all.

Gail - Keep up the good work.

Good Morning: Well, yesterday was a banner day. I walked for 20 minutes and my food was good. I logged, weighed and measured everything so as not to cheat. I even got in 7 C of liquid: water, tea and black coffee. Hoping to do as well today.

DG we are in the middle of the state so about 70 miles from either coast. I prefer the gulf side but we have to go a bit further that way to get a nice beach. It is a little over an hour to the Atlantic. We like not living right on either coast so we aren't in the direct path should a hurricane take aim at us.

Vickie and I went shopping today. I had $10 birthday money from both Kohls and Bealls so I managed to get 2 tops at Kohls for under $4 and I got DH a t-shirt for under $5 so spent my money wisely.

So, BIL talked with XDH all morning while he worked as he went with him. I looked up a couple of places for XDH to move to. The only problem is his credit is so bad he won't be able to get a place to live. So, he will have to go to California with his Brother. As he will have to get a job. So, we will see what happens. BIL is going to find him a place to live and pack him up. Good news is XDH is at least being good about the whole thing and nice. So far.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Thank you everyone for all the support. It is almost over.

Hi Everyone!
Got to see newest Grandbaby on sonogram today. A little too early to tell gender for sure so will wait a bit longer. Baby is a real mover like big brother, but if as content and happy we don't mind! ;-) What a wonderful way to start the day even if we did have to get up at 6:30!!

Pat I thought of you yesterday as I did some wedding. We have volunteer trees that come up in the oddest places. Lots of bird spread them I guess. Then the crepe myrtle trees and their shoots, it is a never ending job to keep them thinned out. So nice to have some of that done. I am about to lose a rose bush too to the wild ivy. Goodness!! I need a gardener just for my own yard!

Sandy sorry the going is so rough.

Think I will go take a nap while the baby is! ;-)

Val I got to experience the evaporator cooler years ago in Phoenix as my cousin had one BUT she also had central air! Hope by next summer you have found an new apartment. Have you started looking? Nice to start getting ideas so you know where you want to move when the time comes.
I had a busy day-usual walk and after breakfast worked on pruning things in the park gardens. Had a golf cart load and I quit by a little after 10 as it was way to hot and muggy to be working out in the sun. I even took some gator aide to our maint. men as they were edging out in the heat. If I see them, I try to give them something to drink.
I sprayed the weeds coming up in the rocks around our house and hope it was enough to do the job. I had two nearly empty jugs of Roundup so used them up and now need to get more as I know I will need to spray again just before we leave.
This afternoon which DH went to visit friends in the hospital, I got my ironing caught up. We also dog sat for the one couples shih-Tzu, Buttons and will have her again tomorrow. She is like Abbie and scared of storms. Glad we could help out and I sent home a plate of food for Diane's supper as I had made a roast for ours.

Good Morning Everyone! Rain again today and it is so nice to have temps in the 80s and not the 100s! Never had Autumn weather in August in all the 40 plus years I have lived here! But I will take it!! ;-)

Pat so glad you have care givers for Abbie so your trip isn't compromised! Sounds like you had a nice day yesterday.
Yes Grandbaby #2 is due in January! We are all excited. We were all surprised and stunned at first. Mommy and her next younger brother are the same age spread. So mommy knows how fun it is to have a sibling so close in age. Thankfully we have many hands to help out and Mommy gets to stay home this time, no more going back to work!

Sandy so sorry he was there when you arrived home but thankful XBil saw for himself and can't argue with your assessment!

Val I am sorry I think you did tell me about the evaporative cooler last year. I have never seen one but have heard that is what they used to use in our area before the 1960s. The man made lakes have made it too humid and they don't work now. Central A/C had made it much more comfortable of an area in which to live.

Hope Everyone has a good day!

My apartment doesn't have true air conditioning, but it does have an evaporative cooler that isn't working very well. This is my 3rd of 4th summer here and it seems to get a little bit worse every year. It's certainly better than outside, but it's not always cool in here. A bit better today, so maybe the temperature is going down? Hope so...

Gail, you do not ever need to apologize for leaning on us for support when you're feeling angry or depressed or stressed or whatever. That is a part of what we are here for, and we all care very much about you. I agree with what you have chosen to do about the piano. It would be really nice if you could get what it's worth for it, but in this circumstance that is almost certainly not going to happen. And I think that putting a time limit on selling it before you sell it to the dealer is a really good idea. You need to be able to move on with your life and if that means selling the piano at a loss, then so be it. You're not really losing any money now because the piano was paid for a long time ago, so see what you can get for it and then take the offer if it won't sell in the allotted amount of time. You really need to be done with this for the sake of your emotional health. emoticon

Gotta hit the sack.

There was much rejoicing!

Gail - No, The Fires are not near me. But, we did loose 3 Firefighters today in another fire that has come up. 4 more are in the hospital with one of them seriously injured. Please say prayers for them.

Picked up XBIL today and had a long talk with him. XDH was at the house when we got back to see him. I didn't send him home as now he is too drunk to drive. XBIL and I took the keys from him and put him on the couch to sleep it off. XBIL couldn't believe it. He really thought he was getting better. Now he understands. He also told me that the rest of the family has washed their hands of him and want nothing to do with him. It is pretty sad that his own family won't help. I explained to his brother I just want him out of my life and his stuff gone. I don't care where he goes but, I don't want him here. I am done being their babysitter. I would like to have a really man in my life some time not a child. He got the picture loud and clear.

Hope everyone had a wonderful day.

DG - another grandchild on the way. What a blessing for you. Soon you will have 2 to spoil. Glad you are all supporting each other I am like you and Gail-seem to pay top dollar for things I purchase and practically give things away when I sell!

Val I hope your week flies by and soon it is the weekend again. The hear sure has been unbearable this summer. We haven't seen any actual 100's but the heat index has been over numerous times.

Gail I do hope that the right buyer comes along. Selling a piano of that caliber is not easy and not something that many want or could afford. I used to love to listen to my grandmother play the piano (she didn't take lessons but played by ear). As a child I would sing something to her and she could always play it back. I am sorry I didn't inherit her gift.

I talked to Barb today and she has had her surgery and is back in Cape Cod in rehab. They say she will be out of there in a couple of weeks. She says she is planning to be back in time to take care of Abbie BUT if she isn't, her brother in law will take care of her until she gets back. Maybe it is all going to come together for us yet. Just have to have faith.

I walked at 6:30 and it was so muggy even that early. I didn't get a lot else done today as Bill had therapy at 9:30 and I never know how long they will keep him so I stay and read. This is when it is a problem with him not driving! We didn't get home till 11:30 and I did get a load of laundry taken care of. We had coupons and went to lunch with Vickie & Sonny at Olive Garden and then played cards and didn't get home till almost 6. Pretty much took care of our day.

Hello Friends!
My, I did not want to get up this morning. But kept hearing a little fellow and couldn't tell if he was crying on or off or playing. So I got up at 7:45 to see if DD needed some help. She didn't and he was just playing. Taking me awhile to wake up! ;-) But I am getting a handle on the day so all is well!
DS and his Girl had to leave last night. I am thankful they could be with us for a couple of days.

Sandy Glad you were able to get the house work done and only have a few things to do today.
Glad it is a good area where you want to move and it is kept nice.

Pat hope you get the wrinkle ironed out quickly. So sorry you have complications to your trip. Is Abbie small enough she could travel with you? I hear you can put them under your seat in the plane now. When we traveled with my cat he had to be in the baggage compartment. Such a big difference for their comfort! It was the only way we could get him to our new home at the time.

Val does your apartment not have a/c? I would have a hard time with that anymore but even though we had a/c when our children were young they were in and out so much we just had the windows open and let them run in and out and enjoy the outside. It isn't even safe to let children do that anymore! It is so sad!

Gail I am praying the Lord will send the right person so you can sell Vic's Steinway. Is it a Steinway store? l know how hard it is for sure to not get the value of things. Seems I don't get them when I sell things but when I buy things the seller gets fair price. How can it work both ways? But the Lord Jesus always provides what I need so am praying He will help you too.
No, with family around,t here are enough of us watching what we eat, we tend to help one another be good instead of causing us to eat poorly. Especially with Ddil that is pregnant. She of course wants to eat healthy for the baby as we want her to do. ;-)
Glad you know we are here for you!

Ok, I had better go get busy! Time for lunch too!

Hugs to you all!

Good Morning:

Yesterday was a painful day for me. Vic was not evil, but he was an only child, had OCD and was a compulsive spender. All of our married life he spent lavishly on his collections and hid his purchases from me. Stuff would sort of appear and it was all done slowly over a long, long period of time. All that time I lived close to the edge and had very, very little. It took me 1 1/2 years to save for a tube of lipstick in the first years of our marriage. I guess I was in denial for a long time and after a while I was too tired to fight it. I drew a line in the sand that there was to be no debt and after he climbed out of massive debt he stayed debt free.

Yesterday I spoke to the man who has the piano business and all the old anger and resentments I had for Vic surfaced. I gave the businessman as much rope as he needed to negotiate the price of the piano; if it doesn't sell by the end of Oct. he will buy it from me for about 20% of its retail value. I've lost so much already on the sales of Vic's things that I'm too weary to fight it. I must just put it past me and try to go on with life. I contacted my doctor to get a referral for counseling. He's on vacation so I'll have to wait till he returns.

The good news is that much as I craved a sundae yessterdayI didn't go out. I got into some junk food (salty crunchies and a can of Coke) but it wasn't too bad. I could have really gone off the deep end.

Sorry for leaning on you guys. I've said my piece and will leave it at that.

Wishing you all a happy day,

Gail

Pat: I'm so sorry about your having to scramble for a sitter for Abby. I hope you find someone soon and can go on with your plans.

Val: I can't imagine how hard it is for the folks who have no AC. Do they have cool shelters for them?

Sandy: There are horrible fires out west and I was wondering if they were where you are.

DG: With your family around is it harder for you to deal with food?

Lynn: You got some great deals on your appliances. I found that I got great deals on lighting from my electrician. He doesn't take a commission so I got his full discount.

Hi everyone. Start of a new week for me today and so far, so good. Now only 4 more work days before I get my "weekend" again. It's been really flippin' hot here, and pretty humid for us, but so far I'm surviving. Here in town we're getting close to 100 degrees every day lately, but we're supposed to go back "down" to highs of 95 or so next week. I'm sure that parts of the state really are having triple digit temps, especially down south of me. But so far we're only gone up to 98 and 99 here in Albuquerque, or at least in the part of ABQ where I live. Hope it stays that way. (On my days off I spent a lot of time sitting in front of a fan and reading or watching TV. With any luck summer will end in another month or so and it won't be so miserably hot anymore...) emoticon

Gail, I'm so sorry that there's nobody in your family who can use Vic's Steinway. Those are such wonderful pianos, kind of like having a Stradivarius for me. (Actually, my violin is not a Strad, but it has a label inside its body claiming that it is one. It was made by a man named Baldatoni and apparently he had a habit of putting labels in his violin that said Stradivarius. Guess in the 1800s that was a way to get more money for your violin. emoticon )

I hope things are going well for the rest of you. I've got to get off this computer and get to bed earlier than usual tonight because I've been really tired today. I'll talk to all of you again soon. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

Gail happy you found a tv. We got a new one from Sam's Club on Black Fri-I ordered it online which meant I didn't have to fight the crowds!!

DG how great that you had all your children home. Very special times for all of you. It is good that you are all fairly close together that you can do this. Our children are over 1,000 mi from us and the other is in MT! We have been planning to see them on our trip this fall but we have a wrinkle now so hoping we still get to go. We haven't seen these kids in over 9 yrs. Our dog sitter is in MASS and she fell yesterday and shattered her leg and had to be moved from Cape Cod to Boston for surgery so doesn't look like they will be back in time for us to leave! We are trying to find someone else who we trust to keep her. They will likely be back in 6 wks so only need them for a couple of weeks.

Vickie & I worked in the gardens today for a couple of hours. Certainly was hot out there today.

Been working on cleaning the house all day and doing laundry. Had to clean the guest bathroom that DS was using and the bedroom. XDH brother arrives tomorrow at 1pm. So, still have time to pick up the house of a few things just touch up. But, most is all done.

Gail - Glad that you have the new TV.

Nan - always good to hear from you.

Vali - Stay cool. Heard you are guys are having really hot weather.

DG - The other good thing about where I will be live is that they have guide lines that you have to follow. So, it keeps the area really nice and everyone's place clean.

Hope everyone had a great day.

Hi Friends!
We had a wonderful time last night. All my children were together. That is always so special for me. We had a good time celebrating the oldest Son's birthday and remembering DH/Dad. Today DS's Girlfriend and I looked at my wedding album. I was glad she was interested. It was fun reliving the memories.

Gail glad you found a new tv. I hear you about not using the oven in the summer. We use a Crock pot and the microwave a lot during the summer too. In the winter we used the stove and oven to add to the warmth of the house. ;-) Makes it hard to resist the cookies and pies DD bakes but it does keep us warmer! This winter we will have a little boy to help us eat those cookies! :-)
LOL It is good we don't live close. My DD would love to have a Steinway!! She has teased about where she'd put it and her oldest brother told her, her bedroom and she could sleep on it! LOL
I hope they sell it for you quickly! What a shame it has taken so long!

Sandy so glad the area you are looking at holds their value. My parents had their on their own 2 acres of land. Not sure why it needed a lot of work. They actually had 2 of them and they both required a lot of work. Maybe it was the area of the country where they lived? They had a lot of rain and snow.

Pat so glad your modem arrived and is hooked up and running! I won't know where to begin!

Nan so glad to see you again!

Got a TV yesterday, so that's one down and one to go. My burners work so I can hold off with the range. I don't use the oven much anyway, especially in summer.

Got to get in touch with the piano store that has had Vic's Steinway for almost 3 years now. They were supposed to sell it on consignment. I spoke to him a few months ago and told him to negotiate the price. To date nothing. Really want to be rid of it at this point.

Gail

Lynn: I have a kitchenaid now but don't think I'll go for one again. You have no idea how disappointed I am that it didn't last longer.

Pat: So glad you're up and running with the computer.

Sandy: I know mobile homes have come a very long way and you will find something wonderful. Sounds good that you will own the land.

DG: I bet you walk around every day with a smile on your face taking care of that baby. How lucky he and his parents are to have you.

Val: Are you staying cool? I heard last night that the temperatures in NM are in the triple digits.

Nan: Miss you.

Sandy that is good that you own the property. We are a resident owned park which means we own a share and our value also stays up. Most folks really do a good job of taking care of them which is a plus.

My modem arrived today about 1 but I had company so I had to wait till they left before hooking things up. Took me about 5 min to swap things out and now I am back up and running1 What a relief. The tech also called to tell me my new glasses are in so that will be on my to-do list for tomorrow! I have quite a list already going so hope I can get it all done!

Gail - If you are able to hold out till Labor Day for your Stove that would be the best time to by from Home Depot.

DG - The Mobile Homes I am looking at are much newer and nicer than most. Plus where they are local they don't move from the lot you own the lot and the land you live on. so, it will go up in and not depressant in price. That is why I am looking in this one park area. My Aunt has lived there since the started it. It is not like the others where you rent the lots you put your home on.

Worked till 10:30pm last night and I was really tired. I have 3 days off now. But, have so much to do. I have phone calls to make and I have to get ready for XDH brother and clean the house. XDH still has not come over to pack up all his stuff he still don't think he will be moving. Hi brother is now not answering my phone calls so I have no idea to when he is coming into town.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Good Morning:

DG and Sandy, thanks for the info. Unfortunately we don't have a Lowes around here. I will check out Home Depot and some others. BTW, a strange thing happened. My stove clock stopped showing the error message and now shows the correct time again. I'm afraid to try the oven for fear that it still won't work, but I will get around to it. I don't use the oven much, especially in summer, so I'm in no hurry to replace it. The burners work fine and I have a crock pot. As for the TV, well, it still only shows the same static picture and has no sound, but some of the controls can be moved. Got to check with a friend who might know something before I buy a new TV. This one is a monster (63") and the replacement will be 65" because they don't make the other size any more.

Sending you all hugs,

Gail

Hello Friends,
Am trying to get things in order for DS's visit tomorrow. ;-) Thought they were coming this evening but have had to delay until tomorrow. Just give me a bit more time to do all I want to do. ;-)

Gail Hope you can find what you are looking for. Sandy is right about Lowe's, you can find some good sales. I don't envy you, I think shopping for appliances is a lot of work.

Sandy hope you are rested today. ;-) My folks had some tough times with both of their mobil homes. They depreciate in value like cars and trucks instead of increasing like a house. They always need a lot of work. That's my opinion for what it is worth. LOL

Pat glad you had a good time and hope you can get that modem up and running soon! Thanks for sharing the warnings and what to look very closely for before purchasing a mobil home!

Off to bed! Baby has been waking at 6:30 AM and DD and I take turns getting up with him to start his day. Not complaining just stating why the early bed time!! ;-) Hugs to you all!

Sandy, we live in a mobile home so be sure to walk all over the floors to check for soft spots especially by the windows. Look the windows over carefully as if they have not been replace, they can leak and cause issues. Check carefully for leaks in the roof. Ours has been pretty much rebuilt from the inside out-new windows, siding, floor, baths redone, etc. We put in tile floors and the people we bought from really did a major remodel of things. We found that you do get what you pay for.

Yesterday I went and looked at a place over at where my Aunt lives. She wanted me to look at as many as I can to get a feel of the different types of mobile homes as they are a lot in there and different ages. The one I looked at was not well kept and needed a lot of work. It also looked like it had a leak at the front door. I am taking a look at another one today that is much nicer and more newer. But, they have it priced really high. So, we will see what happens.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Gail- Have you checked at Home Depot or Lowe's. I have gotten pretty good deals there and found them to be a cheaper then say Sears or others. Also, they do make TV's that are not smart TV's. I got mine though amazon.com or you can look at Target or Wallmart also. Don't buy from Best Buy as if you have to turn it they have the worse return policy. Also, Check into your local Eclectic Company as if you are buying a newer appliance you will usually get a rebate for it since you are up-grading. Just a FYI. Also, end of summer they start having a lot of sales on appliances especially around Memorial Day or is Labor Day that is coming up. Any ways just as the kids go back to school.

Well, here is a good laugh for all of you. I got home from work last at 5:30pm had a bite to eat. Sat down to watch a the Seattle Seahawks play and answer a few e-mails. Made though the game but got bored so started to watch a taped program. Well, that when it went wrong. the next thing I know I am waking up with the computer on my lap and program long over and it is 2am. I must of fell asleep about 8pm. I just shut everything off and went back to sleep. I have never done that. emoticon

Hope everyone ha a great weekend.

You're looking at the wrong appliances. When we remodeled we intended to go with Electrolux appliances for the kitchen but the appliance store has a special every July on Kitchen Aid so with the builder discount and the sale, we bought about $20,000 of appliances for about $12,000 including the 10-year warranty. We got an additional $600 for buying multiple appliances and spent it on the matching Kitchen Aid microwave. All of the appliances are made of top grade materials and there is nothing flimsy about them. To be honest, the microwave was a piece of crap and burned out a heating element in just over a year which would have cost $200 to replace. Nixed that for a Panasonic and yep it is flimsy as all get out but it only cost a couple hundred bucks. All of these are ultra-energy efficient; the oven puts no heat into the house at all so I can use it year round. The convection oven cuts my cooking time to about 2/3 of the conventional time. A month ago we got a new Maytag washer and my only complaint is that it is very noisy. It has a sensor that measures the amount of water needed to wash the load so it saves on electricity and on water. Do some more shopping and I think you will find something you like.

DG: That's what I'm looking for. My current range has a regular oven that can also be used as a convection oven. I almost never used the convection and have not intention of getting that again. As for the TVs, most of them are smart TVs...you can have the stuff from the internet on the TV screen. I never use that, but good luck finding one that doesn't have it.

Happy Saturday Everyone!

Gail, glad you have had some company but it is tiring. My life seems busy even if I don't have company. I keep saying I am going to slow down but it is always one thing or another that keeps me moving! But that is better than being bored, in my opinion. ;-) There are times that I do have to just say, I need a nap or am going to bed early tonight. Thankfully the kids understand and aren't offended!
Agree appliances are just cheaply made but cost a bundle. DH was an engineer and always went with the more basic appliances (less bells and whistles) as he said there was less to break or wear out. If that is any help to you. Hope you find ones that will service you well.

I went looking at appliances yesterday and they don't come cheap. That wouldn't be so bad if they lasted a long time but the life expectancy seems to be about 10 years if you're lucky. UGH... Also, many are using materials that look kind of flimsy. Have you noticed?

My grandson and his girlfriend were at my home this past week. It was delightful to see them, but quite a bit of work keeping up. He's leaving tomorrow so things will calm down.

Hope Everyone has a good Friday! and weekend!

I am looking forward to a quiet and peaceful weekend but it probably won't be. I have to get ready for DS and his girlfriend's visit. They actually will be here Mon and Tues. I will keep his dog while he has to be on a business trip. He doesn't know anyone in his area yet so he'd have to board her, which is expensive and seclusive for the dog and she is such a people pet! So she will stay with me and my dog will love having her here too.

Pat are you home yet? Hope you had a wonderful time!

Sandy glad you are taking it one day at a time. Glad you will have time to share with your brother in law.

Gail - So, about the TV and stove. At least they lasted longer than most. And thank you! I am hanging in there. XDS brother is coming in Tuesday and I am going to pick him up and have him stay with me. So, that we can talk. XDH has been moody in his phone calls lately. So, I have not been really talking with him which makes him mad too.

DG - Sounds like you will have a good time this weekend.

Vali - How was you time off? Glad you got New tires.

Pat - How's the trip and Abbie doing?

Taking one day at a time. Going to look a place over by my Aunt this weekend. It looks really nice. I am not in a really big hurry. But, would like to get a smaller place soon. Hoping to get the business sold here.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Oh my Gail!! I am so sorry that you have to replace them again! I wish they would make things to last but I do understand "planned obsolescence". I don't agree it is the right thing to do but it is how it works. Glad your eyes are so good!

DD and I have 2 little ones again today. It will be the last day for awhile as her Grandma gets home this weekend! I have sore muscles from holding little ones. ;-) Babies are napping right now and so is the puppy! The babies keep him busy. He is a good family protector!! ;-)

Hope Everyone has a good weekend! Anyone have any special plans? DS#2 and his girl friend are coming for a visit Monday and Tuesday as long as all goes well. Her Uncle is fighting terminal cancer and hasn't been doing so well. I had better clean the guest room and prepare my room so they have places to sleep. I will share DD's room while they are here.

OMG You guys had better keep clear of me. Yesterday my gas range and TV went out. The gas range is 12 1/2 years old and the TV is about 13 years old. I'm told people replace their appliances about every 10 years. What the hay? My last TV and Range lasted close to 30 years!

Well, I've got to count my blessings. At least my eyes are doing well.

Gail

Had a great day at work but, really tired. Meet with the attorney tomorrow at 2pm that off with my Aunt. Things are going better. XDH is still calling and apologizing and wants to know what he can do to make it right. It is just a little to late for all that. He needs to get help for all that problems and his finances. He is starting to realize that it is him and how much he has hurt me. But, I am still unsure. They say it just to get back into your good graces and then proof they are back to the same old thing again. I watched it with my Mom and Dad. My Father was a alcoholic and I saw what it did to my Mom, and us. I promised myself I would never go through that. That is why I am done. I tried but, the other person has to want to change and help themselves also or it won't work. XDH also doesn't like himself either and that has been a problem. You can love anyone if you don't love yourself first.

OK I am sorry I am going on. I hope that everyone has a wonderful day. Thank you everyone for all your sweet words and input it has really helped.

HI Everyone
Busy week here for me. Am keeping a friends 14 mth old granddaughter 3 days while she is on vacation. Her daughter works in labor and deliver at the hospital so not all her days are on weekdays when Daddy can't keep the baby. Both "littles" are enjoying being together. I am glad DD is here to help. It is a lot of work to care for 2 of them. ;-)

Lynn you lunch sounds good too! Makes me want to go to Chicken Express soon! ;-)

Val so glad your tire is fixed!! I agree I hate it when I put off shopping and then I have a huge list!
Glad yours is pretty caught up again.

Sandy have a wonderful time with your Aunt. I know she appreciates your visits so much. I lost my last living Aunt yesterday. She lived in Minnesota with her Son and Ddil but will be buried in FL where she lived when my Uncle passed. I won't be able to go to either service. Wish I could be there for my cousin.

Gail so sorry you locked yourself out of your bedroom. Maybe it would be less expensive to change the door knob to one of those that has a key you can keep hidden to let yourself in during mishaps like this. Even one with a safety lock would work to open when small chlldren look themselves in? Hope you are enjoying your company otherwise! ;-)

Oh, what a horrible night. I didn't sleep at all. My grandson and his girlfriend are staying with me and so I've been locking my bedroom door for privacy. Last night they came home about 10:15 and I was still up. I went to greet them and when i left my room I accidentally locked myself out. First thing this morning I need to call a locksmith. The worst of it is my eye drops are in the master bath. What next? Just another expense that has tied me up.

Pat: How is Abby doing since her surgery? All better?

Nan: Thinking of you and hoping you will be rejoining us.

Hey Sandy, not trying to tell you how to live your life, but I'm thinking that maybe you need a new way of referring to the man who used to be your DH. Maybe even just FDH or XDH, but I'm thinking that it might help you as you continue working on letting go.

(I thought about sending that to you in a private email but I decided that the members of this group, or at least this thread, have all become close enough that it was okay to share this with everyone.)

Thank you everyone for your support. It has been a little ruff but, I am making it through it. I meet with the guy today that wants to buy the business. I am asking a little more than what I paid for it. We will see what happens. I see the attorney on Wednesday. I worked on the business account today and got everything in order. I am getting everything ready and cleaned up. DS came by today and visited for a little while before he went to work. He and DH are playing golf on Wednesday. I am also going to meet with my Aunt on Wednesday after I see the attorney. Well that is about all.

Hope everyone has a wonderful evening. Thank you all again! emoticon

Lynn, if you are anemic or close to it then you might want to try eating more iron. The best food source of iron is red meat, but since it sounds like you won't want to eat much of that at all, there are some good plant sources of iron, too. Broccoli has a lot of iron, so do green leafy things, and blackstrap molasses, which I'm sure we all consume regularly. emoticon Anyway, do a google search if you're interested. I think it might help you.

Well this afternoon I finally got out to have my tires looked at. It was kind of an adventure. I drove down Montgomery, which has construction...again...But I got past it, and turned the wrong way on San Mateo. emoticon There was more road construction on San Mateo, (it is summer in Albuquerque, after all...) and when I got past it I was at Academy and just a few blocks away from the dealership, so I decided to go there. They took a look at my car even though I didn't have an appointment, and all that was going on is that all of the tires had lost air pressure and needed to be filled up with air. So they did that and didn't charge me a cent for it. If anyone from Albuquerque is reading this, consider Perfection Honda the next time you need to buy a car. They have treated me very well since I bought my used Civic earlier this year. (I like to give word of mouth advertising to businesses that do well by me.)

So anyway, after the dealership I decided to continue driving up Academy until I got to Wyoming (almost home...) and went to WalMart. Spent almost $300, but I needed to get a lot of things and I'd been putting off going there for a few weeks. Got everything on my list except for 2 things I decided to put off until my next trip and turned onto Wyoming, (which is the street I started out on) and put my new steering wheel cover on while I was waiting in a long line of 5:00 traffic to turn onto Spain, which is where my apartment is. Now I won't burn my hands and fingers every day when I start my drive for work...

So I came home, put my WalMart goodies away and started playing online for a while. I did my laundry on Wednesday or Thursday this week (because I hadn't done it over the weekend and I was running out of my favorite kind of clean undies) and I took out the trash the day after that, so I didn't have to do any of that today. I think I'm going to try to get more of my chores done after work during the week instead of always trying to get everything done on my days off. I enjoyed my "weekend" much more this week because of not having to get every single thing done today. I hope that the new week started out really well for all of you, too. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

Dinner was a protein shake to get in some more fruit and protein but I had the tenders with coleslaw today for lunch and it was yummy.

Uber-hot here today. 109 when I left the unit, probably because there are no trees to help with the ambient cooling. It cooled down to 106 by the time I drove 17 miles to town, which was surprising considering we live close to the intersection of a major highway and a loop but I will take what I can get.

We had steamed fish and potatoes for dinner with some sautéed fresh spinach, and when I tracked, I was pleased to discover that I actually hit my protein goal. As a semi-vegetarian/flexitarian, it is hard to get the protein. Since I was borderline anemic on my last lab, I am eating more meat and fish even though it is not my favorite thing.

By the time I finish my outdoor watering, it will be time to shower and go to bed so I best get after it. Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow.

Hello Friends,
Almost bedtime here. Tomorrow is going to be a very busy day with an extra little one. Grandma & Grandpa are on vacation and we will have her 3 days this week.

Pat glad you were able to get some of the things you need on tax free weekend, too. Hope you can get those glasses fixed before you have your time away.

TXLynn that little place sounds cute! Your lunch today sounds great!! Hope you had a great idea for dinner.

Sandy glad his family cares enough to come and get him to help him.

Val hope you had a restful day today!!

Blessings to you all!

Sandy glad you are at peace with your decision and praying that things will fall into place for you as you move forward. It is never an easy decision but once you have made it, then keep moving forward. emoticon

Val hope you enjoy your "weekend" and get done everything you want to do. I know how hard it is to have to do "chores" when you want to play. My to-do list for tomorrow continues to grow. Hoping I can get it all done! We are leaving Tues. morning after DH's therapy for a couple of days so I have to "get er done!"

My glasses broke today so that is a must item for tomorrow. I have to be at the eye dr at 8 am so hoping they can fix it there.

We did something a little unusual today-had a feast. Rarely does KFC see us but we took a notion to have fried chicken for lunch and they had coupons. To go with our biscuit, tenders, and coleslaw, we also indiscriminately prepared home-style gravy, steamed rice, cream corn, and steamed asparagus. Don't panic and think I have fallen off. I ate gravy, rice, corn, asparagus, and one tender for a total of under 500 tracked calories. It was delicious! My other tenders will go with the coleslaw to lunch tomorrow and I may have the biscuit for breakfast. I'm thinking of making a rice salad with the leftover rice by adding halved grape tomatoes, green onion, maybe some black olives. The girls love asparagus so they are getting the leftovers with their Science Diet for supper. If I know my mom, she will scarf down the corn tonight before bed. I just need a high protein low calorie meal for dinner and have not decided what it will be because I am not really hungry.

Sandy, I'm so very sorry that you and F(ormer)DH couldn't work things out and be able to stay together, but I think that you made the right decision for yourself and I hope that life will be very good for you going forward. I'm not going to offer you advice, just tell you that I care about you and I want you to have the best life has to offer, which does not include a man who can not/will not put you first in his life. I hope that you are able to find a place in your life where you will be happy again. emoticon

If I get my butt out of my apartment tomorrow I'll drive down to the tire store near work and get this all taken care of. I must have a slow leak caused by a nail in my tire or something like that. None of my tires looks flat and the car doesn't feel too weird when I'm driving. But I'm not going to let it go on indefinitely because that would end up with me blowing a tire when I'm late to work or on my way home when it's dark in a day when it's raining. If I don't get out tomorrow to have it taken care of then it will be the first thing I do whenever I get up on Monday.

I'm so happy to finally be at my "weekend." I'm going to watch a NASCAR race tomorrow at Watkins Glen, New York. That's not too far from where I lived for seven years when I was a kid, I guess age 3 or 4 to 10, when we moved here. It's such a beautiful part of the country and I'd love to move back there, except for the fact that I'm much more accustomed to much lower taxes and humidity than what they've got going on in New York state. emoticon I'd love to go back there for a visit sometime even though I no longer know anyone who lives there, but I can't work in the state because I don't have a bachelor's degree so I can't take their state certification exam to do the work I've been doing for 25 years. emoticon Oh well. New Mexico doesn't have much in the way of fall colors, which I miss, but I do love our dry weather. emoticon

Gail, Albuquerque is generally warm in the winter, or at least a lot warmer than where you live, but not as warm as Florida. I have no idea whether or not there is anything you could rent here short term, but I'll let you know if I happen to notice anything.

I had a really good day at work today. Got to work in the department (blood bank) that was the first I ever worked in, the first I even trained in when I was in school, and the last one I've finally gotten retrained in. Everything went well and I got to practice some things I hadn't done in a while, which is good. If I could work just in blood bank and hematology I would love my job. Unfortunately I also have to work in Chemistry at least once a week. emoticon But oh well, this work week is over and I can play for two days...or at least play a bit and get a few things done...Anyway, I hope that you're all having a fabulous weekend. Big emoticon to each and every one of you. emoticon

Well, I talked to DH's family and his brother is coming up tomorrow and is going to take up back to California to get him help and to be close with his family. I think that is best for him. DS is staying here he is moving in with some friends from work. I am working on the selling of the business and getting the legal help I need to do that. I feel relief with sadness at the same time as I tired but, I am more important and I come first. And that is what is the most important. Ladies I am tired so I will end now as I have to work again tonight till midnight. My love to you all and Thank you!

Hope everyone has just a wonderful weekend!

Too hot to get out, tax-free weekend or not. There's a really cute, newly remodeled apartment right behind me that just rented for $450/month. It is one bedroom, nice size living room, tiny kitchen and tiny bath but perfect for one person. Should it happen to come up again, I will let you know.
